- Max has been rehomed via Leigh
- 2013-03-30 15:23 redmonkey
- Max is now showing on Leigh's website under 'dogs for rehoming.' Let's hope he finds a great home now. I don't think it's appropriate for this people to post insults on this page, though. Our concern here is for the dogs' welfare, surely?

- Would just like to add all this could have been avoided if the so-called owner had been arsed to collect him when he arrived at Leigh and others offered to kindly donate the £86 collection fee. MAX DESERVES BETTER THAN THIS.

- Although I have been all fired up about Max I am now thinking of quitting in my attempts to get him. I suspect Max has now been moved to a separate kennels. I should have known better than to go to Leigh in the first place as they previously adopted out a dog to me who put me in hospital with serious injuries. - It is me who returned to collect him yesterday. Basically what happened is I heard about Max on Dog Northwest Repost's Facebook page on Sunday. I fell in love instantly and on Monday phoned Leigh who told me he needed to undergo a vet check and TO ATTEND AFTER 5PM. As requested I turned up Monday 5pm to be met with an obnoxious man in his early thirties who said it was too late in the day to adopt Max and I needed to return tomorrow. I told him I was not happy about this as I run 2 businesses and so am very busy. Why the hell did they tell me to turn up after 5 if this is too late for adoptions?
I phoned on Tuesday and repeated I was unhappy with the way I was treated and I was told Max would be reserved until 1 pm. Why the hell did they do this if they knew they would not be adopting him to me. TALK ABOUT TIME WASTING!
I returned at 1255 pm and the lady who appears to be the boss let me spend about 10 minutes with Max and then, while smirking said "right you can go now, today is Max's lucky day and he will certainly not be going home with you". She sarcastically added while laughing "feel free to come and stroke him whenever you want". When I asked her the reason for this she said it was because Max who was over excited on Monday evening jumped up at my toddler. He was fine yesterday with him and apparently comes from a home with a young boy. The owner has stated "my son can be a bit rough with Max and Max is fine with that, he is safe with kids".
I was absolutely fuming and do not know how I left without whacking this ugly obnoxious cow on the conk!
I have informed the staff now that a 3rd party will be coming to collect Max and there is jack sh*t they can do to stop this. My only concern now is Max has now been moved out of Leigh to another shelter.
Could someone make some enquiries and find out where he is? Last edited: 2013-03-27 16:55:28 by Benion123 - 2013-03-26 15:40 redmonkey
- I have heard that the lady returned to Leigh today and was REFUSED adoption of Max. I don't know what on earth is going on. Max's photos have disappeared off Leigh's website - can anyone find out where Max is and why he is not being put up for adoption?

- Just an update for you, poor Max is still at Leigh. Someone went to rescue him today and I had the following message from the lady concerned, not good..........poor Max :-( x
I cannot express how angry I am in words right now. I went to collect Max and was told I needed to go after 5 as he needed a vet check. I drove all the way over from Bolton to be met with an obnoxious rude member of staff. Male early thirties dark hair. He said he wanted to close and we could not adopt without my husband there who was at the RSPCA. I told him I would take him and any issues would return him only to be told "Max has been messed about enough without you messing him around too". He said we had come too late in the day and said you have not met this dog, just seen him on Facebook! This is after Max had met my son and my dogs who were in my car. When I said I wanted to take him I was told "our concern is the animal's welfare not your feelings". If Leigh has such concern for animal welfare why do they shoot retired greyhounds for £10. When I left I was so angry I was physically shaking. I will not be going back on principle as I am that upset which is a massive shame for Max who was due to come on holiday with us this Thursday to Scotland's leading luxury do friendly hotel. I am absolutely devastated and disgusted at the way we have been spoken to Poor max I feel so upset for him
I think he basically did all of this as he just wanted to shut for the day. If that is the case why the hell were we told to go after 5 when they could have easily said go tomorrow - 2013-03-25 06:38 Claire Gresty - Area Co-ordinator & Police Liaison - North West
- I couldn't agree more with you Belle. The owner obviously didn't want him back, wasn't to do with money, enough people offered to donate. I'm trying my best to get Max a new home, in fact, someone is going to see him today so keep everything crossed :-) x
- 2013-03-24 22:07 Belle
- Sounds to me as if Max would be better off in a new home. :(

- Please can I just thank everyone for all their concern and the donations offered to get little Max home. The owner told me his cousin was having the dog as he would keep escaping from his garden (well sort your garden before getting a dog!!), and was trying to get the fee scrapped by the council. I'm not happy about how poor Max has been left there, after all the trouble everybody went to for this little fella. I just hope he finds his forever home and soon. I'll keep posting and sharing Max, hopefully he will be out of there soon xxx

- I've been in touch with the owner's friend and it seems Max is not going home. So I guess that it's now Leigh's decision what happens to the poor little fellow. I am very very sad and disappointed about this. Good luck, little Max, I hope you find a loving new home soon. :(
- 2013-03-23 23:54 redmonkey
- concerned about this dog. I spoke to the owner's friend last Monday (18th) offering to help pay the fee to get Max out. I was told the owner was getting him out. He's still at Leigh.

- 2013-03-18 10:28 debbie

- It is a ridiculous amount of money to ask, considering how much of it actually goes to Leigh and how much goes to the council. I just hope little Max is back home with his family where he belongs asap xx

- This info has been passed to me
On friday my sons puppy escaped out of the garden, it has recentely been took in by the council and taken to leigh dogs home, after a phone call this morning i was told i would have to pay £86 to get it back, i attended the dogs home where i told em i cant afford to pay the monmey there and then as im on a monthly wage, they said i couldnt have the dog back, meanwhile they could see my 6 year old son very upset, i explained to them i was a single parent on a low monthly wage and would be able to pay them wen i got paid, there response is if i dont pay within 7 days i cant have the dog back, like i said even though the fee is excessive i would pay it but not within 7 days, the bottom line is all because they wont wait a extra week for the money they are goin to attempt to rehome the dog when it allready has a loving home, do these prople actually care about the dogs and familys or they just interested in making money - 2013-03-17 10:19 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
