Has the dogs chip been registered to a UK address now?

Also any pubs in the area as the dog I'm sure will start to scavenge around bins etc? bus shelters are other good places to put posters up.Last edited: 2013-03-18 22:56:05 by ClaireC

Fitness First Head Office and gym is very close by. Might be worth putting a poster up there seeing as they have so many visitors on a daily basis.

I just simply hope that this poor dog is found soon and unharmed - its what he deserves right now. Arguing as to how he has been transported is neither here nor there now and the main thing to be concentrated on is finding him in the shortest possible time. I am sorry but I live too far away to be of any physical help but I am assuming that the relevant authorities will have been notified and a poster to each of them. Maybe the local Post Office sorting office would be able to display a poster and likewise local milkmen (if they exist).Last edited: 2013-03-18 22:58:40 by ClaireC

Ursu was delivered safely to his foster home in a car fitted with crates by our experienced driver. He wasn't lost in transit but escaped from what seemed to be a very secure garden by climbing over a gate. Last edited: 2013-03-18 18:13:57 by BaileyP

bessamour - please look up the method that the dog catchers in Romania use to catch stray dogs and you will understand why many Romanian dogs are fearful around the neck area. If a collar is terrifying - what do you think a slip lead would be like for a very neck shy dog? That is why we wanted him to be wearing a harness. Sadly, these things happen and judging by the thousands of lost pet dogs registered here, they happen to people who have owned their dogs for many years too. Even the most well trained dog can react in an unexpected way and these nervous dogs many more times so. which is why we brief new owners and fosterers before they pick up their dogs. Every lost dog is one too many.

Thanks again everyone who is able to help. We are so grateful for anyone in the area who can help putting up posters or with looking for Ursu. It's great news that he was sighted earlier. Xx

A wise and intelligent answer Spindle. How was the dog transported? In a cage or loose?
Spindle
Really hope this dog is caught, it will be so scared of traffic etc. Is there a dog it knows that came over at the same time that may help? Maybe in the future it would be worth thinking about crating scared dogs so the crate could be carried into a house from a car. Just a thought.

Fingers crossed that this boy is caught safe and well so he can have the happy life he deserves.

I've never commented before when rescue dogs escape, but it's happening far too often, sometimes when they are being transferred at service stations or lay bys or almost immediately at their new home/foster carer. If he couldn't wear a collar (?) and wasn't wearing a harness, anyone with a bit of doggy sense would have used a slip lead to get him into the house. They say it's unknown if he's wearing a tag! If he wasn't wearing a collar or a harness, where do they expect a tag to be?? This is far from being the first rescue to "escape" and I bet it won't be the last :-( :-(. I get so angry every time I see that rescue dogs have escaped and don't know the area.Last edited: 2013-03-18 12:16:01 by colliebird

I am from the rescue that brought Ursu to the UK. Ursu was known to be extremely collar shy due to severe abuse in Romania. We asked his carer in Romania to put a harness on him before he travelled as he is unable to wear a collar. Until the dog arrived, the fosterer had no idea that he didn't have a harness on as requested. I can assure everyone that all our foster and adoptive homes ara given extensive instructions about these dogs and their nervousness. Sadly, things happen which are out of our control but I want to reassure everyone that we take GREAT care of all our dogs and are fully aware of their needs. We are devastated about what has happened and will be very appreciative of any help local people can give our fosterer. Thank you - Bridget Jamieson xLast edited: 2013-03-18 11:49:47 by BaileyP

Fingers crossed they are able to catch her. Totally agree that it makes sense when you know a dog is going to be nervous , frightened and unsettled a collar and Lead are a must. It's common sense xLast edited: 2013-03-18 10:58:33 by debbie

I'm sorry some people won't like this but it makes my blood boil. These dogs come over here to a supposedly better life and all the time people are losing them. Why don't they have a collar with a lead attached all the time. They know they are nervous and have had a bad time. It's absolutely ridiculous. Poor Fetita had never been found xx
Maggie
cropped pic so Urus is in the centre, please refresh the page
debbie
Why do these dogs arrive with no collar, there seems to be quite afew rescued from Romania that run at the slightest chance so the answer is put a collar on them obviously. No offence to the owner , hope he's found soon poor boy he must be so scared.
