(crossposting only from an Animal Search UK website listing)
Dog was wandering on the playing fields at Truro School, Trennick Lane, Truro, Cornwall.
Fox red Labrador, very sweet girl. Has had puppies at some time.
Sounds very much like Ruby and I think someone has contacted owner.

- Thanks for contacting us about the pirate fm dog but not Ruby I am afraid from the description but I have sent an email to the lady just incase. No other news or sightings to report I am afraid. We still feel she is alive and out there somewhere, so again thank you to everyone who has put up posters and watching sights it is hard not to give up hope after this length of time but if a dog can survive she is intelligent enough to do so as she was not spayed she will have been in season by now so could well have a family!!! Who knows. Ann Rubys owner

- Hi Max -I have postered at Tresillian today.I went into the Garden center at the end of the village ( they have a poster) the Wheel inn where two customers took a poster that they were putting up in the farm shop at Probus and they were going to inform the gamekeeper at Trewithen House so he could keep an eye out.The very friendly lady in the local post office and several in the village and also on the back road to Truro ( Pencalenick school ,farm entrances and opp. Penair school)There were one or two posters I'd put in this area before and some had been removed.Anyway fingers crossed ,hope she is sighted soon.
- 2013-08-04 10:43 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- I have been out this morning & walked a stretch of the river from Tresillian towards St Clements (parked just up private lane of Pencalenick school). Spoke with local dog walker, was not aware of Ruby (is now).sadly I didn't have any posters as I don't have a printer, it would be good if anyone is near that end who could put some up. there are lots of firms & a couple of houses on the riverbank who may spot her if she goes there. I also spoke to landlord of The wheel Inn, he will keep an eye out (poster could maybe go there), there is a beer garden right on the river, it would be easy for Ruby to cross the river there as it is shallower/narrower. if no-one can poster this week, I will try & get back there next weekend if not sooner.
- 2013-08-02 15:48 millie
- I have postered the area around Malpas StClements and foothpaths leading to Park Farm.I called at the farm and the lady now has a poster and as far as she knows no one owns a Lab. in the area.(she has only a small group of neighbours)I really hope this could be Ruby and she is following the river home.
- 2013-08-02 08:31 millie
- Hopefully this is Ruby,I know exactly where this is and can go this afternoon.I postered that area a while ago and its the way home if she can get to Trsillian by following the river and then cross or get through the village by road and carry on to the small road at the end of the village that leads to Ruanlanihorne and the Roseland ( which is home??)
- 2013-08-01 17:49 Max - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
- I will be able to go & have a quick look on Saturday morning early, before I go shopping (I have to come to Truro) & I can do a search early Sunday morning if anyone wants to join me?
- 2013-07-31 21:29 Unknown
- Great to have some news. maybe she is sleeping in the barn/shed at the farm.if more sightings up that way maybe the owners can get a feeding station going up there.
- 2013-07-31 21:17 Moogie - Area Volunteer, Cornwall
- Just received this email from Ruby's owner:
I have had a message from the vets that they had someone ring in having seen a dog that matched the description of the one that has been on the poster in their window, running up Park Lane towards Park Farm at St Clemence Truro which is sort of below Truro Rugby Club. Maybe something or nothing James had a look as I was away but nothing he could not do much as he had to get back to the pheasants, may not be anything but you never know!
- 2013-07-26 20:19 Unknown
- I think we need new posters put up , there will be lots of holiday makers around and hopefully someone may spot her.
I wonder if it would be a good thing to also post where she first went missing?you never know she may go back that way.
Come on Ruby get sighted.x - 2013-07-07 10:10 reggiemollieros

- if Ruby is heading in a different direction perhaps she could be aiming for Tresillian. She could cross at the end of the river there but she would have to near Truro to get there. From Truro there is a route along the river to Tresillian. From the last sighting she would have to go through Coombe/Cowlands/Old Kea/Truro/Malpas/St.Clements/Tresillian - mostly rural land.I can help with postering this area if anyone wants me to...

- Jo no I'm not on facebook will have a go! Sad to hear there has been no sightings for a while but I'm sure with a weekly annoucement and a large ad in West Briton this could help ( if not done already)People living in rural areas could still possibly not know about Ruby and if she is travelling in a different direction ,the radio could be invaluable.Perhaps a new set of posters ,with a different or changed picture would help.Checking everyday here to see if any news.Fingers crossed for a sighting very soon....

- Wondering if owners have contacted Radio Cornwall for a weekly announcement on the air waves as this could be helpful. My neighbour heard of a cat ( differnt scenario I know ) that got lost.It jumped into a van in Falomuth and got out in Veryan where the ladies in a local school started to feed it.Some time later they heard on R.Cornwall about this lost cat and realised it was the one they were feeding. They contacted the owner soon after.I know it is a different situation but some people still do not know about lost Ruby.Maybe if they heard someone ,somewhere may start to feed her with the intention of trapping her? Also surely the vets should pay for an advert in the local West Briton with the photo of Ruby and explain the situation, spread the word is surely the best thing?....

- postered this morning nr.Cowlands area ( back of Telissick ) Loe beach,Feock,Restronguet,Halwyn and woodland area nr.Point and replaced some posters that were wet.Heard yesterday from Biddy that a lady ,who lives close to Cats Protection in Carnon Downs, said her neighbour saw a labrador in her garden about a week ago. That the time she didn't know about Ruby missing but it could have been Ruby.Did anyone hear about this?Hopefully fingers crossed someone will see her very soon

- Millie, sorry, I also don't have a printer, had to get a neighbour to do some for me, but I am too far away sadly to get some to you. If you are in Truro at any time, perhaps ask Highertown vets to give you some.(they should print some, as it went missing from there!)

- Thank you Millie for putting up posters and looking out for her. Biddy, I have suggested this to owner, so hopefully there's a sighting of her soon

- Hello! another new person who will try and keep an eye out for Ruby.Just an idea but..if Rubys owner gets within a few meters of her again ( hopefully soon ) then perhaps, instead of calling her,he gets down on all fours and starts wimpering and making dog like noises then, instead of running off, it might arouse her curiosity and she may go up to him. A chap in the same situation did this with his dog ( after calling it and it running off ) and it did eventually go up to him and his had been on the run for a few weeks also. It may work, best to try anything at this rate anyway. Will be walking around the Point/ Trelissick tomorrow evening on the lookout.
- 2013-05-04 15:22 millie
- hope you don't mind but have put up 5 posters in Point area ( on from Devoran ) as i copied posters from original I had seen ( replaced original ) as alot of people out there today.

- I am new to Doglost and am following sightings of Ruby.Went to Point this morning and told a gentleman who walks three dogs five days a week in Point,a couple walking their dog,a fisherman and a lady who lives on the river all now have details but none knew of Ruby missing. If I had a printer I could put posters up for you as none there along the lower road at Point.Does anyone know exactly where and what times shes been seen?I live 1-2 miles away so can check.

- Email from owner: Possible sightings around Point area from a man this morning, also reports to the harbour master or Truro river master!!! Of a dog in various places along the river sounding distressed. Being seen early mornings and evenings could be her but same story is it going to go over this evening. Now got river patrols looking as well so that is good.
Please bump due to new sightings - 2013-04-29 11:47 Tiana
- Spoke to owner, recent potential sighting of Ruby in woodlands near King Harry Feock & back down from Carnon Downs off B3289 to Point. Trelissick are aware but if anyone local could help re-poster would be appreciated.

- I dont think owner has registered so that's why she cant log on. I have suggested this to her already with the link to register.
- 2013-04-15 22:17 Lesley
- Have had email from owner today she still cant log on.There have been several sightings of a dog fitting Ruby's description near the King Harry ferry last Sunday, so she may be trying to get home. At the same time someone someone thought they saw her near Newmills.Owners have put up posters around the ferry and alerted Trelissick and suggests a look out be kept in both areas

- I'm free on Sunday to help with a search if owners want to do one or I can just update posters.I'll contact James tomorrow to see what is happening
- 2013-04-04 16:58 Tiana
- Spoken with owner this afternoon (& James). She is regularly sighted north of A390 between airfield & truro golf club in the rural area. Been 2 weeks, 2 days now, ideally still need to ensure any sightings are reported directly to owners to attend asap, as she is spooked by strangers. Notified airfield personnel who have poster now & contact details should their members spot. Also Golf Club updated. Fingers crossed Ruby's home safe soon.
Max/Lesley/Doglover - any chance you could update posters that are up, with a strapline saying "Recently spotted early April nearby, please keep an eye out & call if you spot her?" just to re-engage locals? Owners out tonight searching, but if you're free at the weekend or other volunteers??? maybe we could all meet to cover a triangular area to help them.
- 2013-04-03 21:29 Moogie - Area Volunteer, Cornwall
- Owner is having problems logging on to update and see comments. A text to the owner offering any help would be a good idea. Ruby spotted again. This is the email from her:
Seen again in same valley twice today, must be out enjoying the sunshine, boys now left to look again, seen close to the house of a friend of ours so he is keeping the locals posted. Took one of our other dogs with us and James walked all around with him so hope that has freshened up the scent.

- Owner has not been able to log on but this is part of email I received from her: We have seen her a couple of times in the past two days and have left James
jacket and the landrover in this area but to no avail.
Today we actually saw her ourselves and James got within 100 yards of her to
whistle her, she fled immediately. To say how distressing it was to watch
this happen is beyond words not for myself but for him. They have such a
special bond it has to be seen to be believed.

- Could anyone please poster the area around the woods near to highertown vets? I think there a lots of walking areas where people walk their dogs. It could be where she's hiding out and hunting

- I've spoken to owner this morning and Ruby is a working dog so will be used to hunting and being outside but she is timid and unlikely to go to anyone. She also doesn't know the area at all. Is there anyone who can get out and about in Truro and put some posters up?

- I’ve found that it helps to print out an A4 sheet of paper cut into business-card size slips, each with brief details and your phone number on. Give them to all the local dog walkers, postmen etc. you meet. Then if someone has news when they’re out and about they don’t need to find a poster or log on to the site to contact you.
