- So pleased that Aero is now home safe and well. It's so good how DL folk get word around, and so much effort is put in by so many. I help out in BN14 (Worthing) but my son lives in Northchapel and he was out looking with his dog. His went missing last year and he and Bracken are well known in the area. I think most of the village were out searching for her. She returned home in the early hours of a morning and was whimpering by the door. Think someone may have had her and realised she was a'hot dog'. She looked as if she had been groomed. There was no mud between her pads and there would have been had she been wandering around woods and fields. DL site is wonderful!

- Aero is home.
Team work did it.
I got to Hampers Green and he was on the green there I could not believe my eyes.
I then threw the ball in the air but he was not interested in it at all.
Lucky for me there was a lady and a man looking for him also and to cut a long story short we managed to coax him into a really nice helpful ladies garden and she opened her side door and he went in to eat the cat food and the door was closed on him GAME OVER.
His owner is having him chipped asap
Welcome home Aero you stay safe now young man xxxxLast edited: 2013-03-31 20:20:19 - 2013-03-31 17:43 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- You beat me to it Sammie!
- 2013-03-31 17:30 Sammie
- Have emailed mistynsashasmum with the information sheets I sent out. I think Clarkey may do the same. Thank you so much for helping with this dog, as you say not many volunteers in this area and no volunteer co-ordinator close by.

- Mistynsashasmum I think you are doing excellently it is very difficult when dogs bolt and your plans are just what I would be doing - so sorry I am not closer to lend a hand but I am thinking of you and willing Aero to be caught. Good luck and everything crossed. J. x

- If he is going back towards the Petworth Park car park, would he be able to get over that monstrous cattle grid ? Scares me to death.
Good luck to everyone helping Aero today, wish I was nearer . - 2013-03-31 13:47 Unknown
- Hi yes Sammie I know the owner is not on this page when I spoke to him he has asked me to keep it updated it was his daughter who actually registered Aero on here.
I do not have any advice sheets and am only going by what I have learned on D/L we also do not have many helpers in this area either and it is not easy to remember everything in telephone calls.
I am going over there around 4pm and will do a walk round I will stay in the area for about 3 hours I will go prepared the owner told me also he loves playing ball so will also if I spot him start playing with it.
Aeros owner is a lovely man just desperate to get his dog home like all the other owners on here. He goes straight out on a sighting of him.
Just forgive me if I seem a bit thick but I suppose I just need the reassurance I am doing the right thing.Last edited: 2013-03-31 13:50:09 - 2013-03-31 12:37 Sammie
- When I spoke with the owner I told him to take something and he was going to take the dogs blanket out from the back of the car. He has received all the instructions included how to plot, so yes plotting would be useful to see if you can locate Aero's movements. I did explain to the owner that dogs often go back to the place where they were lost and gave him examples of dogs recently found (when they returned some 29 hours later to that spot). The owner is not checking this page so any advice for him please call him - someone else registered the dog for him.Last edited: 2013-03-31 12:38:59 by Sammie

- Report by Dog Warden;
Sighted again at Hampers Green approx 1hr ago heading toward Northchapel owner went out there straight away but he was no where to be seen.
I am wondering now if he is doing the triangle thing they do as he could from here be heading back to where he was lost we have; Moor Farm Hampers Green and Petworth Park just across the road.
Would it be an idea to leave something of the owners in the place he went missing from?
Such a horrible road the Northchapel road is.
Please Stay Safe Aero why not go home xxxx
- 2013-03-31 09:44 Unknown
- Just spoken to the owner again and he seems to think Aero will have to be trapped as he does not approach people and has no interest really in other dogs.
I will go over later today with some treats and a slip lead as the daughter is unable to make it (you never know if he might come to me if I see him) I will try the trick of lying on the ground and take things really slowly.
The D/W is going to try to get a trap on Tuesday thanks John everything closed until then so we really need to keep Aero in this area so his owner is leaving food down where he has been seen twice now (but of course a fox or badger ect might get to it first) this is so frustrating.
Stay where you are Aero and stay safe xxxx - 2013-03-30 18:56 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- So glad you have had a sighting. Agree with advice re quiet approach .. turning away whilst dropping smelly food may work. Getting daughter over wld be a great help and she shld take this approach too. Make it smelly stinky food (sardines, strong sausages) that you put down at food station and when enticing! Best of luck to you and come on Aero .. it's home time!

- Thank you for bumping Aero's page.
Yes thanks Ashmark I had thought of this but forgot like an idiot to mention it to Aero's dad.
Aero belonged to the daughter of the gentleman who now owns Aero and hopefully she will go over tomorrow and to see if he will approach her if he is still around this area as she had him for five years and his new dad has only had him two weeks (although Aero of course does know him but not as much as he knows his daughter)
I had a really long conversation with Aero's new dad and he said also that there is a lot of food stuff around this area so fingers crossed he will stay in the area.
I will wait to see what happens tomorrow.
I asked Aero's dad to keep me informed he said he would as if there is anything I can do I will and definitely will go over that way.
The one thing we do not want to do is to scare him off though. - 2013-03-30 17:01 Sammie
- Have phoned and spoken to owner as I had sent full information sheets previously. Have advised now to try and keep him in one area, set up feeding station and gone over how to try and catch him using similar method to Ashmarks Suggestions or even laying down if neccessary. Owner now going back up to leave food where he last saw him.
- 2013-03-30 16:13 Carol
- Bumped , try playing with a ball that might entice him over xx
- 2013-03-30 15:52 AlisonH
- Don't know if anyone has mention this but instead of approaching Aero try dropping to the ground and whimpering quietly. For some reason it seems to make the dog curious. Let the dog come to you and sniff you before moving at all then quietly pop a slip lead over his head. It worked for me.

- So pleased to see that you are on the case Janet, I was going to call you this evening! Good news that there has been a sighting, hopefully owner can entice him with food? I cannot get over until Monday, but fingers and paws crossed little Aero is back home by then. Please let me know how it goes. Jen xxx

- Just spotted at Moor Farm but bolted when his owner approached him in quite manner.
Any ideas here please people like maybe setting up a feeding station and trap as we have a possitive sighting please can this page be bumped?
Come on Aero go home darling xxxxLast edited: 2013-03-30 14:21:51 - 2013-03-30 13:16 Unknown
- I have just spoken to Aeros dad on the telephone and he is doing so much to try to find him.
Vets and D/Wardens aware ect.
I suggested he put it in the Midhurst and Petworth Obsever this week as he is not chipped and word would get out to so many people this way.
There are posters going up and searching being done but what is needed now is another positive sighting (fingers crossed for this)
He seems to be heading toward Billinghurst so I am wondering if it is possible to alert more postcodes around that area please?
Come on Aero been seen and stay safe until you are found darling xxxx - 2013-03-29 17:07 Wendy
- I do hope that Aero is soon found safe and well. I have family in Northchapel and have asked to put word around and keep look out when out dog walking. Local shop will also spread word and maybe put poster up.
- 2013-03-28 14:57 Sammie
- Email from owner that they are still looking for Areo
- 2013-03-26 22:41 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks to everyone posting help and sdvice. Mike .. rather out of my area but you may find this helpful. Try to poster everywhere and anywhere you can to get the word out. Remember to keep in constant contact with the vets, rescue homes and the dog wardens in your area. Also if Aero has been picked up by someone it often happens that they travel back home to their area and then report it so put his info everywhere .. here is the link for the dog wardens phone numbers in your and surrounding areas .. http://www.animalwardens.co.uk/lost-found-dogs-search/all-dog-warden-phone-numbers. This site is another for Aero to be registered on if you hv not done so already and you can check all the 'found' dogs too. Give posters to postmen, milkmen, taxi drivers, bus drivers, ice cream van drivers, schools (children are good at spotting things!), post offices, doctors surgeries etc. POSTER POWER works .. it just takes that one person to see and ring you. If you or anyone you know is on Facebook ask them to share this page. Same goes for tweeting. Just get the word out to as many people as poss. Hope you get some good news soon.

- Sorry Aero is missing. Have shared on facebook as have a couple of friends around that area. I also sometimes walk around Flexham area so will keep a look out. I think the dog warden for Chichester area lives in Petworth so may be worth a call if you haven't already done so. We found a dog in Flexham last year and he was very helpful. It took a while to find out which wardens and local authorities cover each area and were passed from Horsham to Arun and then Chichester.... Hope you find Aero soon. PS: There is also a lady who runs gundog training in that vicinity who might be worth contacting - business is called 'train that dog', I think she lives nearby and also undertakes training sessions at various outside locations?

- So sorry that little Aero is missing. Have you spoken to Petworth Park authorities and the school and other nearby shops, businesses etc? I am sure that he will be found soon, but the Observer are very good at putting missing dogs in the paper as are West Sussex Gazette. Viv the local dog warden is very helpful too I find. I will ask a couple of friends who live local to keep a look out. Fingers crossed he turns up soon xxx
