Great news :)

Lucy was picked up 2 1/2 miles from home. She was found hiding in a rabbit hole by a man out walking his dog. She was clean and fit but very hungry, and is now sleeping off her adventure.

I am so pleased for you, your mum and of course Lucy. I have left my mobile at work and was worried that I would miss any important calls so this is one less to worry about.

Pleased to hear that you have managed to catch up with Owl (as she is known on doglost) I hope there will be good news soon.

Thanks to Phoebe from DogLost in Derbyshire, I have one of their Listening Devices and I am heading to Devon to see if Lucy really is down a hole. The only other option is that she was taken by someone or escaped from the hole but got lost and has wandered. Any advice welcome!

Thanks very much everyone for your help, we've followed advice and also contacted Natural England who advised on the Badger Set rules, as we haven't heard her whimper we can't be sure she is stuck down the set but seems likely. Anyone who can help or has any suggestions please get in touch, the regional coordinator suggested using a listening device or rigging something up....sadly still no sign of Lucy as of this morning.

I have shared across local Exeter sites, so more people can be aware and look out for your lost dog. Advice from the RSPCA site, is "The dog may be enticed out of the sett with some strong smelling food, usually a dog will make its way back out within 24 hours, however if you think she may be stuck then call the RSPCA emergency on 0300 1234 999, where they will be able to help.

I have spoken to owner's daughter and made some suggestions. Lucy is only 7 months old, another of owners other dogs showed a lot of interest at one of the many holes on this bank.
