PS re your post about MPs - all dogs must have passports already under the DEFRA guidelines I mention, in order to travel out the UK, unless going to Ireland. However, they still need a passport to travel out of Ireland so you still can't get round the rules. I can't see how this pup can have escaped the regulations, it's too difficult when a thief can sell this type of dog for ?1000 in the UK and make a profit.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I might be going mad... but as my understanding of DEFRA rules go is that a dog must be at least 7/8 months old before it can leave the country. How the heck would this dog get to Germany without someone noticing?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

no i dontthink he is in army i believe from info already received that he is someone who is sent over to collect these dogs and yes i believe there are a lot of them and then get them over to europe i have someone over in germany who should be on holiday but is actually looking at all kennels police have already verified that the address given is false and that an old couple have lived there for years will have to wait till next week for police to get in touch as he is on a course this week its time for everyone out there to start writing to their mp's to make it so that all dogs have to have a passport like horses this way no one would find it easy to take them out of this country not even to ireland. I have already acquired several hundred pictures of dogs in the travelling world as i suspect 99% of these animals are stolen will keep you up to date with any more newsLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

at long last owner has been assigned a police office who is turning out to be brilliant. he has already contacted bedfordshire address that was originally given turned out to be an old couple who has lived there years run into obstacle at nat west bank who at this point are refusing to help however officer has applied for something or other to get the info re cheque (certainly wont put any business their way) will keep everyone informed as ans when i can all ports and channel tunnel authorities should all have a photo of this dog by end of this week i have asked them for all details of any dogs like this going through ports. in meantime have got people photographing all dogs in travellers camps i want to build up a library of them this way hopefully i can find out which are stolen and which are notLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keep your foot on the pedal and don't let up on the poilce for a moment. Keep pushing that this is a CRIME- get a crime number too. Ask the ports to put posters up on their boat/ ferries etc as well as the ports themselves. Hope to hear good news soon. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know that the police don't like to act... but this man fraudelently bought a dog... and the owners bank has a cancelled cheque. Now if he cancelled it, the signatory must have used a genuine bank account, which will have a genuine address linked to it. It only takes a phone call from the police to the bank concerned to get this information released - all in the investigation of a crime. You'll have to fight the police to get them to do this - but it should be something you should follow up immediately.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to hear the owners have suffered more grief this week. I hope Ainsley is found safely very soon. What a dreadful situation for them but he is very distinctive looking which should help. Praying he's back soon. RxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

the person that collected the dog is as far as we know british he had an accent though the original caller said they were from bedfordshire this guy had more of an accent from the north however the name on the cheque was asian. we do have quite a bit more info but we are at this point keeping it under wraps. however now photos on way to all airports here and in ireland plus ports and ferry companies if it takes for ever i hunt the b....r's down. with recent missing dog local police officer said he didn't know of any animals that had been reported stolen/ missing. funny that as the owner went in in person to report it we must educate our law officers on what to then people like us wouldn't be needed. i will keep u posted as and when i canLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi update on ainsley owner now has a crime number for this (phew why do we have to fight so hard) we do know of a phone number now that may or may not be connected going to pass it to police and see what happens. keep you up to day when and where the news comes inLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Technically this is obtaining goods by deception, so I presume the owner has contacted the police. I don't suppose for one moment that this is the first time this character has pulled this stroke, so there ought to be some sort of intelligence. Presumably Ainsley would have needed a pets passport. Which vet did that. Those who know more might be able to advise on what records customs/port keep on passport movements.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can sort out the media, but German newspaper market is quite different from the UK. One thing on our side is the fact that animals have equal rights to humans in Germany and there are regulations to 'encourage' responsible dog ownership. I don't suppose there are any geographical clues are there ? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My uncle said the newspaper in Germany is 'Bild Zeitung'. They don't have loads like us. But don't know contact number. He suggested trying 'Reuters' in London, they may be able to help. I did a google search on 'Dog Breeders Germany' and it pulled up some sites which might be useful. Hope this helps. Good luck. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I take it he would have gone to Germany with the dog so he's gone through our ports. If you could narrow the date down there's just a chance of tracking him. He might have been seen? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hope Ainsley can be located soon. Try the bulldog breeders and rescues to see if they can help. Also people in the breed will notice a new bulldog or may have contacts abroad who could look out. Dolly 6.2.05Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

B***** hell, what we do these days to get dogs!!!!!!, but this has got to be the lowest of the lowest!!!!!! I really hope Ainsley is home soon for the sake of everyone. Does the breeder have a picture of this little guy. To be honest it is going to be like looking for a needle in haystack, but I have a feeling he will be back home soon.
