I have moved houses several times over the past few years each time I have registered my 3 dogs with a new vet .Not one vet checked for a chip which to me is shocking.I hope Poppy is found never give up on hope.

Sadly still missing xx

As a retired dog warden I too am shocked that many vets do not scan 'new' dogs a client may bring to their surgeries......perhaps things will improve when they start to push micro chipping when we get nearer to it becoming law....I pushed chipping for years being the 'thing of the future' and I am now disheartened with the policy as vets throughout the country don't scan. I do hope they find their dachs I am a big dachs lover....!

I'm really shocked by this. I thought all vets scanned for chips. Hopefully they will from now on. Sorry Poppy's still missing. Don't give up hope

Jayne some vets do check and hopefully now that you're vet is aware that Poppy is missing they'd check if a similar dog comes into the surgery. Sorry your little one is still missing XX
Jayne
Am absolutely gutted - just had to take another dog to my vets for treatment and was chatting to receptionist who didn't know Poppy was missing. She told me that the vets NEVER check any dogs chip to check if the details are correct so all hope of finding Poppy through someone else taking her to the vets have vanished in a second. Anyone could say they had just bought a new dog and no one would question its history - WHY?????
Jayne
Thank you all so much for still keeping an eye out for Poppy - just for a moment I got very exited! She is chipped so I know that if she was handed in to the dog warden he would contact me. I still look for her everywhere I go but I doubt she is still local - I suspect she was taken out of county, maybe by holiday makers or perhaps taken to order. I just have to learn to be patient and hope fate brings us back together.

Sent photo of Poppy to friend, its not the same dog. She has seen it since to confirm, so obviously lives nearby where she drives past. Have the owners recontacted the local Dog Warden Service to see if she's been handed in since? God bless she's found save soon.

Thanks Tiana, I've emailed owner with info

Any recent sightings of Poppy? Heard today that a friend spotted a Dachs' that looked like a stray near Threemilestone last week. They tried to encourage it to come to them, but no luck. Will check exact details, time/place & whether it could be here.. if so need to poster parameter asap.

We all need to keep a vigilant eye on anyone who has perhaps recently acquired a Dachshund or been offered one, a reward usually helps.Last edited: 2013-04-28 19:40:02 by Daxielady

Thanks Spindle, I think local rabbit holes have been checked and their other dogs have also walked the area. Poppy is definitely still missing

Sorry to see that POPPY is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk

  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
