  • Other Info We rehomed a yellow Labrador by the name of Doogle last July and sadly the home that took him cancelled their cheque, refused to let us visit the dog which is all contrary to their adoption agreement with us as we retained the ownership of the dog. We have been trying to trace this dog ever since to no avail and we are concerned for his well being. He was homed in the Blackdam area of Basingstoke and has a microchip number of 977200007286122 which will show up as Stolen from us the Labrador Lifeline Trust.

So pleased you have tracked him down. Well done Lab. Welfare Trust. When he has lost his excess weight, and his eczena is under control will he be adopted by someone who will look after him properly? So pleased he is in capable hands?-)

Delighted to say that Doogle was re-possessed by Labrador Lifeline Trust this morning and apart from being grossly overweight, eczema and living in cramped conditions he is well and now back with us. Thank you to everyone that gave us support and help.

Let me just try and answer some of the queries. All our homes are very carefully homechecked with all members of the family being present as it was in this instance. Doogle had not been castrated as the vet we use wanted to do it when he had settled down as he was on his third home at 10 months. We had agreed with the adopter that we would pay for this and because it appeared to be the ideal home we allowed them to take Doogle. We have a system whereby we physically check up on all dogs at 2 weeks and 6 months and then 12 months. Doogle had his 2 week visit and all was well. After this we tried to contact the adopter top have Doogle castrated but eventually discovered that the male partner had left the home and taken the dog with him. All we could get was a mobile number for him and he would only text us but refused to let us know where the dog was. He has since stopped answering our texts and the last swe heard he was living in Newbury with his sister as he frequently attends Basingstoke Hospital as an in-patient for treatment. We know that he was a lorry driver but nothing more is known. We have been actively seeking this dog for 9 months now and reported the matter to Basingstoke Police who were not interested and dismissed it as a civil matter. Our solicitor has written to the partner who issued the cheque but no reply and the phone is permanently engaged. We have made two visits to the home but there has been no reply. As we own the dog his microchip is in our name and we have informed them that the dog has been stolen. We have been working very hard to recover this dog but to no avail. We have even had the services of a local PI who could find no trace. Doogle is registered with Pet24 on tage number 40101131 and they are aware that he is stolen and their records reflect this. I doubt he still has this tag. Our PI trawled the local vets and informed them but again nothing has been heard. The Trust have done everything possible to trace this dog and we are concerned about him and his wellbeing. I am happoy to answer any further questions you may have and thank you for the help already offered.

Okay loads of questions....lets try and answer them with us emailing local dog owners....remember we are just a way of contacting dog owners...(actually a very effective way) maybe the peeps have just heard of us? Alerts sent to helpers in RG21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29.

Some good suggestions under, I suggest you also contact the local Dog Warden and all local vets to see if he had been registered.
Why wait till 04/13 to trace the dog if the cheque was cancelled in 07/12? Can you please give more details and if there is a crime reference number if you think the dog has been taken without payment as per the contract I presume you had with the adopters?Last edited: 2013-04-27 19:59:14 by Sammie

I would hope the rescue coordinator must have an address for the new home.... unless they've moved (?) If Rescue are unable to visit personally, for whatever reason... I'm not that far, 20 mins max - I'm happy to go and have a look, see if there's a dog there - don't have to knock the door to find out, shouldn't be that difficult. Please let me know if I can help - sandywaterton@gmail.com (is the man in the photo the new owner?)
