- Pleased to see this one seems to have been resolved - the Xbreed explanation makes sense to me. I have a black lab X, there's something lurcherish in him somewhere so he's mostly lab looking with a teeny weeny waist (!) and I do get people thinking he's half starved! - especially as I also have his sister who is a far more typical lab shape.

- Glad to see a result. Thanks Tiana, & thanks for your text.My computer is down at the moment, so catching up on a friends. xx

- Tiana thanks for the post , I hope you are right :-) just one point it was a man that first sighted this dog the second sighting was the lady who said it had a red collar , thank you for your fantastic help , I will make the trip to Cornwall Nxt week to see for myself , yes as you say best leave posters up for a while incase it's the wrong dog xxx

- All`s well that ends well then?

- Hi Carol, understand your continued concern but we were on the ground yesterday & found original lady who reported initial thin thin dog. It is the same dog with owners of 5 years. Apparently its not full labrador so when she respotted it yesterday realised the body weight was to be expected & that in effect its not as thin thin as first thought. We have left the posters up in the event that we may be wrong, but believe this was unfortunately a false alarm. All the key individuals in the village now will contact Dog Lost should they ever see a stray dog again in the area, which is progress. Best regards from Cornwall.

- Why was there dog scavaging bins if it was well fed , no something isn't right here sorry to be negative to Tiana but I have followed this dog for so long to be convinced of this story there were no sightings of a collar when first seen on the 8/5/13 will keep informed of anything I can discover , Tiana please don't discourage bin men etc just yet , thank u for what you have done xx
- 2013-05-23 09:44 Carol
- Hi Cindy yes it does say a lady in her car saw a lab type dog in the bins with a red collar which I believe is the one belonging to the people yesterday , I believe there is a very very thin lab still out there , I am in Scotland at the moment on holiday but are back home on Saturday and will go to Cornwall for Nxt bin day as I believe the 2 dogs are different..... this is just my opinion if I draw a blank fine but if I see the dog I will act accordingly , a massive thanks to all concerned xxx

- The collar was mentioned on the 15th May by ESSJ - which was mentioned by a lady who was driving by when she saw the dog. So sad it is not Rene, I was really hoping it was. I guess the only good thing is that more people have become aware of Doglost, and maybe that will be more people will be out looking for Rene. As they say as one door closes another one opens. Thank you to everyone who offered support for this, sadly not the outcome we wanted, but at least it was a good outcome.

- Hi everyone, after a day of postering Mullion & engaging the lovely locals with our search, we believe we found this dog.
Unfortunately it is not Rene, but am pleased to report this other dog (a boy wearing a red collar) was again spotted late this afternoon by a lady helping us. She jumped out of her car to try to capture it, only to discover that its owners were walking a way behind it, with it off the lead. She stopped & spoke with them at lengths. They were not aware of its mistaken identity & it was confirmed to be the same dog that had been raiding the bins locally.
We are therefore calling off the search & returning the Dog Trap to K9 Crusaders who kindly loaned it too us. We will leave the posters in place for a few days just to help raise further awareness for Dog Lost (as many locals offered to sign up as future volunteers)& will remove when next over that way. I will also notify the dustmen, local postmen & others we met with today as they were continuing to be our eyes on the ground. Sorry its not good news re Rene, but pleased we found the true story behind this other little boy. Thanks Max & others for all your efforts beforehand. - Hi I saw this earlier on Oscars page on FB and commented. I am part of Team Dinky. We managed to catch Dinky ID 48996 by trapping her after setting a feeding station up at some wheelie bins she had been seen at several times scavenging. We asked the owner if they would leave the bins out for a few days to give us a chance to catch her. They agreed, so it may be worth asking if they can be left out to help you. Good luck to you all who are helping catch this poor dog xx

- Hi Tiana, have been in Mullion on business today, but sadly cannot make it again this week. I did have another look in the area while I was there, but no sightings at all. I think the Sw co-ordinator has my number, but I will text it again, so she can pass it on to you if you need to speak tomorrow.

- Just heard about this one, I live 30 mins away so will try to help where poss. Have requested loan of dog trap that me & another used previously, to successfully capture another. We are both free on Wedsnesday, so plan to be in the vicinity on the look out.
Have also contacted CORY who do the domestic rubbish collections in the surrounding areas & especially on Wednesday, their drivers will now keep a look out & telephone should they get a decent sighting. Max are you free to join us? Could you pass on your details via the SW Coordinator to me (not online), so we can identify where Delphine actually is. Thank you. - 2013-05-20 09:50 cindy
- Any more sightings or news about this dog? Max do you plan to go out again or are you going to wait for bin day? I wish I lived nearer to help you all. x

- Sorry, there were no sightings last night. I spoke to a lady (Delphine) who had seen the dog raiding her bins. She says it had longer hair than a Lab, & was wearing a red collar. (but could still be Rene?) I walked the area, which is a mix of country lanes & housing estate. I spoke to some people & no-one had seen this dog. I sat for a few hours in the car, with a bowl of smelly sardines nearby, but nothing other than some curious cats.
There are posters up in the village, & I spoke to some people walking their dog who are aware of Rene (& this dog if it is another), & they will keep an eye out. One lady said all strays seem to end up in her garden, so she will do her best! There are lots of places for this dog to hide as it is rural/coastal but with plenty of housing too.
Delphine, will try to get a photo if it returns.

Thanks so much to the wonderful people who are trying to save this dog. All I can say is that a Labrador will return your efforts ten fold with love and loyalty. GOOD LUCK!

- fingers crossed this dog shows itself again soon and can be lured by the kind lady offering to set up a feeding station. Labradors kept outside have very thick almost woolly coats and can almost look like they have a mane. x

- Hi there, I understand that this may be Rene....I am also looking for a black Labrador called Alfie Black who is registered on this site and has been missing for 22 months, yesterday. If you do manage to catch this dog and it is not Rene, please let me know. I can be contacted on 07575 206001 or Twitter to @AlfieBlack or @keeptrustalways or FB as Wood Dryad. Thanks so much and keep up the great work....Susan

- Hi Max, Cindy, Carol etc. Just had a phonecall in to say that a black labrador like looking dog has been sighted again this morning scavenging the bins. The lady was driving past in her car and saw the dog in Redannack (sp) North - when she turned and went back it had gone. She lives on The Commons- her bins are recently very often ripped apart and she has said that she is willing to help set up feeding station and possibly a trap if we can get one there. Something is visiting her garden regularly. She believes that he/she was wearing a red collar as she saw a flash of red.Have just spoken to René's owner and she said it is still possible that it may be René though her coat was short at the time she went missing. Max- if you are about could you give me a ring or text please and i will phone you back.Jules- have tried to get hold of you- will try again shortly x Bumping both pages just in case x

- I spoke to the owner of Rene this morning (ref 46242), to get some info with a view to doing a 'watch' in the area. She spoke to the man yesterday, who spotted this dog. He said the dog had longer fur, and hers has a very short coat. It has not been seen since, but they will keep an eye out today, as it is 'bin' day, to see if it appears.
- 2013-05-14 21:28 cindy

- I have posted on Renes thread to say I am willing to go over one evening & stay in the area for a while to see if this dog shows itself. It may come out when it is quieter. I have a doggy friend who will come with me, we just need to co-ordinate. This dog is worrying me too.

- 2013-05-13 20:05 Unknown
- Carol, Rene's owners have been posting in the area.......it could be possible it is a lurcher type that has now returned home.Too far away for me to do much but I have posted 3 dogs which have been missing down here for a while now on facebook doglost cornwall if you can get on there.I have not heard if there has been any more sightings, so maybe nothing t oreport as of yet.
- 2013-05-13 20:05 cindy
- Hi Carol, I cant understand either why they haven't been to the area. Would it be worth contacting the owner of Rene, maybe her internet is down and she is not aware of what is going on!
- 2013-05-13 17:11 Carol
- Bump x
- 2013-05-13 10:15 Carol
- Hi Sammie so the dog warden is aware ! It's so worrying as its nearly a week since it was sighted and I have never felt this way about a sighted dog , I think its because there were no comments so I had to get the ball rolling to make people aware , if this is potentially Rene I can't understand why they haven't been here , maybe they are busy or something or on holiday , will keep waiting for news thanks Sammie again xx
- 2013-05-13 09:27 Sammie
- Carol a lady on FB has confirmed to me that "If its the one in Mullion, I am sure a message was left for the Dog Warden when sighted but did not receive a call back". So it was acted on, maybe the DW didn't get the first message.

- I have bumped Rene's page, her owners are aware that this one has been sighted and will poster the area. If anyone can confirm the sex of this one it will be easier to trace the owner. Can a local person feed it regularly, same time, same place each day? Only needs to be a small amount.
