Must say, slightly saddened that GMTV has brought nothing so far. But I still have high hopes for this week. The support from you doglovers and dogmissers is so important. Your friends often think your mad to keep on looking so thanks Garthy, Hugo, Mymarie, Bugs, Debs (tinkerbell) and of course Candy - you give so much to other people. And the more you give, the more unmistakable and umissable Dolly becomes. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hang on in there - keep going she is out there somewhere. Unfortunately it is now becoming trendy to have a little dog like this in a designer bag. It is a ridiculous trend started by so called celebrities. Unfortunately I don't live in your area to help but will certainly keep a look out. Keep your chin up. You've got to keep going for her sake. I know this sounds obvious and I know you will have done it - local kennels etc. This is a busy time of year and it may be a shot in the dark but to see if anyone has put her in whilst going away. Good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for all your support. I wish I'd said more clearly on GMTV that whoever has bought her just needs to tell Doglost or the police and I'll give them whatever they paid for her. I don't want to cause any more pain or trouble to anyone. I just want her to be home. Let's hope her new owner twigs. I'll go anywhere to collect her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have only just come across this forum, having registered as a helper a few months after Little Boo went missing. Having read the threads from the beginning - oh Jayne I wish I had been on here when you were looking for help and had to come down. I'd have been there before you got in the car. I have pm'd Lori and offered my help now. One thing that jumps to mind, having been through Camden on the canal, have you put word to the resident boat owners along there Lori. If you head back toward the Portobella area along the tow path you will find lots of permanent and visting moorings. Knowing the boating community I am sure they will willingly put posters in their windows and keep an eye out. Worth a go if you haven't already. If I think of anything else I will let you know. All the best, Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

to colliemad, basil and candy and everyone else who's still helping me find my dog - I thank you. I think I'll get her back home - she might be in a right old state - but I think she's in Camden. Not far. And I think the person who has her could return her back to me and I'd pay some money. She's my little girl and I think he probably knows now that she's stolen and needs to be at home again. But of course he loves her - anyone would. But she misses her mum, he knows that, and he could make a little dog very happy.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't let anyone make you feel bad, I didn't think it made you sound as if you didn't love Balou, if anything I was crying because I could feel your pain at losing little Balou!!! Thanks for your messages. I got a phone call tonight from someone who was very upset that I said on TV I'd never get another chihuahua as tho I didn't love my dog. But of course they cut off the previous bit where I said I'd do anything to get my dog back and you love your dog, not its breed. And I said that all kinds of dogs are stolen, but anything that makes your dog more desireable to other people, like trends, should be avoided because it's so painful to lose your dog. And they cut out all the people I mentioned including Dolly's Directive and Doglost - so sorry. I just hope it did more good than harm.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks everyone for continuing support. I've not been OK, really. I don't know if anyone can understand this, but I got to the point that I found it hard to check all the mails and sites. It's the worst thing to stop doing, but it's hard to deal with disappointment all the time. I hoped I'd be stronger for longer. BRIGHTON CHIHUAHUA - spotted by Pearly's mother and a couple who are from North London but remembered the posters. THIS IS NOT MY DOG. She is called Bambi and is owned by a slightly elderly couple who take her to Somerfields every Monday. The London couple very kindly asked questions and sent me a pic. And it's not Little Boo. But thanks again Pearly and the couple who remembered the posters and rang.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

PEARLY - thanks so much for continuing to look out for Balou. You are so kind. The Regents Park dog with the Asian looking lady is indeed a dog, not a bitch and doesn't look entirely dissimilar to Little Boo. Sounds like she was also looking at you just in case! Hope you don't take this wrongly. Ideally, I'd like to have a map of where our sandy, shorthaired chihuahuas are all over the country so that I'd know which are not my beloved Boo. About to post about Brighton seperately. thanks again!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello NiK. Yes, shame about Crufts. I was in touch with the BBC too and they replied to my mail, but seemed not to have read it. They just kind of sent their condolences... Which is not what we want - WE WANT HELP - don't we? Anyway, this Bark in the Park thing is worth following up on and I'm going to see if they'll consider uniting. I don't see why they shouldn't as I think that they want to raise money for assistance dogs and we want to raise awareness and certain issues and get Dolly's Directive signed. So should be a happy marriage, no?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

ANOTHER POSSIBLE SIGHTING IN CHELSEA. Anyone there who could talk to and poster vets would be great. Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens have been quite well postered, but there are a lot of private gardens around there, so vets and petshops would be great. I don't think I can get there until weekend of 18th March. So any help....!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The BBC and Animal Planet determine what they cover. Crufts organisers are not interested in what they regard as periphery and will be keen to push activities which promote their sponsors. Had DogLost been at Crufts, then it would have been in a better position to push the issue. Hopefully that will change for next year.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Basil! Yes, I can't understand why Crufts which is the Kennel Club has not picked up on all the recent press. Can anyone name a national press organisation that hasn't featured this in the last 2 months? (TV, radio, newspapers - usually thanks to Doglost) Amid the daily news, they find this issue worth reporting and yet the Kennel Club, whose audience is SO specific, will not use its national and international TV audience to address the subject. Astounding. Must it take another year for them to react? We already know that this is the fastest increasing crime in the UK. Let's not get stuck on those who should and don't. Bark in the Park was announced on Crufts. I think it's a fundraiser for assistance dogs and there's no reason that DOGS AGAINST THEFT shouldn't unite with them.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I saw last night that one of the 'hero' dogs that you could vote for was a Dogslost dog?! I have to say that some of the features they had on last night would have been better replaced with someone on the sofa talking about these issues! Good luck! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Candy and Basil. Truth is, a bit frustrated that Crufts haven't done more. There is a stand there, but Dolly's Directive is so much more powerful about the real issues. It's late in the day, and I have already tried, but I'll try again to get me and Candy on the telly. With so much coverage from mainstream media, I am gobsmacked that Crufts won't do more.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dear Zoe, Balou and I are so glad that you have become a Dogspotter! Thank you so much for looking out for her. I know that she is very keen to come home. I have been told by people who have found their dogs that it is very often children who find them. It's because children like you ALWAYS notice dogs and grown-ups don't always pay attention (except your mum). If you hear of anyone with a New Dog like Balou. It might be her! It's so nice to know that you are looking out for her too. When she comes home, we could meet in the park so that she can say thanks to you herself! Lots of love, LoriLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

IDENTIFICATION OF SIMILAR DOGS IN NORTH LONDON - Dear Basil the Baby Boxer and all North London Dogspotters, I've just met up with Pearly. She lives not far from me and so does a man with blonde curly hair who owns the sister of her dog. Both of them are in Camden regulary. I'd love to also meet the man with the other dog so that I can describe it more fully, but basically BOTH CHIHUAHUAS are the same colour as Balou, but much heavier and with much thicker necks. The one owned by Pearly has a much thicker tail. To see more pics of Balou who was only 1.5kg when stolen (3-4lbs) see www.rickster.org.uk/boo THANKS SO MUCH TO PEARLY FOR MEETING ME!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This was my little girl Zoe. We live in Holloway so she is very familiar with Balou through your posters and being a real dog's lover, she is very touched by your story (and so am I). She used to ask me to read what was written on the posters everytime we passed one! She has also mentionned Balou to a lot of her friends and I realised that people know about her so you are doing the right thing Loti! Please be sure that you have our full support on this, we are bearing her in mind everytime we step out! I had a dog stolen myself when I was a little girl so can relate in some way to your story. Really really hope she will be back home soon or later. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi again, No need to call the others I think, if the one I called has a similar dog on the books it could explain the Camden sighting away. It would only be worth calling all in the area if none had one registered which would make that sighting suspicious. However, I am in Camden all weekend and will take my camera with me just in case I see anything. Continued good luck!!! x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Amazing work, Basil! Thanks for phoning the Beaumont! I'll call the others too unless you already have - thanks so much. I've also had great results from the Dog Warden in the Harpenden area - first response I've had from any warden at all. So that area is almost covered. Thanks so much!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi again, we live in Camden - always going for walks around here! Am still keeping my eyes open. Local Vets inc. The Beaumont Hospital on Royal College St and the Abbey Vets on Prince of Wales Road. A lovely dog like Balou will stick out like a sore thumb around Camden tube! Continued good luck with the search. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

ANOTHER SIGHTING IN CAMDEN. Anyone out there who is near the tube or the Lock? Anyone who could call the vets and see if they have a similar dog on the books in that area so that I can discount it? Do let me know. I'm so busy with police reports and trying to follow up the Hertfordshire sighting, but will be in Camden tomorrow night anyway. Any help would be great. Anyone looking now who has my Little Boo or knows anything, there is a genuine ?100 for information and a real ?2,000 for her return, with no police and no questions through either doglost or pethunters. We desperatley miss her and she wants to come home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

2 POSSIBLE SIGHTINGS! Camden - again - with a man and again between the tube station and the canal. I'll put up more MISSING posters, but possibly not until Wednesday. Another in north/mid HERTFORSHIRE. Approx postcode AL4, area around Wheathampstead. I'm contacting pubs and clubs, a guesthouse and the vets, but a call from anyone who knows the area would really help me. I'm changing my poster campaign back to MISSING rather than STOLEN as I'm sure she will have changed hands by now. Any help, most appreciated, as always. DOGS AGAINST THEFT - was great, a seedling of a bigger project, thanks to the Chihuahau Meetup for hosting. See other N7 posting for more... Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Justlou - you're an angel. Thanks so much. I'm concentrating on vets (re allergy) and Doggroomer is checking rescues and when you feel a bit defeated, this help really gets you going again. I've checked with the Chihuahua Meetup people and Sunday's meetup is now open to all dogs and dogowners who want to show their anger at dog theft and napping. PLEASE COME EVERYBODY! Hyde Park Bandstand 1pm this Sunday. There may well be press there. Purpose is to build on recent press, say this crime is rife and it is cruel and despicable. Vets need to be more aware and buy your dog through proper channels. Bring dogs and friends!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know this is a very long way away but Second Chance rescue in Scotland have just taken in 3 chi's and are waiting for another one. As dogs in rescues tend to get moved around the country, it's worth checking up on. There aren't any photos on yet but are listed on dogpages 'dogs needing homes north'. Hello Basil the Baby Boxer! In Regent's Park there is a young woman who is Chinese or Japanese looking with an English accent, who has 2 Chis, one long-haired and the other looks a bit like mine but is a dog, not a bitch. But please, do keep a look-out! If you see her, you might remind her of our plight, but hers are hers, we've checked in the manner of a SWAT team. Latest possible sightings are Kensington W8, N1 between Angel and Kings X, N16 by Clissold Park, Devon/Cornwall area. But, as ever, Little Boo, our Balou, could be anywhere. Thanks for keeping the faith that we'll get her home! She's waiting for me.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dear Pearly, Can we meet? I see that my posters in this area are being torn down all the time, and I've checked with the council and it's not them. So I don't want to give up round here, and I have to keep on asking local individuals to look out for her, so if we meet and I see your ladies, I can explain that neither of your dogs are mine. Please let's meet. You're nearby, but I've never met your dogs. What about Sunday at 2pm outside Waitrose in Holloway Road? And yes, the Chihuahau meet on 19th Feb is for all chihuahua owners and we're hoping that a big turnout will attract TV and make chihuahau (gucci handbag but harder to come by) theft something that's so risky, no one will bother trying any more. Hope to hear from you, please ring 07961 156 877.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

thanks so much to PATTY from canineconcepts.co.uk The link to Little Boo looks great and so thanks very, very much. STEF, you are brilliant! POSSIBLE SIGHTING!!! Kensington, London W8 on evening 6th Feb. Corner of Marloes Road and Lexham Gardens, girl in early to mid-twenties, about 5ft 8 with dark blonde straight shoulder length hair, high heels, getting out of a boyfriend's car. Spotter (from posters) described Balou exactly including her smallness - about 5.5 inches at the shoulder and max 8 inches in the body. I can't start hanging out there until Thurs night, so any help from spotters in that area would be fantastic to try to find an address.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

original post from seeking balou removed - and reposted as this: Any more sightings in N16? Yes, please, do register the amount as ?1,000. As long as vets and the police/law don't do anything for victims of pet thievery, I don't see what other choice we have but to just deal directly, with cash. I want my nightmare and Little Balou's terror to end as soon as possible. And I pray that the moment comes soonest. When it does, i have some Security People who will come with me to make sure that if I leave without my cash, I do also leave with my dog! As long as there is no other option, I think this is the most sensible way to get your dog back. If it comes to that. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Chris - thanks for your concern. What do you think I should remove? I believe I have kept back enough to know if it's her or a hoax. You could still help by phoning or emailing your local vets! There's been quite a lot of publicity down here and perfectly possible she's quite far away.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm in the Midlands so cannot help in the search, though I'll watch out in my area. Please be careful about the amount of information you put on site and Balou's web-page as thieves can also access the info. Some info is best kept quiet. ChrisLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Officially... on the position of rewards, we do not advocate the encouragement of anything seen as a ransom. However, we readily recognise that any owner, ourselves included, would rather cut off our right arms and pay our last penny in the world to get our pets home. We therefore never say to any owner not to do what they want to do. Please do let me know if you want me to alter the poster on here to reflect the new reward, so more posters can go up.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm not sure what Dog Lost would advise about advertising the increase in reward money but maybe as you are certain she was stolen, the poster should be ammended to say this. Of course it's not a case of condoning money exchanging hands but I think you just want your baby back and that is the priority. I pray you get her back safely very soon. Thank you so much everyone for you interest and support. Now we know that planning went into her 'disappearance'. I've thought of some of Balou's distinctive features that might help identify her: her allergy makes her rub her eyes, she snorts and she stick out her tongue when relaxed.
