- Timmy's Mummy and Anne I too have been there and still doing that one! Nice in the summer mornings though to stand outside and listen to the dawn chorus!

- I entirely agree with Timmy's Mummy. I too stand at the back door with a torch when mine goes out for his final wee! Sad I know, but you never know who is lurking or who might have left the gate open. It does give you a wake up call when something like this happens. Delighted that this story has a very happy ending.

- Hi, it was myself and my mum that found your dogs, thanks for the thankyou message, hope they're ok after their long walk, i bet the pups were pleased to see mum. Beautiful dogs x

- Please be careful now that the puppies have been viewed on the internet. My friend came home one day to find all the puppies, mother and father gone. She never got them back - gone forever. What has the world come to that scum go around stealing people's pets. Even though I live in a private lane, in a quiet village, with a very secure garden, when my dog goes out at night for his last wee I stand at the back door with a torch! Even when it was minus 12 degrees and doggie decides he doesn't want to come in just yet and there's me in my jimjams chasing him around the garden begging him to come inside!Last edited: 2013-05-09 19:45:40 by Timmy's Mummy

- I would like to thank Amanda and Rachel for all their help. I would also like to thank all the villagers for their concern and assistance and, in particular, the the two ladies who found and then returned the dogs to us. I would also make it absolutely clear that at no time have either Sasha or Fennel run off like this, and, if they had, we would not have slammed the door on anyone who returned them. I suspect Bob1 is confusing us with someone else.

- Great to hear that they are both home once again. We do take a lot of things for granted though! Maybe just be a bit more vigilant from now on especially with people coming to view these lovely puppies! Stay safe and close dogs from now on xxLast edited: 2013-05-09 19:00:56 by ClaireC

- Thank you Modimum for searching etc.and making sure these two returned home safely.
Bob, I can understand your anger and frustration, black dogs loose on country lanes are at risk of causing serious accidents never mind the fact that it is illegal,a report to the dog warden may be a good idea if it happens again.
Owner, a spring fitted to the gate may be a good idea so that it always swings shut, they are inexpensive and easy to fit. Worth it for your dog's safety and your peace of mind. - 2013-05-09 18:34 DigbyNSDTR
- So glad she is (they are both) home, for the sake of the pups especially. And I did get a thank you. Sometimes a shock like this can be a good wake up call for us all...

- Yes some posters up already. Have checked Gold Hill/Hollow/Haywards lane side and down to river and alerted other dog walkers. Given house location and high winds from east, am thinking dogs may have gone towards Shillingstone (sheep) and will walk that side later today and poster on Trailway.

- So hope they haven't been stolen as so unusual for a bitch to go off and leave her puppies. Fingers crossed they are both back soon.

- Sasha is missing with Fennel 52142. She has 3 week old puppies who need her! They went missing this morning when the owner let them out. Someone had entered the property over night leaving the gate open.
Owner is sending photos. Advice given and advice sheets sent. - 2013-05-09 10:19 rachelhayball
