- Are you sure that the staff that found all this funny did not have anything to do with Bertie's disapearence? Just a thought if this is a walk you do at the same time daily, someone may have been watching Bertie, this staff member may have been sending you on a wild goose chase for a reason? Just a thought, this staff member needs to be found and questioned. Hope Bertie is found very soon XLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Just seen there's an EBT on Many Tears on dogpages. White with black ears, male, 2 yrs old. Spent 3 weeks in pound. I'm not sure it's Bertie but I know there are a few bullie people on this thread who may know of others missing. Many Tears are struggling with space so hope someone can help with this one. - Yes it does sound more likely that he never made it onto the platform or the train - still appalling behaviour by the staff. Maybe he was taken by someone nearby or he wandered off by himself. I hope Bertie is back safely very soon Rxxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I have to echo what arcazy (Debbie) has said. My son works for tfl and having spoken to him about Bertie he cant believe that Bertie managed to get on a train by himself without being stopped - for all the reasons that arcazy has stated. (He totally agrees that if Bertie did manage to get to a train and was just watched by station staff they should definitely be reported). SallyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Having spoken to Kath, the owner, her son said that Bertie was only a few steps behind him. Usually, there were lots of people arond but this day there were very few. I will speak to her again in a couple of days and tell her what you have said. I find it staggering that anyone would let a dog just go down towards the platform. Thanks for replying Debbie. - Hi this is Debbie - I am susies daughter and worked at TfL for a long time - i currently work closely with LUL. I am still finding this very strange - is the boy sure they wasnt just taking the wee wee saying the dog walked down the escalators and got on a train?? This being bang out of order still but to me makes more sense. A dog on the underground would be a HUGE security risk and NO staff no matter how un-dog friendly would allow this. If they were scared of the dog the BT police and dog wardens would be called in to remove it. The fact that a dog could jump on a track doesnt bare thinking about - not just for the dogs sake but human danger too - it could derail a train or hold a line up etc etc.. The workers should be reported to the highest level for this, it is disgusting behaviour and something that will be looked down on by the top brass, these staff members need repremanding. I am not convinced this dog got on a train at all and more likely wondered off in the area he was in. Sorry for the long winded post and I know this may not be helpful but I had to say it all. - Bertie was in the underpass because that is how they crossed the road. This was what they did every day but the son was just a short way in front, turned round and Bertie had gone. He asked one of the workers if he had seen a dog and was told, yes, he went down the escalator and got on a train. The son asked the guy to phone the stations along the line. It was all a big joke to the worker. The son told him it wasn't funny and went down and got on a train. He got off at Stockwell and someone there asked if he was the person who had lost a dog. When he said he was, this guy laughed too. They seemed to think it was hilarious. Sorry this is long winded but that is the jist of how Bertie came to be in the underpass. - Have spoken to Kath, Berties mum. Firstly, she would like to thank everybody for their help & support. She isn't online so I said I would do it for her. Jayne, can you change the contact number to 020 8673 0164. The current number is the friend who very kindly put the details on site. There is a possibility that Bertie may be in the Stockwell/Oval area, near to Freemans. The owners son has postered this area but if you have any helpers in SW9, could you e mail the poster to them? Thanks. The owners son is going to contact the local papers to see if they will run a story about Bertie. I will phone her again during the week to see if there is any news. She now has my contact numbers so if there is anything I'm sure she will let me know. Does anybody have any more ideas of what to do? SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have tried sending it to myself but it doesn't work. I will try and contact the owner in the next few days to see if she has heard anything. I did poster in and around the station and some friends postered school, club and church hall - thanks Bob & Sue. Is anyone able to contact the local press and send poster to them? Thanks. - did you manage to get more posters up Bugs? Try and get some on the busiest bus shelters the bus company will complain but LT will not take any action against you, LT have enough problems with the public and wouldn't dare do anything about a lost dog campaign ;o) The moe the poster is seen the hotter the dog becomes and like Jimmy is more likely to be returned or left somewhere to be found. Abd try to replace posters in busier areas as often as possible. Wish I could be out doing some but am to far away :o/ well done al those that are out doing what they can for all lost babes susie xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I've only just caught up on this story. Arcazy is absolutely right. There is no way that Bertie would have got on the train unaccompanied. This is a deep level tube with plenty of obstacles between the entrance and the platform. Even if he'd tried to squeeze under the gates, a station assistant would have grabbed him. If the log didn't reveal anything, it might be worth phoning BTP. Their central london office covers all of the underground: 020 7027 6330.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Bertie is a standard bully (phew!!) I have just spoken to his owners who have passed on gratefull thank you's for all the help and support. Ollies mum there is also the metro it is a free (morning) newspaper that is at every underground station and is very popular, it runs out well before rush hour is over at most central stations so may be worth trying them to, in fact I think they might just be interested in Bertie's story being as its underground related!! - It did say 12inches to shoulder and I worry that if he has gone into rescue and they are not aware he is a MBT but presume he is a cross anyone asking a BT will be told no we have a cross but no BT's, I also have a mini and so few people have ever heard of them let alone seen them many mistake Tiffy for a BT cross. So we do need to know if he is a mini or not its very difficult to tell from the piccie. - another thought here oooh I am on one tonight!! If Bertie is a mini bully and his size says he is, then is it possible that any rescue who has had him through may not realise what he is, peeps are looking for a BT and rescue may think he is a cross, not many people have actually seen a mini bully and even more are unaware of the breed SusieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- telephone numbers will only take you to an exchange as a member of the public you wouldn't get near the station because of the threat of terrorists, but you can go into the station and ask to speak to a station supervisor at any time the supervisor is in charge of the station at that time, if he/she will not go through the log book then you have a right to speak to the duty station manager, trust me when you ask for the DSM the supervisor will assist you ;o) But as I say CCTV tapes are not held for long but the log books are!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I worked on London Underground and knowing the stations and how they work there is no way a dog of any size could get on a train without being seen, the station supervisor would have to inform the line controller and the train stopped at the next station to retrieve the dog, also BTP (transport police) would be informed, also a log book is kept at every station and all incidents must be logged dated and timed!! so it is worth going back to the station and asking for the supervisor if you get no joy then ask for the duty station manager, insist!!! Only 12 inches tall I take it this is a mini bully??!! SusieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I know this might be a silly question but - are we sure Bertie was seen actually on the platform of the underground station. I only ask, because to get there he would have to go through ticket barriers and then down an escalator and then onto the platform. Going to the station at the same kind of time and day that he disappeared and asking people if they saw him (obviously with a poster, when the pic arrives) would be an idea. (Must admit in all the times i've used the underground I dont recall seeing a dog - so this maybe something that would stick in someones mind). Sally xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Friend who works on Underground informs me ALL underground and main line station are covered by CCTV but they only keep the tapes for a certain amount of time. Please ask for station supervisors and possibly British Transport Police may be helpful ? Good luck - get home Bertie please ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Photo should be on its way. Bertie was seen on his own at Clapham Common Station-we do not know in which direction he took a train so when photo comes in we will e mail to all routes-does anyone have local knowledge where these would be? Station are not interested in co-operating with owner! Maybe one for the Evening Standard?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Contact number is for a neighbour. I have left my number for the owner to call. I have asked the neighbour to ask if she has a photo. If she has one, he will put it on site. Hope we get one very soon. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- A photo of Bertie would help immensely. Hope he is home promptly, but a photo (even one of a similar puppy) would make recognition so much easier. Good luck in your search.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Well done Sue - if you do talk to owners can you see if you can get a mobile number from them too - it's really important that if they're out searching for bertie, we are able to contact them 24 hrs - just in case we get a call in we need to raise them asap... goes for all other owners on here too!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hope Bertie is home very, very soon.xxxxxx Not too far from me. I don't know an underpass at Clapham Common, just the tube station which I think may go from one side to the other.(2 entrances) I will try to get some posters up at the weekend. If it is the tube, there should be CCTV.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Oh no - not another bully. As Sarah so rightly questioned - why was Bertie in an underpass on his own? Had you just walked through it, or had he just run to it for a nosey? Do you think he was snatched by someone in the underpass? Hope you get him back asap - and can we have a piccy of this munchy EBT pleeeease. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hope bertie is home soon. Quick question? Why was he in the underpass on his own? Is there any more info on this? Have the CCTV cameras been checked, as I would have thought being a underpass would have cameras you know for all crime reasons etc??? Good Luck will pass the word about!
