- I have phoned the Golf Course today. Although the lady that I spoke to wasn't aware of Mally (they were contacted at the beginning by the owner though)she did say that she and many members are dog lovers and any sightings would have been reported to them. She said they regularly take cats to the local vets to be scanned and would do all they can to help any dogs running scared be reunited with owners, so I suspect that he hasn't been spotted there. She has said that I can drop in a poster, which I will do. I also phoned Hazleton Farm who said their poster is still up but no sightings reported and I also spoke to the vets at Rowlands Castle who said that they still have all the details and will reshare on their Facebook page again (this will re-notify people who walk in Havant Thicket and the area around Hazleton Farms to ride their horses), incase he has moved on. I just wish we had a sighting. I have been watching the story of Penny the missing collie/spaniel who has been missing since November and was seen only yesterday after not being seen for weeks and weeks so I won't give up on the hope of seeing Mally soon (preferably in the blue and at home) xx
- 2013-06-24 21:57 Tiga
- Ok Tobys Mum - thank you for the update. It would be worth making sure that posters are renewed to let people know that he is still missing. There were so many dog walkers around, they need to be kept informed. Has anyone checked the golf course as that is usually a great place for rabbits. Were the owners still out looking and postering. The bed needs to be kept at the place where he went missing in the park behind their house. Oh Mally please stay safe and show yourself.
- 2013-06-24 17:45 Tobys Mum
- Sorry for not getting back to you sooner JB but I have been away for a few days and before that helping to sort out a dog foster situation. I have just spoken with the owner, who has sadly said that they have had no news and Mally is still missing. I continue to be vigilant myself when walking my dog and driving around. I am still talking to other dog walkers in places that I walk and am sad that poor Mally is still out there somewhere. I noticed that the poster in Morrisons has now gone so I will replace that when I do my shopping this week xx
- 2013-06-21 20:59 Lynda
- Seems odd how it's gone quiet...I do hope they've maybe tracked him down now. Poor little guy :(
- 2013-06-21 16:40 Tiga
- I have just called Padnell Grange to get a message to Bob the groundsman who I spoke to when I was there tracking with Tiga and the receptionist said she would ask him when she saw him on Monday and see if he knows if Mally is still missing.
If any of the local dog walkers that were so helpful are reading this perhaps they could let Dog Lost know or post on here.
It would be so so sad if he has been given up on as he was such a frightened little dog and had only been with the owners 5 weeks.
Stay safe Mally - 2013-06-18 09:37 Ness
- Anything?
I've not reveived any replies from texts, has anyone had any contact?
I'm hoping that this is beccause Mally has been found!
Still walking that way when I can...just in case. - 2013-06-13 05:48 Ratel
- Me too, I check constantly for any news about Mally.
- 2013-06-12 20:12 Tobys Mum
- Hi Ness......sadly I think that the ears are very different on 53418 to Mally's ears and I agree the back looks darker :-( Maybe when Shuffy next looks she can confirm this though. Still thinking about Mally all the time too......
- 2013-06-12 18:48 Ness
- Is there a chance this could be him - 53418
Difficult to tell from photos although dog 53418 looks like he has a darker back.
Basingstoke is in the same county although quite a distance, he wouldn't have travelled that far on his own.
Still thinking about Mally... - 2013-06-11 06:37 Maggie
- I've sent a message to owner asking if they can look at his DL and let us know if he is still missing.
- 2013-06-10 23:29 Ness
- Still concerned that Mally may still be missing...
Can someone email the owner and see if there has been any news, I am hoping there has been!
I'm contiuing to look in the area but without any sightings it's difficult to know where to concentrate efforts.
Also, would like to know where Mally came from so I can publicise in that area (I've done a general Petersfield sweep but it's quite a large town)
Like Toby's Mum, whenever I drive the A3(M), I am on the lookout, just in ecase... - 2013-06-10 10:29 Tiga
- Tobys Mum - you are doing a good job, if I was nearer I would come out again and let Tiga have another chance.
- 2013-06-09 18:13 Tobys Mum
- I too am still looking, was up there looking again this week and my husband reularly runs that way and stops as many dog walkers as he can to inform them. Still scan the motorway everyday too going to and from work and even hope that he appears in front of me when I am passing the road by Morrisons at night :-(
- 2013-06-08 18:58 Ness
- Has there been any news? I've walked again in the area but didn't see anything. I also checked along the shops etc I did text owner but didn't hear anyting so I'm hoping that perhaps there is some news? Fingers crossed!
Oh and I went to the dog show in Petersfield last weekend, but nothing I'm afraid. Is it possible to get confirmation of where he came from up there, I know Petersfield very well so could cover there too. Last edited: 2013-06-08 19:00:32 by Ness - 2013-06-06 10:39 Tiga
- The golf course I believe was postered but to do it again would not hurt. The golf course is owned by the same guy that owns the farm and the businesses in Padnell Grange. There was a very secure fence along the length of the golf course adjacent to the bridleway and we could not see a way in from this side. The bed should be left in the park where Mally first went missing from with a poster explaining. Come on Mally you have a forever home waiting for you and a little boy missing you.
- 2013-06-04 10:58 Owl
- Can I check if the golf course has been postered, also the clubhouse? Dogs on the run often stay around golf courses because they are traffic free, full of rabbits and voles, with sheltered areas and often bits of sandwich, crisps etc.
- 2013-06-04 10:46 Ratel
- I wondered that too. If Mally had been with the rescue for some time, it is perfectly feasible that he could head back to it. Can we please pinpoint exactly where he came from in the Petersfield area?
- 2013-06-04 09:04 Sammie
- Shuffy, did you get my last email? i haven't heard back form you. I couldn't find a rescue near Petersfield listed, and wondered if he would make his way back towards that area. Lets hope you get a sighting soon so you know what area to focus on.
- 2013-06-03 13:22 Tobys Mum
- Shuffy, would you like to meet up for another search on Thursday afternoon, if there is no news by then? I can make 2pm at Padnell Grange entrance. Unfortunately, I can't make tomorrow or Wednesday. Also, are you able to pop a poster up in Havant Thickett before then, if not I will at the end of the week?
- 2013-06-03 12:26 shuffy
- I am very disgusted by some of the comments that have been left on here. The whole reason for this site is for useful information given by owners and others to help find/locate lost dogs.. At the end of the day Mally is still missing and we are NO closer to finding him. Pointless input is not going to help!!!
- 2013-06-02 21:48 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- shuffy..I hope you won't be offended by this, but please, please believe that Tiga knows exactly what he is doing. He & JB hv helped me find lost dogs in my area & they were not where the owners expected them to go. Lost dogs adopt different tactics to stay safe and feed especially after 2 weeks. JB's a volunteer who travels miles to help people & has reunited 38+ lost dogs often under really tough conditions & after others hv searched for many days. Like when she found Maisie (you may hv read about it the national press) Pls hv a look at this link & you will see what I mean! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-21233780 I really hope you find Mally soon. Trust the beagle to find the beagle .. please!
- 2013-06-02 14:47 Tiga
- Yes but a very weak scent - Tiga did go off into the bramble on the left of the fp. On another circuit we did with the owner, the owner wanted to go back home in one direction near Morrisons but Tiga insisted on going back into this common opposite Morrisons to the extent that he nearly backed out of his harness insisting he was right but sadly it was not to be. I feel so sorry for Tiga being pulled off the scent and for Mally who wasn't given a fair chance to be tracked.
- 2013-06-02 14:31 Tobys Mum
- My husband did that same route too JB last weekend, so know exactly where you are decribing. I took a poster to Hazleton Farm which you have referred to only last week but today I took posters into Keydell Nursery cafe, the garden centre and Morrisons. Did Tiga take you over the footbridge with scent JB? As Mally doesn't know the area that well, my husband has suggested postering at Havant Thicket which I can do at some point unless shuffy or somebody else can do that before I can get there. If he has ventured across the A3 over the bridge, it really is a haven for a lost dog and he probably wouldn't then cross back over to Padnell Woods. Last edited: 2013-06-02 14:33:12 by Tobys Mum
- 2013-06-01 21:43 Tiga
- The area Tiga tracked was all within 2 miles of where he went missing but the scent was not strong and unfortunately Tiga was not able to venture the way he wanted as the owner did not believe he had gone that way. As we all know 2 miles is not far for a beagle to venture but my concern is that as he is very frightened particularly of men he might not have gone far and is just hiding in the area. Difficult to know what background he has and the owners have only had him about 6 weeks and therefore Mally will not know the area that well.
- 2013-06-01 20:27 Sammie
- I just searched the towns you mentioned below and a different postcode came up, but it won't harm to get more coverage. The area is about 45 miles from me and not familiar with it. It would make sense for him to have moved area quite a bit (as I don't believe there have been any sightings).
- 2013-06-01 18:58 Tiga
- Not sure of the postcodes but the area seems to be between the A3 & A3M up to where they meet at Horndean. There was footpath that went from Padnell Road towards the golf course but turn left along a bridlepath and keep going until you go over a foot bridge over the A3M (I think)turn immediately left on a footpath along this busy road and then across a slip road where the fp continues past the Fullers brewery and Keydell nursery and to the A3, turn left and left again until you end up back at Morrisons, go across the roundabout and keep left back into the common. This was one route I did last thing yesterday. As you go on the fp along the A3M there is a farm on the right hand side and and the owner of the land ahs given me permission to go on it if Tiga wanted to but at that time he didn't but I did see there were some barns and the farmer is a very dog friendly person with a number of dogs. The 2 or 3 circuits we did all made sense to us taking in the usual take aways, woodland cover, streams for fresh water and open land with lots of rabbits etc. I hope this helps.

- Hi Sammie, I live in PO8 and don't want to confuse anybody but I believe the area we are looking is still PO8/PO7/PO9. Alerts did go to this area initially. PO16 is near Fareham some didtance away. Great work by Jenny and Tiga, I will take some posters out tomorrow and update where I go. Come on Mally, where are you xx
- 2013-06-01 17:48 Sammie
- Admin - please send email alerts to PO16
- 2013-06-01 17:45 Sammie
- Jenny I see this area you mention is PO16 and no alerts when to this area so I will request them and bump.
- 2013-05-31 21:27 Tiga
- Tiga has tracked for 2 days and although the scent was not strong it all made sense and linked up. If anyone can poster in the Waterlooville, Horndean, Cowplain areas taking in the parades of shops including the faast food ones, Keydell Nursery and tea room, Fullers brewery, Morrisons, a burger/snack bar near the industrial estate and footpaths along the A3M that would help. Sadly the owner did not have faith in Tiga's ability which made it very hard for Tiga to perform and considering Mally has now been missing for 11 days with no sightings I believe Tiga did an amazing job and having found/help reunite 38 dogs you have to accept his judgement. Mally we know you are out there and very frightened please show yourself to one of the very nice dog walkers that are looking out for you.
- 2013-05-29 19:08 Tobys Mum
- I have dropped a poster in to the vets at Rowlands Castle which they have kindly displayed in their window. The lovely receptionist there also posted details on their Facebook page which covers all the vets in the area, should anybody take Mally elsewhere. If you want to comment on their page with any updates, here is the link https://www.facebook.com/PriorsLeazeVeterinaryCentre. I also dropped a poster into Hazleton Farm Equestrian Supplies at long last. If Mally has moved on to this area, apparently there is often alot of people out on horses who could be extra eyes. Good luck tomorrow JB with Tiga, I will be about at the weekend if any further help is needed, shuffy has my number xx
- 2013-05-29 17:14 debbie
- iD 52751 looks very similar x
- 2013-05-29 15:12 Ness
- Sorry there have been no sightings yet.
If I can, I will come that way Thurs or Fri (I'll text owner) for another sweep of the common and woods.
There is a big Obediance dog show at Petersfield on Sunday,it would certainly be worth getting in touch with the organisers (Petersfield & District Dog Training Society http://petersfielddts.weebly.com/index.htm )and see if they can put a poster up in the "official" tent (or whatever they use!)
I might be going to spectate - not sure yet. If I do I'll take a poster and pass the word as well.
- 2013-05-29 10:56 Tiga
- If the weather has improved it would be worth Tiga coming down and at least defining the area Mally has gone so that anyone able to help at the weekend has an idea of where to search and poster.
- 2013-05-29 09:57 Nic
- Am committed with work this week but am available anytime this weekend and would be happy to assist with leafleting, searching or whatever may help. I would need a bit of guidance regarding area as I don't know it. Hope you get some news soon.

- This wouldn't be the same as the found dog ID 52751 described as a yellow crossbreed but similar to Mally would it ? XLast edited: 2013-05-29 17:13:14 by debbie

- Thanks Jenny, I am sure Tiga will be a help.
I just dropped the owner an email to remind her to let me know if you do manage to get a sighting and we can bump his page back up. - 2013-05-28 21:40 jobadger
- ID 52751 - I know there's a bit of a distance - but 5 days difference in lost/found......... and yes chipped/unchipped but....... maybe.......
- 2013-05-28 10:43 Tiga
- Just spoken to the owner again and as soon as it stops raining I will go down with Tiga to track. If anyone is in the area can they please look in bushes and undergrowth as Mallys collar broke the morning before he went missing and he is wearing a spare temporary collar which is a chain choke collar.
- 2013-05-27 14:39 Pnki
- I'm so sorry to here this and I've only just found out. I lost a dog in PO10 a month ago. We postered everything, put leaflets through doors and stopped people in the street, I then got calls with sightings. I will go looking myself but only sorry I haven't been looking sooner! Will share on FB x
- 2013-05-27 13:04 Sammie
- I think the rescue was in Petersfield where Mally came from. I did advise letting them know, on day 1 he went missing.
He is chipped so if he turns up somewhere he should be scanned, it is the lack of sightings you are struggling with.
I have just texted the owner who has been out again today, maybe we need to widen the area and email alerts?
He could be laying low in a field / rural area so watch for any crop spraying or harvest cutting as this would make him move on.
You have all done a fab job of helping the owner search, well done xLast edited: 2013-05-27 13:04:50 by Sammie - 2013-05-27 11:02 Ness
- Been out this morning for couple of hours, no sign of him I'm afraid.
If he's roaming the area, he will be hungry - target all the take-aways, supermarkets, cafes etc
It's bin day tomorrow, see if you can catch the binmen and ask them to keep a look out whist they are on the estate and round and about.
It's half term all week, make sure all the wooded area have posters, kids will be playing in there this week in the day, you never know!
I've got all dog trainers/breeders/groomers etc in the area I know notified plus the vets in Waterlooville.
You're right on the border of Havant and East Hants councils, so make sure you speak to both dog wardens, local councils etc
Which rescue place did you get him from? Is there any chance he may have tried to return? - 2013-05-26 20:36 Tobys Mum
- I so wish that there would be some news for you shuffy, just a sighting or a lead, as a reward for all your hard work in postering & raising awareness. Sadly, there was no news at Hazleton Farm but I left some details and a contact number and the lady who was working in the farm shop said that it was ok to go back and put a poster up in there. Could I arrange to collect a couple from you as I could then also drop one into the vets in Rowlands castle.....feel so helpless without a printer! Keep doing all you are doing though shuffy, have my fingers crossed still for some good news very soon xx
- 2013-05-26 19:00 shuffy
- Still no sign of Mally, Have put cards in all doors backing on to the woods, and houses around the park area. Has anyone had any luck? Its a whole week tomorrow that he has been missing!!!!!!Last edited: 2013-05-26 21:02:05 by shuffy

- My husband will be walking that way this afternoon sometime, with Toby. I will call into Hazleton Farm later myself and make them aware too......this is where he could end up if he crossed over the A3 bridge in the direction of Rowlands Castle (which I don't think he has as his food has been left untouched on the Common). There is also a vets in Rowlands Castle, closed at the moment but worth considering for a poster next week.....I will gladly do that for you on Tuesday too if there is still no news. xx

- I’ve found that it helps to print out an A4 sheet of paper cut into business-card size slips, each with brief details and your phone number on. Give them to all the local dog walkers, postmen etc. you meet. Then if someone has news when they’re out and about they don’t need to find a poster or log on to the site to contact you. Glad he's microchipped. Hope he's home soon.
- 2013-05-24 13:57 Lilybear

- I have driven along the A3 between Horndean and Waterlooville this morning and at lunchtime on my way to and from work -thankfully nothing untoward again. My husband does alot of running in the area around there too and will be keeping an eye out too. I keep hoping that somebody has taken him in and that is why nobody has seen him. Brilliant that you were able to do some posters Ness.

- My husband has been out over horndean and otherside of a3 also over the bridge at the end of the wood area in padnell road with Posters. he has said he has put around 40+ of them out today,I will be back at lunchtime tomorrow if anyone is free to help me search again? Thank you all so much for everything you have done so far. i really hope we see him soon!

- Morning all. I have been and postered along Sheepwash, into Hazleton Common, front of Padnell Grange, Padnell Park and Cherry Tree Avenue.
I spke to lots of dog owners again and hopefully word will start to get around.
I have also spoken to the owner this morning as one dog walker I chatted with gave me some info that was worth following up - but we think that is probably a red herring. Owner knows though and can check herself when she gets back in the area tomorrow lunchtime.
I ran out of posters unfortunatley, didn't realise how big Pandell Park was! Will go back over weekend if owner wants some more done and any help.
Really hope for some sightings now.... - 2013-05-23 07:50 shuffy

- Thank you all for helping this owner. I have just texted her & reminded her she has contact numbers for highways etc in the info I sent her. I am still advising to leave gate open at home and something of hers outside if possible and also to search any out buildings/sheds they may have. I am also away on holiday so really appreciate all the support you can give her.
- 2013-05-22 19:19 Ness
- I drove up and down between the Waterlooville and Horndean junctions earlier and there was nothing untoward - that's a good thing.
I have managed to get my printer to print in black & white - better than nothing - and I will print some out for you and put them up tomorrow morning in the area.
As Toby's Mum says - we need a sighting to give us some clues.
Staying positive. - 2013-05-22 17:49 Tobys Mum
- Hi Shuffy. I walked around the woods this afternoon and spoke to two dog owners, one of whom knew you and your dog, both will keep their eyes open. I called the accountants that have a phone number on the gate to Padnell Grange and made the girl there aware but there are other businesses there too. On the bright side there is plenty of places for a scared dog to hide and I noticed a trickle of water in the stream. I think that once you get home at the weekend postering is the best way forward to raise awareness in the area, including Cowplain Shops, Padnell School as suggested by Ness, St Peters vets at Horndean and Golf Course. On the down side, the A3 is very close so may also be worth checking with the Highways department as sadly they don't scan dogs for chips if recovered from the roads :-( May also, be worth postering at Havant Thickett car park incase he does cross the A3. Let me know if I can help in any way, unfortunately my printer is useless too otherwise I would print some posters out. Really do wish there would be a sighting so we could lay some scent.Last edited: 2013-05-22 17:51:25 by Tobys Mum

- I walked Sheepwash Lane and then into the woods and around the green, no sign sadly.
I spoke to lots of people and passed the word - one lady knew about him from her breeder.
You need to get postering as some of the retired people I spoke to didn't have access to the internet for information nor did thay have anything on them to write down your details on. They need to have your number in case of sighting!
I spoke to the lollipop lady outside Padnell School, she was also going to keep an eye out and spread the word. A good place to catch local people would be when the Mums come and collect their children later this afternoon - flood them with leaflets!
I did text you so you have my mobile number - if there are sightings and you need some helpers, let me know.
Good luck, hope we see him home soon.Last edited: 2013-05-22 09:21:59 by Ness - 2013-05-22 07:49 Ness

- Sorry to see that MALLY is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (52588)
- Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
- Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
- If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
- If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
- Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
- DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
