So very pleased this gorgeous girl is home safely xx

Yes, afraid so. Was going to look and arrived just as they were coming out. Can't take any credit for finding her! For the local people - Whatley quarry is a fantastic place to walk dogs, but please take care. It goes on for miles and is solid woodland and tracks teeming with deer, rabbits, pheasants and everything a dog loves and is tempted by! Take your time exploring with your dog on a lead first so they learn the area. At least then if they do get lost they have a chance of finding their way back.

Just spoken to owner...he is so impressed with all you volunteers helping...and reporting Cora found before he could...Was it you Skylark that met his female friend with the dog and asked is that Cora? tx

Cora was found at 11-30 this morning.
Some friends were calling her name in the quarry and while they were talking to me on a mobile she appeared
out of the woods with a Slightly wounded back leg.

She seems fine except for a rather bad bite on her right back leg, looks like she may have been bitten by a badger or some other woodland creature.

Thanks for all your help, kind words and encouragement.
This website is brilliant and I'll be sure to get involved where ever I can.

Keep up the great work - reuniting people and there beloved pets.Last edited: 2013-05-30 14:53:39 by Wingtip

Fantastic news! Sending get well wishes to Cora.

Really pleased to say that Cora was found about an hour ago, sadly with an injured leg. I'm sure her owners will update in due course, but firstly are taking her to the vets. Welcome home Cora - thats a scary place to get lost.
awpvicki
I guess you've already taken posters to or called the company that owns the quarry?
skylark
I will be going up the quarry shortly. Can you give any idea of whereabouts in the quarry she went missing. Was it along the main track or up in the woods. Unfortunately this is a vast, competely unpopulated area. A starting point may be helpful. I do know the quarry well if you need a hand. Also worth putting a poster in the vets in Trudoxhill as it is a popular walking area for the locals.Last edited: 2013-05-30 11:27:36 by skylark

I see there is good support for Cora, my friend has contacted me to say she too may be able to come across with others to help with the search on Saturday. If not home by then Wingtip will no doubt post an update. Thanks all.Last edited: 2013-05-30 11:13:06 by Lilybear

Wingtip has no mobile phone at present but is looking to organise one.
Wingtip
I should also add that Cora does not the Frome area although she has been to Whatley Quarry about a dozen times, she'll probably know how to find the entrance where we usualy park the car, there is a big road near this entrance.
Wingtip
Hello.

I intend to go back to the quarry at around 1 o/c today to search the area and to put up posters etc.
Lilybear
Have shared Sammie's advice sheets. Am sharing Wilts.
Wingtip
I would advise anyone who wants to walk in Whatley quarry to be careful as it is very big and a person could easily get lost. I wouldn't normally go there with a friend who is good at navigating etc a good tip would be to find the river and walk down stream to get back near the entrance.
awpvicki
Don't worry - it wouldn't put me off if she barked or growled - any dog under stress would do the same. I haven't walked at Whatley before, but will get over there on Saturday if she is still missing. I hope she is found safe and well long before that though. If I wasn't working full time, I would be out today for you.
Wingtip
Cora is a private sort of dog, she may bark or growl if startled and tends to leave other dogs alone until she knows them. Otherwise she is very friendly and loving and has never hurt or bitten anyone.
Wingtip
Thanks to all those who have posted.
I'm just off to the library to get the posters printed off, then my friend is going to drive around the quarry to stick posters on whatever they can.
Jazzdiva
I can get down there on Saturday if Cora has still not been found - can anyone advise me how to get there, I only live in Frome, but have never been. Thank you
skylark
I walk my dogs there nearly every day - will keep my eyes open. Worth contacting the local shoot as they are in the woods preparing pens for the pheasants at the moment.
awpvicki
I am in Coleford, just a couple of miles away. Will keep eyes peeled. I have 3 friendly dogs - would Cora approach or hide?
