Hi everyone - I'VE FOUND HER !!!!

I went out later than normal this morning, as soon as I got onto the field behind my house I saw a white dog in the middle. I could not tell if it was Honey but, as when she saw me, she bolted over to the corner of the field and went straight into the undergrowth. I went over to the corner and started walking into the bushes when I caught a flash of white coat. I bent down and there she was behind the railing. Calling her name very quietly, I crept closer and closer to her eventually got near enough to put my hand out for her to sniff. She rolled over onto her back and I managed to get a lead clipped onto her coller - the flexi lead had gone by the way - and encouraged her past the railing and near to me. She is rather dirty but otherwise fine.
I cried all the way home - could not believe my luck in finding her. Many many thanks to everyone who kept a look out for her over the past few days. If you see me with Honey out on the fields, along with my other 3 dogs, please come over and say hello.

Just to say really hope Honey is found soon Barbara and am thinking of you - am keeping a lookout as I know others are. Have shared link to this page on twitter/Facebook - including on facebook aylestone meadows related pages. having read comments below am talking to my dog quietly as I go round near playing fields / track towards horsebridge. Will lookout wherever I am on meadows x

I had a walk around the Nature reserve this afternoon but nothing to report unfortunately. Saw the posters and there were quite a few dog walkers about. I looked across each field and must remember to take my bonoculars next time. I do hope you get a sighting soon so that you know she is still around there. There are so many paths she could take, like along the canal. Stay safe Honey.

Thank you your feedback. As I am searching on my own, I will have to take the other dogs every time I go out and start talking to them so as not to look too much like a crazy lady !

Barbara1951 we have found that any use of the name can spook your dog, try singing gently to yourself or laugh gently or if there are 2 of you searching then talk about nice things quietly among yourselves - this will help to create an association and interest from her - if you get her attention then gently sit or lay on the floor still talking and with no direct eye contact and very gently offer her food - one of my slightly bizzare but proven food offering methods is a pair of tights with the foot of one stuffed with pilchards layed out on the floor - you can very gently pull this towards you once you have her interest and entice her in without any need to raise an arm to toss food towards her - the tights can also be deployed when walking with one foot tied to your belt( the empty one) and the other following a few feet behind to entice the dog to follow - it can seem painstakingly frustrating but I have managed to bring in a scared dog using this method when all other options had failed

Yes it is common for them to hide away. Please resist the urge to shout her name as this will also scare her and she will think that she has done something wrong and will not come up to you. If she's food orientated please have some smelly food with you. if you do see her drop down to the ground and let her come to you.

Hello Blaze - not really sure it was Honey. My friend's husband saw a white dog at 6am Tues morning at the corner of the field behind my house on Gwencole Crescent. He did not see anyone with the dog, but had not met Honey yet so it was not really a confirmed sighting. I can only hope it was her. On Monday she bolted from the alley leading into the field, and then crossed the field onto the track going towards the canal/central railway.
The rescue I got her from thinks she will hide away during
the day and only come out early or late, so it is going to be very hard to spot her. I have been going out at 6am and 9pm to see if she responds to me calling her name - obviously with no success as yet. Is it common for dogs to hide away like this?

Any sightings? Good to hear about the posters Barbara.
I rode over there yesterday and went into Aylestone Meadows Nature reserve. I assume the fields at the back where she was spotted lead into the reserve and that is where she is perhaps hiding. Am I right?

Have asked for picture, owner said that the person that she spoke to when she gave Honeys details where going to get one via the rescue centre.

Have spoken to Honeys owner, she got scared this morning and ran with her flexi lead attached. She only came from a rescue centre on Saturday. Advice given to search areas where lead could have got stuck plus general advice. Emails sent. Stay safe Honey until you are found xx
