Sorry I've not posted on the page before now, I've been liaising directly with Laura re helping search and spreading the word.

I was so pleased when Laura texted to say that Merry had been found all the way over in Scaynes Hill (not somewhere i'd have thought to search myself) - I hope that she is well and that Stella is getting lots of cocker kisses :) Well done that man (especially given she's apparently nervous of men)!
AlisonH
So very happy that merry has been found. I know the owner worked so hard to find her beloved companion. Welcome home sweetheart.

Hello!i am totally over the moon to read this! absolutely fantastic news! Thank you so much for letting us know. Please send our love to your Grandmother and that she enjoys every second of having her Merry back by her side
Laura xx

Stella.Vickers
Hey everybody, This is stella's grandson.

We've got great news a Man who works for KPS today phone us saying he had found Merry and she is now back home safe with us.

My grandmother is obviously in bit of a state of euphoria right now so i've said I would deal with letting people know. She just wants to express how grateful she is with everyone's persistence and support in helping us locate her.

thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the help

(I don't know how you go about marking this as now found but if whoever does know could sort that out for us we'd be very grateful)

I wonder if the milkman is Milk and More they seem to be all over the place now unless they have another but would be worth contacting them. Also the Postman I am going to be tied up with work over the next few days but if anyone is in Haywards Heath by the station could they drop a poster into the mail sorting office and ask them to display in their tea room/notice board so they are all aware while out on their rounds. I can help evenings - and drive passed the area at lunchtime so will be keeping a close eye out. Julie xx
innthedoghouse
What about a mobile BBQ frying sausages down the track. Stella it may be worth staying down the track today and just sitting and waiting. You will be near her and she may come out of her hiding place. X let me know where you are today
innthedoghouse
The milkman delivers milk often to the groomer at 3:30 am. Can they inform the milkman to keep a look out or does anybody on the Lewes Rd know the name of the company please. I will try to find out in the meantimeLast edited: 2013-07-08 06:46:43 by innthedoghouse

No luck but it is a good time to search as you can hear all noises and the torch catches animal eyes. Has anyone contacted the Police to report her missing? Stella, please try and sleep, you need your strength.xx
innthedoghouse
Hi Stella, we are sitting at the moment in the dark with our dog and torch, down the Pusey track. Fingers crossed. We have put up some more posters in Lindfield and gave a
man leaflets for all pubs. If all helpers could put up as many posters as poss. We have to get Merry home for you. X
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
I am keeping everything crossed for you Stella that with the help and advice from the communicator you will be able to find Merry. Julie x
innthedoghouse
Hi Stella, we may see you later as we are venturing out soon. Maybe put some water for her too. We have a very powerful torch if you need it, just in case you are there in the dark at anytime. xx
Laura1985
Hi Stella

Sounds like you have received some good advice from the dog communicator.
I have all fingers crossed for a sighting very soon. As I mentioned earlier I felt reassured when out searching today that the trees are offering good shade and there are many little streams about. We will be back tomorrow to have a look for her.
Good luck for tonight

Hello again,

I have spoken to the Dog Communicator and she has suggested the following;

1) Merry may be in the undergrowth of the fields near the area she escaped through (end of access lane to large house/puseys' access on 272, she doesn't feel that (from what I have told her of Merry) she would have gone for miles and is probably hiding somewhere close by to where she ran.

2) She has suggested for me to take a blanket with her scent on it and leave it with some food in a location that is sheltered near where she disappeared.

3) She suggested that because of the nervous nature of Merry that people should not call her name but be quiet and should they see her to bend down and offer her food, or if they are with their dog to let your dog attract her.

My grandson and I are going to go and put her blanket and some food down and have another look tonight at dusk.

Once again thank you for your continuing support
stella

Hello Stella - really good to hear from you - we will do all we can to help you find Merry. A sighting of her would be the best thing I agree but as she is nervous you are right she could be hiding in undergrowth. When I went to Slugwash Lane today I stopped at various points along the road and got out and called her name but sadly no sign. The wooded area would be a good hiding place and there is a water source there too I did call here too but difficult as it clearly is private land so could not go stomping through the woods. The other thing would be if someone has found her and doesn't have access to the internet or know of Dog Lost and with it being a weekend Dog Wardens etc. will not be at work. Really hoping for some good news for you Stella. Julie x
Stella.Vickers
Hello, This is the owner of Merry my grandson has registered me an account so I can post to on here.
Thank you to everyone who are taking time to look for My Merry.

We have been searching around the Pusey practice on the A272 and down the drive to the large house at then end and the ground of this house by king permission of the owner. We have been down to Ham lane to put poster up and to various houses on slugwash lane on the left hand side asking if anyone has seen her.

We also been to Wivelsfield village and along the adjacent areas on the wivelsfield road.

She's very nervous (particularly of men) so she may be hiding in undergrowth. What would really help us if we had a sighting to narrow the search.

Thank you to everyone who is searching for Merry, it means so much to me and the overwhelming support we are getting here is lovely.

Bumped into someone else whilst searching who mentioned she would keep an eye too. The groomer is Lulu La Bone, based on the lewes road, Haywards Heath. Odd that she's not in this forum. Hopefully she is looking too.

Thanks Laura for the confirmation - I live on Chailey Common so will be telling anyone I see about Merry just in case although it is quite a way for her to come but of course when it is quiet they can travel quite a distance. Thank you Innthedoghouse I just wondered about the osteopaths and great they are also looking. I think I will try and e-mail the pubs the Cock Inn at Wivelsfield and what used to be the Farmers at Scaynes Hill just in case. Julie x

Catherine was recommended by dogs lost for Marco search
innthedoghouse
Yes, a lady used Catherine the communicator. I was involved in the search. Dog missing from finches gardens, lindfield. he was found on Snow drop lane. The communicator spoke on the phone and told her Marco would be found in a barn and located area. Please call her, she will be able to help.
Laura1985
Ive just phoned to groomer to confirm information. It turns out that Merry ran onto the Lewes Road, someone stopped their car to chase her off the main road, and she ran up the little lane next to the Pusey osteopath. The groomer has been looking in that area, but also believes she could have come back down slugwash lane, or indeed be anywhere in the fields and woods in the area. This area leads all the way back to Scaynes Hill and eventually Chailey Common. The time was 12.30 on Thursday afternoon, she has been groomed so had short hair.
innthedoghouse
Hi Julie, I spoke to the Pusey receptionist today, bumped into her by chance. They are in touch with owner and were open and looking yesterday
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Does someone live at Pusey the Osteopaths as I just wonder if she has got shut in somewhere if they are only there week days - not sure just a though. Julie x
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Have been out and had another look in Slugwash Lane especially around the wooded area with the ditch as that is a great water source - no sign of Merry sadly. I then travelled down to Lindfield but very difficult to stop on that road - I only mentioned the Walstead Road in case Merry had tried to go back to where she went missing from at night and then gone down that way instead. Do her owners live far away as the other option is she could try and return home when everything is quiet at night and in the small hours. Poor little mite I so wish we could find her. Julie
Shaggy
I'm out again with my dog later for a walk. If I know roughly where to walk, it would help. Is the groomer aware of this site and why isn't he/she helping? This isn't the time to keep a low profile. All hands to the pump. Whoever had contact with this groomer, please ask them to give more details of the loss, time date, exact details please..
Laura1985
Me and my partner spent 2 house searching today in woodland and fields at the HH end of Slugwash lane and did a large loop coming back onto the a272 and back down slugwash lane, so followed where she was last sighted. There is only 1 house at the top of the lane which seemed quite enclosed, so she must have had to run quite a way after that until she would reach the next house. IF THE GROOMER IS READING THIS- PLEASE CONFIRM WHETHER IT WAS THE FIRST HOUSE ON THE RIGHT MERRY RAN INTO. WE COULD BE FOCUSSING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD . No sign at all, and the area is huge as well as very overgrown. however on a positive note there is water and a lot of shade from the trees.
down2earth
I am hoping to speak to Merry's owner later. Do you have any experience of the dog communicator? Not sure about Walstead/Lindfield area re the posters but I have passed the word to all the dog walkers I know and Lindfield is on my dog walking patch. Just printed off more posters so will drive round and pin up more this afternoon. Last edited: 2013-07-07 14:30:08 by down2earth

Please try and contact a dog communicator, I am sure they can help. Are there any posters in Walstead and Lindfield?, I will check later. Please note we are a DOG WALKING BUSINESS, we are NOT the groomer and are not connected to their business in anyway. Just happy to help in the search. Surprised we weren't informed by the groomer on Thursday.Last edited: 2013-07-07 13:52:41 by innthedoghouse

The dog groomer lives on the same side of road as Slugwash lane, but on a272, just past Pusey the osteopaths. It would seem out of character for Merry to try and cross the busy and noisy 272, but we just don't know. A tracker dog would be good if anyone has contact with one yes. Thanks. Lynne
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Which side of the road is the dog groomer on - I am just wondering if Merry has maybe wandered down the Walstead Road although she was seen going to Slugwash Lane - will be going out shortly to have a look around. Does anyone know of a tracker dog that could help ? Julie x

Walked over two footpaths late afternoon/eve at the Wivelsfield end of Slugwash Lane, on both sides of the road. Saw lots of posters and spoke to lady on horse. She would have had good views over hedgerows. Alot of the land down Slugwash is privately owned so difficult to access much of the area. My husband walked this morning with our dog, who Merry knows, Lewes Road/Colwell Road footpaths. All locals vets have been informed. I am very concerned that no there have been no sightings at all?? Any advice or tips would be welcomed please.

Have all the vets in the area been informed? If anybody is reading this about Merry, please print off a poster! There needs to posters everywhere to increase knowledge of this poor little baby.

Hi, the poor owners. We will look again today. I dont know the name of the communicator. The name was given to them by Dogs lost. The dog was called Markie from Lindfield. I will try and contact the owner of the dog. I hope people are checking gardens and outbuildings. There are lots of woods, I am not sure whether she will run through these as the undergrowth is dense. I informed a farmer yesterday in a tractor, he will spread the word. She may retrace her steps, maybe leave biscuits. sausages, etc at the edge of the groomer's property. It would be useful for all updates on search locations, leaflet drops , etc, are documented on the search by the groomer or people searching.
Laura - feel free to give me a call- is that your mobile number?
Laura1985
Hi I printed off around 30 posters on Friday for the owners and they were going to leaflet drop all houses in Slugwash Lane. Yes I agree the pub and post office would be a good place for posters. I will be out looking today and will bring posters with me. what is the name of the dog communicator? As mentioned before the owners are elderly and are best communicated by phone. Poor little Merry
innthedoghouse
We have walked half way down Slugwash Lane, across the fields to the left and through the woods on the left, We then followed the public footpath which eventually leads onto the A272. There are only three signs and no signs on the A272! Have all house down Slugwash lane and Wivelsfield Village been leaflet dropped? Can a car be left in the Lay-by with a large sign advertising a Reward. It may be worth contacting the local papers, as this may generate further interest and help. Dogs lost have the name of a dog communicator. This person found a dog on Snow drop Lane, a few years ago. They told the owners the exact location! We will keep searching, another two hour walk tomorrow.
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
I will be having a drive and look round Slugwash Lane later on when it is cooler and quieter. So worried about this little one with the heat today I imagine she is hiding somewhere. Julie x
Shaggy
I shall be walking my dog later, so I'll help with the search. Can't quite believe the circumstances of how this little treasure is in this situation. How on earth has a professional groomer allowed this to happen? I know slugwash lane, it's outside of my village. There is a footpath along the side of slugwash, which leads parallel to A272. Is anyone co-ordinating the search? I haven't seen any posters yet. will print some off. Wivelsfield is at the end of slugwash and there are pubs and a post office there. Maybe they should be told too..

So sorry to hear that Merry is missing. Where is the dog groomer based? I hope they are helping with the search night and day. Have you contacted Pusey the osteopath? There's are kennels in Slugwash lane, it's worth letting them know too. We will search on our travels. Also, it's worth placing notices in the local garages, Scaynes hill and the pub opposite the garage. Fingers crossed for a safe return.

Thanks Shereen. This little dog is a rescue dog, ex puppy farm dog from Many Tears. She is dog friendly but afraid of men. She went missing from the dog groomers when someone opened a door. Owner is an elderly lady who has contacted all the authorities and put up many posters. she and many others have been out searching all day for the last 2 days. I have advised the owner on how to scent the area. Please share details as the owner is not computer friendly.
