- Do you know about this?
National Exotic Pets Theft Register coordinator: Contact John Hayward about tortoise thefts.
Tel/Fax:01869 325699
Mobile: 07802 404929
Pager: 07626 120425.
Though in this hot weather Gracie might have gone to ground, it's a good idea to contact John Hayward to let him know of her disappearance. You can always let him know she's back!
Do you have a photo of the plastron (underside)? It's like an individual fingerprint and varies from tortoise to tortoise. Useful for ID, the police and John himself. I know a tort who hides from the midday heat and comes out later in the evening: she's difficult to spot when hiding.
Check rubbish sacks too...
