Family devastated as puppy stolen from Rhyl
Published date: 25 July 2013 | Published by: Suzanne Jordan
A FAMILY have been left broken-hearted after the disappearance of their ‘furry baby’ puppy - believed to have been snatched by a couple in a car.
Gizmo, a 12-week old tan shih tzu cross with a pomeranian, is believed to have been taken by the couple in a car after he escaped from a front garden in Dyserth Road, Rhyl, which had accidently been left open on Saturday, July 20.
Neighbours said that they saw a woman pick up the dog up before getting into a car which drove away.
Gizmo’s owners, Laura Everett and Andrew Mortimer said their children, Elliot, 7 and daughter, 18-month-old Anais have been left ‘distraught’.
Laura said: “Elliot is saying that it is his worse summer holiday ever. Anais keeps pointing at the bed and looking under the bed for him. He was my furry baby. We were all really attached to him - the whole family saved up for him.”
Laura, who has had Gizmo for seven weeks, said that a Facebook group has been set up called Get Gizmo home.
Laura said: “We’ve had fantastic support. Hundreds of people are sharing his picture.
"Gizmo just went out to play, we didn’t have the chance to get to him. He was picked up by a female in her late 30s that got out the passenger side of a blue Ford galaxy estate. He was then taken towards Dyserth bends and not been seen or heard of since. The woman had blonde shoulder hair and there was a male driver.
“A witness has told us that the lady knocked on a neighbours house with Gizmo and said she was going to the police station. She never did.
“We have reported this to the police as we believe he has been stolen. He has a bottom jaw that sticks out further than the top. A reward is offered. We just want him back home.”
A North Wales Police spokesman said: “At 5.30pm on July 22, we received a report that a puppy had been stolen from outside a house on Saturday afternoon (July 20). The dog is a tan coloured Shih Tzu/Pomeranian cross-breed.
“The person who reported the incident said a female was seen getting out of a car and taking the puppy before the male driver drove away in a dark blue Ford Galaxy with a silver trim.”
Those with any information are advised to contact police on 101 quoting incident number P118423 or to contact Laura on 07710674584. - 2013-07-25 18:37 Nickydog
