Twinkles
Thank you Lis, we are constantly looking out for him and any new leads but like you say, let's hope someone scans his chip and returns him home.
Lis
I still look out for Cap on my journeys around the area. Hope one day his chip does its job and brings him back to you.
Twinkles
To mark 3 very long years without Cap, we published a story about him in a local district monthly newsletter. We have had no further information from this article. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
Twinkles
Mum has received three calls from someone living in Malvern late last night saying they have Cap. The line was poor and the number withheld. I hope it is not a hoax but if it is genuine please call again. Many thanks.
Twinkles
Cap, we still miss you and hope that someone is looking after you. We just wish they would take you to a vets and scan you for your microchip so you can come home.
Twinkles
Hi, does anyone know how to contact someone who has registered a found dog on Pets Located. This has been put on their site today but I am unable to make any contact to ask the finder to double check sex and microchip. This is very close to Caps home.

Twinkles nothing is a problem. We all keep Cap in mind when we find dogs that are this breed. Xx
Twinkles
Thank you Claire, noted. We will keep an eye on this one, it's difficult to say whether it is Cap or not without a picture. Will put a note on 89419 to see if the person who saw the dog can check Caps picture against the sighted dog. Thank you again xx

There is a post in Worcestershire facebook group: "Has anybody lost a Collie .......there is a black/white and Brown Collie looking very scared and bedraggled running up and down the road between Gaudet Luce golf club and Shernal Green"
This is near Droitwich in Worcestershire so not a million miles away from Bewdley. We are following up on this.

I still look for him on cross checking, Never say never. Cap has quite a few followers 42 at last count.xxLast edited: 2014-12-12 15:55:08 by ClaireC

A border collie has been seen on the A456 near The Running Horse pub, just outside Bewdley, at 4pm today. It was described as black and white, not sure about there being brown on it. When called, the dog ran off. This is the second sighting of a collie in this area, the first being some months ago, I can't remember exactly.
ClaireC
Good luck and really hope for the same for you xx
Twinkles
We have no news on Caps whereabouts. There have been a couple of false alarms in recent days of other dogs seen wandering about but these sightings have not been Cap. There is an identical dog in Bewdley. - 3 miles from where he went missing from. All Caps markings are the same even down to the three tiny black spots on his front leg, really uncanny, but this dog is defiantly not Cap as it has an extra white stripe on its face. With Bonfire night just around the corner, we live in hope of a positive sighting in the coming weeks.
Lis
I make it 8 weeks since last sighting so hope Cap turns up on time. Hoping you get your boy.
Esther
Hope he can be caught soon. I keep looking on here hoping for good news.
Twinkles
There was a positive sighting of a thin tri collie, 100% certain it was Cap, in the field by the usual layby on Saturday 16th August. The people who reported it are certain it was Cap and they confirmed that it was not one of the known wandering dogs as they went straight round to the owners. If this is Cap, then he may be making an appearance every 8 weeks in the same field.Last edited: 2014-08-24 18:29:10 by Twinkles
Twinkles
We have postered Garway Village and found out that there is a known tri colour collie which frequently roams around the common in the village, so this dog can be discounted. The other sighting was at night at Garway Hill which is close by but too far for it to be the same dog. Garway Hill is very close to Orcop Hill so we are hoping that the sighting on Garway Hill could be Cap but we cannot be certain of this. We have postered Orcop Hill, revisited Caps previous owners and distributed posters at Garway Hill. Let's hope there will be some news in the coming weeks.
Twinkles
We are following up on the found/sighted only collie, doglost 73112. The person who has registered this dog, saw the dog at night and is unsure of its exact colouring. We are going to poster the area over the next few days in the hope that we can ascertain whether this dog is Cap. Cap was born at Orcop Hill and we have always remained hopeful that he might have headed back to his original home, where he lived for 12 months before we had him. 73112 dog is believed to be living rough in the next village from Orcop Hill!
Teddys Mum - Area Volunteer, West London
Still checking on Cap. I do so hope that one day he is scanned and that chip brings him home...
Twinkles
It is 12 months today that Cap ran off in the early morning during a violent thunderstorm. We have not given up looking for him. If anyone knows of his whereabouts or has seen him, please report this to us.
Twinkles
Thanks Happiness, it doesn't sound like 72240 is Cap as the dog sighted was black and white. Xx

Doglost and Dogs Today - thank you for putting an advert in the magazine which I have just seen for myself today. My heart turned when I saw the photo - he looks beautiful, I so wish he was back home.
Twinkles
Thank you all for keeping an eye out for Cap and for your continued support. It has gone very quiet again. We get the occasional call which we always follow up and posters are still out in the local area. His profile remains high amongst the locals who are being fantastic. With the 12 month anniversary of him going missing, coming up, we are at a loss of where to go from here. I so wish he would put in an appearance long enough for us to get 100% confirmation that he remains close to home.
Ellie
Thank you both, with so many dogs going missing on a daily basis it can be hard to keep track and can be missed so it's important that anyone passes on any information that they hear of which can be followed up

I try and go back and match up potential matches if I've seen them on here or other lost pages x but yes I'll keep trailing the ads and hopefully some day he will show himself xx

Bumping Caps page as he is featured in the Doglost column of the August edition of Dogs Today magazine, out now.

Just want to say that I follow Cap's page and hope you get him home soon. I live about an hour's drive away, but if you want any help I'm sure I could come over.

Hope this brings some good news for you, just wanted to add a little post on here that I keep checking your page and thinking about Cap x
Twinkles
There have been two sightings of a tri colour border collie in the same place as previous sightings. The first one on Friday 13 Jun at 11 am was described as 95% certain that it was Cap. The second one at 7:25pm on Sunday 22 Jun, a poor photograph was taken of a nervous, frightened looking collie. The white stripe between the eyes is the same as Caps. We are working towards having a definitive answer to these sightings over the next couple of weeks. This is so we can gain either confirmation that this is Cap or gain closure.
Twinkles
We've had a sighting at 16:55 this afternoon in the same layby of a stocky, tri colour collie. The head of this dog was described matching Caps but the dog was said to have a long coat. The known wandering dog has a long coat but the white flash goes over the top of the head. The description was the white flash stopped just above the eyes. The dog was seen to go across the field and disappeared. I searched the field and found a fox run which goes straight onto the A456. This fox run did not exist last year so would appear to be a new run. If this road is crossed it leads straight into the forest. On the roadside I found some wiry straight white and tan hair which could belong to a dog. We still don't know if this is Cap or not though. Half the description fitted the known wandering dog and the other half fitted Cap.
Twinkles
There has been a sighting of a scraggy border collie with a very white front on the A456 near to Wharton Golf Club on Friday 30th May at 2pm. A fox is taking the food from the feed station, there have been no visits by a dog. We still have no 100% confirmed sighting that the border collie sighted in the area is Cap.
Twinkles
We have one nights camera footage. Very interesting but sadly not Cap. We are putting out dog biscuits and dog meat in a bowl and covering it with a small piece of carpet. Then there is a trail of urine leading to a safe place in a barn. A fox visited at 1130pm and very nervously took hold of the carpet and flicked it up and away under the hedge. It did not take the food. It revisited at 3:30 am and appeared to sniff where the carpet went. There is no footage of the carpet being taken though and the carpet has magically disappeared. That's the fourth bit of carpet gone! A neighbours cat visited in between the fox visits and scented the hedge but did not take the food. Thaen at Dawn break, two magpies ate all the meat and two crows made various visits and took all the biscuits. Fascinating to see and learnt a lot.
Teddys Mum - Area Volunteer, West London
Carpet may have been taken to a den. Good there has been another sighting. Put something down near the food belonging to you, he will recognise your scent. Good luck for Friday. I do hope you see him. Be sure not to frighten him.
Twinkles
The food was taken again last night. This time the two bits of carpet have been taken too! Does anyone know what this may mean?
ClaireC
Good luck x
Twinkles
Another sighting of a thin tri colour collie in the same place this evening. Food is being taken every night at the feed station which is half a mile away. I'm going to lay another drag trail later on this evening from the sighting to the feed station. I am planning a night watch at the feed station over Friday night in the hope that I can see if it is Cap taking the food.
Teddys Mum - Area Volunteer, West London
If this is Cap taking the food nightly then he will not move on unless someone really spooks him. The food source will keep him there. Don't forget to leave a bowl of water also. It is time to set up a trap. Good luck.
Spindle
Twinkles, can you puta trap in the place this dog is feeding and monitor it?

Esther
Really good luck.
AlisonH
Bumped due to sighting.
Twinkles
There has been a third sighting today at 12:10 in the same place as the other two sightings of a scruffy, thin tri colour dog. These sightings are a week apart and roughly the same time of day. Food is being taken every night from under a carpet. We really need help to catch this dog before he wanders off onto another patch.
BMdevon
I so hope it is Cap. Is it possible for you to set up a remote camera anywhere nearby? Just so you know its not a fox or something else have tasty suppers at your expense.
Twinkles
Food was taken again last night from the feeding station and various titbits I had left on the road leading to the feeding station have all gone.
Twinkles
I laid a trail as recommended yesterday afternoon, thinking it wouldn't do much good as it was raining and the roads were wet. However, the delicious smelling chicken was all eaten from under the carpet. I've been out to lay the trail again this evening and across some fields too, in case the smell washed away in the rain. It's nice and windy here at the moment, so hopefully the Worcestershire air if full of roast chicken aromas!
Esther
What about sardines ? People seem to have a lot of success with them. Good luck
Twinkles
There has been a sighting in the same place as last Saturday of a muddy, skinny, unloved, tatty, tri colour collie drinking out of a puddle late this afternoon. We love Cap and we so hope this latest sighting is him. The quality of the food at the feed station is being improved to tasty chicken.
Twinkles
Food was taken from under the carpet last night, still no further sightings. We are going to start moving the carpet a foot at a time down the lane to home until we can view it from the house.

Praps its possible to use a trap, sounds tome like this dog need help whoever owns it. Regular feeding first, then replace with monitored trap. Good luck
Gilo
If you are leaving food out and not sure if it's a fox you could try covering it over with a bit of old carpet. Ray the dog trapper from Birmingham suggested this too us when we were leaving food out out for our dog. The theory is that a hungry dog is meant to be the most likely animal to make the effort to shift the carpet. Certainly worked for us as we were able to watch Fly move the cover and get the food in the middle of the countryside with loads of badgers and foxes in that area.
duffs54
So hope that this is Cap, he needs to be back home poor chap xx
Twinkles
We are putting food out at the end of the drive at home which is half a mile away. It disappeared last night but it could have been a fox which took it. We are still not certain this is Cap, the exact description was a scruffy, very muddy, nervous and definitely a tri colour collie - a description which fits him. The sighting sounds very promising, however, Cap is so shy and nervous, we are just hoping this dog makes another appearance in the next few days. We could do with some more sightings. We are asking people not to attempt to catch him as these attempts may scare him out of the area and we would rather take the long, slow and gentle approach to catch him, if this dog is him. Time will tell!
silver
This does sound positive - any chance of a feeding station in that field?
Unknown
Hoping for a positive result here. Come on Cap lets get you home.

Bumped.
Twinkles
Any chance Caps page could be bumped up please?

There has been a sighting of a very muddy tri collie in the field where we had the trap 7 months ago! This is half a mile from Caps home. The sighting was on Saturday around lunch time and it has been confirmed it is not one of the known wondering dogs. Posters are still out from last year and neighbours have been alerted. No news since Saturday but we are keeping our eyes peeled.
Twinkles
Could found dog 68065 be Cap?
Cap has been missing for 8 months and Wolverhampton is not so far away.
Twinkles
Sadly not, not a single sighting but we remain optimistic.
ClaireC
Hi Twinkles any news of any sightings lately please?
Twinkles
We have been to see the lady who has sighted 65996 in the found section. The dog she has seen "could" be Cap but cannot guarantee that it is him. The dog has been seen by two other people in recent days. We spoke to one of these two people and he also says the dog could be Cap. There is no certainty though so we are keeping our fingers crossed for another sighting soon. The dog has been in the vicinity for two weeks. Everyone is being very helpful and we cannot thank people enough for their continued support. Cap needs to come home because we had his vaccination reminder come through the post last week, so he better make an appearance soon. If this is Cap, we will most likely require the help of the locals as the location of the sightings are over an hours drive away. Could an alert be sent to postcode HR8 please?Last edited: 2014-03-15 18:52:17 by Twinkles

There have been two sightings of the same collie dog on the evening of 31 January, one at 6pm, the other at 10pm at Doddington, Clee Hill. The 6pm was at the cattle grid from Clee Hill Common heading towards Doddington, the second sighting by the same person was 3/4 of a mile further down the road heading towards Catherton Common at the next cattle grid just before the turning towards Cleeton St Mary. The collie was described as bedraggled, dirty and had a white neck. The weather was very unpleasant yesterday and we think it is very unusual for a dog to be out and about for 4 hours and only travelled less than a mile. These sightings are about a mile from the Crumpsbrook sighting on 30 October 2013. We are visiting the area today and re-postering were necessary.Last edited: 2014-02-01 13:08:00 by Twinkles

All still hoping that you get a sighting again soon. xx

6 months today, Cap has been missing. Hopefully with the nights starting to draw out, he can't hide so much under the cover of darkness.

Good news there has been a possibly sighting, fingers crossed it's Cap and he is still in the area xx

There is an advert on Page 4 of The Farmer newspaper which has just been released. Unfortunately, the ad describes Cap as a bitch; so to confirm he is a neutered male dog. Lets hope that this advert will bring some news.

All crossed for another sighting xx
B30
I hope there is another sighting soon Twinkles and I hope it's Cap.
Twinkles
We have had a report of a collie dog with a thick coat being sighted in Abberley which is lot closer to home. The dog was so dirty the colouring could not be made out! As soon as it was spotted, it bolted across farmland. We have re-postered Abberley and visited various places in the hope that a second sighting will be reported soon.
Twinkles
We have postered Belmont Abbey, the woods nearby, Madley and Clehonger. We would appreciate if a photo could be taken of the tri colour dog in the area as it is too far to go chasing sightings unless we are absolutely sure it is Cap.
Twinkles
We are going to poster Belmont Abbey, Hereford tomorrow as we are getting information of a tri colour dog in this area. Tanya, I am following your dogs too, and if we pick up any information that might relate to your two, I will pass it on to you.
Tanya Sheehan
My parents 2 collies Sally & Scott have been missing from Brilley, Herefordshire, HR3 since 12th December. I wonder whether the collie seen at Bredwardine/Kingstone could of been Scott, he is also a tri colour and quite chunky. I hope you find Cap soon, its a terrible feeling x
Twinkles
There has been a sighting of a collie dog near Belmont Abbey, Hereford on New Years Eve 9pm. The person who saw the dog says it was very dark and having looked at photos of Cap, says it is possible it could be him. This is not too far from the sighting of a tri colour collie between Brewardine and Kingstone on Xmas Eve.
Twinkles
There has been a sighting of a chunky tri colour collie dog on a road between Bredwardine and Kingstone in Herefordshire on Christmas Eve. This is fairly close to Orcop Hill. I am still following up on this but wouldn't be wonderful if it is Cap.
Twinkles
There has been no news on Cap in recent weeks. We had a camera in situ at the feeding station for many weeks. Before the camera was available, I saw an animal in the hedge at dusk with a white front, sadly it was disturbed before breaking cover and we have been unable to identify what this animal was. Food was being taken very regularly but the camera decided to have technical issues over night and we were able to get it to record. We were unable to confirm whether the two sightings of a collie dog on the edge of the Wyre Forest, behind Far Forest were Cap or not.

We haven't given up in the search for Cap. We believe he is still out there, but have no idea where. A magazine is hopefully going to publish an advert in their January 2014 issue of which said magazine reaches many rural areas. I will continue to update as and when we get any news.
Twinkles
With all the activity of reported dogs in Herefordshire, we contacted Hereford and Worcester Radio who are going to make a report about Cap.
Twinkles
We have had a couple of calls about two border collie dogs, one found at Stamford Bridge, Worcestershire which is not Cap and another of a nervous female border collie at Wool Hope, Herefordshire which cannot be caught. Both have been in response to the advert in the Hereford Journal. Food is still being taken regularly from the feed station but rather frustratingly we are still unable to identify whether it is a dog or fox taking the food.
Esther
Thanks Twinkles. Fingers crossed for Cap
Twinkles
Thank you Sue for bumping Cap. We've had a report of a tri collie dog seen at Crumpsbrook today (Clee Hill) so I have reposted the area. No calls in response to the advert in the Hereford Journal but it is still early days. I will update with what is going on at the feed station in a couple of days.

Good Luck for some news soon xx

Found BC ref 58288 might be worth a look.

Twinkles we only have one registered member in WR15 (must be quite rural?) but I've resent to alert them that Cap may be in that area.
Twinkles
The postcode is WR15. It may sound a long way from home but when he ran last time (2yrs ago) he was found very near to Eastham on the other side of the River Teme at Broombank. The lady who reported the sighting says she never sees a dog on the roads around Eastham. So this was an unusual occurance.
B30
That's quite a long way from home Twinkles but I guess it's possible especially considering how long Cap's been loose now. Do you know what postcode this covers so that I can make sure that area has had alerts?
ClaireC
Everything crossed that this was Cap. Dear Cap please show yourself again xx

Received a call today of a tri colour collie at Eastham, near Tenbury Wells who was sighted on the road next to Eastham church yesterday, in fair condition. This was investigated, postered local houses and spoken to locals, including a farmer who owns a tri colour collie with similar markings to Cap, who lives near the church. His dog is friendly and would approach people. The dog seen yesterday ran off when called in an attempt to catch it. Eastham is approximately 8 miles from home. Could this be Cap? Or could this sighting have been the farmers dog? Hoping for some sightings in the next few days if it is Cap.Last edited: 2013-10-08 21:01:47 by Twinkles

So sorry it wasn't Cap:(
Twinkles
I've checked 58059 and this dog has a white blaze between both eyes, Caps white blaze doesn't go as high. It's a very good lookalike, even I had to look twice!
B30
Thanks Max
DogLostMax - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
Have spoken to owner to check out 58059.
Twinkles
Food was taken again last night by a fox :-(
B30
At last !! I hope he's back again
Twinkles
..... it's been a long wait, but something has eaten the dog biscuits overnight.
Twinkles
NN6 is too far away from DY12. We are the other side of Birmingham. As much as I would like to think this could be Cap, I don't think it could be because of the distance. If this dog is caught, Cap is microchipped and of course, we would have him back straight away, injured leg or not.
mathers22
Don't know how far away it is but there is a tri coloured BC sighted with a leg injury in NN6 area number 57736 it does say tri coloured and Cap has a bit of tan on him xx
ClaireC
Also give your local Royal Mail Sorting Office a poster. Cap may be sighted by early posties out on their deliveries likewise milkmen (if they are still in existence) in your area. Local Florists are another good postering outlet for when they are out and about. What about a local Radio Station maybe they could put out a request for a missing dog to their listeners. Ask friends/family to display a poster of Cap in their car. You would be surprised how many people are drawn to a poster in a car. Hope these suggestions are of use and apologise if they have already been done. Good luck xxLast edited: 2013-09-18 17:41:43 by ClaireC

Alerts resent to all HR postcodes. Please if anyone could help with a few posters in your local area it would be greatly appreciated.

The following Hunts have been contacted to pass Caps posters to their members: Clifton On Teme, Ledbury, Ledbury North and Herefordshire North.

We have made a decision to carry on putting food out at the feed station until we are absolutely sure that the dog in the area is or is not Cap. We need to identify what I saw in the hedge on 9th September. Going back through the list of sightings we believe the sighting on 20 August was Cap and if what I saw on the 9th September was him too, then there is a 3 week cycle of appearances. Therefore we are close to a 3rd sighting. In the meantime, if this is not Cap, we need to also focus on him travelling to Orcop Hill. There was a sighting of a tri colour stocky dog in a hedge, in a layby at Bransford, just west of worcester about 2 weeks ago. This is just under half way to Orcop Hill from home. Sue - could alerts be resent to the Herefordshire postcodes to resurrect peoples help in keeping a look out for him. It would be really helpful if people could pop a few posters up in shops, vets and food merchants and major road crossings for us. We can supply posters if needed. Many thanks.
B30
Twinkles I don't think there is much more that you can do right now unless you get any sightings to follow up. Keep checking with Highways though and keep in touch with your DW, vets etc though just to let them know that he's still missing.

Is the area used by horse riders? If so get a poster to local stables.
Twinkles
Half of the food was taken Friday evening but we have no idea what took it and nothing has been taken since. There have been no sightings for a long time either, so not sure what to make of this and where to go from here.
B30
It's gone very quiet again. Come one Cap, show yourself sweetie
Twinkles
Ha, cat doesn't like dog biscuits. No food taken and no show in the hedge last night
Twinkles
The black cat ate a whole tin of dog food tonight. Back to biscuits from now on. Nothing seen in the hedge tonight.
ClaireC
These darn cats get everywhere! Keep trying though you are doing all the right things. Good luck xx
B30
I hope it's not puss who's eating all the goodies! Encouraging that you could see something in the hedge though.
Twinkles
Food taken between 9:30am and 7:30pm, 9.9.13. Decided to stay for a few hours this evening. Saw something light coloured in the hedge, moving about and I thought it was going to break cover, until I looked again and it had disappeared. I looked to my left and saw the landowner coming over to say hello. Stayed for another half an hour and watched a black cat go and eat all the chicken! Fortunately I had a second load of food with me so topped up with that. Changing the food to good old tinned dog food tomorrow.
Twinkles
Food taken between 9pm and 9:30am, 8.9.13
Twinkles
No food taken during daylight hours today. Went back between 7pm and 9pm but there was no show. I'm going to stop the early check in the mornings and just replenish the food about 9.30am each morning and again in the evening. It's clear that something is taking the food overnight on a regular basis but I'm unable to catch it, so I can't see much point in being there. I've done all I can now.
B30
Oh how frustrating!! I hope you manage to see the 'eater' soon Twinkles. It would be good to know if it really is Cap
Twinkles
Went to the food station last night at 8:15pm, no food taken, went for a 20 minute walk, on my return all the food had been eaten. I can't believe I missed it. Anyway, I had decided to spend the night in the car to see if I could get a glimpse of what is taking the food. I parked fairly close but the car steamed up and made visibility difficult but I managed to stay awake all night except for two 30 minute kips, one about 1am and the other about 4:30am. There was another visit and all the food was taken, so disappointed I didn't see anything. Left at 7am, will check at lunchtime and again this evening.
B30
Me too Twinkles.
Twinkles
Food has been taken from the feeding station for the third night in a row, really hope that this is Cap.
Twinkles
Thank you lurcher lady. I have followed this up. It is border collie dog described as mostly black, some brown and flecks of white. It has been taken to the Collie Rescue, The Bog,at Minsterley 2-3 days ago. Forgot to ask what sex, but it is 10mths to 1 year old, so clearly not Cap. Have asked the finder to put the dog on doglost in the found section.

Two more food visits this since lunchtime yesterday. So that's 3 visits in 18hrs if my maths is right.
lurcher lady
A dog fitting your dogs description has been found near Craven Arms. Its probably not yours due to the location but might be worth a look.A "found" poster was put up in Wynnstay with two phone numbers: 07957267555 or 07711705538
B30
Great!!
Twinkles
Food taken overnight from the food station, first time in a week :-)

Yes, good luck xx

Bumped ...good luck...
Twinkles
A member of the public also reported remains of rabbit in the forest not far from the food station. I think this area would be unsuitable to set up a food station as it is just inside the Forest main car park and would be disturbed too much by other dogs, walkers, horses etc
Twinkles
There has been two sightings of a collie dog at the back of Far Forest, one was either Thursday or Friday. The other was this morning but again only rear view seen and the dog bolted. It was seen coming out of the Wyre Forest onto private land. This area is very dense with trees, very quiet and is the perfect place for a dog to hide out and live. As the crow flies it is about 1 mile from the food station and would explain why no food has been taken since Thursday. If he has been living on the edge of the forest it would again explain the lack of positive sightings. We think this could be Cap. Catching him is going to be interesting!
B30
I would put out more than once if you can Twinkles at regular times and smaller amounts. If he's only getting a bit to eat it might encourage him to visit more often.
Twinkles
Fresh food is being put out daily in the evening but when I change it (24hrs later), it has gone rancid and doesn't smell too nice! Today something has been through the hedge from the road into the field opposite where the food is being put out. Not sure what to make of this but the food wasn't taken. I'm checking the food 3 times a day to see if any has been taken. Should I be putting fresh food out every 12 hours in this heat?
ClaireC
Keep putting food out and most important keep positive. Good luck xx
Twinkles
The last couple of days have been quiet. Food was taken last Thursday with no further visits since. A collie dog was seen in the vicinity on Sunday afternoon but it moved so fast we still cannot confirm, whether this is Cap. It would be good if the dog would show itself in slow motion. It was also a very noisy weekend with a local pub with live outside music playing until late and lots of trucks being moved about. Hoping such activities will quieten down now the schools go back tomorrow, thus bringing a sighting.Last edited: 2013-09-02 21:35:51 by Twinkles

Thank you Sue, just replied. We now have a fox trap in our possession but we think it is too small as Cap's mate can't quite sit up in it comfortably. We have the offer of another trap too. Ray has been in touch, will keep you updated :-)
B30
Twinkles I've emailed you another couple of places that you could try.
Twinkles
we have so far tried Worcs Wildlife Trust, Cotswold Farm Park, left a message with someone local, Rays Farm, waiting for Vale Wildlife Rescue Centre to come back to us about a trap but likely to be too small, HWAR are on list to call, Have also tried a wildlife photographer but he has no contacts in Hereford and Worcester, RSPCA are constantly engaged. Have tried Ray last night and this morning but no answer.
B30
Twinkles, if Ray hasn't got back yet please give him another call.
Twinkles
Cap went missing two days before his owners birthday and she is devastated. We are into the 6th week now.  I have spent 10 days of my holiday looking for this dog.  We have been watching the sight, dawn and dusk and have done a 24 hour watch but we have not seen this dog ourselves.  We are both exhausted and I have to get some rest before returning to work on Monday.  The very nice, expensive food has been taken from the trail in the hedge, down the drive and all the meat has been taken from under the kennel carpet in the den we have set up.  This dog is visiting on a regular basis.  I have dog hair which is less than 48 hours old from the hedge run.   Does anyone have a dog trap or a wild life camera and be prepared to help us set it up or a tracker dog to follow the scent please?
B30
Great news Twinkles! Got to go out tonight after work and don't know what time I'll be home but I'll call if I can.
Twinkles
Another sighting at 8pm on the main road last night. Food taken over night. Sue - I have a theory, that if this is Cap, he is stuck! The sightings are in the middle of two adjacent fields that he visits frequently. It's makes sense to us!
B30
How frustrating when he's that close. Not the first dog who is so near to home but just not making that last little bit of distance. I wish he'd show himself when you have the dogs with you Twinkles.
DogLostOwl
Sometimes they just don't, they get set into a habit of living rough and keeping a low profile, and don't do the obvious thing to help themselves. Hope this is Cap, and that you see him soon.
Twinkles
1/2 mile from his home! He is trucked everywhere hence, if it is Cap, why he is unable to find his way back.
B30
Yes it would be good if you could see for yourself. Hopefully he feels quite settled in this area and will stay around. Is this still near to home Twinkles?
Twinkles
Another sighting this morning. The dog seen on Tuesday is definitely not the wandering dog from next door. We have the full co-operation of these lovely people. There have now been 4 sightings in the same place in 6 days and I am 100% sure that it is not the dog next door. Food taken twice. Just wish the dog would show itself when we are there!
Carol
Good luck in ur search for cap ,hope u find him soon xxxx

Spoke to the chap who saw the first sighting on Tuesday 20 August - I believe this could be Cap.
Twinkles
There was another possible sighting on Friday evening but still not sure if this is Cap or not. Doing a lot of work in the area at the moment. No further sightings since Friday.
Twinkles
Another possible sighting but not too sure at lunchtime today in the same place as Tuesday morning. Have searched all the hedges in the area and walked at large area scenting with Caps two mates.
B30
Ok Twinkles, just spoken to your Mom.

The road is scented, no further sightings. Just going out for a "dusk" walk with Caps two mates. Sue - if possible can someone call mum on the home number for advice on a particular matter please? Many thanks.
B30
Oh I do hope this is Cap and he follows the scent back home.
Twinkles
There has been a sighting of a thin and scabby collie dog in a hedge, 1/2 mile from home, 8am Tuesday morning. We are following up on this. The lady on the corner of the road has confirmed that her dogs have not been out wandering this morning. We know the landowner and will be putting food and bedding close to where this dog was spotted. We are also going to scent the road all the way back home. It is 4 weeks today that Cap went missing.
Twinkles
Have written and emailed to the vets in Herefordshire. Mum strongly believes that Cap will latch onto other farm dogs wherever he is.
Twinkles
ps: Cap now has a Facebook page:

Thank you all for your support. We had some news of a local dog that was struck by lightening and has gone to Rainbow Bridge :-( on the Tuesday that Cap went missing. News like this kinds of brings home the reality of the situation, so today I rode around the local country lanes and completely around the Wyre Forest on my bike, scanning the hedgerows for a body. I didn't find one :-) We are coming up with ideas of how to widen the postering area towards Hereford, the Clifton Hunt are going to put up posters and write an article in their September newsletter.
wensmum
Cap's poster on the display for Paws in the Park. I hope it helps

With Wyre Forest so close , and so large, - don't u think he might be hiding in there? I remember searching for another collie in the same area 2 years ago. Didn't I meet you then Twinkles? Searching for the same dog? Anyway, ill go searching for Cap in the forest over the next few days. By the way, I can see a poster of Cap from my front door !Last edited: 2013-08-15 22:33:49 by Neighbark

WV16 may be a good postcode to send posters to. That's where I am and am often in the general area Cap's missing from (as I have been today). Didn't see any sign of him but will keep a look out.
Twinkles
Posters will be appearing at the following livestock markets over the next week or so: Hereford, Ludlow, Worcester and Bridgnorth and on the notice board at Worcester Royal Hospital.
Twinkles
Thank you Sue, much appreciated. We would like to appeal to farmers in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire to look in their farm buildings and any derelict buildings to see if Cap has taken up residence! With harvesting currently taking place, we would be very grateful for farmers to be extra viligant in case he runs from the noise of tractors in fields. Please report any sightings as soon as convenient and again we would like to ask farmers to not chase him, but to try and keep him in their area by leaving food out. Maybe coaxing him into a lockable shed over time would help. Thank you to all who are following Cap and looking out for him. We are very grateful and would welcome any sightings.
B30
Advertised in this weeks Countryman's Weekly magazine. I hope it brings some news.
B30
He should be advertised tomorrow Twinkles. Once I get confirmation that his details and photo have been published I'll bump his page. Hopefully the extra media will bring some news.
Twinkles
We continue to look for Cap and poster in areas that we think he might be. There have been no phone calls or sightings for the last two weeks.
Twinkles
Thanks Neighbark. Your area is postered, Abberley, Pensax, Menithwood and down to Stamford bridge. Cleobury, Clee Hill, Eastham, Lindridge are all postered too. We just need people looking out for him in case he has headed off towards Bromyard or Leominster on his way back to his original home 5 miles the other side of Hereford.

Owner is visiting the premises where CAP was born to see if he has gone back there. She has put up nearly 400 posters and travelled over 500 miles so far. I have advised local radio. Local authorities have been contacted.
natalie0709
Hope you get Cap home soon, you have done a fantastic job with posters and getting the word out. I am on Clee Hill and everybody is looking xxx
B30
That sounds promising then Twinkles.
Twinkles
Have confirmed with the owner of the walkabout dog that their dog has not been walkabout in the last 24 hours. So this latest sighting could well be Cap. Trying not to get too excited! Will be walking the dogs this afternoon in the area.
B30
Oh no! Not a lookalikey in the area!

It this is Cap then it looks like he might be trying to make his own way home? Depending on the terrain you might be able to help him along with some scenting
Twinkles
Just had a call from Little Lakes Country Park to say two people have seen a dog fittings Caps description on the Lyehead Road and at the Wyre Forest Visitors centre this morning and last night. This is half a mile from his home. However, it is known that a dog locally wonders on this road so we are following this up now with the owner to check their dog hasn't been wondering in the last 24 hours. If it is not their dog, then it could be Cap.
Twinkles
Just had a phonecall from a lady who lost a similar dog on Thursday on Catherton Common and it turned up home at Coreley on Saturday evening. All the sightings we have had fits this dog. However, she received a call that a dog of her dog/Caps description was seen at Brompton Caravan Park near Cleeton St Mary on Saturday, maybe this was Cap. Will follow up tomorrow. Sue - thank you, no motorways or railways within a 15 mile radius.
B30
SY8 done. Twinkles are you in regular touch with the local authority in case of road accidents? How far away is the motorway? If he could reach it you also need to get in touch with Highways. Any rivers, streams, canals that he could get into difficulty with? If so, British Waterways. Any rail lines, Network Rail. Shame no new sightings but could be because of the weather. Or he could be covering a big area and just no one has seen him, I guess less people about too when the weather's bad.
Twinkles
No new sightings. Sue, can alerts go out to SY8 please. Thanks.
Twinkles
Currently thundering in the area, Cap is likely to be on the move, lets hope we get some sightings today.
B30
Thanks Donna and Roz for your help. Great that you have so much local help Twinkles. Just be careful about putting food everywhere. If you plot the sightings and can see a pattern to his movements it's better to choose a safe area and set up a feeding station where food is left at the same time every day to try to get him into a routine of going to one specific place at a certain time. Last edited: 2013-07-29 07:54:56 by B30

I have run off some posters and will put one in my shop tomorrow, as i have lots of customers from all the surrounding areas, i will put one in Clows Top post office and butchers also. Hope you find him soon. X
Twinkles
Have been out most of the day and in the evening again. No phone calls of sightings today but they are still coming through from yesterday, so the posters are working. Have spoken to lots of people and the whole area is covered, the locals are being amazing with their help and phone calls. Have dropped food piles around. We also have two dogs which accompany us in case we see him, which he will latch onto. Thank you to Roz who came out today and helped.
Unknown
Come on now Cap get yourself reunited soon, Paws xd.
B30
Well done Twinkles, you must be doing a great job postering with all these sightings coming in!

You don't really want people calling him as it's likely to make him run, coaxing with food and walking in the opposite direction would be better. Are there any shops around Clee Hill that have bins outside? He could be visiting places like that looking for food. If there are make sure that they know about him so that they don't drive him away if they see him.

Have you got any other dogs Twinkle? Or are there dogs that he knows who you could use? Often dogs will respond to other dogs rather than people, including their owners. If you see him and could let another dog off the lead to go to him then call the other dog back sometimes they both come back.

You don't know anybody with a bitch in season do you? Even though he's neutered it might still get his interest.

Just sent alerts to DY14. Good luck for today. Come on Cap, lets have you home XLast edited: 2013-07-28 04:58:18 by B30

We're onto him! Yeah! Having spent the day in Worcestershire he decides that Shropshire is a better place! He was sighted at Dhustone, Clee Hill on Thursday, Hopton Wafers on Friday, Mawley, Cleobury Mortimer Saturday daytime. Then at Hollywaste at 7:20pm tonight. Unfortunately he decided to run the wrong way, straight up the A4117 through Hopton Wafers, up the hill to Doddington and turned left onto the common. He has been seen several times today by various people, stopped when someone called his name. He is currently on the common at Clee Hill near Hints. Weather and fading light has prevented further search until tomorrow. Sue, can you send out alerts to DY14 please, Thank you.
B30
Thanks for the update Twinkles. I appreciate that it's a lot of postering but if people already know about him before he gets there you're more likely to get reports quicker before he moves again.
Twinkles
Thank you dialadog. A neighbour has a relative who lives 4 miles from Orcop Hill, HR2 and is going to put a poster in the Post Office there, in case he is heading that direction. The Heightington sighting was at 5am so fits in with the first sighting at 4am. We are going to concentrate the search along Netherton Lane, Abberley tomorrow and poster Astley, Great Witley area. The area of posting now covers a huge area from Newnham Bridge, Eastham near Tenbury Wells, Milson, Neen Sollars, Hopton Wafers, Cleobury Mortimer, Ribbesford, Dunley, Abberley. Really need some up to date sightings though to put us on a definite track. Sue, I think we are ok with postcodes at the moment but will let you know if necessary.

Great that you're getting reports, I know they're from Tuesday but at least it gives you a starting point. Hopefully all the posters bring in more sightings. Can you keep a check on the postcodes below that we've emailed and let us know if you need any additional codes doing.
Twinkles
Another sighting at Heightington on Tuesday morning during the storm. This is slightly further from home, about 2 miles. Could be heading for Dunley. Area has been postered.
Twinkles
Thank you Sue. Had a call last night from a lady who is 100% convinced she saw Cap at 4am Tuesday morning during the storm, at Little Lakes Country Park at Lyehead. This is more of a credible sighting as it is 1 mile from home. If he left his kennel at 3.30am, then this sighting fits. To get there, he would need to go over fields that he gets walked in, so the area would be familiar. But there have been no other sightings locally although the area was postered on Tuesday.
B30
Dogs who are really spooked often just run and run then when they eventually calm down a bit they don't know where they are so they start looking around for familiar scents etc. Twinkles, I've sent you some information about this which goes into a lot more detail. Have a read through it, if you can get sightings you may be able to work out his movements and where he's likely to turn up next.
Twinkles
Had a 50/50 chance of a sighting in Hopton Wafers this afternoon. Have followed up with a visit and postering but not sure if it was him.
Twinkles
6 miles from home, he certainly ran! No more news. We think he might be heading to his original home in Herefordshire. A place called Orcop Hill, HR2 - about 45 miles away.
B30
That's great Twinkles. How far away from home is he? Maybe he's tracking his own scent back home or to a familiar area?
Twinkles
Cap has been sighted in Neen Sollars at 9am this morning. No further details and in the direction the storm travelled in! Oddly enough this is not far from the area he was found when he went missing 18 months ago! Fingers crossed we find him soon.
Twinkles
Thank you for the advice and alerts. Cap did not show up overnight. I think he will have ran and ran until exhaustion hit him, no idea which direction he would have run in but guessing an easterly direction towards Bewdley/Stourport as the storm headed westwards. He is likely to stay in quiet, rural spots, will be lost and disorientated and we are now reliant on sightings. Last edited: 2013-07-24 09:35:05 by Twinkles

Owner, firstly all 'A' roads are covered by the Highways Agency and not the council. If he managed to cross the A456 he could have gone into the Wyre Forest and be hiding out in there. Lots of dogs hide out in bushes where they feel safe or any outbuildings that are derelict. They have also been known to hide out in peoples gardens. Sometimes scared dogs just keep running until they run out of steam and they then get their bearings. Lots return home of the own accord a few hours later.
Twinkles
Cap is an outside dog. Went to put dogs in shed at 4:30 this morning due to thunderstorm and he was not in his kennel. He has jumped an 8ft fence to escape and ran away. He is a nervous dog and is unlikely to be caught be anyone. Please do not attempt to catch him. Please phone the number and leave a message. Lizzie, no need to call unless you have specific information on where a terrified dog would run to! Will get a photo up this evening.
