I'm afraid I have some sad news that came from Zoe's family this morning:

"It is with great sadness and regret that I have to inform you that the body of our beautiful Zoe has been found on the railway at The Grange, Runcorn. A Network Rail employee, doing routine rail checks, kindly took the time to contact us using the information on Zoe’s collar. My sincere thanks go to everyone who helped with the search, especially our friends in Runcorn, Janet and Ken and Sue and Keith, your heroic efforts were truly appreciated."

Hi, I have had an UPDATE re the dog I mentioned below in the Town Park in Runcorn. This IS NOT ZOE. That dog has been picked up today and taken to a local vets. It was described as a 'black Airedale' (I am thinking possibly a Patterdale??) and it was apparently not in a good way. The lady who passed me this info will update further over the weekend.x
Babs68
Hi, me again, sorry! I have just been looking round the Town Park. I spoke to a lady walking her dog and her neighbour MAY have seen Zoe 2 days ago near where she went missing. The neighbours saw a 'very thin black dog' in a field off Palacefields Ave. They went home and came back with dog food but the dog had gone. They looked around Manor Fell estate but could not find the dog. The field where the dog was seen is behind Manor Fell, just over the Road from Iveagh Close on the Guinness Trust. This is really close to where Zoe went missing! Has she returned to where she was lost?? I looked all around the field but could not see anything, but thought I had better report it x
Babs68
Just searching AW site again and there is was a 'lurcher' found in Stockbridge Village, medium size, black with white markings, female, found 9th Aug. 311976. Another one to rule out, maybe? I will go and search around Halton Village again this morning. I hope Zoe is found soon.x
valerieWA7
Is any more news on Zoe??
Babs68
I know Zoe is described as a greyhound, but there is a 'found' large female crossbreed, black with white front on AW website, ref. 314422, found 31st Aug in Runcorn. Might be worth checking out just to rule it out.xLast edited: 2013-09-01 16:33:13 by Babs68

Had a phone call last night from The Laurel's, which is a vets near the old Town at Runcorn. Pauline posted there I think. A lady called in to the vets and saw the poster and said she had seen Zoe a fortnight ago in The Calvers, which is an estate not too far from Castlefields in Runcorn. The lady concerned thought that Zoe belonged to someone as she was just walking around.

Keith went out to the Calvers last night, and postered around, went in the local pubs and spoke to people. It looks like this is a definite sighting of Zoe, and it looks as if she has returned near enough to the area she was lost from.

We need another sighting now to narrow the odds.
Vizsla55
Walked around Moore Meadow, then across the other side of Moore on Saturday. Went to Norton Priory yesterday, walked the Big Wood, Phoenix Park, Bridewater Canal to Preston Brook and back. Nothing I'm sorry to say. Looked in all the hedges and undergrowth including driving very slow on the bypass back home looking around trying to see anything. Hope Zoe is found safe and sound very soon. xx
companion care vets
Hi I have put her poster up in Companion Care Vets inside Pets at Home in Widnes. Hope you find her soon.
Vizsla55
sue-keith what part of Moore was the sighting - there is more than one way in from Moore. You can get in from the Runcorn side through fence (ship canal will be on your right, one from Moore Lane (main way in), then the back way off Chester Road, goes onto I think Baronet Road - Mersey river is on your right. This also links onto the Trans Pennie way. I am going there tonight after work will take posters and speak to anyone around if they have seen her. Stay safe Zoe we are looking for you. xx

A nice lady called Pauline has been making some phone calls on our behalf. She has found out that Runcorn strays are taken to Merseyside Dogs Home which is sited at the RSPCA kennels at Halewood (they rent the space from RSPCA). Also Janet, a neighbour of Enid (the owner of the Zoe) phoned around the dog wardens yesterday.

It is also believed by someone who knows Moore Nature Reserve that Zoe would not be there on the grounds that there is only one way in to the reserve and one way out, and it would have been difficult for her to get to from the area she was last seen in.

In the meantime I have spoken to Enid's family, and the family are wanting to make it very clear that they are willing to offer £500.00 for the safe return of Zoe. Enid herself has recently come out of hospital and is bereft without Zoe.
Alex
There have been no sightings of Zoe (confirmed or unconfirmed) since the one on the 30th which is believed to be genuine. Zoe was homed from the RGT, and her chip is still registered to one of their branches - all local branches have been notified. Unfortunately until there has been another sighting it's difficult to know where to start an organised search as it's such a large area with lots of woodland.
Julie34668
How accurate was the sighting near Moore? I was wondering if it could have been a traveller's dog that was spotted as greyhounds are a favourite of travellers. Still hoping she will make her way back to the town park and home. I am happy to join in an organised search but not sure how useful it would be until there is a more recent siting. Fingers crossed the poor girl is home soon.
valerieWA7
Hi. I am near the old town but my sister lives near Norton/Sandymoor. I would also be happy to join in a dedicated search if one is organised? X
Rosey
Just to say the share poster with email option does not seem to be working? I keep getting 'invalid email address' ...?
Rosey
Praying for a sighting. We're in East Cheshire but happy to join any dedicated search and can bring other hound friends - and general friends/pairs of eyes along. How about involving local senior scout group/cadets, walking groups anybody with map reading and trekking experience could be really helpful. With larger numbers we could cover larger area ...
Carol - Widnes
Shared on facebook, I have friends in the area where Zoe was lost/sighted, I will keep on sharing to make sure she stays in people's minds, hope she is home soon.
Vizsla55
We will keep our eyes open on walks, we do Moore regulary and Norton. Have printed some posters off and will hand out to everyone we see. If you get anymore sightings we are happy to help on a search. Fingers and paws crossed Zoe is home safe very soon. xxx

Bumped as I know you have had problems posting...glad our techie sorted them out and tx for the update.
sue_keith
Hi - at least i can post!! More recent Keith and I out this morning with our hound but no success in the Town Park where Zoe was walked. We postered around, and in some cases re-postered where they had come down.

Last night sadly some youths sent me on a wild goose chase to Beechwood Railway lines, obviously no Zoe there.

Pauline a kind lady living in Runcorn has phoned Cheshire Dogs home (not there), RSPCA Halewood and Warrington no longer take in strays, but Zoe's details are with Animal Wardens.co.uk. I spoke to A.W last week and they will take in a dog now for the Dog Wardens in Halton, but operate themselves after 5 p.m. and weekends. I will phone them again tomorrow.

We need another sighting now to see where she is headed, it is 7 days today. Her owner in hospital is bereft, and I don't think she will get better until Zoe found. Zoe was her life, its very sad, and sadder still that Zoe is very shy.
Chris
I keep sharing on FB in the hope people in the right area will see and start postering and passing on the message: guess binmen, local sorting office for the postmen, delivery depots etc have had posters. good there was a sighting a couple of days ago, all crossed for more
Rosey
We're out of the area but wracking brain trying to spread the word to more members of public. Just to say we've spoken and sent poster to Warrington golf club and Runcorn Swimming Pool/rec centre and posted on Woodland Trust facebook in case members walking through their 'Big Wood' which appears to be en route to Moore, spot her?? Needle in haystack. Saying our prayers.
Alex
There have been no sightings of Zoe since the 30th, despite posters all over the area (Norton, Sandymoor, Moore). Unfortunately there are very few people out looking for her and the area she may be in is huge. If anyone is in the area and can help please call Sue on 07903 549306.

Alex thanks for the UPDATE. Great there has been sightings of her and people are out postering and looking out for her. I will update the details.

BUMPED due to sightings.
Alex
There have been sightings of Zoe some distance from where she was lost. In the Norton / Sandymoor area of Runcorn and possibly heading towards Moore. There are folks out postering and looking but it's a big area.

Zoe's owner is in hospital at the moment so it's unclear exactly what ID she has.

Shared Zoe on FB - hoping for a fast and safe return x
Alex
She is still missing, she bolted as a result of the thunder and I'm told it's still thundering in the area so she may have gone to ground somewhere.
Chris W
Is this Grey still missing as I have seen it on quite a few Facebook pages but no updates, just sharing.
