- Please see Found 56851. This dog was found very dirty and thin at Colliford Lake,nr Bodmin, with a blue collar and black lead still attached. The police did a search of the area, found nothing and have no missing person reports. It was picked up by a kennels (out of hours) from Launceston Police Station, who seem to think it went to RSPCA Longdown (Exeter). I tried RSPCA Little Valley Kennels near Longdown who say they don't take strays. The Dog Warden Devon say Launceston is Cornwall so would not come to Devon. The Cornwall Dog Warden will not give any information, even the sex, of the dog to anyone other than the owner. So the only option is to post this to all Border types lost. PLEASE register as lost with the Dog Wardens (and remember they have it listed as a Border Terrier) for them to release details of where it is. Cornwall DW 0300 1234 212. East Devon DW 0845 241 7253. - Time reported as being 10.30 am on Wednesday. Owners have postered that area in case someone has taken him in not realising he is reported as missing. Last edited: 2013-08-24 12:01:43 by Ellie

- Did the lady tell you the time of day she saw this person? It would really help if we knew.
- 2013-08-23 11:21 Ellie
- There was a call from a lady who spotted a similar looking dog with a gentleman in Victoria Road, Whetstone yesterday morning, so advised owners to poster around there. It may be completely innocent but just to make sure no one has found him and not realised they should hand him in we need to get the word out that Sandy is still missing
- 2013-08-21 18:28 Lin
- Great to hear about the advert. we haven't given up but need a sighting to focus our efforts. we have covered miles and postered everywhere we have searched. Lets cross everything that we get that vital sighting or better still he is caught.

- Owners have received no new sightings or information since the 10th. They are hoping to get an appeal out on Radio Leicester

- It is the fun day at Animal Aid, Huncote on Saturday so I will take posters and fliers over tomorrow to ask the staff to display

- Just heard of a sighting on woodyard lane, whetstone on saturday 10th at 230am. There are fields at the back of woodyard lane and vicarage Lane and maybe that is where he is during the day? The fields at the back of both lanes lead onto the tip. Had a good look around but no sign of sandy. looked around new bridge road and spoke to a lady who thinks she has seen sandy but can't remember when.Last edited: 2013-08-15 21:35:53 by Lin

- With Sandy seeming to keep going south wards it started to cross my mind that maybe he was heading towards Animal Aid Kennels at Huncote where he had been rehomed from just 2 weeks before he went missing. I don't know how long he had been there but perhaps the scents are imprinted in his memory. I thought it a bit too odd to mention but Jessica from his family has also voiced the same thoughts. It really is not far at all from Whetstone where he was last seen, as the crow flies so posters that way might be valuable.
I have postered my local villages this side of Lutterworth just in case today. - 2013-08-13 15:45 Blaze
- I've just come back from riding around Whetstone / Blaby area for about an hour but unfortunately nothing to report. No sightings of Sandy
- 2013-08-13 06:03 Ellie
- Last sighting known to know is Wychwood Road but people are seeing posters and other sightings in Whetstone have been Winchester Avenue, Trinity Road (park) Victoria Road, Vicarage Lane (behind pub) The Dicken (park) Cambridge Road, Burnham Drive, Dog and Gun Lane, Badger Drive, and Wychwood Road.
Thank you those people postering further in case he moves out of the area. - 2013-08-12 22:48 Lin
- Sandy's owners have postered littlethorpe and narborough this evening. we will go out there tomorrow evening with our dogs. hopefully get lucky.
- 2013-08-12 21:56 vicky
- i will try to get some posters out at countesthorpe tomorrow evening, and the back end of blaby, hospital lane areas etc just in case he has gone that way. is there anyone who can poster around littlethorpe and narborough areas? if we can poster beyond where we think he is we may actually be able to make people aware he is missing before they spot him.
- 2013-08-12 21:38 Ellie
- Thanks for reporting this Lin, this is the last known sighting up to now and thank you for postering Cosby. We must try to get in front of him.
- 2013-08-12 21:06 Lin
- Just spoken to someone on Badger Drive Whetstone who saw Sandy on Thursday evening about 9pm. He tried to coax him to him but he ran off over the brook towards the Co-Op on Wychwood Road. We have postered the area and also postered around Cosby tonight. we will be out every evening this week. hope we get a new sighting soon.

- Ellie and I searched the fields at the bottom of Vicarage lane, no sighting I'm afraid. We also postered around there and Jubilee park, and along from Whetstone to Blaby. We spotted many other Doglost posters during our travels :)
Also lovely to meet you ChrisP, spotted out postering also! - 2013-08-11 12:35 Ellie
- Thanks ChrisP, Vicky and Jo, you are all such a big help. Snowdrop and I are just heading out now. We will start at Vicarage Lane and poster where appropriate Leaflet dropping through the houses on Vicarage Lane might be useful too.

- hi chris,
i have also printed some off :-) not sure what time i will get down there, iv got a few jobs to do at home first. i was thinking we need posters on vicarage lane, top and bottom end because he has been over the road to trinity road. i was also going to put posters on foulds lane as he could easily be on there. the garden he was in on vicarage lane backs onto the gardens of foulds lane. also off winchester avenue (the industrial estate) there is a cut through under the railway into some fields about half way down winchester avenue, it will be a good idea to poster there too. we need some posters on the gates into the field where the fair is so everyone going in there is aware he is missing. then we need posters on newbridge road as the cut through from the industrial estate leads to there. also i dont think the cut through from newbridge road to cork lane has been postered so that needs doing too.
how about you do the whetstone side (vicarage lane, foulds lane, winchester avenue etc) and i do newbridge road side inc the inductrial estate, the fair ground, cork lane etc? - 2013-08-11 09:48 ChrisP
- Hi Vicky I have just printed off some posters and will go out about 12.30. Don't know whether we can meet up. Plan to park on Vicarage Lane.

- been out again today, once for a drive around the whole area this morning and again tonight with the dogs for a walk around the great central railway area. no sightings but spoke to a couple of people who have seen posters on the great central way but no sight of sandy. met up with Jo, DW this evening. also popped down to vicarage lane but again, nothing. will try to get some posters down there tomorrow. there is supposed to be some major building work going on near vicarage way starting monday so hopefully this will push sandy back up to the glen parva area. Jo, DW suggested the owners call the railways as she says they are very good at keeping an eye out, so if this hasnt been done maybe its a good idea? will go out again tomorrow.
- 2013-08-10 20:34 B30
- Oh no, what a shame, just highlights how posters are so important. Let's hope he goes back there.
- 2013-08-10 20:31 Ellie
- Still no news from today's search but Jo, DW just rang me to say he was sighted on Wednesday in a garden in Vicarage Lane , whetstone at 11.30 am Unfortunately the householders didn't realise he was missing and let him go. We badly need posters in this area. Last edited: 2013-08-10 20:39:01 by Ellie

- Just back, nothing to report though. I took my dogs with me and went from the Eyres Monsell end onto Glen Hills Nature Area before going along the Great Central Way to the Locks. Sat quietly for a while in a secluded area watching and listening before going back over the permissive paths a different way back to the car. The problem is with the woods and dense undergrowth it would be very easy to walk right past Sandy without noticing him. A very good water source all around which is perhaps why he is staying around that area.
- 2013-08-10 10:39 ChrisP
- Went out for a couple of hours this morning 6.30 to 8.30am. No sightings. Dog walkers around the area are aware he is missing also the paper boys are aware. Also took a drive round Whetstone and the tip but nothing. There is a fair on the field at Blaby.

- me and hubby went out for a couple of hours tonight between 6 and 8pm for a drive and walk around the area mainly highlighted in the map. but we also went a bit further too. we took one of our own dogs with us but sadly we didnt see any sighting of sandy. we walked the full length of the path from the end of cork lane right down to the canal where the lock is. at this lock there is a footbridge over the canal that dog walkers use to cross the canal and sandy could very easily use this bridge so may well have crossed the canal now and be on the other side. the great central railway from this footpath is extremely overgrown and you cant really get down it but a dog could. there are so many slip ways and paths that lead from one place to another that it would be very easy for sandy to slip past anyone looking. hopefully tomorrow when there are a few people out someone may get a sighting. also there is a gala day on the park at the memorial hall tomorrow so although there will be lost of people around that area who he may shy away from, it may also be the best chance of a sighting that we get. if someone can get down there and hand leaflets out to everyone at the gala day you will really be able to spread the word that sandy is missing. elaine fisher has my mobile number so if someone has a sighting of sandy and if im around locally i can shoot down to help follow it up.

- This is the message from Sandys owner regarding tomorrow's search:
We think Sandy is in the area marked on the map and any searching you may feel you want to do should be concentrated in this area basically between Great Central Way from Gees Lock to Hills Spinney
We feel he would not have crossed the canal but using GC Way to move about
The pathway parallel to Glenville Avenue gives easy access to this area (he has been seen on this path). Also good access to Bluebell Park and the grassy area at Gilmorton Ave. Hills Spinney is connected to both these grassy areas
We also think he is going towards Eyres Monsell via Grange Drive and Hillsborough Road sometimes as far as Swinford Woods and Monmouth Drive usually in the evening 5.30 - 8 pm time
Also last weekend he was spotted in Whetstone near the Kafir Inn/Burnham Rd roundabout after which he was seen going back towards Guthlaxton Trail and since then he has been seen within the area previously described
Sandy is a friendly dog and not at all aggressive but he is a rescue dog and a little nervous of people. If you are close enough stand still better still sit down he may be enticed by treats Do not chase him or try to run after him this will scare him away, also he is very quick - You will not catch him!!!
He likes other dogs, he may want to play so please bring your dogs. It's a nice dog walking area
Any time you can spare will be greatly appreciated and even if we have sighting gs only we will be extremely grateful, we miss him terribly and need him to come home. He has already had a troubled life and really deserves to be looked after properly!
If you even just catch a positive ID or see him please contact us straight the way.
We are going to be close by all day on 07952 066980 - 2013-08-09 11:25 B30
- Good luck with the search tomorrow, I hope there's a good turn out and that you come home with Sandy X

I do not wish to waste owners search time and can only do the afternoon myself so anyone who would prefer a more organised search with me again I will contact.
Sandy is a rescue and in his new home only 2 weeks. Owners taking all advice on board

- Have had a long talk with Sandys owner. We are organising a search all day on Saturday. No meeting time and place as people find it hard to commit to that but just as many people searching the area please or indeed any time they can. If they can poster along the way it would be a help.
Workmen near the at the road works have been informed.
Most sightings of Sandy seem to be 6-8 a.m. And 6-8 p.m. His triangle appears to be centred around the Great Central Way, going to Eyres Monsell, Bluebell Park near the County Arms, Hills Spinney in the Glen Parva area - 2013-08-07 08:16 Ellie
- Sighted again yesterday (Tuesday) near the newsagent on the corner of Grange Drive
- 2013-08-05 10:58 Ellie
- Update from Jo, DW. Over the weekend Sandy has been seen at The Vicarage Pub and on Vicarage Lane, Whetstone then on Trinity Road before heading back to Vicarage Lane. At the bottom of Vicarage Lane there is a gateway straight into fields that connect to the Great Central Way and Leicester Road,
Also a livery yard on New Bridge Road have been alerted as their fields connect to the area.
Am wondering if an organised search party can be sorted. Unfortunately I haven't got a working mobile at the minute Last edited: 2013-08-10 20:27:45 by Ellie - 2013-08-05 07:39 B30

- Updating Sandys page on behalf of owner as they are having trouble getting back on
There have been more sightings and someone nearly managed to catch Sandy.
He has been seen on Trinity Road and Victoria Road in Whetstone and most recently at the Industrial Estate on Winchester Avenue in Blaby
DW has also been out tonight and is checking the site - 2013-08-03 18:03 Ellie
- Bumping Sandys page as he was sighted today first on Leicester Road, Blaby then on Vicarage Road, Blaby. He is running away if approached so given owners further advice. If anyone sees him, just keep him in sight and notify owners immediately.
Friend who works at pet shop in Blaby is fully aware as is agility trainer in Blaby , they are spreading the word Last edited: 2013-08-04 02:20:17 by Ellie - 2013-07-31 21:18 Ellie
- Bumping Sandys page as owners have just informed me that a gentleman out walking his dog has sighted him going under bridge on Marsden Lane which is near to where he went missing from
Have given all details of how to react if they see him themselves. Fingers crossed! - 2013-07-31 16:00 Ellie
- Searched the woods with one of my dogs this afternoon where Sandy had been previously sighted but nothing to report I am afraid. Added more posters to the area and a nearby park. Blaby is only a short distance over fields so if anyone could poster there it would be appreciated. Emailed poster to Witsend School for Dogs which is based in Aylestone.
