- just one more thing, I have looked on dog lost under lurcher, lurcher cross, greyhound, greyhound cross, collie cross , mongrel and crossbreed but can't see any dogs that match his description. Just going to look in "lurcher search" which someone has told me about....

- He's just been collected by the dog warden but I felt terrible handing him over. He's on his way to Appledown Kennels as we speak. I don't think he's a traveller dog, he's thin but not emaciated, there are no fleas or cuts/scratches, he's clean in the house and not at all spooked by household noises (most of the strays I take in for foster are). I really think he was newly acquired by the travellers in the area as he's more like a family pet than a typical travellers dog :( He's going to serve his 8 days at Appledown and then will be up for rehoming. Please can everyone keep their eyes peeled for any stolen dogs matching his description, I believe some family out there may well be looking for him

- Thanks for the comments, yes there are travellers nearby Nickydog but as he's in such poor condition I'm not sure I want to head up that way to hand him over, they may say he's theres even if he isn't? I've got hold of the dog warden now, thanks. She's asked me to hold on to him for one more night because they've been so busy today :( She will collect him tomorrow and he will go to Appledown to serve his 7 days, if not claimed he will be up for re-homing so I plan to step in at that point if he's got nowhere to go.
He's been lovely in the house with my 4 dogs and my kids. He has been on walks with us and has a great recall. He's a real darling.
Thanks for all the help x - 2013-08-04 12:06 AlisonH

- I have just loaded a photo of him on here, the ID tags and collar are mine; when found he was only wearing a thin leather collar and chain which was attached to the cage (which incidentally was the appropraite size for my Jack Russell terrier, way too small for this poor lad to be comfortable in). I have been trying to call the dog warden at Appledown Kennels all day and the number is not being recognised. I am using 01525 220383, can someone tell me if there is another number to call please?
