- Bruce got back by himself after all that! Amazing. Bruce's owners' parents came to collect him. Here is what his Charlotte his carer said: "He is good, hay feverish eyes, lost a little weight but developed some leg muscles bless him...but after a few mins he acted like nothing had happened, happy bouncy and excited to play. I caught him :) Saw him walking up the road but had left my front gate open that leads to our back garden. So I knew I just had to wait and then carefully sneak round to trap him in and close the gate. He was scared at first but soon came round for cuddles and lots of food.
He ate 4 tins of food, a bowl of biscuits and a bag of snacks... plus water mixed into every food to hydrate.
So pleased to get him back, was a very stressful week but very thankful of all the local and online support :)" Well done and welcome home Bruce. x - 2013-08-18 16:52 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

- Happy Friday :-)))) just the best news to wake up to, welcome back home Bruce. Well done everyone involved you worked amazingly well together and it paid off.
Message from owner: He is back :) so excited!!!! Left my gate open with food in my garden and I was able to sneak behind him and trap him in :) thank you x - 2013-08-15 22:39 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- So hope this works and soon! Gamekeepers - partridges. Not always nice - and yes he could do that - has been known. Do everything you can to keep him away. Re traps, I hope you are manning 24/7 as it can be detrimental to wildlife if caught and even Bruce if he is caught and not out let out quickly. Plus, we had issue in the past where a stranger deliberately let a dog out and it didn't end well. At least every hour, trap must be checked. We do have access to a large trap but someone would need to be responsible for it and know exactly what to do. You cannot risk any mistakes or he'll never go in one again and that's that. See how you get on with the other dogs. If you need to discuss, pls call us. Thank you. So wish Bruce would get home now. - Sighting yesterday morning and this morning at fen farm, but nothing else yesterday despite people being in the fields for 5 hours yesterday.. One farmer being an issue and will possible harm Bruce if seen going for his partridges... So we urgently need more traps to set up, we haveoneat bird farm but he is seen more at fen
If anyone knows where I can get traps from please let me know, got one from the dog warden
Have a lady doing a dog walk up there today with her shar pei and bitch on heat too so hope that is tempting, then owners in laws are coming up to wander about. - 2013-08-14 23:41 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Any news? Slow, quiet calm monitoring. Gently does it. Come on Bruce, please come back now. xxx

- Bruce's people said farmers are on board - thank goodness! All fields are now cut - thank goodness! Explained re everyone that is helping must NOT chase. It is imperative that no one chases or spooks him. Too many people can be a daunting prospect for a fur babe especially one who has been terrified by a combine harvester and whose owners are not around. I have suggested that only one person (preferably, Bruce's carer) becomes visible if he is seen and that they stay low and helpers kindly remain hidden until he is caught. Remember he is a dog and dogs can smell people. He must come to you - on his terms. We don't want him moving away from this area. So far, so good. Thank you so much to all those who are helping this lovely boy and his carers. His owners will be very grateful to you all. You can do this! Come on Bruce. x

- Can see from Bruce's FB page that you are looking after him, scenting can be done in different ways.....as he had been with you for a few days, the contents of your hoover cylinder may hold some scent as well as his bedding, but if need be, can someone get the contents of the hoover cylinder from his own house to you....scent will be much more familiar, as will any other bedding or clothes from his house/owners, use these to scent to a safe place on the farm :-) x

- I agree, you definitely need to enlist the help of the farm as he seems to like it there. I'll let Kimmybear know in case she misses this and she can advise you further.

- Does the farmer at Tye Farm have an out building they would be willing to let you use? as this is the second sighting there perhaps he feels quite confident to stay in that area, Kimmybear sent you scenting info, perhaps you could scent to the outbuilding and leave some of his bedding and some food there, keep doing this, (we did this with a little one last year who had been seen on a farm and she returned to the barn and was reunited :-)) and hopefully you will keep him in the area long enough for you to either be called or someone to catch him.....or would they let you stay on site and keep watch.....definitely need to speak to the farmers, I am sure they would help out x
