Great news to start the day....

The saga continues...

Alfie was spotted barking in Ashdale Grove, Stanmore at 1.30am.

A dog owner put out some biscuits on her doorstep and Alfie eventually came to eat them. She then brought Alfie in and shut the door.

We woke up this morning to a message on Facebook from our sister-in-law's first cousin's friend, who had taken him in. They Googled the phone no. on the tag and found us.

Having done much soul searching, Alfie was finally ready to return and came home this morning.

He is looking well, is as playful as ever and is shortly going to the vet, then a haircut and massage.

A HUGE thank-you to friends, family, acquaintances, dog lovers and everyone who assisted in the search.

Wishing you all much peace, health, happiness and harmony.

With Much Love
lesleyjane
Just back from the area, no sighting but put a few more posters up, including in All Saint's Church Hall, spoke to the Harrow guys who tend the cemetery and are there daily from 8am...left them poster. Lots of woodland, streams etc where Alfie could be laying low, just hope he stays in the area.
lesleyjane
Will head up there this afternoon, really warm so he could be hiding til the eve but fingers crossed he makes an appearance! I have printed more posters.
JJ
little devil will try again but cant promise. when we were wandering around Bramble close and saw Mr Rat i was very worried. a) was there poison anywhere - not at the speed Ratty moved when he saw us and also there is a stream there and i wondered if he could have been drinking foul water. seems like doggod on his side.
rjk
Thanks for everything, Simon is there looking and asking around right now, we just need a sighting!!!
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Just back from the area. Some posters are up now & as rjk has said, people are being informed, handed flyers & this has brought us another sighting from yesterday. Really good to know that Alfie is looking ok. He is on the run, scavenging ,lets hope we get some more sightings & can close the net on this little monkey soon.
I have sent you the maps lesleyjane ;-)
lesleyjane
Thanks, Stef is emailing me more details/map. I will try to get over there in next few days, printing off more posters later too. Great that he seems to be well, little tinker!
rjk
We have just returned from there. Elm Road is just after the large restaurant on the left. There is a cemetery on the right as you go into Elm Road, and we have checked inside the cemetery, along with another local cemetery and park in the area. We have given out some leaflets and bumped into Stef who is also meeting people, giving out leaflets and putting up posters. We are told by the lady who saw him yesterday that he looks well, which is good. Let's hope he is sighted and handed in, soon...
lesleyjane
Where is this Elm Rd, please, rjk?
rjk
We've just met a dog walker who spotted Alfie in the cemetery in Elm Road yesterday. He wouldn't go to her as she had her own dog. We are now looking in another cemetery after the restaurant and surrounding parks.Last edited: 2013-09-01 18:00:10 by Aunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London

Owners are going to the area now also.
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Thanks lesleyjane. Someone is going to the area now to have a look round. I will get over there a.s.a.p.
lesleyjane
Oh, shame if he has moved on, but with no sightings in old area for a day or two this could well be the case. I don't know this new place, Stef, will wait to see how things progress over the next few days, I am busy til towards the middle of next week unfortunately but can help out again if needed on Wed.
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Alfie could possibly have moved out of the area. A possible sighting of him yesterday morning (31/8) in the car park of what was The Leefe Robinson ,now Miller & Carter on Brockhurst Corner,Uxbridge Rd. This is on the main road between Stanmore & Harrow Weald/Hatch End area. I have left a message on owner's voicemail.Last edited: 2013-09-01 14:06:11 by Aunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London

I will try & get over there at some point today to get some more posters up. Thanks Ann & JJ for your help here. We need some new sightings of this little dog now.
JJ
we did, went round the back of all the shops and up and down the road to the park entrance. was difficult looking for a little black boy in the half light but we had torches so could see reasonably well.
Ann
That's probably where I mean, JJ - lots of rubbish been left there, looks like bags for charity have been upended and searched. I think the gated area backs onto the building site but the gates would be shut evenings/weekends; I thought the owners might give it a try during the working day to see if the site was attended and if there might be a spot Alfie could be hiding or had been spotted. I haven't crossed over the road to check the area behind the station itself - it was quite busy on the road when I was there.
JJ
where is this alleyway we crossed opposite the tube and tried to go down an alleyway to the right but the gates were shut. that was about 8 last night.
Ann
I've been over again today. There are a number of industrial waste bins been left by the big gates to the building site. I walked through to Canons Park Station - there is a contact board for the building site in Hitchin Way giving a name and number for queries. I walked to the scruffy alleyway, four blokes in there looking like they've made it their "patch", quite friendly and haven't seen a dog. Stuck my head around the vet there - they weren't aware of a lost dog locally although the receptionist did look it up while I was there. Worth asking to put a poster in their reception (I've only got the old phone numbers on the ones I have).
One dog walker I spoke to not aware of lost dog, met a bunch of nice kids, none knew. Need more posters up, I think - inside the station somewhere if possible, on bus stops etc - need pedestrian traffic to be aware.
Unknown
Hope this little one will be found soon. All xd.
JJ
just back no luck either. we started off around the back of Bramble close and wandered around found one fat rat who hurried off went to the suggested overgrown pathway. it is now blocked by a gate and and a large dumper truck behind it. Found a poster and stuck it up behind the notice that said No entry hard hat area.wandered down Hitchin Lane -only feral youth about. met old aquaintance who lives in Vancouver Road was not aware of another dog there and one gone missing but he will pass the word around and he is a good guy.cant help Sunday.
rjk
We've just been out again. Noone has heard or seen anything. Please note the best no's to contact if he is spotted over the next 24 hours are either 07976-657326 or 07919-155091.
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
I have posted a request to keep a look out for Alfie on Dima Yeremenko's Facebook page.
Thank you JJ & Ann ,as said any posters , flyers handed out to the people attending these events could bring in that vital sighting.
As far as I know the last sighting of Alfie was on the morning, before 8.30 am, of the 28th August.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Bumped!
Ann
Alfie had been seen before at Barnet Football Ground - have they been contacted? There is also an alleyway opposite Canons Park Tube, same side of the road as the footpath into Stanmore Fountain - I walked down there on Saturday, very overgrown and shabby - perfect for hiding.
I'd suggest an hour on the phone to a few places - the building site main offices and see if you can find someone to take pity and maybe let you on site. Barnet Training Ground will probably have a groundskeeper. Canons Park Community Centre. Maybe try a couple of the companies on the industrial estate - it's a three minute call at worst. Have a little list of what to say - missing since *date* / been seen *date* / is there anywhere you could put a poster? Keep it short unless they want to chat ...
Dima at Good Boy Dog School is at Canons Park on Sunday - if you can't make it yourself, maybe you could put up a few posters near where his dogs will be showing.

Do we know when the last sure sighting was? I was within feet of Alfie at 1.15pm on Saturday. Utterly frustrating.

JJ
please may i add something to Anns comment about posters at the open day.?
earlier this year we spent a lot of cold evenings in Neasden looking for a dog - sadly unsuccessful. BUT at 1/2 term we were still doing Gladstone Park where there was poster of Caitlin. a 6?7 year old boy dragged his mother across the playground to a puppy. Not Caitlin but looked similar and to this little boy and his friend the puppy's facial features looked similarto the poster. wonderful! so the children there on that day were also clued up. if there is an open day might not the children get interested and use eyes instead of fones? we cannot come as we are going to Northants G'Hounds gala day - in Crick, but i thought i would add this.
JJ
hello. have now taken friends to station and we have car back. have to sought our dogs out but thought to come down about 7.30pm for an hour. head for howard road and go down to Bramble close?? any other suggestions, cannot be longer as Emily has bladder problems or would it be of use to bring the dogs with. they are greyhounds one likes sniffing the other not worried.
rjk
Thank-you everyone for assisting and caring. We have just come back from a recon of all the major places he has been spotted over the last week. We have handed out lots of leaflets, put up posters and we will keep praying...
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Have been all around the area again this morning. The food you left Ann,thank you,was there last night but has gone this morning & it is definitely fox poo that was next to the food, foxes do leave this by food & I recognise it as coming from a fox. Also I saw a fox ,last night, coming from the building site under the gates,he took the dentastix left.
rjk - Ideally the food that needs to be left near where you scent should be quite smelly & something unusual to the dog , eg tinned Pilchards or similar. This is explained in the scenting instructions. I wouldn't advise putting this in front of building site gates on the tarmac as it is very messy & I don't think that is fair to the residents but I would try & put some out ,in a container ,perhaps in the wooded area between Howard Road & Bramble Close.
Thanks for the tweets lesleyjane ;-)

Sorry to hear no sightings for a couple of days, I have got lots of RT's about Alfie so hope the word is spreading and someone will see him soon. I don't have any free time for a while now, sorry, but will keep checking in here for news. x
Ann
I did a detour home last night and also saw the food I'd left at 7pm on Wednesday evening still there at 11.30pm last night (I think that's fox poo, btw). That is the spot where I saw Alfie on Saturday afternoon - it's not an exact science that the food is still there, but it's Pedigree Chum Puppy food, and I would have expected it to have gone.
I'm thinking he may be locked in somewhere - try and think on the "no news = good news" for the time being.
Would you like some hand bills printed for the Canons Park Open Day on Sunday? I'd suggest 4 on an A4, double sided, so if people do see Alfie they may have kept a small bit of paper with the number on rather than go looking for a poster - ?
I'll try and get out again tonight, but will definitely be over tomorrow morning.

*Also - have you been able to speak to the site manager for the building site? There will be a poster up on the hoarding wall somewhere for a contact - maybe they have a locked storage unit - it's worth asking when someone is next on site if you could look around, or leave a bunch of handbills with the site workers?
I'm so sorry I can't do more.
rjk
We were out until 1.30am and didn't see anything, other than some dog excrement, by the dog food left.

We are off again shortly.
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Thank you JJ. Hope you get all the car problems sorted.
JJ
now where has he gone. will do my best to go tomorrow pm. car should came back and visitors go tomorrow afternoon
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Have been to the area all around Stanmore Place tonight. Owner & I sat at either end of the building site,Howard Road & Hitchin Lane,to see if Alfie did go through, only saw a fox. Will try & get over again first thing in the morning.
JJ
i am sorry we cant get to you. it was right near there where the car with our visitor( with M.S) ground to a halt yesterday morning. could not be fixed on site nor towed yesterday so we await breakdown services to call us to try and get it garaged today. we hope to have it back tomorrow in which case will try to come tomorrow evening. please keep updates on phone going though.
rjk
I've been out since early this morning. I've been walking around all sides of Stanmore Place, Bramble Close, adjacent areas and cannot see Alfie. I have spoken with people, none of whom have seen him this morning. I am waiting by the gates of Stanmore Place where he is spotted running out of in the mornings.
Ann
Nothing at all from this evening, sorry. Spoke to a few people who had seen posters but no pooch. The buidling site was very quiet indeed.

Has the Canons Park Community Centre been told - the lady from Bramble Close said they are very active. Also - this Sunday is the Canons Park Fun Day - lots of things happening, so may be worth having a few leaflets to hand out and posters up in Canons Park itself (I cycled around there, it's Massive)! The Good Boy Dog School are performing there. Truthfully, I'd hope Alfie would be home and dry by then -
I'm tied up tomorrow but available Friday night and some of Saturday, if I can help. Miss Fitz/Ann
MissFitz
I'm planning on coming over this evening - expect to be around the area between 7pm and 8pm - it's getting dark at 8ish these evenings and I don't have a light on my bike :) . Am also bringing my lad with me. 07846 039660 - that's his number because like the numpty I am I've put my phone somewhere "safe" .....
rjk
We have spent much of this afternoon driving around and speaking with locals. We ideally need to have both sides of Stanmore Place covered when it gets dark and at dawn, as it appears this is when Alfie is on the move again each day.
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Thank you Dee. Good to know & yes,Alfie could very well stay for longer inside the site boundary if he feels safe & undisturbed there. I have let owner know.Last edited: 2013-08-28 16:52:56 by Aunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Dee
Just to let you know, there will be no activity on building site from tomorrow, so thinking he may hang around a bit longer if there are no machinery/people walking around. Fingers crossed he thinks that way.
JJ
sorry we are no help but we still have visitors and we now dont have a car as it broke down this morning.
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Will bump Alfie up now with this lastest sighting. I think you could be right rjk,Alfie could well be retreating to the building site overnight as there is nothing to disturb him there.
rjk
Unfortunately no joy. We think he goes tot eh building site to sleep at night as it's safe and he knows he won't be disturbed. The question is where he is residing during the day. We are going to put up some more posters now and then try and look again for his day residence. We are taking some scent with us.
lesleyjane
Good luck, fingers crossed. Around this evening if needed? 07759 012977
rjk
We are heading there now.

If anyone is free to come and assist, that would be great. Please call 07779-663381 for information on where we are heading.

Thank you Dee. I have left a message on the owner's mobile voicemail.
Dee
Alfie has been spotted on Stanmore site again this morning, but the workman where unable to catch him. So he is still around this area.
JJ
sorry could not do 2night or next 2. we have visitors. we did look out for another dog in Burnt oak but went up to camroes and down and then further round on our way back did not seeAlfie either sadly.
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Thank you for posting this up Ann & for your post lesleyjane. I had seen it on Facebook also & think it is a very good article & guide on how dogs can behave when on the run & in survival mode. This can apply to all breeds, crossbreeds & sizes.
rjk ,hopefully you were able to place some scent articles today. This might well get Alfie returning & increase the chances of him being spotted more.Last edited: 2013-08-27 17:57:13 by Aunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London

Four of us have been looking early this morning and at lunchtime, in the areas where we have had sightings, and noone we have spoken to has seen Alfie. Praying for a new sighting...
Ann
So pleased the owners are home and looking - can I post this, please? Something a friend who runs a rescue in the US posted on facebook about lost dogs
http://nodogaboutit.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/why-your-lost-dog-may-not-run-back-to-you/
- thought it worth passing on. I was within a couple of feet of Alfie and he ran straight past me only glancing in my direction when I gently called him.

Edited to add I'm also available Wednesday evening after 7pm, sorry can't do anything before then.Last edited: 2013-08-27 09:41:02 by Ann
lesleyjane
Owners, please be aware that he may be scared even of you......he is in survival mode and may not react as you hope/think. Great that you are back and will take his familiar items to the area, please follow the scenting advice from Stef too. If you see him adopt a low posture and call him gently over, no sudden movements.....but I really hope for good news soon. Let me know if you want any help, I am quite local, am around on Wednesday pm.
rjk
Thanks for everything, you have all been wonderful, we will hopefully bring this to a close very shortly.
rjk
With immediate effect, please call 07956-113537 or 07779-663381 if there is any news. We have been away and just returned. We are Alfie's owners, and this has been terribly stressful orchestrating from abroad withouot being able to go out ourselves. You have been seeing my brother Simon who has been wonderful. Now that we are back, we will be out from tomorrow with his pillows, his cushions, his treats and us calling him to come home. If he is spotted, we will be there in a flash, and hopefully, he will come running.
lesleyjane
That's great news, I have just returned from the area, was there for 90 mins...parked in Bramble Close and walked around by the stream etc and then back streets to Canon's Park, but no sightings.
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
There was also a sighting yesterday behind Amber House again so hopefully this means Alfie is still visiting that area. I was over there this afternoon & saw Alfie's owner as they were putting more food out to keep Alfie coming to a particular spot.
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Someone was there with the trap on Saturday evening & there was no show from Alfie. I am trying to get the trap back to me so that I can regularly set it up & man it. Sorry lesleyjane & MissFitz can't give any set up times at present until I know when I'll have the trap back but will let you know immediately when that happens. Thanks again for your help here.
lesleyjane
Just got home and seen this, too, what a shame he has seemingly moved on just as a trap was being sorted out. Has it been set up yet? I have some time tomorrow afternoon so will go to entire area for a scout around.
MissFitz
Sorry - just seen this. I checked at 1am Sunday morning and the treats I'd left at Stanmore Fountain Place at 3.30pm Saturday had gone, so I left a handful of dry puppy food. Checked today at 5.30pm and the puppy food was still there - checked again at 10.30pm and the puppy food was still there, so it does look like Alfie has moved away from the building site.
rjk
There has just been a possible sighting in Chandos Recreation Ground, which is in Merlin Crescent, off Camrose Avenue.

Can anyone go down there with some food and treats?

If you see him, please DON'T RUN AFTER HIM, gently call his name and tell him it's time to go home, and that you have some of his favourite food.

Thank-you.

Fingers crossed for you...
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Thanks lesleyjane ,I'll see if we can sort out a shift system to cover as much as people are able to do.

rjk , I think that would be a very good idea. As I have said from the start any familiar articles, scent, bedding etc could very well keep Alfie returning to a particular spot. The scenting & tracking notes I emailed on the 18th Aug explain this in more detail. So ,yes, please do put out a crate with Alfie's blanket, toy ,bedding or used towel as well as your own or family member's socks etc all with your scent on them.
rjk
Do you think it would help if we set up his cage where he goes when he;s not feeling well and one of his favourite cushions in it? We would set this up where he seems to be currently residing.
lesleyjane
Oooh. looking hopeful.....please let the trap do the trick!! I can do some hours manning it on Monday afternoon/eve if needed, let me know.....sorry but busy til then. x
Ann
That's brilliant. I'll go over again at some point tomorrow, this time with bicycle and hope it's not raining so hard. Ann (aka MissFitz)
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Thanks Ann. I have just got a trap over to the area which will be manned at some point this evening by the brilliant guy who has done so much to get Tessa ,lost in Holland Park, back. Hopefully this might bring some results with Alfie.
Ann
Got there at 1pm today - had a walk around, then thought I'd sit in the car by the gates where Alfie had been spotted. Literally just turned the engine off when he appeared - squeezed under the gate. I managed to open the car door quietly, had a bag of dog biscuits in my hand and called him, but he was walking quickly up the pavement right next to the car, looked at me but didn't stop. By the time I'd grabbed my phone I'd lost sight of him. On site electrician said he'd been told by two women he was walking around the lake - friends of the owner arrived, we walked up to Bramble Close and he'd been there, minutes before, next block of houses up he'd been seen there too, within minutes. Back to Stanmore Fountain and he'd been seen by the cleaner there within 5 minutes but had growled at her when she'd tried to catch him.
Frustrating - it's raining hard, he didn't go back through the gates as I'd left some treats earlier, I waited about an hour just in case but have had to come home.
BBKM
Sad to read Alfie is still missing but great you are getting regular sightings and have been so close to catching him. It is very likely he has a safe den somewhere and like previously said it is probably on the building site or in the school grounds. Any chance a feeding station can be set up with a little food (not much so he will return) and water and maybe an item of his owners clothing. Once he starts coming regular for food you can then maybe set a trap and hopefully he will go in. It takes time and patience to catch a scared dog. You are all doing brilliant and I hope he is home safe very soon. Good luck.
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Thank you JJ & MissFitz. Alfie could well be hiding in the building/development site overnight when it is quiet but he could also be doing this in the school grounds as he could easily get under the gates. I feel he could be using the building site to get from one area to another,it's likely to be part of his regular route/circuit.
MissFitz
I parked in the industrial estate and had a walk around Fountain Court, up Honeypot Lane to the green at the end at 8.30 this evening. Met one resident who knew about Alfie (think she thought I was after pinching her dog, me with a lead and all) ... There are lots of undergrowth parts where he could be hiding. Will go over again tomorrow.
JJ
the ? engineers/ service men last night said he went under the gate at Fountain court does he go and hide on the building site?
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
Have driven & walked all around the area again, haven't seen anything, spoken to more people, most seem to know about Alfie including the very helpful caretaker of the local school who will keep a check on the school grounds etc.Last edited: 2013-08-23 18:19:16 by Aunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London

UNFORTUNATELY, ALFIE HAS STILL NOT BEEN FOUND.

IF ANYONE SPOTS HIM OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS, THE BEST NO'S TO CALL ARE 07976-657326 OR 07919-155091.

I will get over there now,in the meantime,I was putting this post together for MissFitz so will post it up for reference :
Thank you MissFitz & lesleyjane. Here is a list of the roads Alfie has been seen in most recently(this last week) . Listed in order moving very roughly from just South East of Centenary Park, through park onto Crowshott Ave, adjoining roads then across Honeypot Lane towards Canons Park Station.

Moorhouse Rd
Portland Cres
Culver Grove
Centenary Park
Crowshott Ave
Pickett Croft
Lamorna Grove
Honeypot Lane
Howard Rd (Fountain Park/Stanmore Place)
Building development site beyond Stanmore Place.(Went under gates)
Between there & Whitchurch Lane
Canons Park Station.Last edited: 2013-08-24 08:41:02 by Aunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London

ALFIE WAS SPOTTED BEHIND FOUNTAIN PARK AN HOUR AGO.

ONE PERSON IS ON THE WAY. PLEASE CALL 07802-483031 IF YOU ARE ABLE TO COME AND ASSIST.

WE ARE SO CLOSE, AND ARE PRAYING FOR HIS SAFE RETURN BY SUNDOWN, IF NOT BEFORE.
lesleyjane
Good idea, MissFitz, if I am not manning the trap for Tessa I will come over in the afternoon, but I don't have a bike so will drive/walk. I did arm myself with sausages last time I went!
MissFitz
I have free time tomorrow (Saturday); thinking I'll chuck my bike in the car and drive over, then cycle around the area - got to be quicker than walking and more effective than driving. I have a tin of tuna to hand to entice Alfie to come to me rather than me go to him, which is obviously a problem for him. Suggestions of routes would be appreciated - planning around Crowshott Ave etc. I'll happily print posters. I put a few up last night with "tear off" strips with phone numbers.
Fingers crossed this poor baby gets found today.

Has anyone seen Alfie since last night. He is so close, and we really need all the help we can get.Last edited: 2013-08-23 08:12:21 by rjk

Thanks for looking. He is so close, yet so far. Let's pray for good news today...
MissFitz
I walked around the outside of the park with my dog - very dark, quite a few "youths" around inside the park making loads of noise, so would doubt Alfie would come out. I had another walk around the Stanmore Fountain, met a security guard there who says he is aware and the owners phone number is in the office. I drove around the eindustrial state too around 9.30pm, very dark and too many places Alfie could be hiding. Disappointed, sorry.
JJ
we had no luck but everyone in Howard rd knows about him, concierge then 2 staff members said what again? daunted we then went and scoured the industrial estate by the fire station all the properties but mainly to see if we could link into where Alfie would have got to having shot under the gate this morning. no-one asked what we were up to but no one had seen him - very few people at 8.30pm - we went up then to canons park station but by then it was getting too dark to see a black dogs with the glare of headlights so came home 21.00.
MissFitz
I had a walk around the Stanmore Fountain estate too around 6.30, quite quiet around there. Spoke to owner on phone and headed over to Centenary Park and surrounding roads, put up a couple of posters. Going back in about an hour.
lesleyjane
Off to work but will check in regularly, come on Alfie, home time now!

Have just been over to the area of last sighting whilst being in touch via mobile phone to rjk. Driven around the Stanmore Park new estate,Howard Road, stopped & watched for a while, walked dogs around there & then popped back to Centenary Park, walked round, drove around the various roads near there where Alfie has been spotted before, needless to say, nothing but have studied the area on the new development,Howard Road & Alfie could well be using this as his route from Centenary Park across & through the building site, under the gates, onto the area near Canons Park Station. This would include crossing a very busy road which is a concern.
Will try & get back there this evening at some point.Last edited: 2013-08-23 16:06:20 by Angus

FINGERS CROSSED BIG TIME!!!!! XXXXX
rjk
Alfie also responds to "Alfie, walkies", especially if you have a lead. He loves being taken out.
rjk
Alfie has been spotted in Fountain Park, a new development in Stanmore Place on Howard Road, off Honeypot Lane, Stanmore.

There are around ten people trying to coax him over and someone was within one metre of him 20 minutes ago.

There are people knocking on the doors there. If anyone has any other sighting, or indeed has Alfie, please let us know.

Alfie is nearly back home and is responding to his name, still apprehensive though. He will respond to things like:-

"Mummy & Abba are coming to take you home"

"Alfie, do you want to have challa tomorrow night?"

He also responds to whistling.

Whoever finds him first, which we  are hoping will now be within the next hour, can you please call either 07976-657326 or 07919-155091. His vet is Glen at Wellpets on Mowbray Parade, Edgware, where he will go to be checked out etc.

Thanks ever so much to everyone, we are nearly there, he just needs a little more gentle coaxing.
lesleyjane
That's great, MissFitz, he may well be out and about at dusk. Sorry can't join you, good luck and great you will poster.
MissFitz
I had a quick drive around last night between 8.15 and 8.45. Can help this evening - be there from 7pm and will do some posters. I'll check here before I leave *just in case* - my number is 07941927758. Ann

Back home, drove round roads and walked round Centenary Park, raining hard so Alfie probably laying low. Spoke to some local dog owners, they were unaware of Alfie being missing but one had seen him in the past few days in Pickett Croft, saod he had grass, leaves etc on is back, tried to catch him. I gave them owner's phone number. Think, once rain has stopped, more posters are needed in that area as hardly any are up? Can anyone help as I am busy for the next couple of days?
lesleyjane
Have local postmen been asked to keep a look out? Worth contacting local sorting office, maybe?
lesleyjane
Poor lad, raining now too. I'll head over after my nightshift, around 7am, armed with sausages!
JJ
cant do anything now might be back tomorrow evening will try to help. Have put a bit on Facebook maybe some local folk will see it. Dont promise but worth a shot i thought.

WHEN SPOTTED LAST NIGHT AND TODAY, ALFIE IS NOT LOOKING IN A GOOD WAY.

HE SEEMS TO BE HANGING AROUND CENTENARY PARK, CULVER LANE, CROWSHOTT AVENUE AND THE ROADS OF THESE ROADS, ONT EH SAME SIDE OF THE ROAD AS THE PARK.

THERE ARE FOOTPATHS BETWEEN ROADS WHICH HE MAY BE USING.

CAN ANYONE GO TO THE PARK EARLY MORNING, AS HE WILL BE SPOTTED AT SOME POINT AND IF HANDLED GENTLY ENOUGH, HE MAY JUST COME OVER.

WE NEED PEOPLE LOOKING WITHIN THE PARK ALL DAY IDEALLY.
rjk
ALFIE HAS BEEN SPOTTED TONIGHT IN CENTENARY PARK, QUEENSBURY.

IF ANYONE IS FREE TO COME AND JOIN THE SEARCH, THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

PLEASE NOTE HE IS RUNNING AWAY WHENEVER ANYONE RUNS AFTER HIM. PLEASE DO NOT RUN AFTER HIM. TRY CALLING HIS NAME AND BECKONING HIM OVER.

HE WILL RESPOND TO HIS NAME AS HE DID WHEN SOMEONE SPOTTED HIM YESTERDAY.

THANK-YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

He is turning around and answering to his name.

Noone has managed to lure him to them yet.

If anyone is out and free to join in the search, please call 07976-657326 or 07919-155091 for where the team is looking.

Thanks lesleyjane. I did go over there earlier today & had a look around, met Alfie's owner but didn't see anything. Will try & pop back again this evening, as you say at dusk.
lesleyjane
Sorry, walked round the area for an hour, spoke to people but no sighting. Think it may be more likely he's laying low in the heat/noise and may be around again at dusk? But that's when I have to go to work!

Glad he is in familiar territory and hope he finds his way home, are owner's neighbours aware in case he returns when owners are out looking?
DogLostAunt Stef - Area Volunteer, West London
I have just come back from driving all around that area for the last hour or so & didn't see him. It just shows how important sightings are. I wonder if this little guy is trying to get himself back home via the route he took when he ran off? He is definitely nearer now.

ALFIE WAS SPOTTED THIS MORNING WALKING UP CROWSHOTT AVENUE, STANMORE, WHICH IS OFF CENTENARY PARK.

CROWSHOTT AVENUE LEADS TO KENTON LANE ONE WAY AND HONEYPOT LANE THE OTHER WAY.

IF HE IS HEADING TOWARDS CANONS PAK OR HONEYPOT LANE, HE MAY FIND HIS WAY BACK HOME.

PLEASE KEEP UP THE SEARCHES, WHICH ARE REALLY APPRECIATED.
rjk
We have people now searching vurtually around the clock and noone has seen Alfie today. Has anyone seen him and not reported it?
Shereen
yes Lesleyjane!...Alfie is in survival mode so needs exactly that...Owners,Im going to send you an email with further instructions on what to do,please look in your inbox and if not there may go to your spam...it will be going to the email listed under Alfie's registration.
lesleyjane
Am I right to think that Alfie may even be scared of his owners at this stage, and if they see him they should crouch down and call him softly??
lesleyjane
Great that he is staying in the area and that so many locals are aware and helping. Are there any tips on how to proceed from here, please?? So near to getting Alfie reunited now, would it be an idea to get some of his bedding to the area? How frustrating that he was actually caught! I am sure owners would appreciate advice from those more experienced in these situations. x

Last night, Alfie was spotted in Moorhouse Road, Queensbury, where apparently he's been hanging around for 2 days. Someone took my brother around where Alfie was, and the guy's girlfriend managed to pick Alfie up; Alfie was so scared that he bit her and ran off. Alfie has never bitten before; he must be really scared having been lost for 10 days.

Alfie was again spotted in Moorhouse Road again today. He was then spotted again at 8.00pm tonight. He's been spotted tonight in Culver Lane, Queensbury, Centenary Park and Charmaine Avenue in Queensbury. My brother went straight over and couldn't find him. There is a little Police station in the park and he spoke with the Police who will keep a lookout on their patrols.

A lot of local people have left out food to try and entice him to come to them, if anyone local sees him, please try and beckon him by telling him Mummy & Abba are coming to pick him up to take him home. Please also call straight away. He may come to you with some luck...
lesleyjane
Unable to help today but am around tomorrow afternoon if needed, 07759 012977, but hope he is back home by then! Or I can come out later tonight ( 11pm on) if needed. Good luck, Team Alfie!

Alfie has just been spotted in Moorhouse Road, Queensbury, HA3.

We have four team combing the area now.

Any extras able to help would be amazing.

Thank-you.
rjk
We have three people currently out combing the area where he's been sighted this morning. We're praying....
lesleyjane
Admin, any chance of bumping Alfie up due to this recent sighting?
lesleyjane
By coincidence I just drove past there, before seeing this....please flood the area with posters, let TA know and also Edgeware Community Hospital. He is so near home now, let's hope he finds his way back on his own. Come on, Alfie, we all want you back safely! I have tweeted latest news.
rjk
A lady called Marta texted us at 4.36am. She saw Alfie running by the Territorial Army in Burnt Oak. He was running up a hill towards Barnet Football Pitch, and then around the houses there. She said this leads to Belmont roundabout. Her name is Marta and her phone no. is 07595-446948. She is fine if you want to call her. Someone is driving there now to look. If anyone can assist in the search, that would be wonderful.
rjk
I will try and send a couple of people there tomorrow to post poster through each door, and leave no. 27 out.Last edited: 2013-08-15 21:22:43 by rjk

Is it worth asking her neighbours if they have heard/seen a dog? Maybe wait til she goes out and knock/put poster thro their doors?
rjk
Only the police were allowed in. One of them is a dog owner. He said he loves dogs and is also keen to return Alfie. They said they didn't see any signs of a dog. Who knows what's going on, although it does sound suspicious. We have two people going to drive around North Road and wait there this afternoon.
lesleyjane
Hope you are onto something here, can you set up a "rota" to keep an eye on this property ( but undercover)?? It seems odd, how did the woman react when you went there? Was there no lead/dog bowl in sight?? Is the woman who reported this initially able to help out any further?
rjk
I had a call from a lovely lady this morning, who thinks she spottted Alfie both on Sunday and this morning with a woman, She believes Alfie was running alongside her the other day as well as playing with him with a ball. She spotted her going into Cooms Walk, Edgware, HA8 0AT. We arranged for threee family members to go to the house with wo police officers at 6.00pm today. The woman had cats there, and despite the police checking, there was no sign of Alfie, even though he may have been spotted going into the house. This is also the house where my rbothers wer shouting "Alfie" at midnight the other night. Each time they shouted his name, there was a recognisable bark and it then suddenly stopped as though he was being muffled. The whole thing is very strange, and it would be good if we can all keep a vigilant eye on this address and the surrounding area. Thanks for all your efforts. We are praying...Last edited: 2013-08-15 10:51:40 by Shereen
