Just been catching up & I am so pleased that Cindy is finally home.

Thanks for coming back Paula, so glad it all worked out for you. I'm going to refer to your "exploits pages" for another missing BLACK girl Paige ID 56976 from Sidcup, it just might give her "human slave" something to work on. X Think it's lovely you're helping Candy.
Lilybear
Wow, Congratulations to you all, brilliant news. Welcome home Cindy.
PaulaGabrielleSara
I did use rescue remedy which i dropped into the smelly cheese which we had brought back from France and which the boys were so thankful left the fridge as it smelt of sweaty socks.... smellier the riper lol - i have taken lots of photos they are on my facebook page - you can find me on Paula Gabrielle Sara Blackburn on facebook or on Finding Cindy where photos are also there - there are some funny ones - one that my friend Nikki put up was yesterday when she had chicken and rice and she is facing away from the bowl looking disgusted after the tasty smelly cheese, sardines, kebabs and ham... - "You lured me home under false pretenses mother - tasty lamb, kebabs, cheese and ham, and once i get here - what do i get??? Rice and Chicken?? - I'm not impressed!!!"

Oh we are all dying to see some reunited photos...when you are up to it.....I think the combination of putting food out and talking to someone else in a normal manner let her realise it was you...oh and the funny sick bunny noises...Um somehow think Kimmybear was instrumental in this...lol...
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
I wouldn't know about the trap, just get the feeling she hasn't got all the support from friends like you had, plus I think she works, has a family and isn't very good on the computer (like me). Kimmybear will let you know I'm sure. Did you use the Rescue Remedy, it doesn't sedate dogs, my Rescue Dobies used to do an agility dog display after they'd been dropped, straight into the mouth. WOT no flea drops LOL and a greyhound that sits XX " Doggie people are simply the best"

been following Cindy's story too, so pleased she's home, well done everyone :) xx

Didn't sleep till 5am, Cindy and i were just cuddled up on the sofa gazing at each other - this morning she has sat for a photograph in the local paper (Maldon and Burnham) and been to the vet for a check over - she is remarkably well although has lost 3 1/2 kilos during her sabbatical... she has some yukki worming tablets to take, but apart from that she is fine!!! Thanks everyone for your support and advice - the lady in galleywood - does she want to use the trap next?? xx

I'm sure Paula & Cindy won't mind but there is another "naughty black girl" on the run not too far away, Candy, last seen Galleywood common ID 56800 a couple of days ago.

Greyt news! Have been following Cindy's thread and so pleased that it has such a happy ending. I do hope this gives a positive message to other owners that these dogs can indeed survive (in Cindy's case almost a month) and that there aren't often that many sightings. Stay safe and close now sweet girl xxx

Guys - what a moo bag she was giving us all the run around - i hadnt seen her until last Sunday - it was like the lockness monster - i just didnt believe she was still out there until i saw her and she trotted away.... although devestated i was determined to get her home safe - yesterday Gill Tully and i set up the trap and i sat there from 1.30pm till 1130pm, though didnt chase her, i came home to put more washing on and have something to eat, i lost my bloody car keys in the ditch - i was a disaster zone - her pattern was somehow different yesterday, saw her in the adjoining field and saw her walk blatantly across field to the trap, she wouldnt go in but was looking at how to get the tasty chicken... i didnt play by the rules and did leave hansel and gretel trail to the trap - i was not sure it would be big enough and i now know it wouldnt be as she is taller than i remember (though this may be as she is now very thin)... i went down the field again to check the trap with Nikki Kendall at 1130pm and it was a very clear silent night - no wind, and we just talked normally, i had sat in field making sick bunny noises and crying calling her name and rocking, anyway, went down to check trap and put more water down and as we were walking back, Spotty saw her, she ran over but Cindy still wasnt sure, but obviously heard Nikki and i talking, and she galloped into the back of our legs!!!!! She was so pleased!!!! I am so relieved, we got collar and lead on but she jumped gladly into back of my car and ate her kebab and had tons of water and happily trotted through the front door and onto her cushion then onto her sofa and promptly relaxed.... Thank you everyone for all you have done - now comes the task of taking down the posters, but not today - if anyone sees them please rip them down, today we are chillaxing and getting sorted at home... i will take her to the vet once she is really settled in afew days as she needs the once over and has some grazes but nothing that wont heal with tlc... Thank you Kimmy Bear and everyone - i will retrieve the trap which i had unset before leaving last night and arrange to get it back to you xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I am totally, totally over the moon! Thank you to Shereen for letting me know. I believe trap was not needed but I will let Paula update later. Cindy did not forget her owners smell as she definitely stayed around where her owner had been. I can go to work now and calm down and be happy today! Well done Paula, Niiki and everyone who helped support and encourage, to get this sweet, sweet girl safely home! (Thanks Debs - that is what I needed, but we're all okay now, thank goodness!) My heart is aching for you all, but hang in there she will be home soon. Don't worry about your so-called mess, that can be dealt with as and when, the important thing now is to keep positive, Cindy will be with you soon. Am very tempted to travel up to you to help (from IW)but fingers crossed there will be good news soon and we can all open the Champagne. Come on Cindy test that crate. Lots of hugs to you all. Day 25 - Thanks Kimmy Bear, Debs and Paula K - Cindy Update day 25 - At this stage I'm so exhausted with it all I could cry!! I saw Cindy half way down the field yesterday evening, i didn't chase her - she just trotted off simply on her three FFF's and sees humans as threats now - i just watched which way she went - she is not responding to her name now and lets face it, she is a sight hound so her strongest sense is her eyesight - - i have spoken to Gill Tulley who i used to be on the parish council with, she is a brittany spaniels breeder, judge at Crufts and has her own physio pool for her dogs - she has talked me through what we need to do and she has trapped many dogs in her time, as well as being a dog handler in the army before she retired.... She feels that Cindy will go into the trap, Paula from Little London farm also thinks so - I'm going to take throw away BBQ with me again this lunchtime and hang ribs and smelly French cheese in the trap from dogslost once I've got it set up... Last night Little London Farmhouse (Horsey Paula not the farm, but the horse one) Paula walked her greyhound Crash down there, Trevor walked his Labradors down there - Trevor had Cindy approach him last week but she ran off, Nikki sat in lay by with binoculars... I do not want to sound dramatic but I'm "all in" now... My house is a tip, (I come home to sweet wrappers and piles of washing up from my adult but still in education waiting to fly off sons who i affectionately call Baby Penguins - grown up size but still leeching)... sniff sniff... I've been on the phone and emailed Colchester Zoo to see if they have bigger traps, but they have not come back to me, i have also contacted the Essex Chronicle to see if they could contact them for the publicity... I do feel this is dragging on too long and we just need to get her home safely... If the authorities join this, Cindy may be shot as she could be seen as a danger to motorists, so we need to get her caught and home... Hopefully today is the day... More later... Sorry to butt in but I posted on her FB page last night - I dont think the trap is big enough - greyhounds dont "bend" like other dogs - I had enough trouble catching a whippet in a crate that size and Cindy looks considerably bigger than he was. Im also concerned that if Cindy runs people are chasing her, this, as others have said is not a good idea, you really need to just sit and let her come to you. Every time someone goes after her you risk her moving on to another area. I know how frustrating it must be but patience really does pay off. Hope nobody minds this post but greyhounds and traps are so different to any other breed
Debs
Hi, have been here following the story silently :-) I have to say what a fabulous job your all doing, the capture is almost tangeable but! I really am fearing that people are going into panic mode and starting to jump several proven SAFE techniques to ones that are dangerous to the operation. Cindy WILL be home soon enough with just a little more patience. As Kimmybear has said we do not promote drugging because of the risk factor. I'm a litter further more worried that she is being chased when she takes flight, please do take a minute to just observe as at this moment you know exactly where she is and a crate capture WILL work. With the size trap you have I have caught a gsd in one so I'm extremely confident she will fit in so don't worry about that factor. I have asked a couple of expert trappers to contact you to offer further advice, they may well come and help you if they have the time spare to do so, they are wonderful people with a wealth of expertise in these situations and recently caught greyhounds and lurchers that had been in a similar area for weeks. I am sending you all the luck and paws crossed for Cindy being home safe
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Laura, I personally would feel better if you would speak to Paula. You have actually trapped greyhounds so I do feel you are the one to give sound advice. I have given as much as I can from a distance; it's too far for me to physically get there. But what we really need is a greyhound person to help advise. I have told Paula we are trying to find someone local who recently caught a large lurcher to offer help, but I think Paula & Gill are going straight into this "live" tomorrow. So any help appreciated, especially by me. Thanks. x
PaulaGabrielleSara
Laura - all advice welcome - im going to give the trap a go xx
PaulaGabrielleSara
OMG the stress!! Saw Cindy this evening in the field where feeding station is, she crossed into adjoining field, followed her at a distance, but now the little cow bag has done a runner down blind lane and Witham road!! Nikki was in hot pursuit whilst I tried to get out of the field - spoke with Gill Tulley who i used to sit on the parish council with and is a Crufts judge and breeder of Brittany Spaniels and she is going to help me with the trap - she feels it is ok size wise... onwards and upwards...
Laura
Hello, so sorry to hear about Cindy : ( Im the Dorset and Hampshire Regional Homing Officer for Greyhound Recsue West of England AND one half of Moses's capturer. Moses is currently fast alseep on my sofa where he has pretty much been since we caught him! If you would like some telephone advice / help please feel free to ask. You name it, we tried it with Mr Moses!
Suziewoo
As a greyhound owner, I know that neither of mine would go into the trap as it is too low and greyhounds don't crawl unless absolutely necessary. Cindy won't be that hungry as she has been seen feeding regularly. Has anyone spoken to the people who captured Moses (27396)? They will be experts on greyhound capture! Everything crossed that she turns herself in very soon! x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Everything is going well. Right now, we just need patience and the trapping will work. Large dogs have been caught in these traps but to be on the safe side, we are working on getting help for Paula and Nikki regarding this. It is possible Cindy will crawl into the trap to get the food rather than stand if its too low so that will be fine. I have asked Debbie (fellow co-ord) to see if we can get help from someone who recently trapped a large lurcher close to this area. Paula & Nikki will continue with the feeding station and who knows, maybe Cindy will simply come over? It has been known. Cindy does recognise Paula's sent as she went in the den! :-)
VERY IMPORTANT. Unless the dog is in an enclosure we must advise against drugging or darting. Darts can hit and fall out, the drug can take effect when the dog is in water or going across a road. We cannot risk it. Also, one dart could spook the dog and she'll never return. I have advised Paula about this, but thought we needed it on the page so others will also be aware of why we say this. Thank you. But, it is well worth having a chat with the Zoo, Paula. Good idea. And, you really never know what they could come up with. We are open to help & advice. Also, please remember we DO NEED Cindy to stay alert as that is what is keeping her safe! We'll get back to you asap once we get in touch with the people we need to. Hang in there - you REALLY have done wonders! Just a little more and you'll have her home. Bet she'll be glad! xxx

Dont lose hope please. the Greek rescue was on the run for a long time but she was caught in the end. everyone is gunning for you it will happen.
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
You can put it on however many times a day you feed her and in her water, it just might calm her. Please don't lose hope, you are doing well, put 3 drops on your own tongue sounds as if you need it. Onwards and upwards you're further forward than you were 3 days ago X
PaulaGabrielleSara
I am starting to lose hope - i have been with Nikki to collect a dog trap, the biggest one available and it is too small - i cannot see Cindy using it, and have spoken to San, one of the ladies at dogs lost, she she agreed with me and i suggested Colchester Zoo which she thinks is a good idea - i have emailed the zoo and left a message to see if they have a bigger trap and to see which vet they use to dart their animals... no response from them yet, but going down to the feeding station, so will update again later.... thanks me and my girl - i will put some rescue remedy on the food... :)
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
Hope today's THE day !!! Would you consider using Bach Rescue Remedy a homeopathic flower remedy which you can buy in local chemists, Holland and Barrett and Boots. I've used it on rescue Dobies and cured a fear of everything in a bitch, gunshot and dark places in a male and fireworks in Cass my greyhound. You can't overdose on it, 3 drops in mouth (you'd like to be able to do that)or 3 drops on food or in water or all 3, as often as you like. It just might take the "fright" away and relax her a bit. Quite a lot of stars take it before going on stage. Been going since the 1930's and it's non drowsy. Can't overdose on it. Advertised as "restoring inner calm, control, and focus" There is a pet one but never used it. Don't know if anybody else on here has experience of it.Last edited: 2013-09-03 11:48:12 by Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
PaulaGabrielleSara
thanks Angel Sasha - i appreciate what you have said - i am putting food down there in the feeding station three times a day, and when i return, it has gone, ive seen her twice now myself but am at least three hundred yards away as i do not want to spook her - i do not think she heard me but i think she is starting to piece it all together now so it is only a matter of time xx
Angel Sasha (Bella's Angels)
Hi, from advice we have received in the past, we have been told not to call the dogs as this can heighten their anxiety. We have been told to quietly attract attention my making whimpering noises and showing/ throwing food down at a distance away from us. I have personally been able to get a dog to approach me that was missing for a few months my doing this and then sitting very low to the ground with my back to the dog an avoiding all eye contact. Maybe you haven't been able to get cindy close enough. It's a long process of obtaining trust but does work and I speak from experience when I say that when you first get a sighting yourself your adrenaline goes sky high and your heart races! Try and keep calm and keep up what you are doing as you will bring her in closer x
PaulaGabrielleSara
Just received phone call from Nikki who has been down to the ditch at 12, there was an imprint of Cindy and she has eaten all the ham and BBQ food, Nikki has gone to replenish the food. I'm hoping for more sightings and also hoping to get a trap set up in the next few days...
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
If Cindy didn't take the chicken only the ham it doesn't seem as if she is that hungry, so where can she be finding food apart from rabbits on her "patch"? Burger van, bins at pubs, parks, common, cafe, old folks homes etc. Is there a camping site nearby. Could you put down some pasta or grated cheese at her feeding station to keep her there for a bit longer. I don't think Cindy heard you last night, as you said, wind direction, or she would have either come to you or legged it, so don't be downhearted. Good Luck for today.

Sasha, thanks for looking - her route is on her finding Cindy facebook page - little totham church, around the great/little totham boundary on Sheepcoats Lane, through Little Totham common and around up to wash lane and through that way onto blind lane... if you see her, by all means call her but do not approach her, just sit down... after tonight, i realize she isnt even recognizing me, so it's slowly slowly to get her... xx
PaulaGabrielleSara
High emotive state day - after lunchtime, my cousins and i went back with more food and water, and actually saw Cindy trotting off down the field - she was way in the distance, but it is wonderful that i have actually seen her - it's like people saying they have seen Nessie or Big Foot - but now, i have actually seen her - then this evening, i am completely devastated - after getting lovely smells going with the BBQ (after the near disaster of setting the field on fire), Cindy finally showed herself at 11pm - she trotted right past the ditch, once over the bloody shock, i started calling her really quietly, bearing in mind it is windy, and she may not have heard me, but she didn't come back - i replenished food and water, tidied up her blankets and came away for a good howl.... Will try again tomorrow, but i think she may need a trap in the days to come as she is in Flight/Fight mode.... :( At least she is ok, and keeping safe, and she knows where there is good food and shelter.... that's all i can do for the moment until i get her feeding there all the time...
Angel Sasha (Bella's Angels)
Hi, sat out quietly in my car at edge of a huge field near latest sighting area for couple of hours this afternoon with my bino's and some treats but nothing i'm afraid, drove a few circles round the roads too. Good luck! x

Oh Paula! This is fantastic news! If you don't get her tonight (or try same time in the morning), make sure there is lots of food left as we can sort a trap now. Fantastic news! Someone will need to collect it and work out how to use it & you really cannot afford to make any mistakes with a trap and you won't because we'll go through it all. But, I am soooooo hoping you won't need it, as given a few minutes to realise you are "you", you may well have her soon! On tenterhooks now! You have done fantastically! x

Can't help you physically but have been thinking like mad and searching web for ideas. I remembered something from the past whereby gypsies caught dogs by making a noise like a rabbbit in trouble. Not clever on this machine but Googled "sounds of distressed rabbit uk" found " rabbit and bunny sounds sound board". Clicked "rabbit distressed" and within a nano second my girlie who was sleeping was up at my shoulder looking at the screen wanting to find it. Hope you don't need it, but I know how I would feel if I was in your position.XX Shame doggie friends can't pee in a spray bottle.

Hi Me and My Girl - may be a good idea, though i am hopeful we may get her home tonight - im just having a cup of tea then going back down there with more ham, then a bbq later to get the smells to draw her in xx

Cindy was sighted half an hour ago by people from Clark's Farm taking food from the new feeding station that was set up this morning. I'm going back there later on to do a barbecue this evening, hopefully the smells will pull her in...

On a day like today, greyhounds can be found enjoying the sunshine in the open fields. If any searchers or Bella's Angels, wish to help look please do so! Remember if you see her, do not chase, but... get down on the ground and you may, just may be able to coax her to you. NEVER go to her unless you do so slowly and on the ground, watching her all the time. If she starts to back off, then you back off and sit and wait. This could really happen if you don't push it. Come on Cindy girl, you are so close to home sweetheart. x

Would it be worth making up flyers for the organisers to hand out to the walkers. I believe they only allow greys and sighthounds to walk, but you may get more people to walk their houndies in the areas Cindy has been sighted in during the day. Come on Cindy the sofa 's getting cold !!!
JJ
cant help as we are in North London but do know that area - and so do our greys.
JJ
hey from Goldhangar she can go to the park past the chequers that is dog friendly pub - someone could ring them or maybe take poster? Also park leads to the mud flats and the path back to Heybridge!
Nikki
Early morning phone call, cindy sighted again between Clarkes farm and little London farm, wash lane. Caller tried calling her but she ran of down lane in Goldhanger direction. Pleased to see that despite all the disturbance yesterday from the ploughing she is still in the same area:)

Thanks Riverlady. Me n my girl, that is very interesting. I wonder if that would pull Cindy out to come and see? Remember everyone, if you see Cindy sunning herself in a field, she won't be so scared as at night. If you sit down on the ground and make little squeaking noises, she may, just may come over. But I reiterate, do not chase. She may come and check you out again even she she legs it first time. At some point, she may actually decide she wants human company again, so let her come to you. Come on Cindy, time to come home sweetheart. x Nikki, well done for last night. Anyone know anything? x

Nikki, as its you, you never know if she will maybe recognise your scent and come to you anyway. Sometimes these dogs do surprise us, so be ready for anything. Just keep it slow and no fast movements. I am so hoping for a result. You are a fantastic friend for Paula to have. Truly.
All helpers, if you want to be involved, it would be wonderful if you sat quietly in your cars at various locations around Cindy's area. This way you could text or phone each other if and when you see Cindy, so the next person is ready to watch etc. This has worked before. But tie your arms and legs together if need be so you stay put. Please everyone pray for Cindy to get home very soon. xLast edited: 2013-08-29 21:32:30 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Could you leave a car door open with food inside and something from home, it just might tempt her in. My girl would jump in anybodys car if it suited her, I suppose they were used to different vehicles when racing. I hope tonights the night and will be thinking of you.
Nikki
Please everyone read what kimmybear has written below! It's very important as we are so close. Paula and I will be trying to set up the feeding station. With the advise received from kimmybear I will be trying to set up a feeding station tonight. There is a public footpath that runs along Clarkes farm in wash lane so I am going to go down there with lots of lovely smelling food and setting up a hiding place for me to sit in. Once I have found a suitable place I will inform everybody so that the smells of humans can be kept to a minimum. Please be vigilant! Everyone is doing a fantastic job and paula and me are really touched by the response and help we have received. Please do not approach cindy if seen. Follow at a safe distance so she is not spooked any further as she is now in flight, fright, fight mode. She is also unlikely to respond to her name so please don't call her. Fingers crossed for tonight :)

Would a local radio appeal help ?
The Essex police dog division is at Sandon about 15 miles away, as a training exercise would they be prepared to come out and track her or is there a local dog training club that does tracking that could help. She is probably sleeping under a hedge now but looking at maps there are miles and miles of those.
Are there any roadside food trailers she could be visiting she must be finding food somewhere. So pleased you had sightings last night, bet she visits Clarks Farm at some stage as greys tend to migrate towards their own kind. Okay, Team Cindy! Time for major action. Cindy is definitely doing her triangle over and over - you are SO close now! Rule 1 - do NOT chase, or frighten her off 2) Patience is very much a virtue here 3) Get that feeding station sorted. I am contacting Paula & Nikki with the advice.
You must JUST watch from a distance. If you try and catch her then, she will never come back! So just watch! It will be incredibly hard to just sit there, but this is what you have to do. Do not move a muscle; don't even breathe. She is running scared as she is in survival mode, but this okay, it is keeping her safe.
I need to emphasise that we need as few people as possible at the feeding station; too many smells, too many humans equals fear for a sighthound. Paula and close friends only for the feeding station. All others, please, please poster and sit and watch. We really cannot risk pushing Cindy away further. Okay, let's go catch his gorgeous girl!

Im going to Tiptree early tomorrow to put some posters up will keep my eyes open, but hope she is found before then xxx

Me n my girl, good to see you posting here. You actually have very good ideas and Nikki, I think they are worth a try. You could try and persuade the local fire department to let you borrow night vision goggles. The greyhounds rooing is also great. Nikki, sadly we can't just set a trap as there is a lot to be well thought out first as one mistake and that's it,she'll never go in again. And, you need to know exactly where Cindy goes, you need landowners permission and it must be manned 24/7 from a distance. You need a few people for a rota. It will work in the right circumstances but that is why we need to set up the feeding station first. Once she uses the feeding station then you change it to a trap. If you know exactly a spot that she passes, then you leave the food there. If it keeps going, you set the trap. You can't trap unless you know where she is. If it were that easy we would already have done it. I desperately want Cindy home to Paula. Leave this with me and I will speak to someone and come back to you asap. We'll work something out and yes, I'm sure the Greyhound rescue would help - people from there already are. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. x
Nikki
Hi kimmybear. Paula has asked me to contact you regarding a trap collection. Can you PM me so we can make arrangements. Thank you , Nikki

Hello I'm a new old girl, no good on computer but joined to post this ridiculous thought. How about making a copy (from web) of greyhounds rooing, I played one I found while my grey was asleep and she immediately woke up and showed alot of interest, wondered if Cindy would come to investigate if she was in hearing distance which could be a long way.
Would Clarks Farm Greyhounds let you put a manned trap on their land or a feeding station.
Those night vision binoculars would be handy if there's a high vantage point somewhere in the latest areas she's been sighted.
I've posted her missing on the Dunton RGT forum but think most of our members are from along the Thames Estuary. Try putting her on any local dog rescue sites. Wished I lived nearer, please come home Cindy!!
PaulaGabrielleSara
Hi Kimmybear - got your fb message too - but am in the car driving back from Liverpool - Gill Tulley was kind enough to go and check out around the farm this afternoon with her dogs but did not see anything, and more posters have gone up around Loamy Hill Road and Tolleshunt Major - Clarks farm suggested we put some up in the pub - Beckingham Bell which Nikki is going to do tomorrow - i have been sitting on the common in the evenings, but since last tuesday, nobody had seen her until we got the phone call from the farmer this morning (Monday) - map and sightings posted to facebook - im going to be out of action for afew days, but everyone is happy to help... the sighting on the farm land was at 10pm at night... i spoke with the farmer again tonight, but he was not happy to have a feeding station on his land and suggested the footpath on Beckingham Road...
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
I have been advised most of Cindy's sightings appear to be around 7pm in the evening. Is this correct? If so try and get people sitting at all the sighting places from say 6pm - 8pm just to watch. If they call or chase, she may bolt, but watch and we will see what happens and can plan from there. Paula, I have sent you a private message on FB and we received your email in Admin. Keep the posters going up and at some point, someone will call at just the right time and you will get her. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Paula, have you plotted all of Cindy's sightings on a map? Does it form a triangle shape, of a fashion? If so this, is her route - over and over. So, maybe you need to simply sit and watch at one of these definite places 24/7. So if you can form a rota with friends, or even get everyone to sit in their cars at the places of the sightings - all at the same time - and watch for as many hours as possible usually early mornings around dawn. Once you see her, you can set up a feeding station at that location and she will remember where the food is and keep coming back. x
PaulaGabrielleSara
Just recieved a telephone call from Ben Frost who is a farmer at Tolleshunt Major - he saw Cindy on Thursday night on his farm land just south of the billage of Toleshunt Major and about a mile north of the Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue - he couldnt catch her - he had only just seen the poster... so instead of going left down Loamy Hill Road, she had gone straight ahead up to Toleshunt major - thank goodness she has been sighted, but still, i wish people would let us know sooner.... More posters going up today over that way ...
PaulaGabrielleSara
Sunday evening we went on the heath and Brick House Lane - no sign and nobody has seen her - today i have to take my cousins grandaughters up to Liverpool, but my other cousins are staying in Essex for another week to look for Cindy - Lewis and David are going to put postes up in Loamy Hill Road and Red Brick / Brick House Lane as well as talk to the locals - there are some caravans along Brick House Lane which my best friend Nikki is going to check out to see if they have seen Cindy - i am losing hope and can only think she has been taken in by someone - the farmer at the Heath is aware, the vets all know she is missing and have posters - she has not been seen for six days now - Kimmy Bear - what more can i do? - Can we use a sniffer dog?? I think she has moved on.... :(
PaulaGabrielleSara
Today we have again checked Scraley Road, Sheepcoats Lane and the common - no sign - talked to one of the lovely gypsy ladies who spoke with her sister in law who saw her going up Loamy Hill Road on Tuesday evening - it may be she is heading for the heath, so we will try there again later tonight....
PaulaGabrielleSara
Gill Tulley also took her dogs out to see if they could flush her out yesterday during the day, and nothing - we also spotted some travellers on their own at the side of the road in Church Lane who have dogs and have given them the details and our telephone number - they have not seen her but are going to leave some food out for her just in case... Sorry everyone who lives in Little Totham if there are more foxes than normal - Im leaving food down until she is found and safely home...
PaulaGabrielleSara
Out again last night (Friday) - this time we tried Captains Wood where she had been sighted last weekend behind Broad Street Green through the cut through to Church Lane which goes along side of the Great Totham St Peter's Church - then along Church Lane, Sheepcoats Lane and again along Scraley Road - no sightings.... Nikki and Bryony put posters up all along the roads to Great Totham, Tolleshunt Major etc.... There is a £500 reward for Cindy's safe return - she is so sorely missed... I have had my back gate and side gate open since returning from France last Saturday - Today is 2 weeks she has been missing - please everyone, be vigilant - she needs to come home.... I am broken hearted :((((((((
PaulaGabrielleSara
Out again last night to put fresh food down and scour the heath - she had not eaten the food i had put down earlier... walked all around the heath, checked little totham end and the chicken farm and surrounding fields - Nothing.... Phone call from one of the farm workers who saw her last Saturday near the church at Little Totham and in the fields at Great Totham - that is where Nikki sighted her last Saturday - am broken hearted but going to be out at 6oclock putting poster up at the Great Totham end this evening and looking again....
PaulaGabrielleSara
Uust spent two hours on the Little Totham Heath and Spinney going through to Little Totham - no sign, but put some of the holiday smelly cheese and treats down for her... also checked again the chicken farm... all the chucks are gone to market but there were some fresh carcuss's in the bins at the back so i left one of the bins open just in case Cindy goes past... Spoke to the farmer of the chuck farm, he said one of his tractor drivers, Lawrence saw Cindy three days ago at the back of Colchester Road - it's really Maldon Road there on Broad Street Green... but since then has been sighted back on the heath.... Going again later to sit on heath with food and see if she goes by at 7 - 9pm....
DogLostOwl
JB is resting her dog for a day or two as he is exhausted from all the work he has been doing, and I know she has been asked to help with a couple of dogs where there have been no sightings at all. As long as you are getting sightings it is a catching job not a tracking one, Kimmybear is right. You need to get her taking food regularly in one place, and don't forget the value of a barbecue or a fryup on a camping stove, with some nice smelly bacon or sausages.
PaulaGabrielleSara
Hiya - two more sightings - last night we leafleted Little Totham's other end as well as posters in Tolleshunt Major as thats the other side of the heath and i walked the common and up to the chicken farm again but no sign - then this morning another call from a dog walker on the common... she saw Cindy on Tuesday night at quarter to eight on the common, as well as someone hearing a dog barking in the thicket behind the bungalows on Sheepcoats lane - Cindy doesnt bark unless she sees something small and furry so although i did not think it was her, Lewis, Nikki and I were stalking the old gravel pits behind the bungalows at 11pm last night - if it was her, she has gone... today as it is not so hot, i am going to walk the common with my cousins and perhaps even sit there in the hope that she comes through... xx
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Paula, JB is a fab helper with a fab dog who tracks (if available). But, bear in mind you already know where Cindy is, so you may not get much more info than you have now. JB usually tracks in order to locate a dog's circuit when there is not much to go on, but Cindy could still be way ahead as she is now because she has the legs to, well, leg it! I think you are already on the right track as you are. But if you feel you want to speak to JB, she will know best about this. Also bear in mind, it is also possible Cindy could get herself worn out, so if anyone sees her please do not chase her to make her run more, maybe keep at a distance to watch. Or, sit on the ground and quietly call her to you and see if she comes. You are almost there! x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Fantastic! You are so close, won't be long now. Paula, remember she has been on the run so they do revert to their wild instincts to survive, this basically means she will be in survival mode so may not immediately recognise you and may even run. Not always, but just in case, if you see her and she appears to start to run scared, keep low and call quietly - let her come to you - do not chase. I know its hard, but patience works n that instance. This will give her time to process who you are, without legging it too far. When she realises, she will come over. You may simply find her sunbathing - they are so often found like that :-) Remember the scenting! Keep her there - scent and poster. Don't scent all over the place just in an area you know she was in and lead her to a safe place within that area - preferably under a poster! Great work out there! Come on sweetie, mummy's nearly there. x
PaulaGabrielleSara
We were ten minutes behind her last night - we know she is in Little Totham and we are putting another hundred posters up this evenig as well as scouring all the sighting places around Little Totham... there are lots of water troughs around there too so i think she is just circling the area.. here's hoping...
Sydney
Paula have sent you a message on your facebook page. Hope Ciny is found soon x
Nikki
Message received this morning....Hi , we saw a dog that description last night in office lane running fast we followed it in the car it went across the common then to pennys brook down the middle of the rd then it went up witham rd towards Tolleshunt major which is where it went off out of sight , about 7 last night . ........this confirms the sightings we received last night. So we are in the right areas but just behind her all the time. But it's positive and we will keep going
PaulaGabrielleSara
Sydney - i dont know who JB is - if you can give me her details - my email is paulagsblackburn@gmail.com or you can find me on facebook under Paula Gabrielle Sara Blackburn - i am more than willing to try anything to get my baby girl back home and safe...
PaulaGabrielleSara
After no sightings and feeling very low today, we went down to Sheepcoats Lane again tonight to leaflet drop and put up posters - we called in at one of the houses, and the owners nephew lives further down the same road - he had seen Cindy only 10 minutes before on Little Totham Common - we raced down there but she had gone - she is definitely out there somewhere - there is a chicken farm off Sheepcoats Lane and it is warm and dry in the barns with a supply of chicken carcass' - put more food down and a jumper and hope she comes back tomorrow... posted up over 90 posters in Great Totham, Little Totham, Tiptree Heath, Maldon and Heybridge - the word is out there....
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Absolutely well done, Paula! Worth checking every single lead and even if not here sometimes it opens other doors for people to help. You never know. Keep up the good work! She's there somewhere. xxx
Sydney
Have you tried contacting Jenny (JB) and her tracker dog for help. Shes brilliant. Really hope you find Cindy, so sad when the Greyhounds go missing after everything they have already been through x
PaulaGabrielleSara
Another good friend, Misty Tere has contacted the Maldon and Burnham newspaper and they are running the poster in their lost dogs column tomorrow....
PaulaGabrielleSara
One of the residents in Sheepcoats Lane phoned me this morning to tell me a black female greyhound had been found last week (14th August) in South Ockenden - he gave me the twitter details of the man who found her, i contacted them and she was handed into Wiley 24 hour vets in Hornchurch/Upminster - I have phoned both vets and given them my details, but i do not believe it is her... just waiting to hear back - in the meantime, i have been to Maldon and put posters up in the Doctors and given a poster to the Dog Warden at Maldon District Council offices... am just about to get some washing on the line as i have only just unpacked my holiday case - been out looking for Cindy the whole time up to now... then going out again to look for her... my friend Diane has been out along the Sheepcoats Lane this morning and spoke to the farmer and some of the householders who already have my contact details....

Have updated Cindy's details. Good luck today.
PaulaGabrielleSara
Got up at 6am, had a drive around the places she had been sighted yesterday in Wash Lane Little Totham and Sheepcoats Lane but nothing - left more food... please everyone, keep looking.... if i could just take my head off i could sleep as i am exhausted, am going back to bed for an hour and will start again a little later... :((((
PaulaGabrielleSara
Sorry - just noticed on the posters that it says she is not tattooed - she is tattooed in both ears from her racing days, and is also microchipped to Clarkes Farm. Other distinguishing marks are that she has some white flecks in her coat, although she is black, she is more of a browny black with a gorgeous white blaze and some white on her paws... she also recently had 29 teeth out... Am going to start again tomorrow morning early to see if that's a better time to sight her before it gets too hot in the day time ... x
PaulaGabrielleSara
Luna's mum - i walk the heath every day and know the owners there, i haven't put posters up there yet as i wasn't there today - if anyone can i would appreciate it - though i walked the heath last night and there was nothing... i really feel she is more likely in Little Totham and is trying to find her way back home, or to Clarkes as she can probably hear the other Greyhounds who are waiting for their forever homes there...
PaulaGabrielleSara
Just a quick update - we went again down Wash Lane and along Sheepcoats Lane on the border of Great Totham and Little Totham - she was seen near a lock up this morning in Sheepcoats Lane - the girls from Clarkes Farm got a call this morning that was were she had turned up - my cousins and i walked the length of Sheepcoats Lane as well as the footpaths checking tree copses along the route but no sign - then we came home for something to eat and to give the jacks a rest... she is used to walking with them, so they were also leaving their scent... Poor old Billy is 16 years old now but still keeps going - then at dusk i went again with my friend Nikki and her daughter and the jacks again along Wash Lane and Sheepcoats Lane, this time leaving food and water in all the lock ups i could find - ive also given posters to all the houses down Sheepcoats and they all have my phone number as well as Clarkes Farm.... no sightings of her since this morning, though the farmers at Little Totham Hall saw her go through their garden on Sunday but did not think to call anyone.... they have my number now.... i dont think she is going far, where she was seen on Saturday evening - that field goes through to Little Totham, and i think she is desperately trying to get back, but is unable to find her way... i have left the side and back gates open since i got home on Saturday as well as food and water in the garden just in case, and will start afresh tomorrow.. Thanks to everyone for trying.... maybe there is a time of day when it is best to find her - but we were out all day today till 1030pm but i figured she would have found somewhere warm to bed down for the night as we could not see much despite it being a full moon.... as the farmers are now cutting the corn, there are fewer hiding places for her... here's hoping tomorrow we will hear some more...
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Okay, Wash Lane seems to be popular for her and a definite place on her triangle. Leave food & water there and something that comes from home like an old jumper. Hide it e.g. behind the lock up where she can find it but others can't. Do the scenting as per instructions around the lock up if it is safe there. This is just to keep her in the area as she will recognise your scent. Try and do this daily. She may not find her way to Tiptree so focus on where she is now as they tend to go round and round the same route. Please help poster and look for this baby, she really needs to get home now. Thank you. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Paula, you will get her, okay? These greyhound babies are usually found lounging in the sunshine in a field somewhere. The key is to get everyone on board - all the farmers, gamekeepers, public. Poster x 100's and you will get people helping and calling when seen. You are getting the sightings in already so that is fab news - you are doing well. Keep going. x
lunasmum
Didn't realise Cindy has been missing for 10 days as the info says 17th Aug. Are there any posters on Tiptree Heath? If not, I have a friend who walks her Greyhound there every morning so she may be willing to put up posters
CopperM
Here's hoping Cindy is like my dally x years ago. He used to take himself hunting, ignore my calls and then turn up 5 miles away at home later in the day. I can only assume that he used the sun and smells from each familiar walk between lost site and home... He'd be picked up by DWs nowadays!
PaulaGabrielleSara
Hi All - Sorry, Did not know how to leave comments - I spent all yesterday at Great Totham walking from there through to Little Totham, then came home and went out again in the evening to leave food out in Little Totham and again in Tiptree Heath which is where we went every day - she wont know how to get there on her legs, but once she is there, she will know where she is and there is an abundance of rabbits - no sign, but today i have been to Clarkes Farm to give them some posters, as well as the vet - she was seen on Friday near Wash Lane and again this morning near a lock up on Wash Lane - have peeled the fields there but nothing as yet - going to try the Heybridge Basin a little later - i am absolutely devestated without her - i can understand my family not wanting to tell me, but i would rather have known and i would have come straight back - this is now the 10th day..... Cindy is obviously still around and making her way back, but she is timid... Please everyone keep your eyes peeled - Clarkes Farm are putting posters on the lamposts along wash lane for me.... i will update this later, just off to try down the canal now where she originally got off her collar...
lunasmum
I was at Heybridge Basin walking my dogs this morning but didn't see any posters. Can't get back there till tomorrow morning unfortunately but will put posters up then .
