- Been so long I know but a dog like Harvey is straying around the Wolverhampton area for the last month or so. Please can the owner have a look on the fb page lost and found pets wolverhampton and surrounding areas. No-one has managed to catch or check this dog for a chip as yet - I know harvey wasn't chipped so will keep you updated if I see any more about this local straying dog.

- I have not seen any posters up at all since he went missing. We are issuing a press release regarding other Basildon lost dogs and will include a poster of Harvey

- We will continue checking any black or dark brown dogs we hear of, in case its Harvey. We will keep checking till he's home. Why not re-do the posters? Sometimes it rings a bell with people, even a while later. I know its so awful, but sometimes they really do appear. We have to keep hoping. We are all looking for you Harvey. xxx

- Thanks me n my girl.
Harvey has been confused with the Chigwell dog.
So I think that has wasted a lot of time.

- I do not think Jackie will mind me saying this.
I think Jackie does not know where to turn or how to get more help.
Harvey has been missing 5 months now.
With only one sitting in Southend not even sure it was him.
Please would you share this lost dog anywhere you can people.
The RSPCA phoned her so Jackie had thought it might be good news.
However I think (not sure ) it was just about the RSPCA.
So that must have been a bit of a let down.
Wish I knew where to look I would be out there.
Please folks keep looking for Harvey
Thanks

- Hi Jackie
I was going to ask if you still had the phone number of the lady.
Maybe if she is following Harvey she will get in touch again and let you know what area.
If you got the photo I sent you could you confirm it is not Harvey please.

Thanks MacIntosh Jackie will have to look at that it is 4th dog I think? - 2013-12-22 00:34 MacIntosh

- Thanks Jo
Thanks for the polite caution.
Yes I do realise that dog people will know breeds.
Where as other people will not and that makes it difficult.
However I am in touch with the lady that was feeding the one on the golf course.
So she did send me photos so I knew this was not Harvey.
I did get a little frustrated as no one was listening.
So am glad we are back on the Harvey trail.
Thanks - 2013-12-21 12:03 Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
- A word of caution Patlucky.....be careful what found/sighted dogs are ruled out on the basis of description alone (I'm referring to the husky comment, and nothing to do with the golf course dog). Whilst you and I know Harvey is not a husky, nor looks like one, from experience over the years you would honestly be astounded how some people describe dogs vs what they are actually like.....especially non dog owners. I hope you don't mind me saying so, just trying to help. Wanstead isn't Essex as you probably know, but London, and a distance away so Harvey def wouldn't have got there alone but we know dogs quite frequently have 'help' so always best to check where poss and where description similar ish. Will keep a look out in Southend.

- A lady phoned the owner(sorry still sketchy)
This lady was putting food out for him.
However I just found out it was two months since she saw him.]Wish I could tell you more.
Just somewhere in Southend.
In Jackie's text she said the RSPSA phoned her today.
They are going to ring her back tomorrow so she is hoping for good news.
I wont know until tomorrow why they phone as bit late to text now.
It might be because the warden has phoned them but I do not know.
Fingers crossed.

However it had gone.
It is a bit sketchy I will text her after I send this.

- Hi Kinsally just to put your mind at rest no dog matching Harvey's description has been taken to Acres Way. Basildon Southend Rochford and Castle Point all share the same kennel. Southend DW is aware of Harvey.

- So sorry that Harvey is still missing.I will keep my eyes out for him in Southend area. Has Harvey's owner been in touch with Southend dog warden & Acres Way kennels? I would advise to personally always visit to check the found dogs that are taken there as telephone descriptions can sometimes be misleading when trying to compare a lost dog to one which has been found. Fingers crossed this lovely boy can get home asap xLast edited: 2013-12-20 08:32:55 by Kinsally

- Sunshine it's on the found page. Harveys page was used initially because it was thought that he could have been the dog living on Chigwell golf course. No you're not thick, it took me months before I joined and managed to find my way. The more eyes the better Yvonne
- 2013-12-18 14:12 Sunshine
- I live in Southend and will keep my eyes peeled. Do we know whereabouts he may have been spotted? Also I cant seem to find the Chigwell golf course dog under ID 61410 am I being thick?

- Just out of interest why oh why are we not staying on track here.
If you look above Harvey looks NOTHING like a husky type dog.
It is not helpful to Harvey at all.
He isn't a German Shepherd , he is a Belgian Shepherd Tervuren.
He has no Husky in him.
He is all Black and has DOWN ears.
Please has anyone in the Southend area seen him.? - 2013-12-16 18:59 Riverlady
- on twitter...@DoglostUK found an Alsatian in Wanstead area! (Essex)

- PS phone call said he was seen in Southend on sea.
Of course this may not be him.
So please please keep an eye open for him.
Home for Christmas would be lovely. - 2013-12-16 13:45 Patlucky
- Thank you for that this is taking all thoughts of Harvey.
It isn't him so can we please keep looking out for him.
Jackie the owner has had a phone call saying he has been seen
If it is him ,please if you live in the area keep an eye out for him.
Of course it may not be him so people in all areas keep a look out.
Harvey is Black and his ears are DOWN as in the photo.
Jackie his owner has told me he NEVER has up ears.
Thanks
Be nice to get this lad home for Christmas.

- I have a close up photo of the dog on the Chigwell golf course.
Kindly sent to me by a lady who was feeding him.
Just looking at the photo now it is like a Australian Kelpie as you said Toni.
This dog is NOT I repeat NOT Harvey.
I am going to now send Jackie his photo, and ask her to confirm it isn't.
I have been in touch with over a period of time as I live in the area
Good luck with catching this boy he has been loose for so long now. - 2013-12-15 18:47 Toni
- I am going to the Golf club tomorrow to arrange for Ray to be able to take a trap. I did try to take a picture today and the dog is looking more like a Keltie. I will try and find a picture, as today she was too far away. Fingers crossed that the amazing Ray can catch this dog. I have given the infromation about Harvey to my son as he lives in Basildon and I will keep on spreading the word. Never lose hope as I did have my Lurcher found in Kent two years after after someone had stolen her from my house!!. I recieved a call from a dog warden. sadly I had to have her put to sleep as she had a tumour, so I only had her back for five weeks but it was me she spent her last weeks with and it was me that did the right thing for her, so never give up
- 2013-12-14 22:16 Patlucky
- Just a thought has anyone tried sitting down low with food.
A dog is more likely to approach a person low down.
Less frightening for them if you are at their level.
Well done to Toni for helping .
Emilia has been feeding this dog for ages now another lady is feeding him.
Emilia has been texting me and did e-mail me some photos.
I am 99% sure he is not Harvey.
I have spoken to Jackie (HARVEYS Owner) and she told me Harvey does NOT ever put his ears up.
Where as the pictures I have of the one at the golf course has ears UP.
Hope this is some help.

- I have just got back from the golf course and have had my eye on the dog all day - but it is continuously on the go. The prob with the golf course is that you cannot have people just walking around all over the place, it is dangerous and it is a private club. Speaking to the golfers I know, the dog is always near the 14th hole, today has been unusual because it has been in plain sight all day but staying at least 10-15 feet away from people. there is a lake which it goes to and around the course there are houses that back onto it. Some of these houses are empty as building work is going on and the dog kept on stopping and looking in. I thought maybe it waits until everyone has gone and goes in to sleep. we left out a lot of food and some of the golfers have been too, in brick buildings like sheds that are on the grounds. I am worried because a lot of people thought it was a black fox!!??? and I think have not been very warm towards it, so maybe that is why it is frightened. I will give Ray a call either a bit later or tomorrow morning as I have to catch up on some work. I know the dog has eaten well today and that there is shelter for tonight so we will start again in morn. But it is dfficult as there are some areas where you cannot walk until after 6pm and then it is too dark. Will keep posting. Oh and I found out that the RSPCA would have nothing to do with the dog but said we could call them if we caught it. They were called in a couple of months ago and a couple of times since but they said that they cannot do anything

- 2013-12-14 12:38 Owl
- Take smelly food such as pilchards or sardines, and take things gently. You will be less threatening if down on ground. Don't make eye contact or walk directly towards him. As long as he is on the golf course he is safe, we don't want to run him off into a less safe area.

I don't know if the poor dog on Chigwell golf course is him or not, but I do remember seeing a post & picture on gumtree some time back & the dog looked a little like a Black German shepherd,it was posted on MISSING Tigan's page 49277 as there was a resemblance to him.I feel really sad to think that poor dog is still out there. Is there anyone in the area that can at put some food out? Yes Julie Ray is needed here asap. Can anyone contact him & in the meantime please can it be given something to eat. Reading Tigan's page someone was feeding it at one time otherwise goodness knows how it's surviving. I wish I was nearer to help. - I am posting this as the dog seen on Chigwell Golf course was seen again last Sunday the 8th December, he is looking really bad now it does not look like he has eaten for a long time. My friend said that there were two couples looking for a similer dog about 12 weeks ago. I hope that someone could go and have another look we are always keeping an eye out for him he seems to always head to the top oc the course so maybe he sleeps somewhere around there. My friend said that he does not look as though he will survive for much longer and it is heartbreaking she tried to coax him to her but he was so frightened. will be there tomorrow so if I spot him I will post it. And the dog does have quite long hair.Last edited: 2013-12-13 19:59:37 by Toni

As far as I know from a recent email with the person who has sighted the dog in Chigwell some RSPCA volunteers are helping to try and catch him today. - I don't want to hijack Harveys page, would it be worth setting up a Found page for this bLack Shepherd. (I can't do it because I'm not clever) I have rung the golf club and they have tried to catch this dog which doesn't belong to anyone that works there. The lady that has seen him and reported him elsewhere is quite concerned about his welfare and has placed another advert. Perhaps one of the Shepherd rescues would help her, I don't have any contacts.

- There is a post on gumtree about a dog sighted in Chigwell Golf course (is that too far?) there are photos but they are from a distance.
This is what the post says:
A dog is seen in Chigwell golf club park. Is bigger than big fox and even looks like fox from distance. Hi/she is scared of people and this is why I couldn't catch him in any way so I feed him/her at least. I contact some organisations but they come only when a dog is caught. I hope his/her owner will possibly read this. Maybe is from afar as I haven't seen any leaflets in this area.
Unfortunately I wasn't able capture his/her profile as a dog runs away from people. If anyone knows who should I contact to catch a dog please let me know as winter is around the corner. Thanks.
Here is the link: http://www.gumtree.com/p/pets/found-black-german-shepherd-or-similar-breed/1032570718#photo-content (I am thinking as they say fox then is less likely) - 2013-09-18 13:41 Basildon DW

- I think it is definately worth leaflet dropping the houses along Eversley Road asking for people to check sheds etc. This is off of London Road and backs onto Eversley Park Fields. There are lots of houses with out buildings and animal sheds where he could be hiding out.

Wanderers Haven at Cranham 01708 220168, there's also Wallace kennels at Brentwood, I don't know their number. It's strange there have been no sightings. Have you tried an appeal on local radio? Think Watt Tyler country park is nearby (could be renamed) there must be lots of dogwalkers there. - 2013-09-07 18:28 Patlucky
- PS He also looks a little different as his ears are not up.
They are as you see them.
Pat - 2013-09-07 18:26 Patlucky
- Hi Fly,
I can answer a few of your questions I think.
I joined biggsd some time ago and support them.
I did post it on their site as I know they are really good as you said on your post.
I also think to the layman he could be taken as thoseother breeds.
People who know their breeds would know what he is.
However people who find dogs do not always know.
I answered this as I think Jackie is spending lots of time looking for him.
Sounds like you know you stuff.
Pat - 2013-09-07 18:10 FLY
- PS just read the poster its states HARVEY is a TERVUREN, isn't he a GROENENDAL? (ALL BLACK)
- 2013-09-07 18:02 FLY
- As a BSD owner I find most people think mine is a gsdx so worth looking under that definition too, also some even think colliex! Also worth trying BIGGSD website they are very helpuland know the breed. Is he a Groenendal? they will have a breed rescue too. Think laterally. I feel for you and hope you have good news really soon. Following..

- Hi Jackie,
Is there any chance of putting his picture up the right way.
Then I think you can start printing them off.
How is it going there any sightings of Harvey.
Pat - 2013-09-05 16:15 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
- I can see the new picture Jackie, he's lovely. He may be hiding in a chuchyard or the crematorium not too far from you. Pitsea market area would probably provide a good source of food after it's closed down if he were brave enough.Last edited: 2013-09-05 16:48:47 by Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer

Kim would have sent you all Doglost's advice, Dog Lost are the experts, please please follow thier advice to the letter.

Pat - 2013-09-05 09:29 Patlucky
- Just in case Jackie is out looking for Harvey I can answer as I have asked her some things.
Nice to get a mental picture.
Jackie did not move very far .
Jackie told me in a text she moved just across the road.
He was last seen near the shops in Rectory Road.
That is a long road and it is about half way up.
Pat - 2013-09-05 07:53 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
- When and where was he last seen ? Where did you live before, was it nearby, he may try and make his way back there ?Last edited: 2013-09-05 07:55:38 by Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer

- Jackie, you need to everything in my email to you, over and over. How exactly did Harvey go missing? Can you tell us as this will give us clues? Did he just wander off or was he scared? Did he run? Who saw him last and did they say if he was running or walking etc. What way was he headed Would he go over to strangers if they called him? Thanks. x
- 2013-09-04 22:16 Patlucky
- Don't lose heart Jackie.
We do need to get a better photo of him ASAP.
Then lost dogs will run you off one so you can copy.
Then get some plastic cases and pin them up.
Will talk about that when we get the photo.
If someone has him the more photos the better.
Pat - 2013-09-04 21:49 jackiecostello
- Still no luck with harvey still looking for a better photo I have a feeling now that someone has got him coz there bin no sightings of him for bout a week now
- 2013-09-04 16:22 Patlucky
- Jackie any chance of a better photo.
Then we can ask for a lost dog poster.
Then we can copy and put up in areas around you.
I do not mind helping .
Just hope Harvey is back soon.
Pat - 2013-09-04 16:07 Patlucky
- I went to the kennels near the cane furniture place on the A127.
They have all the details of Harvey in their office.
It was the Gemini kennels.
So that one is sorted think Harvey's owner already phoned them.
I did not realise they were Gemini.

- CopperM,sorry for confusion it was me that put wrong name down.
- 2013-09-04 12:13 CopperM
- jackiecostello do you mean Summerhill Nurseries? (Sungate Nursery is way towards Romford...)
Gemini Kennels are along that stretch of road on that side. 01268 725825 They take strays in, also rehome dogs. - 2013-09-04 09:30 Patlucky
- Kingstown breed dogs and sell food.
They would not take dogs is , but will pop in there today.
The other place I was thinking of is a bit before there.
A cane furniture place on the corner(will do both).
I think we need some lost dog posters to put about.
Not sure how we get them.
I have been in contact with a dog friend over at Wickford today.
Knowing lots of people she will spread the news.
- 2013-09-04 07:53 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
- Thats it Lankeela. Patlucky, Kingstown may have some ideas of other kennels you could contact. Vets used to have a Kennel Club list of breed rescues which might even be on the web now. Jackie where and when was the last repoted sighting.? Could he have wandered Thurrock way, I don't know who their dog warden is. Missing for 2 weeks now.
- 2013-09-04 07:35 jackiecostello
- I have bin phoning kingstown kennels but they havent seen him and they took my number incase he gwts brought in thanks

- Kingstown GSD kennels are down that way just off the A127.
- 2013-09-03 23:06 Patlucky
- That is quite near Jackie.
That is the place I cannot remember what it is called.
I call in there tomorrow as I am going that way.
Don't happen to know what is called do you me n my girl? - 2013-09-03 22:50 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
- Sory Jackie I should have said between Summerhill nursery and Nevendon flyover not Sadlers Farm and on that side of the road. Thanks Copper m that's what I meant as well, it was me that put Sungate. Last edited: 2013-09-04 14:45:04 by Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer

- I think also the owner told me his ears are down.
So with that in mind if someone finds him they could be confused with maybe a German shepherd Labrador cross.
So worth remembering that.
We are all hoping Harvey gets found soon.
Pat - 2013-09-03 21:18 jackiecostello
- and also i no hes down as a belgin shepeard but he could be mistaken for a german shepared so if any seen the same looking dog as this and think it a german still phone coz ppl will get mistaken coz they look the same
- 2013-09-03 21:10 jackiecostello
- hi i have bin phoning gemni kennels and still nothing
- 2013-09-03 20:00 Patlucky
- Also I have been trying to find the place off the A127,
I know where it is not sure of the name.
Might call in there tomorrow.
Anyone know names of rescues that would help.
Pat - 2013-09-03 19:56 Patlucky
- Thanks for that I did phone them today.
I also phoned Maggie's the GSD rescue.
No luck with either.
Pat - 2013-09-03 19:33 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
- Could he have been taken to Gemini Kennels, which is the pound for Havering lost dogs and also a rehoming centre. There used to be a kennels that bred and trained GSD off A127 between Sungate nursery and Sadlers Farm roundabout, think they may have had a dog display team as well.
- 2013-09-03 19:30 Patlucky
- Hi Jackie,

- There is a large block of fields/farm land in that area. Awareness needs to be raised along London Road toward Sadlers Farm and along Pound Lane as well as the Rectory Road areas.

- Hi ,
I have just spoken to the owner of Harvey.
Very nice lady that needs some help.
She has been going down to rectory road all hours and has not seen him.
This lady posted him here but did not realise to get help she needs to update us.
So please can we have some support for this lady.
I know how great everyone is on here.
Harvey is 8 years old and she has owned him since he was 7 months old.
Thanks for reading

- I have text the owner this morning.
Harvey is still missing and they are still out looking.
I told her I had phoned all the vets in the area.
Just in case he gets handed in one of them.
I do hope there will soon be a post from owner.
Please keep looking. - 2013-08-30 22:51 Patlucky
- Some animals put their ears down when having photo's taken.
So that makes them look different.
I have done a search for this dog also added Black.
It looks very much like a German shepherd to most people.
Slightly smaller ears and a bit longer face.
Also another comment there are two very busy roads near .
The A13 plus the A127.
However there are lots of fields
Have the owners contacted the house they lived before.
It could be worth a try.
Pat.

- I have phoned a friend that lives near Rectory road to keep an eye out.
Have also emailed my daughter who travels to and from Basildon.
Have also asked her to let as many people know that she works with.
Harvey for the want of another word is just like a Black German shepherd.
Although the ears are down in that photo.
Maybe a different photo would be of help.? - 2013-08-29 21:45 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Thanks DW.

- I have had no further reports of sightings called into me since 22/8.
I think it would be easier to leave the colouration termonolgy as simple as possible for the posters as most people wont know what the difference is. The calls I recieved were for sightings of a black German Shepherd. - 2013-08-27 15:46 ginachron
- Just to be sure, and so people don't get confused, is Harvey a Groenendal (all black) rather than Terveuren (usually more russet/red)
