- WE'VE FOUND CANDY!!! just after arranging a search with sasha and bellas angels for this afternoon when the phone rang and aman said , 'i think we've got your doggy'. she had appeared in a garden about 1.5 miles away. we rushed round and yes a skinny , tired little girl was there - gulping water from the cats bowl!
she is home now and not looking too scathed from her ordeal but very hungry and tired! our other hound has eaten now and is happy to share his crate!
our thanks to all the support and advice from everyone . its amazing what you do and i will spread the word and help when in my area.
many thanks especially to kim,
love sue,candy and family xxx - 2013-09-08 10:19 candy
- just got back from a search.went to hylands park and put couple more posters up then went to roses cafe on A414 dual carriageway at end of private road and opposite entrance to hylands park.lovely staff put poster up and they said CANDY was seen by them crossing the dual carriageway going towards the park on monday 2nd sept in the morning between 9 and 11. This is now the last known sighting of candy!!
we then went up private road and put more posters up that end. a lady called sarah rang me then and she was the hero who stopped the traffic and tried to get candy on the friday she first went missing - thank you sarah!! she walks around hylands park most days and is on look out!
thanks for all the support- i really need another sighting now as she is very slim and must be feeling weak now x - 2013-09-07 16:29 Debs

- Having watched the story of Cindy since day one and the overwhelming joy at her reunion, you will do it too. Paula knows how you are feeling and the team will be a great support also. Keep positive, you are doing all the right things. we live too far away to help sadly, (Isle of Wight), but we send lots of hugs and homing vibes to you all. Candy will be home soon.

- Been for an early morning walk down back of private road in galleywood. Then drove down hill through common to Margaretting ,putting posters up on way then onto ingatestone saddlery centre where a lady took 2posters to put up inside so that should spread the word. We are going to have breakfast in roses cafe tomorrow which is on the dual carriageway at end of private road, on dual carriageway that candy was seen crossing on Friday 30th August at 6.30pm.its opposite the entrance to hylands park too.
Candy is chipped and tattooed and tagged so cannot be dog 57016 but thanks for trying! - 2013-09-07 00:09 Karen - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison

- another busy day putting up more posters and speaking to dog searching helpers who have given me more hints on finding candy. farmers are being contacted for the area.a riding friend is contacting local stables and the local golfclubs are being contacted. lots of interest on candys fb page but my son looks after that!going out at 5am tomorrow to look for candy and pop posters bit further out. we are thinking she could reach margaretting, stock and ingatestone - all CM4 postcode so any help for these areas would be appreciated! speak tomorrow x

- Sorry to bombard you Sue, my mind is racing now - I dont know who farms over there, but if you go to my friends list on facebook and find Jane Baker - she is a big farmer and will know the local farmers in all of Essex as well as being one of the joint masters of the Essex farmers and union - she will also have maps of the area and where the best foxes/badgers/bunnies/ditches are - she is lovely xx
- 2013-09-06 09:26 PaulaGabrielleSara
- Also, now term has started - get the scouts involved in putting posters and taking leaflets out - COOP on Beehive Lane - COOP on Gloucester Avenue - Drs surgery on Wood Road and Baddow Road - garage on Baddow Road/Beehive Lane - not that i think she is that far, but that's where people are going to be and nosey places like hairdressers - dont know where they are anymore, but used to be one at corner of Watchhouse and wood road?? - let me know if i can help - i also spent nights in the ditch and in the car with blankets just watching - it felt like people were sighting big foot or Nessie as i had not seen Cindy but others had - please put on your poster DO NOT CHASE xx
- 2013-09-06 09:21 PaulaGabrielleSara
- Sue - If you walk, walk and stop, then just YOU call - one of my biggest problems was that Cindy almost forgot her name as so many people were calling her - also, that if you walk and call and keep walking - you are calling her to a place that you have now walked off from - sit near where she was last sighted somewhere safe and take smelly barbeque - get the children involved in it and just talk in normal voices - dont know if you are good with these silly things, i set the hedge row on fire with my first one - but anything she particularly has a penchant for - in Cindy's case it was lamb kebabs!! xx thinking of you - greyhounds are smart, but even the smartest dog is only going to be on a par with the average 2 year old human - she is going into FFF mode so just sit quietly, find one of her blankets that you can sit on with your smell and smell of home... xx

- Please keep posting on here, Candy. (Not everyone has a Facebook account.) Have you thought of going to the stables just off Lower Green? http://goo.gl/maps/Uyf4G Lots of riders who use the Common too. They may spot but not frighten Candy as humans won't be so visible. Rabbits on surrounding farmland too - too quick for my cocker last weekend! I'll keep watching. Good Luck!

- hi everyone. paula- so pleased you have cindy back- it reassures us that we will find candy and we will take note from you! we are going to let farmers know and my son is working on that now.
candy came straight from a trainer in surrey - she had a badly broken leg and had plates in when we got her 18mths ago.we have since had them removed as they were causing infection.she made an excellent recovery which is why she can run so fast!
angel sasha - yes thank you i have your number. i would have rung tonight but we had builders here til 8 then had to eat - whats the best time to ring?
weve done a facebook page today which is proving popular - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Help-find-Candy/515440118542626?ref=hl
when we were out last night we saw loads of rabbits so im sure candy is catching them and a house near where she was feed the foxes so ill walk that way tomorrow.
thanks all sue x - 2013-09-05 21:26 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Yes, Candy's mum, farmers! An absolute must! Some may be helpful, some not so much, but you need to try and get them on side. Many times it is they who see the dogs sunning themselves in the fields and need a poster to call you! The sooner the better so you can get straight there. Do everything Paul has said below. You can do it! One back, one to go! Come on Candy! x

- I used to live in Galleywood many moons ago - i reckon the nice places for bunnies are going to be the common and then down the road to Margaretting Tye (crossroads where the Spread Eagle pub was or maybe still is) - put posters on everything - i printed literally hundreds - even asda and all shops were putting them up for me - get the newspapers involved... the publicans and the farmers - especially that pub on the common itself down the road from spread eagle pub then turn right into it xx

- Hi Candy's mum - Im Paula, Cindy's mum - if i can help please let me know - is Candy a Clarks Farm greyhound?? - i have the dog trap which i only set up yesterday but did not need to use in the end - if there is any advice i can give you, it is do not chase Candy - simply sit in field, cry, make silly squeaky noises, and put smelly french cheese and her blanket near where she has been seen xxx - im sure clarks would also advertise her for you xx and a facebook page like my cousins made for Cindy has been fantastic - hers is called Finding Cindy - that got the word out there so quickly xx

- Hi Sue I always speak with the ANGELS on facebook they have their own page. Do you have a mobile number I can pass on to them you can send it to my work email if you prefer heather.schultz@chp.org.uk I can help out with any searches etc around work times. Bellas Angels also have access to sniffer dogs who have helped out in searches. Keep up the good work and take all the advice I will start walking my dog over the galleywood area she has been seen in as they will sometimes respond to another dog and smelly food - has she got a collar on?
- 2013-09-03 18:43 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Candy's mum, well done indeed! You are doing it all really well. Great you have read Cindy's page and that you are still getting sightings. You probably need to drum up some helpers if you want to do a few vigils as you must also look after yourself and not be ill. You could do from, say 4am onwards and from say 6pm until midnight, something like that to let you get a bit of rest in between. Also the early mornings and evenings are often the times to see a lost dog, but never rule anything out. If you are nearby and you want to leave their crate out, yes! We have had owners do this in the past and its worked. I'd scent the area around it just for good measure and if you want to leave it there, you really do need a safe hidden spot as traps and cages do go missing. If you are happy to do this and can hide it safely and scent to it with some food/water next to it, go for it! We had one owner leave the dog's bedding in a field and one morning he found the dog in it! Totally worth a try. The place you set up feeding station must be a place that she has actually passed, or very close to where her feet have been, as she would stick to the same route fairly much. You are doing fab. x
- 2013-09-03 17:37 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
- I don't know the area but could you put her details through doors where she's been sighted asking people if you could put a feeding station in their garden somewhere, that's if there are houses there and you know the latest sighting.
- 2013-09-03 16:44 candy
- we went out to the places shes been seen at 5 30 am but no sign of her. we marked around the area with wee but need to see her again to decide where to make a safe feeding place for her.we understand we need to be very calm if we see her and coax gently.have looked at cindys page and realise this could be a long job! thinking of when we can do a night vigil. trying to balance family, work etc but very stressful as i want to find candy!
kimmybear - would it be a good idea to put their shared crate which they love near when we watch for her or permanantly in a safe place in the bushes.?
e - 2013-09-02 22:35 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Now, the thing about greyhounds is they run scared, so do not chase. By all means watch and owners can call her, but remember she is running scared so slowly and gently. Candy's mum, can you take a look at Cindy's page CM9 - she is still missing, but they are almost to the point where they will catch her. Pls read it and this will show you what to do with frightened greyhounds. It will help you, okay? You need to sit and watch these areas in order to see her and leave food where you know she goes as this will keep her returning. Needs to be in a safe place though away from people. Do NOT chase. I know this is hard, but let her come to you. Otherwise you could risk chasing her away. You are doing great, keep going. Fantastic work on the posters and sightings! x

- have been for a dusk search tonight as another lady rang to say she'd seen candy in the private road area running towards galleywood common. whilst out bumped into a friend who saw her early this morning ( 5.45) running up goat hall lane. it seems she is staying in this area but we could not find her tonight. we will do an early morning search soon. so glad shes still alive and local!thanks to everyone helping.our other dog is in kennels for few days so hes safe and allowing us to search more.
heather- have you a contact no. for bellas angels please? sue x - 2013-09-02 15:48 dekkaann
- Know people in the area and have emailed.
Owners, remember that she may come back late
evenings or through the night, obviously you
would need to set up a watch as a door needs
to be open and the other dog kept secure.
Good luck. - 2013-09-02 15:23 Heather
- Hi - heard about Candy through my Son Jimmy let me know if you need any help with leafleting postering etc - belong to Bellas Angels contact if you need any help x
- 2013-09-02 13:17 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Fantastic news! You can get her. Read the email I sent you - the scenting instructions and do this where was last seen and leave food & water there. Keep checking to see if food has gone at least twice a day and replenish. Keep going with the posters. She could even find her way home once she gets her bearings, but we leave nothing to chance. If it is safe, and no roads to cross, try scenting back towards home but as Gallywoofers said, maybe she is scared of the builders now. On days like this, they do love to sun themselves in a field, so keep watching for that. Well done and keep going! x
- 2013-09-02 09:46 Galleywoofers
- I run Galleywoods dog training club and have shared the information.
Do you live in Galleywood or do you suspect she ran to Galleywood? i have known Grehounds to bolt before (including my own) and they generally find their way back home. I would be looking close to home but away from the builders who she now, probably has a negative association with. Also park your car nearby...she will more than likely head to a known, familiar and safe spot.Last edited: 2013-09-02 09:51:42 by Galleywoofers - 2013-09-02 08:31 candy
- just had a call from a lady who saw candy on sat am in galleywood near the river at end of private road - laying in sun! ran away when approached.
- 2013-09-02 08:10 candy
- ive just been out putting some posters up near where she was seen and near local dog walking sites.im doing some more prints now and am putting up today.we have builders in and she has been stressed with all the disruption then the wind blew and knocked something off the windowsill wher she was and she was terrified and just ran! she is quite bad with sudden noise and frightened of young children but sociable with adults and teenagers(i have 4 )shes very affectionate and greedy with food.she doesnt usually wander but if she gets out in the front comes in with gentle coaxing.we are missing her desperately and so is our other greyhound who doesnt walk. thank you for all your help and support. we are very grateful .sue x

- Also, as these babies can run for 7-9 miles outwards in any direction, I'd get some posters up, spreading outwards up to an 8 mile radius. x
- 2013-09-01 21:27 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Candy's mum, how did she go missing? Did she chase something, go for a stroll, or simply disappear? Would she normally come straight back if she wandered? Does she normally know her way back from Beehive Lane? If so, you need to think of everything that could have stopped her. Call dog warden first thing in case someone has taken her and handed her in. Call local council road people and the Highways people. And poster all along the roads near you in the eye line of motorists. This way if anyone saw her, it will ring a bell. Okay? If she has hurt her leg or something, she may simply lie low until she's well enough to come back - they do do this. Good about the sighting as that's another clue of where to poster. Greyhounds are brilliant at surviving in the wild till we get them back. Let's go poster and share this lovely fur baby! x
