- Aww, love the "butter wouldn't melt" expression, stay behind the gate now boy's, it can be a nasty & dangerous world out there. xx

- Agree the council should be a little more flexible...Just explaining its not the dog warden that is charging...its the council...And yes 2 fees for collection for the same trip is excessive....Tx Caz for your help today....
- 2013-09-04 20:40 Caz
- thanks shelly, look forward to seeing them.
Jayne, I admire the hard & sometimes unpleasant work the Dog Wardens do, and you are right in saying when council cut back's are required Dog Wardens are seen as not essential, Milton Keynes being a example (they don't have their own any more)but in circumstances like Oscar & Menace both picked up at same time a little flexibility/discretion in the collection part of fee (ie only 1 collection fee rather than 2) would have saved a lot of heartache for the family) just my opinion!, - 2013-09-04 20:13 shellyb
- Caz I will try and send the pics to shereen as not a clue how to post them back on here.. both are now cuddled up in bed fast asleep after a lot of fuss today.
- 2013-09-04 19:55 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Have to defend the dog wardens here....the councils charge so much to cover the expense of a dog warden...other wise we would be really stuck with out them...all dog wardens I have spoken to care about dogs and attempt to get them back to their owners and keep records and check on doglost....when local councils cut down on expenditure its usually the wardens they drop first....and if an owner does not come forward the councils have to pay the pounds....the lesson here is to have a dog tag on....though I do question why if dogs were chipped owners were not contacted....But we are trying to get on with all authorities, kennels etc and sort out this mess..but by example not by attacking....

- Sheelyb, Happy to have been of help , but only did what I suspect a lot of other folks on here would have done.good to hear they home safe, & children's tears gone. any chance of re-united photo's?
Millys Mum, L.B.Bromley charges as follows £25.00 statutory fee, Collection Fee £100.00, Kennelling £15.00 per day, but if dog chipped 50% discount on collection fee, Seems the dog pounds are money making machines!! - 2013-09-04 19:03 Millypod (Chris) - Administrative Volunteer
- Great to see both dogs are now home and safe :))
Well done to Caz you really are a very kind person :)) - 2013-09-04 17:19 Millys Mum
- shellyb - yes, I agree with you! £130 release fee per dog does seem to be very expensive. Now I wonder how much my Council, The London Borough of Bromley charges. Pleased to hear that both Oscar and Menace are both wearing collars and sporting nice, new shiny ID tags because, as we know, you really cannot be too careful these days. It may not be convenient, but we've recently starting locking our side gate again plus the OH had fitted a Hasp Lock for added security. And also, following a car-related incident carried out on our driveway (we actually live in quite a nice area!) I also drop both bolts on our double driveway gates and if we're not expecting anyone i.e. that the dustmen, postie and milkman have already been (or if we are going out for a few hours), I've even started padlocking the gates together! Just a thought but, as I say, it might not be possible or convenient. The other plus point is that we don't get so many flyers in the letterbox and rings on the doorbell from people wanting me to part with money!!!

- Have two very happy children thank you to Caz for you help so much love and doggy kisses to you. And thank you for everyone's help in searching for my two boys. So glad they are both home safe with the family the house was way to quiet without little menace. Would love to show everyone the pics of the boys wagging tails and all have been very spoilt with some chicken can't even be angry at them just so over the moon they are safe and home. not sure how to put pics on here now can't see a link to change the pictures. I will be pursuing the complaint with the post office as what the postman did was unacceptable, I think the rates that vale of white horse seem to be allowed to charge on wardens rates is an outrage £260 is a huge chunk of money for anyone to find even if you were highly paid. But lesson learned huge sign on gate and dogs permanently collared with name tags as an extra precaution seems a shame. Hopefully I will be able to get over being constantly worried if they are out in the garden.. much love to all and will be checkin on site regularly to see if I can help any other doggy owner in my area xx

- OMG Caz after a long emotional day anyway, having to go out and sort a very important soul,I didn't expect to come home and see this! THANK YOU SO MUCH!.Lovely talking to you again.
shellyb So pleased you are getting Menace the menace back,im sure Oscar will be very pleased to see him and have a word in Oscars ear not to lead the youngsters astray!...I think an investment in a spring loaded gate would be good and id follow through the investigation with the Postal service.to educate their employees to never leave the gate open again, you have a gate/microchips and insurance for a reason!...This could of been so different ,as they had to cross two railway lines to get where they went!
Caz,you are a doggie Angel! xxx
Another thing!...I cant imagine having to send my kids to school being so heartbroken!...Tomorrow will be all back to normal with smiles on their faces!!!...Lovely!Last edited: 2013-09-04 15:23:15 by Shereen - 2013-09-04 15:05 Jayne - Founder Doglost.

- So pleased to hear that these two naughties are back home safe and sound. I also have have leaky eyes! And a message to Caz: what a kind and caring person you are. Thank you for your generosity in reuniting Menace with Oscar, his partner in crime and, of course, with his family. Twenty miles, eh? Little tinkers. Perhaps the Postie would like to make a contribution... I was always taught that if you went through a closed gate, you always closed it behind you. We have two dogs and an elderly moggie and both our Postie and Milkie close our gate behind them. Finally welcome home Oscar and Menace and no more adventuring!Last edited: 2013-09-04 14:58:54 by Millys Mum

- Such an upsetting time for my family, as we could only just manage to scrape together £130 to get oscar home yesterday. My children are very upset by what had happened and we are all missing menace the house is far too quiet he was given his name for a reason lol. This is very unlike me as I am a very proud woman but this is a desperate situation and if anyone is willing to help with a donation to help get him home I would be forever grateful. I have 6 days from today to raise the money as of today its £143 and will increase by £13 every day. If anyone is willing to donate every little will help my paypal email is tomboaler@btinternet.com

- The very worried owner rang me this morning as I saw these two on Port Meadow. It was around 11-11.30 when I saw them. I couldn't catch them because I had 4 of my own, one of which can be reactive on the lead! I'm gutted now :( I hope they turn for home.
