Just wanted to let you all know that Molly has been found. Unfortunately she was knocked down and killed 15 miles away. She looks like she has been looked after in the 3 weeks she has been missing - she has grown quite considerably. She was always a great character and I can only assume that she has fit more into her short life (not yet 6 months)than most of us do in our long ones. I would like to thank everyone who has looked out for her and those who made contact with me, making her loss so much more easy to deal with. I will certainly be making a donation to this amazing site and will keep in touch to see if I can help others in similar situations. I have learnt a great deal in the last 3 weeks about the less pleasurable areas of dog owning, and I will try to pass on my knowledge to others ... in Molly's memory. Good luck to you all. Linda
Lindab
Thanks for your eagle eyes. Unfortunately it's not her - the 2 were brought in from an unwanted litter. Thanks again, Linda

Black Cocker spaniel (Said to be 16 weeks old) on Leighs adoption pages (Also a blue roan) They maybe from same litter and not connected with Molly, But worth checking to be sure - Looks like the black one may have a little bit of white to muzzle but could also just be the lighting on the picture

Click through the pictures until you find the right dog x Good luck

There are regularly travellers around Wilmslow/Altringham areas -lots of green belt. I did phone Cheshire council and they told me they were on the airpark - didn't know where that was, but finally found them at Handforth Dean. The police said they could only go if I had seen my dog there (I had reported her loss as a crime after she had been missing for a week so we now have a crime number), so I went back the next day and they had moved on. I've now got a few more venues where they have been before so I will check those out. I've also emailed the RSPCA to see if they have any advice, but I'm still waiting for a reply. Tomorrow I'm going to make a list of dog groomers in the area and try to phone them on Monday - Molly has a small hernia so they could look out for that. Thank goodness for this website and for the people like you :-)

I keep checking back daily for news. Don't give up hope, like you say dogs have been reunited after many months, you just need a lucky break! Yeah there were a few stolen dogs picked up in a raid on a travellers site last weekend, sadly many dogs are found this way. I had no idea that there had been travellers in Macc recently. I wonder how you could find out where they've gone too? Would be well worth following that up if you can, had you reported Molly's loss to the local Police? Maybe they could help? Some forces are better than others when it comes to missing dogs x
Lindab
Thanks for letting me know. Someone contacted me to tell me that her friend's missing dog was found when police raided a travellers' site. At the risk of tarring everyone with the same brush I decided to check out some travellers near me, but they had left the night before, leaving a small outdoor kennel, 2 dog bowls and half a bag of dog biscuits! I left some posters in the car park nearby, but I think we have to accept that we're now unlikely to get Molly back. We only had her for 4 months and she was exactly what I wanted so we all miss her, including my 4 year old retriever. We'll keep on looking - I noticed on doglost that someone got their dog back after 16 months, so there's always hope. Thanks to everyone who's helped us though this horrible time, Linda
lhasalover
Hi Linda, just to let you know that your poster is still up on the Sainsbury's entrance to the park. No sightings again of that puppy in there though i'm afraid :( Keeping everything crossed for you x
Lindab
Thanks to both of you. Hopefully if the "Airedale" is Molly they'll get her chip number and the wardens are informed. Just getting the messages helps as I realise that people are looking for her :-)
Babs68
May be a long shot, but a dog described as a 'black Airedale' has been picked up in Runcorn (WA7) today and taken to a local vets. It was apparently 'in a bad way' and looked hungry and stray. I am sorry, I do not have any more info but if I find anything else out, I will post again.x

Taking Molly's poster to Oscar's Fun Dog Show at Astbury Mere, Congleton tomorrow and also to Over Alderley Fete & Fun Dog Show on Sunday.
Lindab
Thanks for the info. It is unfortunate that we don't have any up-to-date photos; unfortunately my son had his camera stolen on holiday last month and he hadn't got round to transferring them - I think we must be jinxed. Still, the new photo might help. I put a poster in the park but it was taken down! I've put 2 at the entrance for now. Thanks again for all your help, Linda
lhasalover
It was about 5pm. Am unsure now I've seen your new photo, think the pup I saw may have been younger. Still worth postering the park though I think x
Lindab
FOUND ANOTHER PHOTO OF HER [poster image]- TAKEN ON 31.8.13. SHE LOOKS ODD BECAUSE I'M CARRYING HER ACROSS STONES ON A RIVER. AS YOU CAN SEE, SHE'S READY FOR HER FIRST CLIPPING
Lindab
Sorry, can you remember what time you saw them?
Lindab
Many thanks for this - we'll be there. Thanks also for the sharing - it really does help
lhasalover
I saw some people with a little black female cocker pup in west park on Tuesday about 5pm. Didn't speak to the people but she came running over to play with my dogs, never seen her there before. She had a shorter coat than this but she could have easily been clipped. She did also roll over on her back like you mentioned! It would probably be worth postering west park. Good luck with your search, have shared on facebook and twitter x Last edited: 2013-09-06 00:16:50 by lhasalover
Lindab
Thanks so much for your ideas. We have done some of the things that you mention but we'll follow through on the others. I've met some lovely people whilst looking for Molly - I suppose every cloud has a silver lining. Thanks to everyone who is looking out for her

I think so too, Linda. I'm sorry. However there is lots you can do.First report her has stolen with the Microchip company, so if she is scanned for a chip it will be flagged. The idea is to make Molly 'Too hot to handle' for whoever has her. Report her disappearance as a crime with Police and get a crime number. It might be an opportunistic crime where someone saw Molly wandering and picked her up. By law they should report her has found. Knock on doors in the local area, look in gardens, poster has much as possible, speak to your biggest allies, other dog walkers asking them to look out for someone new with a cocker spaniel puppy like Molly. Check popular dog walking areas. Target vets, pet shops and stores with posters. Ask local taxi firm drivers and postmen to keep a look out for her.

Also, if she has been deliberately stolen, she may be sold on. Internet sites such as Gumtree and Pre Loved sell dogs so check these regularly.
Lindab
Thanks for this. I've also registered with animalwardens.co.uk. I know she's only been gone 2 days, but this is a puppy we're talking about - she's still teething. I really do think that she's been stolen and I can't see how I can get her back. I really wish that all dogs were regularly scanned so that dogs like Molly could be more easily picked up.

Hi bazil, thanks for this advice. We've produced some leaflets with her picture, but have run out of printer ink! Have ordered more from Amazon so hope to get them out first thing tomorrow. Thanks again for your suggestion - all ideas gratefully received. Thanks also for sharing on FB
BBKM
Ask all your neighbours to check in their sheds, children playhouses etc, she may be trapped in one.
Will share on my FB page...hope little Molly is found and home safe very very soon xLast edited: 2013-09-04 17:19:21 by BBKM
Lindab
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE IMAGES ARE ABOUT 3 MONTHS OLD NOW. SHE IS HAIRIER AND SLIGHTLY BIGGER, AND HER MUZZLE IS NOW LONGER; BUT HER COLOURING IS STILL THE SAME (YOU MAY SEE A BROWN TINGE ON THE SIDE OF HER IN SOME LIGHT)
Lindab
Just to let you know, there have been 2 black cocker spaniels taken to Marple vets - yesterday and this morning - (what is the chance of that?) Neither is Molly, but thanks to everyone for letting me know. We even had a call from Surrey, but the microchip number wasn't correct. It gives up hope :-)

It wasn't Molly that was taken to Marple Vets :(

Molly is just 5 month old and very friendly. She will happily roll on her back for anyone. When she first went missing I was cutting the outside of the hedge and can't believe I missed her. My first worry was that she would get run over. She's now been missing over 24 hours so I think someone must have her - she really is very cute. We're busy flooding the area with posters and facebook comments so I'm hoping that someone will realise what they need to do to get her back to her family; but I think that she may now be on the way to "new owners" or a puppy farm for breeding. She is chipped, but unfortunately we don't automatically check all dogs so she could remain under the radar. We have another dog so this will be the first time that Molly is without a canine partner. I hope she's OK wherever she is
