Hi Foplks, Just to up date you all. We are still looking for Katie. Thanks for the link SueC. But I cant deem to make it work. Have registered twice now with the foram, but it still wont let me in! could you please send me a pic. We have now got a new GSD a lovley boy called Thor, who is microchipped and taged. he is 8mths now and up to all sorts. I know that Katie is out there somewhere and would love to have her home, we miss her all the time. If someone has given her a forever home and she is happy there I could live with that as well as long as she is happy, but would love to see her. I don't think I will ever give up looking for her. Thanks to everyone for all the help. Tacemarie xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

the little bit of fur joyce at rosedene has looks a lot brighter than what we can see of katies in the pic. joyce does seem friendly and not nervouse but that could be because she is weak. i will see if they can check for a lump tomorrow.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I was reunited on Mon 22nd May 06 with my patterdale terrier cross Nelson (who we lost when we were in Devon) through the help of this site and so have only just become a helper. I work in Basingstoke in an office of 250 people so wil put some posters up on staff notice boards. Hope this may help! Keeping my fingers crossed for Katie's safe return! There's a post on dogpages about a GSD being thrown out of a car on the M6 in North Cheshire earlier this week. The police herded it (sex not known) off the motorway and now it's running scared. Hope it's not Katie but may be worth checking out. ChrisLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Tace Marie, I've had a look on the internet and it looks like The Vetinary Centre is the nearest vets to Briarfield Kennels (both in the Twyford area and postcodes very similar) Their number is 01189 340 259. I have tried calling but it was engaged. If they weren't the vets Catwoman took this GSD to then they might be able to point you in the right direction. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Tace Marie, any news on Katie? I have kept an eye out whilst walking my dog over the weekend (living in the Reading area - further to Catwomans comments) but unfortunately nothing. With a potential sighting in Reading it might be useful to get an article in the Reading Chronicle (local free paper)? I really hope Katie is home soon. Cat Woman
So sorry....I thought she was actually staying at Briafield & later found out she was just being socialised there by the foster carers who are looking after her. All I was told was that she is now in the care of the RSPCA. I'm told that the dog is not very good with other dogs but is very friendly with people...and tends to cower when anyone raises their hands near her. When I caught her she was wearing a light brown collar with a silver blank metal nameplate on it. Sorry I gave wrong info this morning...I've only just got in to update this. I'll call the Vets as soon as they open & will check that they have done everything possible regarding the out of date microchip. If only these dogs could talk..isn't it frustrating. my fingers are so crossed for the safe return of KatiexxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Catwoman please get the kennels holding the dog you found, to ask Petlog for details of the vet that chipped her, they may have an uptodate phone number at the surgery. Is there any chance that the dog you found could be Katie shes been missing since 22nd March?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I found a female German Shepherd running around on the main road in Reading a couple of weeks ago. She was very frightened & took my whole range of dog tempting techniques before I finally caught her & at least prevented a horrible accident. I took her to a local vet where they found a microchip...but sadly an out of date phone number & so far nobody has come forward to claim her. She is being cared for by Briafield kennels in Woodley & is still there this morning. I can't beleive that nobody has claimed her, as somebody has obviously loved her at some point & she really looked in decent condition. Definitely not a dog used to wandering, as she had no road sense whatsoever. Fingers crossed for her that this might help to find her owner.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a thought - These supermarkets usually have their rubbish areas secure, enclosed and fenced off .Could be worth asking the Store Manager on duty their permission to leave entrance open and scenting done in there whilest staking out ? If Katie went in , entrance is easily then closed off to catch her.Could be worth considering .....Fingers crossed for Owner and Katie.JxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

From experience of looking for our dog last month areas to poster that we used ; schools as lots of children parents around at beginning end of day, taxi companies as drivers out and about all times of day and night, train stations & bus stops as people hanging around will read posters. Yell.com is good resource for tracking down addresses and e-mails. Someone also suggested to me local teenagers as they often know what is going on in local area more than adults. Sending positive thoughts to you and the beautiful Katie. Janet Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Right... helpers listen carefully... Katie is a dog unused to human contact so she may run if approached - unless you use "proper" dog behaviour - go low, no eye contact. Katie will not willingly come for treats - she doesn't know what treats are so REALLY REALLY smelly food needed if spotted to tempt her in... she's been out a while so may be hungry - please also look out for signs of scavenging, torn bin bags etc. Possible sightings in Popham (hope that's spelt right!) and Kempshot - but there is also another GSD missing in the Winterstead area - so we're not sure if this is Katie or the other - either way the loose dog needs spotting to eliminate one or the other. Lots of posters, please, Janine is frantic with worry. This dog has had one hell of a life before finding her, lets get her back home to the life she deserves.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
