- The Bridge Hotel have been wonderful and have offered to help with another girl who is still missing around the Coniston area . We are all so happy Missey has been found safe and certainly don't wish to hijack her page or detract from how happy we feel for her and her owners as we are overjoyed she is now home where she belongs -but could we ask for help from any local people again with the search for Poppy . If there any local helpers who know the area and would be able to assist would be very grateful or by sharing Poppys page . Poppy had been sighted again since she went missing at a spot called "The Bell" which is by the Old Man, Coniston (according to the map). Please see the link to her page :: http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php?dogId=56599 xxxxLast edited: 2013-09-08 23:14:32 by Furlover - Area Co-ordinator, West Yorkshire

- I am ecstatic to see Missey is safe and back home especially as she is an "older lady"!!! Thank you Rachel, ESSJ and Ray at the Bridge Hotel for messaging me to let me know she was safe - I apologise but I'm afraid only just got in and able to access internet. Huge thank you to Dunedog, Loopylurcher for helping search and to everyone who has shared her details and offered their help. Special thanks has to go to the Bridge Hotel ( Ray & Attila ) they have been absolutely fantastic in their help and certainly went out of their way in how they helped with Missey and Cleo . I think they deserve a Doglost "award" as they have been amazing in both instances. Wish Missey & Cleo could talk to explsin what occurred when they both just disappeared in this area. It may be an idea to alert owners to keep dogs on a lead when at this area to be on the safe side. Welcome home Missey xxxx

- ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. This is just so good to see. I'm so pleased you found her. Methinks she'll be getting some loud bells on her collar now so she can't slope off again. Clever old girl. Well done all who got up there looking and well done Rachel and Peter for all your posters and determination.

- Excellent news! I thought if she was up there someone would have found her by now, sensible dog took cover. A great end to the weekend!
- 2013-09-08 15:47 misseymolly
- we actually ran into her, we had a bite to eat in the Bridge Hotel and were just heading home to print more posters to put up in the campsite toilet block when we came across her in the road, there were about 3 walkers and two cyclists and she was just running between the lot of them, its a miracle, she is bone dry so she must have found good shelter on friday and saturday when it poured down, and came out today with the sunshine!
- 2013-09-08 15:36 AnnieSparky
- Brilliant news :)) Has made my day to see Missey is home safely. Shes a clever girl finding shelter, did you (owners) find her on the road? Bet she was very excited to see you :) Great photos...well done everybody :) xx
- 2013-09-08 15:25 misseymolly
- a massive thanks to all who helped with spreading the word about Missey, and those who went out to search, some of whom we met whilst looking. just got her home, she is very dry apart from her legs and feet so we wondered if she spent friday and saturday when the rain was atrocious holed up somewhere, Just had a text from the guy who found cleo and his description of where cleo was is "on the north facing side of the knot where all the trees are growing theres a large ledge thats very sheltered", Missey was in the road, not far from Wilderness wood and the end of crummock water, just in case any other dogs get lost in this area. Thanks to the Bridge Hotel Buttermere, Doglost, and all those who put it out there on twitter and facebook, Rachel, Peter and Missey xxxx

- That is such good news. I've just returned from Rannerdale (with binoculars and my dogs) and have been on the fell since just before lunch. I was so disheartened not to find any sign of her being there. I'd even walked the road to see if she'd made it down to the water, she can't have been far away from me at all if she was in the woods but there were plenty of people in there so I didn't venture in that direction. I'm so happy for her and her owners that she has been found.

- The Bridge Hotel Great news! Missey has been found! She was near Crummock, by Wilderness Wood, and is well! After some food and a loving cuddle, she posed for a picture before going home for some TLC. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped, her owners are so very happy to have her back
- 2013-09-08 12:43 dunedog
- Just got back but no luck yet. Met Peter on the top he showed me the spot she went. It's a mystery really as quite open and not extensive crags at that point. I checked around the crags on the buttermere side in the heavy gorse where possible and also on the other side near the cairn. Then came down lower checking gorse and as much area as possible with binoculars. Hope someone else has more luck.

- Have just spoken to Ray at the Bridge Hotel who has a contact with Honister Slate Mine and another who is involved with the mountain rescue team so he is trying to make contact with them - discussed the fact that they do have thermal imaging equipment . Hoping they may help . People have gone up & are searching from the Crummock side Have spoken with Rachel who is on her way to meet with them. - Have just spoken to a lovely man named "Attila" at the Bridge Hotel. They are aware Missey is missing. I informed them that owners & helpers are on their way up to check the area. Gave him the mobile numbers for Rachel & Peter as he is going to get the message out around Buttermere for local volunteers to help search the area.
He also said that Missey has been "shared" 293 times on their Facebook page. - 2013-09-08 09:41 misseymolly

best read this link as cleo was lost from exactly the same place and was on a ledge...may be worth phoning cleos owners for the exact location as she was missing for days before being seen...... - 2013-09-08 06:52 misseymolly
- On the buttermere side of the hill just below where the cairn marks the highest point
- 2013-09-08 02:04 cherry
- Rannerdale Knott has steep sides, have the flanks been checked for ledges upon which she may have fallen. A dog was recently found nr Buttermere stuck on a ledge in similar circumstances after several days. I will head over to Rannerdale tomorrow to check it out myself but would ask that others who intend to scout the area look carefully at ledges also.
- 2013-09-07 23:10 dunedog
- Where exactly on the ridge was she last seen? The highest point above Crummock? And any particular side?

- keeping fingers crossed for her safe return. Don't give up hope. Best of luck

- Hope Missey is found safe & well. It is worrying when she has disappeared from sight so quickly which does make me wonder if she has become trapped or entangled close to where she was last seen. There have been many instances of this where some of the found dogs that had become trapped didn't make any noise at all so please don't give up hope of finding her yet!! I have rung Cockermouth Mountain Rescue team as they cover the Buttermere area(on the "ordinary" number (as the other option would be a 999 call ) but has gone to a voicemail service so left a brief message and my contact details I just thought could perhaps ask if there are any members of the team who may be able to help -- as they usually have thermal imaging equipment. Another option may be to see if you could hire one.Fingers crossed for this lovely girl xxxLast edited: 2013-09-07 17:57:04 by Furlover - Area Co-ordinator, West Yorkshire

- thanks for looking dunedog, its the only conclusion we can come to, she is a very friendly dog and would approach people, we fear the worst.
- 2013-09-07 13:57 dunedog
- Been up there this morning in rain. Saw the update and looked through a lot bracken on the buttermere side slopes but no sign unfortunately. It may be as owners suspect sadly and until the bracken dies back it's going to be difficult. Hoping she may have made it down somewhere though.

- Have been sharing on FB... so worried about this dear girl, wish I was nearer to help. xx
- 2013-09-07 08:43 Loopylurcher
- I do hope she is found. With your posters everywhere and her missing status getting passed around twitter and facebook people will be keeping their eyes peeled for any sign.
- 2013-09-07 08:33 misseymolly
- thanks to everyone who has been helping search for missey, we went out again yesterday with binoculars and another friend with a dog who knows missey, but no news. She has never run away and always keeps us within her line of sight, she was out with my partner, our other dog and a friend with her 3 dogs, apparently she was there one minute and then just disappeared. she was an undiagnosed cushings for many years which could have affected her heart, and she was 11yrs old, we feel she may have just passed on and is hidden in the bracken as the place she disappeared is on top of the fell with no trees, and on the day it happened visibility was excellent, and it was very quiet, we could hear each other calling for her all over the valley, as it was so quiet we were listening for any barks or whines, but it was just very quiet, and no sign of sheep running around at all on the fell, which you may expect if a dog was running loose.

- Couldn't sit so been over there tonight. Met a guy with his dog who had also been out looking. He'd walked from the bottom of the crags on the Cinderdale side of Rannerdale up to the summit and along, but no sign.
I walked sections of Cinderdale and scoured the crags with binoculars but poor visibilty . Then moved to end of Crummock on off chance but still no sign. Will try and get out again tomorrow, if not Sunday but work committments or tight at the moment.
Lots of really clear posters already out at start of every footpath so hopefully with lots of folk out walking she'll be found over the weekend. - 2013-09-06 16:33 Loopylurcher
- Will get posters out around Cockermouth tomorrow and if I can try to get over to Crummock for a look before I leave for Newcastle in the afternoon.
