Absolutely no problem with filling the gap in your lives, and well done for taking in two rescue dogs and giving them a lovely home. Let's keep everything crossed that Buddy and Winnie will one day meet their big brother! x
Sharon
18 months yesterday Jax went missing. We still miss him and hope for his safe return. There was such a void in our lives that we now have x2 rescue mini Schnauzers, Buddy, ex stud dog 8 years old and grumpy, and Winnie a 3 year old bitch who runs the house. It would be really fantastic if they could meet Jax one day. Forever hopeful.
blackbeard2
Hi Sharon . . . Seems a long long shot I know because of distance, but please check found 78694 North West. Not many details listed, doesn't say male or female. Fingers crossed for you x
alikat
Oh Sharon, I didn't realise he was so young. It must be so hard for you to remain positive. As you say, his microchip should tell the truth sooner or later. xx
Sharon
Jax will be 3 today. Another birthday missed. Staying hopeful that his microchip does what it's supposed to do.
AlisonH
75308 IS NOT Jax
AlisonH
Thank you Sarah I have alerted the owner to your message.
Sarah
One listed as found on Doglost http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php?dogId=75308#.VB3hlvldWHE Does say tail docked though so unless been done since, probably not him.Last edited: 2014-09-20 21:25:46 by Sarah

Would it be possible for Admin to bump Jax as he's been missing a year today :)
alikat
I can't imagine how you must feel, it must be awful just not knowing where or how he is. All we can do is wait for another sighting - he does seem to be a survivor and you have done everything in your power to find him. Let's just keep looking and hoping.
Sharon
One year today my best friend went walk about. It has obviously been a very traumatic time for both Sharon and I, but we remain hopeful of Jax's return soon. The most difficult thing is not knowing what has happened to him. Is he still out there walking around? Has someone taken him in and not reported it? Is he dead? Many thanks to all of you who have offered your support and let's hope Jax will come home soon.
Sharon
Hi Alison, thanks for the tip off, but that's not Jax. I will try and change his photo to one with a Schnauzer with Long hair. Thanks again.
alikat
Sharon, I know it's a long shot, but could this dog found be Jax? Doglost ID 73927.
alikat
Well done Sharon for your persistence. Never lose hope - the weather has been mainly good, there is plenty of game about, in such a rural area he could be surviving very well. We just need one sighting and then can have a gigantic search party!
Sharon
It's that time again, 11 months of posting flyers, walking a vast area, contacting Vets, dog groomers, rescue homes, dog wardens for 3 counties, dog kennels, newspaper editorials, face book, Dog lost, Alfies lost dogs, psychic mediums, getting hopes up after calls from someone saying they have seen Jax, then hopes being dashed when there is no sign of him, even standing outside of 2 main super markets in the area with a poster, and still he is not at home where he belongs! Someone must know where he is???? Come home Jax, it's been long enough now. He could now look like the photo attached, so if you know anyone with a new salt n pepper Medium Schnauzer about 24"high at the shoulder, a dark head with white stripes on either side of his nose, and a curly tail then please let me know asap. Your help is much appreciated.
blackbeard2
Fantastic news about the possible sighting of Jax x
alikat
Great news - saw it earlier on Facebook. Let's hope it is Jax and he's still in the area. Fingers crossed.
Sharon
I've just received a call from a girl saying she saw a dog that looked like Jax in East Court park in East Grinstead 2 weeks ago. She had just seen one of the posters I put up a couple of months ago. She said he was following her, but disappeared into the woods. She was not 100% sure it was him, but said he looked like the dog in the photo. I hope it was him as it mans he is alive and still roaming around. Please share this and anyone in East Grinstead please keep an eye out for him. We need him home. Thanks
alikat
Hi Sharon, great to see your update - I check every day for news. Have sent friend request on FB and will share the details again. Don't give up hope - another microchipped dog missing for four years was reunited the other day!
Sharon
We can't believe it's been 10 months since Jax went missing! Thanks to everyone who has commented on facebook giving their support and positive messages, it's really appreciated. Does anyone know of someone in their local area with a new standard schnauzer? We hope Jax has been taken in by someone, so any leads are gratefully accepted, and will be followed up confidentially. There have not been any other sightings of Jax since February, but we are fighting off the negative thoughts, and really hope he will be seen/ found soon. 07785918444 or https://www.facebook.com/jax.winn
alikat
Hi Sharon, it must be very hard wondering where Jax is and what has happened to him... I just can't imagine what you are going through. I have shared on Facebook again. Let's hope others will do the same and you will get some news. x
Sharon
It is 9 months today that Jax went missing. He was last seen at the end of February running along the B2028 near Dormansland in Surrey, but he has not been seen since. We have tried everything to try and find him, handing out flyers at paws in the park at Ardingly, renewing posters in the area, keeping in touch with the dog wardens for Sevenoaks and Tandridge area, and walking around on the off chance we may bump into him, but still no luck in finding him. We think either he has run out of food and died, or someone has taken him in and are looking after him, or he is still out there somewhere fending for himself. We are trying to stay positive, but it is very difficult to get on with our lives when we have no idea what has happened to him. Does anyone in the Edenbridge, Oxted, Lingfield area know anyone who has a new dog that looks like Jax in the last few months? His hair will be about 4" long now so he may be mistaken for another type of dog. Hopefully we will get some news soon.
Sharon
We had a really good day at the Paws in the park at Ardingly show ground on Saturday. We stood by the entrance for a few hours with jax's missing poster, and handed out flyers to anyone who was interested. Many thanks to everyone for your kind positive words. Dog people a fantastic,
alikat
The Ardingly show sounds like a really good idea Sharon. You know that several of us are poised to leap into action for a concerted search once there is another sighting.... we just have to be patient and not lose heart. I didn't know about the show at Ardingly as I've just got back from holiday, but I may well go along. x
blackbeard2
Sorry to read there have been no recent sightings, but as Alikat says there are other dogs that have turned up after even longer, so here's hoping you have another sighting very soon x That is a great idea about flyers at the Ardingly show, wish you well and hope it brings some news of your boy x
Sharon
Still no sign of Jax, the last sighting was at the end of February. How long can a dog last on their own in the countryside? There's a paws in the park on at Ardingly show ground this Saturday and Sunday, so I'm going to go and hand out some flyers. You never know someone might have seen him?
alikat
It must be so hard for you Sharon, but don't lose heart as you know dogs have been found after even longer than this. You just have to keep the faith and keep those posters and flyers fresh. Every day I hope to see some news of a sighting of Jax so we can then concentrate on searching a particular area. x
Sharon
After walking and putting up posters in the area near Haxted Mill, Crowhurst village, and Hurst Green over Easter there have not been any new sightings of Jax. I'm not sure what else we can do now, apart from hope that someone sees him and lets us know very quickly, or he gets handed in to the local dog warden, who know about him being missing. I have left flyers with all the local kennels and rescue places, so hopefully he will come back to his family soon. Getting desperate now.
blackbeard2
Thinking of you, sending you strength and many blessings xx
alikat
Shared again, fingers crossed for you x
Sharon
Having searched a large area for any sign of Jax and put up numerous posters there have been no new sightings of Jax since the middle of February. Please, if you know anyone in the Edenbridge or TN8 area, could you ask them to look out for him? It's nearly 7 months since he went missing and we are really trying hard to keep positive, but as time goes by it's getting more difficult. We need him home now.
blackbeard2
Great news on another sighting Sharon. . . everything crossed for you and your lovely Jax. . . most definitely time to come on home x
alikat
That's good news Sharon. I will share it on my Facebook again as I have friends in that area. If you keep the posters fresh, hopefully there will be more sightings and we can have a proper search. Of course he will be wary of people now as, having survived on his own all this time, he will be semi-feral. Great that he is still alive and active so, as you say, it's time to come home.
Sharon
We put up some more posters on saturday in the Marsh Green and Haxted Mill area, near Edenbridge. A nice lady called yesterday to say that she thinks she saw Jax 2 weeks ago running down the B2028 near Dormansland. He was really scared and wet as it was the night if the storm. She turned around to try and get him into her car, but he had run off into the fields. Another sighting and a boost for us. He is still out there but seems to be scared of people. With any luck, he will be seen again and I can get to the area and search for him. Time to come home now Jax.
alikat
Thanks for the update Sharon. I check Jax's page every day to see if there is any news. Really all you can do is keep the posters fresh, regularly walk in places that he knows, and hope for another sighting. Once he has been seen, you will have an area on which to concentrate, and I am sure there will be willing volunteers to help - myself included. As you say, you must stay optimistic.
Sharon
Monthly upadate- It's now 5 months since Jax went on his adventure. We have had a couple of sightings, the most recent in December, but there is still no sign of him. Before December we thought he had been taken in by someone, or perhaps taken to a different area, or worse, but after the sighting we now feel he is still wandering around, getting food wherever he can. We can but hope he is ok and that one day he will approach someone or be found in some out buildings, and taken to a vet or the dog warden where his microchip will bring him home. We think about him every day and hope for the call to say he has been found. Staying optimistic.
blackbeard2
Hope the newspaper advert brings some news of your lovely boy, fingers crossed always xx
Sharon
We put out some smelly clothing over the weekend and returned to the area every day,but still no sign of jax. I have put an advert in the Kent and Sussex Courier, www.courier.co.uk, which will come out on Friday 28th Jan. Hopefully this will get his info out to more people in the area. Thanks Blackbeard, I have given posters to all farms and riding stables in the area. fingers crossed he will be home soon.
blackbeard2
Another thought (you may have done so already, if so forgive me saying), perhaps put Jax's poster with all stables local to the areas you mention in your last post. You say this isn't a very populated area, is it well used by horse riders? I'm in Surrey so not familiar with the areas you mention, so unsure of how many yards maybe in this vicinity. Even though you have probably postered bridle paths you've walked, sometimes from horseback you may not notice the posters, especially if travelling at speed!
I'm sure the robust, sturdy and strong willed nature of the Schnuazer will be keeping Jax safe xx
Sharon
I contacted the people that sighted Jax andthey are 90% sure it was him. Jax was sighted at lunchtime on the 19th December, on footpath 657 which runs north to south, just west of Crippenden Manor,in a field West of Liveroxhill woods. I have searched the area from the A264 in the South, Hollow lane in the West, B2028 in the North and B2026 in the East, covering all public footpaths and bridle ways. I think he is a survivor as he has lasted this long in an area that is not very populated, and having walked it there seems to be enough animal carcasses for him to feed on, and obviously enough water to drink!? I know I'm being optimistic, but I have to be.please keep an eye out for him if you live in the area. many thanks.
alikat
It must be hard to know what to do after all this time, so really all you can do is refresh the posters everywhere and keep on sharing. Let's hope there will be another sighting soon, then we can all spring into action. x
Sharon
It's now 4 and half months since Jax went missing. We don't know where to look for him now, as we have covered a huge area without another sighting. We have tried everything we can think of, including leaving out toys and clothing, but to no avail. We are sure he is still alive and surviving in the countryside, so Please keep sharing as the more people that know he is missing, the more chance we have of getting him back. Thanks for all your suggestions and continued support.
Sharon
I have contacted Jenny and registered my details on her web site. I will definately be giving her a call of Jax is sighted again.
blackbeard2
This site is also sometimes mentioned on doglost http://www.k9searchdog.org worth a look too. Always thinking of lovely Jax xx
alikat
Jenny's mobile number is 07740 149671. Good luck
alikat
There is a lady called Jenny who lives near Maidstone. She has a tracker dog called Tiga and has had some success in searching for dogs all over the country. I have asked one of the owners who has worked with her to let me have the phone number and will post it on here as soon as I get it.
Sharon
Thanks to Alison for her comments. It is really assuring to know that we are not alone in trying to find our Jax. I searched the area again over the weekend, trying to cover as many woods as I could in the time available. Last Chance do have a poster up and said they will let me know if any dog matching Jax is brought in. Does anyone have any contact details for a tracker dog? It could be worth a call to them if he is seen again?
alikat
I'm sure you've covered all of these things, but are you keeping in close contact with Last Chance Rescue? They are really quite close to Gilridge/Crippenden across country and have their fingers on the pulse locally. I'm sure they would also put up a poster for you. There is a dog called Chance that has just been returned to his owners after more than eight years! He was identified through his microchip. If you search on these listings for a reunited Staffie called Chance you can read about it.
alikat
I'm pleased to see you're still searching after all this time. You will know from reading other stories on this site that dogs are found after some really long periods of time. The weather has been really bad since that last sighting, so Jax has probably got himself a cosy den and is just venturing out to find food. Don't give up. xx
Sharon
Still no sign of Jax, even after searching an area from Dormansland to Marsh Green to Cowden and Holtye over the last couple of weeks. I think I have walked every public footpath and bridle way in the area. Still hoping for another sighting and his safe return.
Sharon
We have been out to look for Jax over the weekend, and not a single sign of him. We have put up more posters in the area and spoken to dog walkers, horse riders and local farmers, all of which said they will keep an eye out for him. The weather is supposed to be terrible over the next few days, so maybe he is in hiding. If you live in the area can you check your out buildings as he may be there? Many thanks for your support and have a great Christmas.
alikat
Hi, I managed to do the walk from Cobhambury Farm, through the woods to Gilridge, and then back across the footpath that runs from Crippenden to Cobhambury. Sorry to report that there were no signs of life in the woods, and surprisingly not that much undergrowth for Jax to hide in. No sign of him in any of the fields I could see, and my dog didn't react to anything else. I'm afraid I won't be able to search again until the New Year due to family commitments, but I hope to read that Jax has been found soon.
alikat
Hi Sharon. I won't be able to go tomorrow, as I'm helping search for another dog over near Sevenoaks. However, I'll try to get there on Thursday. Lots of lovely hiding places in the woods.....
Sharon
Hi, thanks for your offer, that would be great. I have looked further west around Ten Acre, Smokey , Liverox and Jules woods, and down to smithers lane. Due to work commitments, I wont be able to get out there again until Saturday. Hopeing someone will spot him again.
alikat
I used to live at Cobhambury Farm many years ago. Have you checked along the two footpaths that run through there from Crippenden Lane? One goes through fields and the other through the woods. I would be happy to walk them with my dog if you think it might help.
Sharon
We had a reported sighting of a dog who matched jax's description on Thursday 12th Dec at 12:30 in the TN8 7HW area, near Crippenden Manor, on Footpath 657. He ran upto them barking and ran past heading West. I have been searching the area since Thursday afternoon, but didnt see any sign of him. I looked for him all day on Friday and left meat, cheese and sausages out for him on Saturday night, but upon returning Sunday morning, it had not been touched. This is the best sighting of Jax in 3 months so I have posted flyers in a wider area and spoken to dog walkers, horse riders and locals. We are trying to remain positive that some one will see him again and we will have him back for Xmas?
blackbeard2
I know its not bbq weather today but what about cooking up some smelly food in the area he was sighted? xx
blackbeard2
Really hopeful news this sighting of your boy, keeping everything crossed for you and Jax xx
DogLostRavenette - Area Co-ordinator - West Sussex
According to Jax's facebook page...his owner was told of a sighting yesterday by a couple that were walking around the area he went missing....he was very thin and bedraggled, he was wary, barked at the couple then ran off. Owner went yesterday, but saw nothing and has been back today....All fingers and paws crossed that they are reunited with dear Jax very soon xxx
Sharon
Thanks for your support with Jax. Yes we have posted houses in the area, put up flyers outside of local schools, advert in local papers and stores, we've even had the local postmen looking out for him, but to no avail. I'm going to try the local radio again and keep putting up posters on the surrounding towns. The trouble is there are a lot of people that put on their jobs worth hat, and take the posters down, so we will keep replacing them on a regular basis. Keep the ideas coming. Someone will see him one day soon and give us a call?
blackbeard2
Always checking any updates on your boy x have there been any sightings of him at all since he went missing in September? I know you have his details on many websites, (forgive me if you've already done this) but have you put leaflets through doors in the local area and postered as many local areas as you can, including pet shops, local convenience stores, advert in local paper? Not all people use Facebook etc so it maybe that there has been a sighting of Jax but the person didn't maybe know he was missing. I'm sure your doing all of the above but I just thought I should say incase not. Hoping you have news of your beautiful boy very soon, thinking of you x
Sharon
No luck on the search at the weekend, even tough 15 people took the time to look. Keeping positive
Sharon
We have checked out both the main dog warden kennels for the wealden area, hammerponds and raystede, but no luck in finding jax. information left with both. Another walk today to see if we can find him and the 2 wheaten terriers that went missing in our area last week.
Sharon
Jax now has a face book page, so if you can click on the link https://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/jax.winn or copy and paste it into your browser, it will take you to the page. Please could you then share it with your friends? The more people that see it the more likely we will get him home before Christmas. Many thanks.
