So pleased for Grace, her finders and all that have helped. so sad the pair of scum bags who owned did not get a custodial, banning them for 15yrs although is a strong outcome isn't exactly going to hurt them is it like they hurt Grace!

PS what a stunner xxLast edited: 2014-07-26 08:25:00 by duffs54

pity it wasn't a severe jail sentence with no food or medication. Sorry, but really. It doesn't take one or two careless acts to cause this, it takes "dedication". Call her Lady, then let her get to that state - What the @*%(£$%. I do despair sometimes. At least Grace has another chance.

Thank you Fergal`s Servant for the update. Thank goodness this scum cant hurt another animal. Pity it could not have been a life ban.

Thank you for putting the update on Fergals Servant.x

At least the Scum Bags can't hurt another dog like this.x

Just seen this report. 'Pair Banned for 15 years for causing unnecessary suffering'

I watched it too; very moving. All the people involved in Grace`s recovery are all stars******. But I think the biggest STAR* of all is Grace herself who must have fought so hard to survive against all the odds, and won. You also stole all our hearts too. I hope you, your new owner, and your new pal have a great life together. You are one brave girl. Sending ((((HUGS)))) to Grace, and her new family:-) _;-) :-)xxxxxxLast edited: 2014-07-23 22:21:38

I just watched it. So awfully sad and yet so uplifting that Grace has come through it all looking so beautiful and content. She has a lovely owner and a friend too - they will all heal each other now. Thank you RSPCA. X

WOW Grace you are so beautiful and deserve your new home and family.
Well done to everyone involved in Grace's recovery. xx

how simply wonderful - this is what makes doglost such a great organisation - not only helping reuniting pets, but showing how many kind people there are who help, and many who so enjoy the reunited page - especially when an animal is found in such appalling condition. thankyou so much for showing us another really happy ending. made my day

So pleased Grace is doing so well. No worries Grace the scum who did this to you will one day have their comeuppance. Wish it was tomorrow. ((((HUGS)))) to Gracexxx

I have just watched it. So moving, you definitely need tissues. Glad she now has the life she deserves.
Esther
I am so thrilled to see Grace now, the screen has gone all blurry. Thank you all who helped her, you are brilliant.

New photo added in extra image box(refresh page to view) Amazing difference now that she is well fed and loved.
Baydogs
No living being should suffer as she did. It is a miracle that not only did she survive but she went on to become a happy healthy playful dog again.

Applause to all who made this happen, including that very special compassionate member of the public who noticed her, took her home, and became the first highly important link in her chain of recovery.

Those first pictures are disturbing. It would be uplifting to see her now Sarahd82 when/if you are able to do so.
Shereen
Amazing.... A lovely happy ending xxx

Grace's story was featured on today Animal SOS on BBC today, if you missed it you can watch it on iplayer (episode 7). She's one happy, healthy girl now and so lucky she was found just in time. I'll try put one of the pictures of her now on here although not sure how well it'll work as I'm on my phone.
Esther
Been a long time since there was an update on Grace. It would be so good to see an updated photo

Hi everyone, Grace's case is still going through the courts so unfortunately I'm, still not able to share any photo's, however hopefully it won't be much longer now before we can show you all how great she's looking. She's living life to the full in her new home with her wonderful owners and doggy friend. I'm told that she'll be featured on tv and we'll certainly cover her story on our website as soon as we can!

rspca leedsandwakefield
Hi there everybody, this is the Rspca Leeds & Wakefield branch, thanks for all your concern with regards to this girl, we just wanted to give you all an update on her. Unfortunately we can't give too much information about her past as the case is still ongoing with the inspectors, however, we will put some information on our website (both local and national) in due course. Grace (as we named her) has come into the care of our branch and has been staying with one of our lovely fosterers where she has fully recovered from her ordeal now. She has gained lots of weight, had her skin treated and her beautiful coat has grown back and she is now unrecognisable from the dog in this photo! (we'll upload some photo's soon). She is such a happy, healthy and very playful girl and we are pleased to say she'll be going off to her new forever home in the next few weeks, where she'll get all the love she deserves and a great canine companion to play with :-)
ClaireC
Thanks Coral xx

Sorry, I haven't been able to give any of you an update on this girl. Unfortunately I was only the 'poster' on Doglost and not the finder so don't know any more than any of you, though I agree, I would love to know how she is doing. I was asked to post the link to the news clip that was played on ITV NE news. I think it is further down the page but just in case http://www.itv.com/news/calendar/story/2013-09-24/emaciated-dog/

If I can find any more out then I will post for you all. x

Millys Mum
I can't get this poor girl out of my mind. She looks so forlorn. How is she doing? Is she managing to wag her tail again or is she in too much pain from her awful skin condition? Just so heartbreaking. Thank you to everyone involved in helping Grace - you are just the best of the very best. Wishing sweet Grace a full and speedy recovery xx
Abbe
Poor girl, I rescued a Saluki cross girl, I called her Grace, I had her for 6 years before she died suddenly from a bleed to the brain.6 years on I still can't talk about her without crying. What is wrong with these people?
I think we need to change the word humane, too many humans let us down.
mathers22
Hope they keep us informed on Grace - she's beautiful xx
Atanga
according to the news report on this poor girl, she is not micro chipped and thought to be black & tan although difficult to be certain. Hope she returns to full health & the graceful sight hound she should be. x
ClaireC
Thank goodness that she is in the right hands now and will be treated with respect, love and compassion to get her through. Good luck Grace I know someone will make you happy in a loving home xx

As I did post before earlier but no one seems to have taken notice ....:( could this be eclipse or spinner ? Both saluki's were lost quite a while ago ...their owners should be contacted and asked to come and ID this beauty ... Fingers crossed she is gorgeous just needs lots of TLC xx good luck girlie xx
Mollychops
Ohthats fantastic news Im so glad she is on the mend. Thanks so much for updating Lazy Fast Dog
LazyFastDog
As I am aware by the rescue group who offered this girl a place, she is safe in a boarding kennels & is recovering well. She is a now subject of a cruelty case being brought by the RSPCA & so will be staying where she is for the foreseeable future. BGP have offered her rescue space when she is released.
Mollychops
Ive spoken with Coral who very kindly put this poor girl on here. She is in the care of the RSPCA at the moment. I believe a rescue group in Birmingham have offered to take her. At the mement she is staying where she is due to her health problems. Either Coral or me will update when we know more . I think she has been allowed to get in this atrocious state, rather than been wandering loose. That's just my opinion for what its worth, having helped lurchers in the past in similar conditions
Mel
Can anyone keep us updated on this lovely girl . Please
ClaireC
This poor girl. I just get so totally uptight when I see any animal in this appaling emaciated condition. Dear God let someone give this poor girl a second chance of happiness and learn what kindness and love is.
Mel
How can anyone be so cruel x breaks my heart to see this girl x hope she gets a well deserved forever home x
Jo
This is just awful, poor girl. Thank goodness she is now in safe hands. Does anybody know if she was caught easily? If so, it may lean more towards that she was neglected and dumped.
Spindle
OMG, I am sometimes so ashamed of human beings, how can anyone let a dog get into this state. I hope Karma comes around in this case. Pray that she can be saved and made better.
sallybee
What a darling girl. I am stunned with shock as to how a human being could neglect a dog like this. I hope and pray she mends and heals well and gets the new name of Rosie - her future must be rosie after all she has suffered. Well done to those who are taking care of her and I wish her a speedy recovery. xx
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
What colour is this poor girl? Layla a stolen saluki lost id 46839 (from kent) is described as tri coloured/tan. I haven't cross referenced on Laylas page. You are safe now sweetie X
BigGSDPatlucky
Poor girl.
Looks more like she might have been neglected and dumped.
I saw a GSD looked just like that.
Wow you should see it now it is better.
Would not mind guessing this poor dog has mange.
So hope she will be better soon.
mathers22
Poor girl I am so pleased she's been found and now with right treatment and the right home will flourish into the beautiful dog she should be xx
dekkaann
I would hope that the RSPCA do everything
within their power to track down the owner.
If she has been privately owned hopefully
a neighbour will report in but if she has been
dumped from the other type of home it will be
hard to track down an owner as we all know!
For now she will be getting treatment and comfort
which is the main thing.
Vizsla55
Dear god, poor baby, we hope and pray u are safe and get the care and loving you so deserve. Love and hugs. xxxxx
hayley
What a sorry state poor girl. Do hope for a speedy recovery and a forever loving home for her. X

URGENT APPEAL FOR INFORMATION
A Saluki-type dog has been found wandering around Middleton, Leeds in a ‘shocking’ state. She was so emaciated her bones could be seen through her skin and she was suffering such a severe skin condition she was almost completely bald. She is currently with the RSPCA and a rescue place has been offered but we decided to post on here to see if she is somebody's missing pet. Judging by the state of her she could have been wandering for a while.
If you can help please call 0300 1234 999 and ask to leave a message for inspector Bamforth.Last edited: 2013-09-24 23:07:29 by coralvb
