Riggs has been missing for a year now so bumping to the top.
IF YOU HAVE THIS DOG OR KNOW WHERE HE IS THE OWNER WOULD JUST LIKE TO KNOW THAT HE IS SAFE AND HAPPY. On the otherhand if you are aware that Riggs is no longer with us then she would also like to know as it's the not knowing what has happened too him that is hard to cope with.
sarahw
Johnboy he was last seen in Thornborough last October,if you would keep an eye out for him that would be great thanks
Johnboy
I am trying to help here, does anyone have any more information
Johnboy
What I meant to ask was when AND WHERE, was he last actually seen ?
Johnboy
we are working on the new incinerator in the area where this dog went missing so could keep an eye out. When was he last actually seen?
sarahw
Thanks Katt, it's so sad, I'm sure if Rigg's disapppearance had been registered on here initially he would have stood a far better chance of being found then, the Rhodesian Ridgeback Welfare Trust were 'trusted' when they said that all that could be done was being done and all relevant people had been notified during the 'search', when Lesley then visited the area it was apparent that the local people she spoke to were not aware, when Lesley, Karen and Kim got the proper search going several people said they had seen him in the area initially but were not aware he was a missing dog! x
Katt
I will keep looking, I walk my boys in the field between Padbury and Steeple Claydon. I really hope we can find this poor doggy! X

As a thought it might be good to ask if Mix 96 (local radio station) would be able to put out a request for missing Riggs to see if anybody has picked him as a stray and taken him in. They will ask you to text them and they will supply the number or go onto their website www.mix96. Telephone number for them is 01296 393396.
ClaireC
Sorry, trying to remember where the "local" kennels are in relation to where he could be but there is another kennels at Wingrave and a fairly large kennels at Newton Longville.
kazzi1
Thanks Claire, yes every shop and board in SC has been postered as well as signs coming in and going out of the village. Will let the kennels at Winslow know.
ClaireC
Shame not Riggs. I believe near to the kennels where Riggs was lost from at Steeple Claydon, I believe there is still a Library there and that might be another good place to post. I am assuming that although SC is small that the shops and offices are aware of Riggs being missing from that area. There is another kennels near Winslow, I believe called Station Kennels, ? Station Road Winslow. (if they are still there) the owner might display a poster.
kazzi1
Sadly, it would now appear that the dog seen on 25th October was not Riggs, although similar, we have now made further enquiries after I spotted this dog being walked, whilst putting food down, and the dog had escaped out of a ground floor window and was heading towards Edgcott at 1.15 am that morning. Thankfully the dog was picked up in Grendon Underwood and returned to the owner.
kazzi1
Thanks Claire I will get posters out this week to the suggested places. I know Lesley has already alerted RSPCA at Quainton. Will be going up to check food in barn tomorrow.
ClaireC
Had a drive around Edgcott/Calvert area yesterday morning and again this morning. Sorry didn't see anything. Did think that it might be a good idea to check with the RSPCA at Quainton to see if they have had/seen or even aware of Riggs in this area. Quainton Railway Centre might be another good place to leave a poster with the amount of people who go out there and also there is the Cook & Fillet - lots of people go there and good poster souce and likewise Canelleto pub/restaurant. Bicester Shopping Village also good for handing out/displaying posters. I know this is quite a large area but not for a Ridgeback to have travelled.x

Hi sarahw. Sorry, only just seen your message. Would you still like me to text/email you, or has Claire been able to help?
kazzi1
Lesley and I were out the very early hours this morning shining a torch and calling Riggs in one particular place we felt he could be hiding, but no luck. Drove all around Shipton Lee, Botolph, Steeple Claydon, Edgcott etc etc only one sighting of a fox/badger unfortunately. I have spoken to the Manager at the landfill this morning who has confirmed all the staff are aware and are keeping an eye out for Riggs and will alert us as soon as there is any sighting.

Hi Sarah, lovely to speak to you. Hope some of the info I have given you is of some use in the future. Good Luck and I will continue to monitor some of the sites I have mentioned. I am around week commencing 4/5 Nov and if Riggs hasnt turned himself "in" by then can have a recce of some of the areas. Good Luck x
ClaireC
Hi Sarahw, got your message on my mobile. Can you give me a call on landline 01296 613835 reception is better!

Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum would you either be able to e mail me at:comraichholidays@yahoo.co.uk or text me on:07896 190647, just need some information please - thanks Sarah x
kazzi1
Have asked the person that spotted Riggs last night to look out for him over the next couple of days when he is driving home in the early hours of the morning and try and see where he is hiding. The police have a large trap that we can borrow once we know where to place it. All 3 searchers away this weekend unfortunately, but have suggested to Lesley we go out together in the early hours of Tuesday am to see if we can spot him.Last edited: 2013-10-25 20:53:00 by kazzi1
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
That's brilliant news Kazzi1. My son goes to Buckingham uni, so I'll get him to pass the word around there too x
kazzi1
Thanks Barney 'n' Ozzie's Mum. We have alerted Landfill staff and they have posters all around and in the cafeteria, they have even passed to the construction site for the EfW build.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
If you haven't done so already, you really MUST speak to the people at Calvert landfill site. Earlier this year a german shepherd was eventually caught after having lived rough on the landfill site for months (see reunited 49243). She was normally seen around 5am by one of the workers, just before it got light and the site got busy. They are really helpful up there, so don't hesitate to ask them to keep a look out for you. If I get a chance I will take a drive around the area over the weekend x
kazzi1
Confirmed sighting at 1.15 am this morning walking down Perry Hill towards Edgcott. Posters now put up and we will hopefully be able to get out at a similar time over the next few days to see if we can spot him. We are sure he is still going back to the Landfill along Lawn Hill Lane
kazzi1
Possible sighting end of last week crossing the main road near Buckingham Tesco, from the fields to the Buckingham side. I have put a poster up in Tesco but will get more posters up around this area.
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
I would suggest you widen the search area as Ridgebacks can travel up to 40 miles in one run. If I remember rightly one was reunited earlier this year 25 miles from where it first went missing from. When I told the owners this posters etc went up in a bigger radius and sightings came in which led to the dog being caught. Good luck
Help for Hounds
I have just shared his poster on about 10 different local selling pages on Facebook so hopefully that will help spread the word?
Gino
Further alerts sent to helpers in MK17,19. NN12.
kazzi1
Most recent sighting is Thornborough earlier this week. Admin asked to send out to alerts for MK17 area as well which covers Nash and surrounding villages. MK dog warden informed. Parish Clerks also will be alerted for villages in MK17 and MK18

We will sort the trap out morning and evening tomorrow and Saturday morning x
sarahw
Thanks Kim, Lesley has shown us round today, we have walked round a lot of the areas Riggs has been spotted, we took one of his 'brothers', so lots of scents left.
Help for Hounds
Spent a couple of hours this evening postering. Some posters were not very visible so have completely reposted around Botolph, East and Steeple Claydon, Sandhills and all along from the junction near the kennels to Botolph. Spoke to a few people to spread the word. No sightings as yet.Last edited: 2013-10-10 18:40:57 by Help for Hounds

Received pm thank you. Organised for doing scenting with the bitch tonight. Little girl has been given a towel to scent today, so all good for t,his evening x
DogLostAngus
Fireside Friends - I have send you a pm via facebook with an idea that has previously worked with scent from in season bitch x
sarahw
Karen and Kim, I've laminated a load of posters too, if one of you will e mail me your address, I'll see that they are in tonight's post to you. Kim if your friend with the bitch in season would walk the route that would be brilliant, Riggs is very keen in that department!
kazzi1
Kim just been out and bought some more laminates, just in the process of doing them now so have another 20. Off out in a min for about an hour if you text me your address I can drop them off to you this pm how many?. Thanks Karen
Help for Hounds
I food scented gate posts and fence post leading up from the main gate to the trap last night, so hopefully IF he's still in the area he'll get wind of it? As he's an entire male, I have also had an offer from a friend who has a bitch in season to walk the route so she can mark it, so this may help? Karen if you get five minutes can I get some posters off you (I'll laminate if you like) and I'll go round the route again and make sue EVERY dog walker in the area knows about him, thanks x
sarahw
Great work Karen, Lesley and Kim, yes fingers crossed!
kazzi1
Trap set more posters put up. Just need to wait for sightings now. Fingers crossed. Estate Manager and Head Gamekeeper aware now and will contact us immediately with sightings. Come on Riggs.

Trap is being collected in the morning

Lesley and I will be meeting up tomorrow at 11 am in the little car park off the Calvert to Botolph Claydon road where there is a bridle way to Runts Wood. If other people can join us perhaps we can formulate a plan.
Help for Hounds
Does anyone know of or have a large humane trap that we could borrow please? Do any of the area coordinators know where we could get one?
Help for Hounds
Kazzi1 can you email me your mobile so I can give you a call please to kim@firesidefriends.co.uk many thanks.
kazzi1
Fireside Friends Runts wood is on the right hand side just as you come into Botolph Claydon from the main road coming from Calvert Green direction. It is just a small muddy car park with a gate and is located just past the auctioneers. You walk down the long track and can go all the way round the woods or come back through Weir Lane and along the road.
kazzi1
I am Karen who put the advert on. I have today got 20 posters printed off and will laminate and put up over the weekend along with going up to Botolph in search of Riggs. I have also posted him on the Calvert Green residents facebook page and a friend told me today that she had seen Riggs by the shops in Steeple Claydon two weeks ago. His details are out there now so hopefully we shall start getting calls. I should also point out that Riggs bolted from the car he arrived in and managed to jump a 5 bar fence. The kennels have put the word around to the Landfill and local farms and gamekeepers. They went out several times the first week after he had escaped following up calls of sightings but he has not been spotted again until this week, they have also been putting food down near the kennels.Last edited: 2013-10-07 14:21:33 by kazzi1

Thank you so much Claire, very good of you, just e mailed Paula.
sarahw
Riggs escaped from the care of The Rhodesian Ridgeback Welfare Trust from a car on the general farm car park at Rosehill Farm in Steeple Claydon, on the 25th of August. I'm in Lancashire so don't know the area, but will ask Lesley who is out searching, for more information about Puddle Lane. Thank you so much, Sarah Last edited: 2013-10-04 16:24:59 by sarahw
ClaireC
You could email a poster of Riggs to Calvert Landfill. I have supplied the email address of one of the Admin team there. There is somebody up there very early in the morning and very late in the evening who keeps his birds up there. I'm sure if they are aware they will keep a lookout for him as this is a source of food area for him. Good luck.
