- Details on this case have been kept off site while action taken. It has been a distressing time for owners as they were contacted asking for money. Amounts increased to £1000. Owners were advised to alert police and they gave all details to local officers.
Things came to a head yesterday when they called to arrange swop- so owners said 9.00am but they wanted a later time in evening. They said no has to be earlier (I had advised best in daylight in area not secluded) plus inform police.
They then do not call back for a few hours in meantime police had called and were ready in area but as no meeting set could not wait.
Owners then sent a photo of the money to the thieves. Still nothing heard.
At 2pm they get a call from a young girl asking if lost a dog. She had found Gucci wandering on road near her home. She had seen some traveller type people driving a van looking for something (a dog?) so she grabbed Gucci and took her to a friend’s house. She was dirty and smelly so they gave her a bath. Possibly Gucci had somehow escaped? They were out searching for her as by now had seen the picture of money.
The girl and her friend tracked down Gucci’s details on the net and found details to contact owner.
Owner and friend drive to collect Gucci and while there a maroon car turns up with a man shouting that’s my dog. Owners male friend steps in blocks him and tells him to back off that police are on their way then shouts to get the number of the car.
Dognapper jumps in car and speeds off. Owners gratefully get Gucci from the gallant rescuers.
Owners later get a call from dog nappers saying you should get dog soon call police young girls have her. He then says wants no trouble. Wants no money u get dog back so happy- I want no trouble with police. ( slightly broken English so could be foreign )
Too late !! His car reg number is now in hands of police.
