Hi Lou&Tim. Glad you got my message and have checked this out. Sorry it wasn't Gin but pleased that you have a positive lead from the CCTV footage. Hoping that this will bring about the return of your little girl. Keep up informed won't you. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Sue I have checked this dog out and it sadly is not our Gin. Thanks for pointing this out to me though. We have had some good news from the police, they have identified one of the offenders from our CCTV footage and are fairly sure they know who the second one is. However they have made several attempts to arrest them and all have been unsuccesful. One of them is wanted for a matter of other more serious offences (so the police put it) and has failed to turn up in court for one of them so hopefully his days are numbered!!! Incidentally, I reckon Google Earth and similar sites have a lot to answer for with regard to dog thefts - easy enough to work out the layout of estates and properties with interesting looking outbuildings, etc!!!!!!!!!!!! And they call it progress..... ggggggggrrrrrrrr. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE leave these people alone!!!! Stay safe babies, your mummy and daddy are still looking for you... xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The police are fairly hopefull that the CCTV footage will lead to something but they have said they will probably only get community service. I was hoping they may be able to find out what they have been doing with all of the dogs they have taken which may lead us to Penny Dec05 & Gin, but I doubt they will be willing to give this kind of info. The police seemed to know the people involved but 3 ferrets and a ferret cage does not make the crime of the century! Even though they have taken dogs and ferrets from us before they will only be able to charge them with their latest effort as there is no evidence of the previous thefts. The police are again at least taking an interest and are hoping for a conviction so fingers & paws crossed they get the B******S. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Having sat & read all this thread I am absolutely disgusted by the polices attitude- no doubt it would be a different story if it was their houses & pets that were at risk. The people concerned are either very cocky or downright bl****y stupid. Good you have cctv, short of keeping the dog in the house all the time or with you I dont know what more you can do. Electric gates & long cattle prods if you cant catch they swines-zap them. I hope their day comes quickly & you get Gin back & can try and resume a normal life. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh no not again. The thieving Scum. There number will soon be up. Hopefully they will have the book thrown at them. We will wait and see. So sorry for the owners having to go through this yet again. Maybe if they catch them they should shove the Ferrets down their trousers for revenge. Still hoping that you get Gin back. Stay safe sweetie. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

They have been again, yesterday at about 1715 they tried to steal our patterdale! She has two expensive strong padlocks and chains on her kennel but this time they managed to prize the kennel door off of its hinges. She got out bit them and ran off, they did get away with all of our ferrets again though including one of their cages. The good news is we have cctv and we have the whole thing on video!!!!! We can clearly identify the theives, we are currently waiting for a visit from the police as the kennel door is covered in DNA as well as having the cctv footage. The police have promised to send someone out as this is now the 5th time we have been targeted! We have now had a total of 12 ferrets and 2 terriers stolen, the patterdale they tried to steal ran to safety to the farm where my partner works, he was not there so she obviously waited until they had gone and came home which is where I found her when I got home. They ignored our Lab and sprocker and went straight to her kennel so they had obviously been before! I will let you know what the police say, they can not possibly refuse to do anything this time.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can't say how sorry I am that you have had to go through all this - I don't understand why they are targetting you? I take it you may have an idea about who is doing this? - It would be enough to drive anyone mad - I can't understand why the police aren't doing more to help you - very worrying. I hope the new press coverage brings some good news and that both your dogs are reunited with you very soon. XXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How awful for this poor family! When will the police start to take this crime more serioulsy and damn well do something about it. What a pretty little girl Gin is, it breaks my heart to think about what you're going through. Stay strong though and remain positive - you see some fantastic reunited stories on here all the time sometimes months, even years later - never give up hope xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

IMPORTANT UPDATE I checked out the dog found by candyfloss which sadly turned out not to be ours but many thanks for the info the people at the kennels where very helpful. Sadly we have today had another visit from whoever it is that keeps on steeling our dogs and they tryed to take our last remaining patterdale. They smashed her padlock off of her kennel but luckily she escaped and ran off to the farm where my partner was working he returned home to discover they had stolen all of our ferrets. This is the third time we have visited by these people I have reported it to the police but doubt we will hear anymore. They came literally minutes after I had left the house so they are obviously watching us which is very worrying as I am at home on my own with a 6 week old baby. Maybe we should move or not keep dogs or ferrets anymore!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My Bf and i found a black patterdale terrier bitch last nite ( 11.07.06), near Flitwick beds, young, no collar, and quite skinny, but lovely temprament. I no that this is quite a distance from you, but there is a large traveling community nearby, so she may have been based on?? We took her to the local police station who told us she would be transfered to RHEINCROFT KENNELS, WELLS LANE COTTAGE, NR RETFORD, NOTTS tel-01777 249181. Police said that the dog would be transfered today. I no there is only a slim chance of this being ure dog but thought u may want to make contact. Best wishes and good luck Laura x.x.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

During a recent visit to Dog groomers in Marlow, where they now have Gins poster, the owner tells of a customer whose dog went missing locally. The owner put a poster in Asda High Wycombe and very quickly received a phone call from someone who had her dog. The wouldn't give info re themselves and were very cagey, but agreed a meeting place, and her dog was returned. Unfortunately the owner paid a reward, and this is probably why these people decided to return the dog. Just thought I would pass on this info.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Lou and Tim.... Please try Oxfordshire County Council's traveller liaison officer, Mark Gold, he is dealing with a site on the A4155 Henley Road towards Caversham? Thanks so much for doing this littlebee. We had guessed at local G's but we are surrounded by them and dont know where to start. The same green subaru was seen last thursday night at Stonor ramming deer and leaving them for dead, this explains why the car is damaged at the front. Sadly this has also been reported to the police but once again nothing has been done. I will have a chat with Tim he knows alot of local people and may know who this other guy is. Hi Lou and Tim, We too had one of our Patterdales stolen last month but gladly managed to trace the culprits and he was reunited with us a fortnight later. All our dogs are working and we believe thats why we were targeted. I am miles away up north so can not offer physical assistance however if Gin has been stolen for work make contact with any local Gamekeepers (my partner is one and he knows all the local terrier men) and try www.patterdale-terrier.co.uk this is a working dog site, the guys on the forum are generally "rough diamonds" but will no doubt offer assistance amongst the working terrier community (some of whom are very dodgy!!) but they are very anti dog theft as alot of them have had similar experiences. Let me know if there is any else I can help with. Will keep my eyes peeled in the 'Countrymans Weekly', and the 'Shooting Times' as lots of working dogs are sold through their classified ads- Kindest Regards Rebecca xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

At around 11 this morning, the owner noticed three men running away from the property, they got into a green subaru estate. The owner didn't actully see Gin, but then noticed that she was gone. . . very suspicious. Gin is the second dog that has been stolen from these people, the first was penny,(09/12/05) who is still on the lost site. The owners can be contacted on 07725 312216Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
