- This is the problem with cats not neutered, they tend to wander more, especially males, as they go looking foir a girfriend. Male cats territory only about 4 garden spoaces females 2. Try cooking some chicken or fish as the smell may tempt him to come back. Put some item with his scent on in the garden if possible, yours too. Cats rely very much on scent as I k now having two myself. Good luckx
