Latest development, chip number checked against the batch of possibly faulty Virbac chips, number matches one of those batches......
Owner will be contacting Virbac in the morning and also getting his other dog@s chips checked as they were around the same time.

A patterdale was recently found in Bristol and added to a local pet group. The photo was so similar to this one the owner and finder exchanged photos and compared distinctive marks, both concluded it was the same dog. When collected by the dog warden no chip was found but she was very wriggly and difficult to scan. She was very quickly claimed from the pound kennels.
Following discussion between owner of the missing one and the dog warden it was agreed that they would go and scan the dog again, still no chip found but the dog warden also stated that the one scanned had no white on her tummy. The finder disagrees with this and it was due to matching the white hairs in the photos that led both finder and owner to believe it was the same dog.
What a difficult situation. Would like to thank the dog warden for going to the property to re scan but just wondering if a different dog was shown for scanning?

Martin is very upset after today's events. He has spent all day on the phone trying to find out more about this found dog. The lady that found her has confirmed all markings and distinctive features and by looking at the photos is a match. He was told by a lady at the pound that this dog was a puppy, but was told by the finder that the dog was 100% not a puppy, this was later confirmed by someone at the council. We have emailed the photographs taken by the finder and photos of Martin's to this person in the council along with a message asking for the dog to be taken back to be 're scanned and for Martin to be able to see her. The person from the council told Martin that the dog had been scanned all over and properly but according to the finder that the dog was not as she would not keep still, the finder also asked for update from the pound which she hasn't had. The person that claimed this dog had claimed her within 1 hour of her being registered found (we've been told) and they said they lost her 4 weeks ago!! Did the pound have any proof from this person that they are the owners? If anyone can offer any advice or help we would be very grateful.

The one found in Bristol was scanned (with difficulty as she was very wriggly) but no chip showed and she was very quickly claimed. At that time there dog warden was not aware of this one missing and had no reason to check further.
Owner of this one is interested to know if the owners of the found one have acquired her recently. After comparing photos of the 2 dogs there are many similarities.
Goldenfrodo
I've spoken to Martin. He's sure that the found one is his dog, but he's been told that she's been reclaimed, although his girl is microchipped.

He's naturally very upset and is trying to find out who'se got her but the pound have been most unhelpful to him. Can people in the Bristol area please keep a look out for Martins dog. Thanks xx
Goldenfrodo
Thanks for all your help xx I'll contact owner again today. Fingers crossed x

Last week when this dog went missing there was 3 sightings on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday around 2 pm each day in a ladies back garden. Unfortunately the lady didn't realise the dog was lost and Martin was informed last Sunday night, He went straight to the area but there was no sign of her and she did not return on the Monday. Martin has been back to the area and has widened his search around the area every day and night and posted hundreds of posters, contacted police, vets, pounds and kennels. We now think that this dog has been stolen. If anyone has any information, advise or can help please contact the numbers above. Would there be any chance that this could be moved up the listing please. Thank you.

Martin got a call earlier to say there was a black dog running loose on the back road behind the training grounds, when he got there the dog was hiding under a car he pulled it out but it wasn't his dog. The dog he found is a young black male lab wearing a red collar and is very nervous, the monmouthshire dog warden has been called. Still no sightings or any news on his dog, he's been searching the area night and day.
kimbo
I have texted Martin where I have put up posters this afternoon. The Woodlands Tavern already had one a man there said he saw a black lab loose in the road when he stopped the dog ran off. I drove around when I left there ( around 4.15pm) but couldn't see any sign. Also out this morning but no sightings.
michbram
Martin has searched last night and today still no joy. I have updated info as he is offering a reward for safe return. Have printed more posters and he will be going back to the area this evening again to search.
michbram
Thank you for your help Kimbo. I have printed a load of posters off now to replace the hand made ones that we done earlier and Martin is calling in for them on his way back down to look for her. Fingers crossed she is found this evening.
michbram
I've just added her Photograph. Martin has been out all day searching but no sign. He has spoken to a lot of people around the area. He is going back out to search this evening.
kimbo
I met with owner this afternoon to get poster to put up locally and he was also going to see local land owner whose fields back on to training area. I have spoken to quite a locals (Shirenewton)to spread the word and will continue doing so. Will walk again tomorrow around this area.
Goldenfrodo
Thanks for your help x As soon as we have a photo, email alerts can be sent out. Hope she stays safe until she can be found x
michbram
I have asked him to send me a photo of her and will update as soon as I can.
michbram
I have listed this for a friend of mine, he has informed police, contacted vets, knocked doors around the area and we have now done posters. He has left her bed and his jacket in the location she went missing and has been back there looking for her all day yesterday, last night and has gone back now with friends. He has taken manhole covers up and there is no sign of her anywhere. Please if anyone sees her or has any information please contact one of the numbers. She is microchipped.

Sorry to see that ROSIE is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
