Blacky is with me as Josephine is away today, she will be collecting him this evening. He's ok, very tired, on the thin side and very foot sore with a few cuts on his leg and shoulder but he's had a small meal, is now asleep on one of my dog's beds and is going to the vets later this afternoon. Thank you to everyone who helped searched for him and to all who followed his story. Welcome back Blacky, maybe we can all have a good night's sleep now.
Suziewoo

Oh Wow! He's been found! So pleased, thank goodness , in time ahead of this weekend's fireworks. Please give him a big hug from me :)
VickiP
Yes - Josephine could you give us a little more detail about Blacky? Should we approach him if seen? Or would that scare him? Is he 'safe' to try and grab should we get close enough? I don't want to jeopardise his safety.

Having followed lost greys on doglost I have noticed they do tend to lie up during the day and sightings are normally late evenings and night. Come on Blacky it's time to go home to your bed or sofa. Might be worth posting on any local retired greyhound forums that he is lost.Last edited: 2013-11-08 08:19:33 by Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer

Is Blacky okay with other dogs? If I was to walk mine while looking for him would he be more likely to show himself (mine are both very friendly)? Any suggestions on where best to go? I could do the woods opposite Loch Fyne, Ascot Racecourse, Windsor Great Park? Is he foody? Does he respond to squeaky toys, name calling? Really want to help.
Bran TheGrey
So super to see so much help and support on here in the search for Blacky, just wished we lived nearer to help out too. Good luck and do so hope Blacky is home safe and sound soon.
SISGB
There are a couple of building sites in the area- might be worth asking the builders to keep an eye out- thats the sort of place he'll be able to find shelter overnight.
SISGB
I looked in the Fernbank and Rhododendron Walk area yesterday without any luck :( but hopefully this means he is staying near to houses for food and shelterLast edited: 2013-11-07 18:21:42 by SISGB

Josephine- has he got a favourite squeaky toy? If so walk around squeaking it as well as calling him- might help. Good luck.
Katiep
He is obviously staying local and coming out at night. I wondered if he was a foodie? If he is, maybe lighting a portable BBQ and cooking sausages where he was last sighted might bring him out. There is a pub in this spot, might be worth asking them to keep an eye out and popping some food out at night. These may be silly ideas but may be worth a try.
coxy55
Have just phoned Mill Ride Golf & Country Club. They will keep a look out for him and need to get a poster to them asap. If no one can get there before I'll go tomorrow afternoon, as got kennel shift to do in the morning.
Josephine Hack-Adams
Dear All, thank you so much for looking out for Blacky. Just to say that someone rang me last nigh to say that he had been seen on Tuesday night in the NEW ROAD/FERNBANK ROAD/KING EDWARD's ROAD area of North Ascot. I'm going to drive around a bit there now.
SISGB
I'm worried that he's in the Great Park too- its so vast
coxy55
I've emailed the Crown Estate office attaching the link to Blacky's page as I'm at work and can't do a lot else. Have also printed off and laminated some more posters.
Katiep
Does anyone know how to contact the crown estate? The wardens are always on the move around the estate?
coxy55
He could even have wondered as far as Windsor Great Park, which is such a vast area. I guess there's the Maidens Green area, where Stirrups is. Think it's just a question of letting as many people as possible know about him now as there hasn't been any new sightings. Please Blacky where are you, we all so desperately want you home.
Katiep
Have searched the woods opposite loch Fyne along to Winkfield road roundabouts And back again but in sign. Any suggestions what else I can do?
VickiP
No sign in Hayley Green woods, just muntjak and squirrels. I told several people. I have just emailed James the Estate Manager at Warfield Park (the large park homes site spanning east from Hayley Woods and across to Chavey Down/Winkfield) the poster asking him to alert his grounds staff and if possible place the posters around the park.
SISGB
I wandered the woodland opposite loch fyne yesterday, calling his name without success- its a large area though. I also searched stables, building sites, old sheds etc anywhere where I thought he might have taken shelter- along new road, kennel ride, hatchet lane, woodside, windsor- ascot road, lodge lane and lovett lane, and retraced a route close to the place he was lost. the weather was foul so he was probably sheltering somewhere; perhaps now its not so bad, he will venture out and be seen again. Will try again today.

My printer isn't working so can't print off posters. Will keep searching though.
Katiep
I also wondered if anyone had looked in the woodland opposite Loch Fyne as he was sighted on the ascot to windsor road. This land goes along to the Winkfield road roundabouts. If I have time I will search there too.
Katiep
I live in Hayley Green so I can print off posters and put up round Hayley Green woods, Westmorland Park.does anyone know if the Brockhill Stables have been asked to keep a look out, he could be in stables keeping warm? Will have a good search today. Weather forecast dry so he may come out. Will update later.
VickiP
Ok I'm going to walk mine around Hayley Green Woods and Westmoorland Park which is between Winkfield Row and Tesco. I keep my horse at Hayley Green so seem to be in his familiar area. I'm afraid I don't have a printer at home but will pass the message on verbally.
coxy55
Josephine is unable to access site at present but she normally walks Blacky down Cricketer's Lane, down to Tescos through a little park, along Gibbs Close (not 100% certain of name but just off road towards Binfield) and up and around the stables opposite the t-junction of Bracknell Road and Winkfield Row. I wondered if he would start looking for food now and may be hanging around pubs/restaurants trying to look in bins? Josephine unable to get on here until this evening. I'm at work till early afternoon. Will get some more posters printed off but if anyone is able to get some done and put up it would be very much appreciated. Thank you to everyone offering help and support.
Unknown
Thanks everyone.
SISGB
Good idea. It was chucking it down during today's search, so he was more than likely sheltering somewhere, even if we were looking in the right area. As many posters as possible might prompt more sightings too.
coxy55
Have sent owner a text to ask her to post some suggestions on here. Hope to get some more posters up locally. I know some searching was done today in Blacky's local area but he could still be there somewhere, maybe trying to find his way home. Thank you to everyone who has offered help.Last edited: 2013-11-06 21:22:43 by coxy55

Any advice where I could walk tomorrow to try and sight this boy? Does anyone who knows him know which walks he is used to? Perhaps he'll stay in a familiar area?
Richard
Will keep an eye out for him in binfield hope he comes home soon
Katiep
I had a drive round this morning and his afternoon but no sightings. I saw a few posters. Was going to ask where it would be best to search next.

Nat
Hi, I will drive that way on my way home from work hopefully before it is dark.
Suziewoo
It doesn't say on here that alerts have been sent out - I'm sure they must have been but please could someone confirm this? Many thanks x
Clare
Has anyone put any posters up yet. Im afraid my printers packed up at the moment but if anyone locally has any im happy to collect and put some up tommorrow.
SISGB
Will help search tomorrow., starting in the kennel Ride area, and spreading out from there. I remember Blacky from Greyhound Lifeline.
coxy55
Josephine has looked around the Kennel Ride / New Road area this evening but also in the dark. I hope to try the Hatchet Lane area as well tomorrow hopefully. There are some people on Facebook offering to help. Unfortunately I am unavailable tomorrow morning.Last edited: 2013-11-05 20:51:50 by coxy55
