- Other Info This dog was hit by a car on the Harpenden/Redbourn road this evening at about 7.25pm. He was running from Redbourn or from the Nicky Line - think he was spooked by fireworks. I picked him up off the road and took him to vet in Harpenden. He had a red collar but I don't think they could find a microchip on him. He's broken some legs and has lost lots of blood. He is a type of Lurcher.

- So so sad, RIP Shilo, you are in a better place now xxx
- 2013-11-09 09:01 Unknown
- Clare. I agree with all you say, it is morally wrong to have abandoned him in his hour of need. UNCARING, SELFISH, AND HARD HEARTED SO CALLED OWNERS.
- 2013-11-08 22:24 Clare
- Janiejewel i dont think its a criminal offence to be a selfish uncaring heartless moron. Maybe just morally it is. I hope the so called owners can live with the decision that they made to abandon this beautiful boy.
- 2013-11-08 21:02 mandyskis
- Run free beautiful Shilo, no more pain just lots of love from the amazing people on dog lost. (((Shilo xxx)))
- 2013-11-08 12:11 Unknown
- LennyBoy. As much as we are all horrified about Shilo, and his so called selfish, uncaring owners, I am not sure that they have actually broken the law. Perhaps someone who has some legal knowledge may know better. Yoiu can see by my posts what I think about his so called owners: others too. I hope they dont own another animal too. May they never find peace.
- 2013-11-08 10:54 LennyBoy
- Wot a terribly sad ending for such a luvly boy. Does anyone know if these so-called owners have any other pets in their possession?? That would worry me about the standard of care they would show towards them, possibly a visit from RSPCA wouldn't go amiss to ensure the safety and care of any other poor souls with these scum bags?? They should be banned from keeping animals.
- 2013-11-08 09:09 ClaireC
- Very sorry to read this sad news but in the end the vets who took the time, trouble, care and devotion to helping any animal in distress have taken the right decision. RIP beautiful boy free of pain but surrounded in love xx
- 2013-11-08 07:37 Unknown
- Carol. Hope he has a good send off too. Willing to donate too.
- 2013-11-08 02:08 Carol

- 2013-11-08 02:05 Carol
- Ditto paula Griffins Mum and janie jewel1649 , and may the owners rot in hell after being run over and and ignored and abandoned , don't care if I am pinked xxx
- 2013-11-07 22:53 Esther
- I one hundred percent agree with you janiejewel
- 2013-11-07 20:23 Unknown
- Shilo: I have lit a candle for you. To those who abandoned you in your hour of need. "Hang your heads ins shame" As for punishment for cruelty to an animal or a child for that matter, the courts are far too lenient. In my opinion the so called owners of Shilo should have a life ban on keeping any animal in my opinion. RIP+ Shilo in your forever home.

- Another sad victim of our throwaway society, Bless you Shilo and run free with all your new chums at Rainbow Bridge xxx
- 2013-11-07 17:40 dekkaann
- Not the first from this area to suffer like this,
I don't know what the answer is to stop cruelty
like this.
Just grateful his pain was eased and he was cared for
at the end. - 2013-11-07 16:32 Unknown
- DITTO from me too Paula Griffin`s mum. What I would like to say about Shilo`s so called owners would not be printable either. It`s comforting to know that he did have care, and affection at the end, and the vet did all he could. As for his so called owners: "What goes around comes around" I too will be lighting a special candle for Shilo. Run free sweetheart. RIP+
- 2013-11-07 14:26 Nanni Byron
- DITTO!! Paula Griffins mum.
- 2013-11-07 13:51 Paula Griffin's Mum
- One more request, come on Karma do your thing... may the low lifes that don't deserve to be called Shilo's owners never ever know peace, don't know how they sleep at night, SHAME ON YOU - SO ANGRY, I'd be pinked if I expressed my full feelings...
- 2013-11-07 13:47 Paula Griffin's Mum
- So very sad, i saw this early very early this morning on a FB thread & saw that his owners would not be re-claiming him, we also offered to donate towards his care, it makes me so so sad, have they no conscience, we’re not made of money, far from it, but we’d rather sell our souls than abandon our boy. What a lovely name, I had asked on the FB thread what his name is, but so far have not heard… RIP sweet boy Shilo, we will like a candle for you tonight God bless xx
- 2013-11-07 13:29 Clare
- R.I.P beautiful boy. Glad you had love and care for the last few days. Shame on your owners. Karma is a wonderful thing.

- Hi all. Just a brief message to update you on the saluki boy involved in the RTA. The beautiful boy was put to sleep last night. His injuries to his pelvis and legs were just too severe and even with specialist treatment it would have been unlikely that he would have had a good quality pain free life after.
We have total confidence in the vet and their decision and wish to stress that the vets have had the best interests of the dog at heart all the time. - 2013-11-06 23:26 digbysmum
- Will willingly donate. Fingers crossed for a positive decision from the vets in the morning xxx
- 2013-11-06 23:08 Carol
- Am happy to donate , wow what sick owners xxxx
- 2013-11-06 22:28 Unknown
- We need to wait until Rachel hears from the vet tomorrow. I have been told (on very good authority) that the vet is one of the good guys, so thank God for that.
- 2013-11-06 21:54 debbie
- If he can be treated I can give a donation too poor poor boy x
- 2013-11-06 21:15 Unknown
- Ps. People like these should be banned from keepoing any animal
- 2013-11-06 21:07 Unknown
- Am appalled with the owners of this poor dog needed his owners they turned away. It seems to me that thay could not have any love for him at all. When your pet is injured or sick you you should do all you can to help them recover, not abandon them. I am also willing donate. At least he is being looked after, and is in a safe place. To the people who abandoned him in his hour of need. "What if you ever suffer these awful injuries, and your loved ones, those you trusted just walked away, and left you" How would you feel? Think on. Sending Get well Soonx Gentle (HUG)

- Happy to donate or do anything to help. Believe I know of a potential loving forever home too
- 2013-11-06 20:30 duffs54
- Poor thing, do we know his name?
Happy to donate as well, I hope he pulls through xxx - 2013-11-06 19:59 rachelhayball
- A decision is being made about this lad by a team of vets either this evening or tomorrow morning. His injuries are severe and the vets will make the right decision in the best interests of the dog. He does have rescue back up if they are able to treat him. Will update tomorrow.
- 2013-11-06 19:37 Splopjam
- I haven't got a lot of money but happy to help out too as I can't bear the thought of an innocent animal being abandoned by the people he trusted to look after him.
- 2013-11-06 19:33 Sherlock Bones Police Liaison Co-ordinator
- lots of facebook posts saying this dog's owners have been found but he's now signed over to the vet who has rescue back up. Nik - see post on doglost.co.uk fb page.

- Poor fella..... words fail me, praying he will be ok .. x
- 2013-11-06 19:03 Unknown
- I've put his little chap back to Found as he clearly has not been reunited. I'm going to enlist the help of the Review with this one.
- 2013-11-06 18:51 Clare
- I will donate. Shame on the owners abandoning him when he needs them. Poor boy x
- 2013-11-06 18:48 Bo
- I have just been in contact with Rachel and she will update us on the dogs condition after she's spoken to his vet in the morning.

- 2013-11-06 17:26 Bo
- How much is his treatment? Can we find out? I'm happy to donate towards it.
- 2013-11-06 15:33 dekkaann
- I was offered a dog from this area, not this one
but on the same lines. If he came from the same source
I am not surprised they will not pay.
These dogs must go through hell when fireworks are about.
Hope a sensible decision is made for this poor lad. - 2013-11-06 14:43 blackbeard2
- That is so terribly sad, these lovely dogs we all have give their love to us unconditionally, now this poor boy needs the help and love of his owners? How could you do such a thing, poor boy. If its for financial reasons could an organisation like the blue cross help?
- 2013-11-06 14:41 Robbie55ww
- Owners like this don't deserve pets, this boy needs all the love and care he can get to help him through this nightmare.
All the owners can do is turn their backs on him and walk away.......what a disgrace to the human race. - 2013-11-06 14:30 digbysmum
- Oh no, how awful. What a dilemma for the vets. Can't bear thinking about it - poor, poor boy xx
- 2013-11-06 13:56 rachelhayball
- Sadly the owners are not paying for treatment and do not want him back. He has a badly broken leg and pelvis and the vets are currently deciding on the best way forward.
- 2013-11-06 13:10 mathers22
- Fantastic news - if he has to lose a leg he will be fine one of mine lost a leg through cancer many years ago xx
- 2013-11-06 12:59 Unknown
- So happy to see the owners have come forward. Am sure he will recover now that his owners are around. Sorry he may have to have a leg amputated. It will be har d for the family I know, but I believe they can cope quite well with three legs. A friend of mine recently saw a Springer running really fast, and was amazed to see it had only three legs. Get Well Soon sweetheart. Sending comforting (((HUGS))) to the owners too.
- 2013-11-06 11:06 Angus
- owners located & rescue help offered as backup so moving to blue x- fingers crossed for this fella
- 2013-11-06 09:33 Jackalee (Kathryn) - Area Co-ordinator - Greater Manchester
- Just spotted this on a post on FB, no seen confirmation from the person who has rang them??
The owner has contacted the vet, this is copied from another post
Lozzas Lurcher Just spoken to the vet and the owner has rung and so therefore all should be fine now, however have left my details just in case the owner doesnt turn up etc as the vet is talking about possible amputation, poor boy - 2013-11-06 07:32 Unknown
- Sorry to see this. Sending this poor lad absent healing for a full recovery. Hope an owner comes forward. Come on you can do it. We are all rooting for you. All xd.
- 2013-11-06 01:09 JaneJDyfedZoo
- Hope the owners can be found, sharing across FB - good luck for this doggie xx
