Hi, so sorry Rosa is still missing, just to say I am still checking various posts & fb pages for her x
alikat
Sarah, a female Border was found in Eynsford yesterday, reference 95872. Should be taken for scanning today..... could it be Rosa? Have texted Sarah suggesting she looks at this page.
Nigel Ongley
Yes don't give up I'm always still checking up here and keeping a look out
alikat
Hi Sarah. Just wanted to draw your attention to the amazing story of Archie, the Border Terrier that has just been returned to his owners FOUR AND A HALF YEARS after going missing. His Doglist I.D. is 26168. He is an entire male so - as could happen with Rosa - he has probably been used for breeding. He was finally reunited via his microchip, so the message is NEVER GIVE UP! xx
alikat
We're all still here Sarah, hoping for good news one day. x
Sarah Buckley
Thank you 'me n my girl' for phoning the house today and speaking to my daughter. Its so lovely that everyone is still looking out for Rosa!
Much appreciated x
Sarah Buckley
ID 87954 doesn't look like Rosa but I will check it out. Does anyone know if the dog definitely isn't micro chipped? Rosa was, so I do hope that this will beep up if she was scanned. Sarah

Oh dear, what a shame for you - sorry to have got your hopes up - but great news for the little dog. I also took the liberty of sharing Rosa's link on the "lost and found" page so lots of Border Terrier people will be aware of her too. xx
Sarah Buckley
Hi,

Thank you for your message, I took a look and wow does it look like Rosa but I telephoned the number advertised and the dog was reunited with its owner tonight. Good news for the poor little thing. Poor Rosa x
alikat
Sarah, might this be Rosa? Doglost I.D. 83308. Found near Bolton, but that doesn't mean anything. She was scanned and no chip was found, but I remember you saying Rosa's chip had migrated..... worth a look. This girl is in very safe hands at the moment with a BT owner. x
sophiesuds
Dartmoorview dog rescue have a lovely red border terrier who looks like rosa but she's called Roxy. Please check her out as she looks as though she's had a rough time of it too.
alikat
A very long shot Sarah, but one of the dogs under ref 76484 has a red collar on. I just wondered if it could possibly be Rosa and a friend, dumped or escaped from wherever they have been.......
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Just to say there is a lovely story of Pippi the border who went missing around the same time as Rosa has just been reunited 11 months later. Fabulous! Rosa's turn now.

Any other news ?
alikat
Sarah, Jayne at Head Office advises that you should call the number on the listing and see if they have a photo, or email them one of Rosa. x
Sarah Buckley
Notice there is a Border Terrier found in Wales. Long shot but anyone got any more details about her?
Debbie
hi sarah & alikat Im still looking for rosa too, & thinking of you sarah, keep your thoughts out to her debs x
alikat
Hi Sarah. Don't get disheartened as you can also see in the reunited pages the number of dogs of all kinds that are found months after they go missing. There have been a few Border Terriers, but mostly "up north" where the breed is more common. One listed today that is quite near to me, so I'll try to get some posters out tomorrow. Probably have to drive as, although it's somewhere we have walked, it's too far for Megan in her present condition.
Sarah Buckley
Well there is not a day that goes by when I don't look on Doglost for poor little Rosa. Still not one sign of her! Its funny really how not many Border Terriers get lost or found. Its very rare to see one listed.
Thank you everyone for your support. Still praying for a miracle!
Sarah Buckley
Hi Alison, thank you for your message. I have looked at the Border Terrier, ref 66720, and it doesn't look like Rosa at all, although it is hard to see when you cannot even see the face of the dog! But having said that, the body does not resemble Rosa.

Thank you for your help, I hope Megans op goes well. Lots of love x
alikat
Hi Sarah, I know it's a very long way away, but Border Terrier bitch found in north east, ref 66720. It says no chip but that might be because it's "migrated". Worth a phone call? Hope you are all well. Megan's heart op is now booked for the end of May so on quite restricted exercise until then. x

Found 15/3 small female light brown terrier Hastings TN35 (33 miles away) "animalwardens"lostandfound ref 333528, no picture.
Debbie
the little dog we were looking at sarah has now been taken off their site.
i'm sure rosa will turn up just like that!
DogLostMax - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
Found ref 65960 looks very similar. Spoke to Rosa's owner to have a look at the photo.
alikat
I think this is one I looked at last week. No gender, no scanning, and then this comes out. How can they find the owner of this dog if they are not giving the right information? So sorry Sarah - just another bit of that emotional roller-coaster. We're not giving up though.... xx
Sarah Buckley
Sorry everyone, can you believe just called the pound again and after 6 days of having the dog there they have suddenly announced that the dog is a Male!!!!!!
I can't believe it!
The search is still on..........

Hi Debbie. Well unfortunately I'm in Surrey, so just as long a journey! It would be no good my going on my own as I have never seen Rosa - only been involved in the search. I would be happy to go up with Sarah - or take my car and do the driving (I'm a retired professional driver, so the distance doesn't bother me) - but unfortunately I would need some help with the petrol. I do know someone who lives near Sunderland, and I might be able to ask her to have a look, but she would need to speak directly to Sarah and have some more photos etc. I don't know if any of the other followers on this page might live up that way? If so, maybe they could help. Maybe Admin would have some contacts in the North East who could help? If you want to contact me, my mobile number is 07968 255747.Last edited: 2014-03-12 17:02:54 by alikat

Hi alikat,we need some help please? theres a huge possibility it is rosa, i was hoping that if there was any one who would be able to go and see for sarah as she's worried as to weather it is 100% or not? there are too many signs it is but needs more accuracy in detail before making a long journey.
im going to speak with the kennels now & go through a few things sarah & I went thru last night, as its difficult with her job to catch them when they're there. will get back soon as debs x
Debbie
have sent txt to owner to see if she has any news? debs x
alikat
It certainly looks very like Rosa. Got everything crossed for you Sarah. x
Debbie
Have spoken with the owner and informed her to check on stray aid ref ED51313 php.?id=2150 she's seen the pic I sent and said she's going to ring them. Good Luck hope she's Rosa xxx debs x

Hi Sarah, I don't know how you feel about Animal Communicators, just that I have been following Aslan a missing GSD from Cowbeech in East Sussex & his owners have had an animal communicator visit... did seem quite interesting what she said... obviously there is a bit of mixed feelings about such things, but just felt I wanted to mention it to you, incase it is something that may be of use... praying for Rosa & so hoping she will be found one day soon ... x

Thank you so much for including Rosa in countryman weekly. It is reassuring that people are still looking out for her and I hope we still may find her one day!

Just wanted to say, I have been following Rosa's page, I am not local, but am keeping my eyes peeled for her whilst scouring different animal & online selling websites....

advertised in todays Countrymans Weekly Magazine - I hope it brings some news
Sarah Buckley
That's such good news! What a clever little Megan. Well deserved.
Hope to see you both again soon Alison. I will never forget how much you helped me with our search for Rosa. You were amazing. Thank you.
alikat
I know this isn't really the place, but several people involved in the search for Rosa will have met my little Border Terrier, Megan. I just wanted to let you know that she has now passed her P.A.T. dog assessment with flying colours.
JuTucker
Hi Sarah, so sorry to see that Rosa hasn't come home yet, but there are many stories with happy results, so fingers are still crossed. Hope all is ok with you, stay strong. X
alikat
Hi Sarah, don't lose heart - have a read of "Bumble", ID 56563 - just reunited with her owner after going missing in August 2013! xx
alikat
Hi, a dog's pregnancy is 9 weeks, i.e. 63 days. If she was just coming into season it is possible that she might be giving birth about now, but they don't normally ovulate until 14th day of their season. It would be a massive coincidence for someone to have taken her to Co. Durham and had her mated almost immediately. However, I'm very surprised these puppies are being advertised before they're even born, that's very unusual because the breeder wouldn't even know if there were going to be any healthy puppies for sale. KC registration.... from what I remember puppies can't be registered until a certain age, so breeders often promise to send the registration papers on, but they don't always materialise. I can only suggest you ask the breeder for the KC registered names of the bitch and the stud dog, so you can check them with the Kennel Club. Might save you a very long journey. xx
mayjul
I hadn't thought of that either. I just looked and I think they are pregnant for a couple of months, but that was just a google search. I do so hope that you find her soon xx
Sarah Buckley
Thinking about it, Rosa has been missing about 70 days! Not sure it can be possible for her to be having puppies this quickly.
Sarah Buckley
Thank you mayjul. Rosa wasn't spayed by the way. This dog does look like Rosa! But I'm beginning to realise that a lot of Border Terriers look like Rosa. Its County Durham! A long way to drive. I will get the rest of the family to look later.
mayjul
Hi I have been following Rosas search and am so hoping that you will find her soon.
This is a total long shot but on gumtree there are puppies due soon for sale and mum is so similar to Rosa that I felt I should put a comment on here. Rosa could be speyed however. It does say puppies will be KC registered, which again I don't think it would state as they wouldn't have the ppwk, but I just couldn't rest if I didn't post a comment on here.
It says Border terrier puppies due soon, County Durham, posted 13days ago.
It probably isn't her, but it would be wonderful it was x
Julia Thornton
I haven't checked in for an update for a bit, and sad to hear no new news on Rosa, and another false sighting to deal with. That building plot in Redwell Lane was open and being worked on during the day, LAST week it must have been. suggest you put a load of the laminates on their front hoardings if they're not open when you go there next. still keeping my eyes peeled for Rosa for you Sarah. hope these positive news stories from everyone else about their missing dogs has helped to lift your, and your family's, spirits. If you have a new design of laminated posters, feel free to plaster my garden fence. take care and chin up. JTx
Sarah Buckley
Hi, thank you. Gosh, this dog really looks like Rosa but Rosa has more black fur on her. Rosa has very black ears, black around the eyes and snout and generally more around the body. Its so difficult!!! just had everyone in the family looking and we don't think its her. Thanks for letting me know.

Sarah I still keep looking at the DW sites and other found pages and hope I'll spot Rosa one day.
Sarah Buckley
Hi Rene, wow I can't imagine how hard it must be for you! What is Misty doing, where is she sleeping. It is amazing how dogs can survive. I really do hope that she is spotted again soon and that she is home with you again. Thank you for all your support xx
Rene
Hi Sarah im Rene,Bobs wife,Misty has been sighted a number of times since she went missing and she has travelled no more than a 10mile radius from where she went missing and its only by chance that she gets sighted so dont give up on Rosa. We get despondent at times when things go quiet but then there is another sighting and the search for her starts again. She has been missing 16months now and it shows that she is surviving out there but we still hope that one day we will have her home with us again. Good luck in your search for Rosa we are thinking of you as we know how you are feeling xx
Niki
sarah dont give up hope- i used to get very despondent especially at night but bloodymindedness takes over and you say tomorrows another day and you look all over again. I will never give up looking for my other one tess and you will never give up looking for rosa lo
Sarah Buckley
Bob, how far from where you lost him has he been spotted now?
Sarah Buckley
Bob its amazing that your dog has been spotted after over a year!!! I really do hope that Misty is found soon and brought back to you. I have everything crossed for you.
Sarah Buckley
Need to replenish posters!!! Got loads printed off and laminated. That is my job this weekend.
Sarah Buckley
We didn't ever get access to the plot down the road, no. But to be honest I really feel if she was running around free someone would have seen her or she would have made her way home, surely! I will pop down there today.
I've got to that stage where I can't believe she is just running around somewhere. How can she be really, surely someone would have spotted her!
Thank you everyone.
alikat
Sarah, as Bob says, you musn't lose faith. How amazing that his dog has been spotted for over a year and has just been seen. All you can do is keep the posters fresh and keep to your usual walking routine. Of course you need to keep checking all the various missing/found dog sites but don't give up hope. By the way, did you ever get access to that building plot down the road? xx
Bob
Hi Sarah, Don't lose faith, keep positive, we tend to get a bit doubtful when it all goes quite. our Misty (43310) has been on the run for over a year ( Lost 18/09/12 ) and been no sightings since Early December then today a guy who saw her last winter came into my works and said he had seen her yesterday and today! Admin have bumped her up to the top of the list and then I spotted another dog that has been missing for about three years and that has been spotted again! so keep on looking, Good luck Bob and Rene xx
Sarah Buckley
Everything's gone so quiet! Don't think Rosa's coming home.....
Still think about her every day, still look for her... Miss her so much!
alikat
What a shame, but as you say it shows people are still looking at your posters. Don't lose heart, we're all still keeping everything crossed Rosa will be home soon. x
Sarah Buckley
Another false alarm I think. Just got a call from a resident on Ismays road to say that was probably her dog! Oh well, it just goes to show that my posters are still working.
Sarah Buckley
Possible sighting of a Border Terrier on Ismays Road quite close to the Nursery last week! Just had a call from a man who works locally who was delivering on Ismays last week. He only realised today when seeing one of our posters that this could be Rosa. She was apparently very scruffy and very friendly but when he approached the dog it became scared and ran off! Could this be Rosa? My husband and I are printing posters and heading to Ismays right now to leaflet drop through every door.
Julia Thornton
the info I emailed you last night is now posted on this site too. search the dog lost ID no: 63092
alikat
That is a shame but, as you say, some happy reunions for other dog owners. I just had a thought re the dog in Cheshire... if it is Rosa, then the "well fed" look could be puppies? Has that little one been scanned yet, or do you have more details?
Sarah Buckley
Thank you Julia. What a shame, was really hoping she was one of them! So pleased for all the owners of those other poor dogs. There will be some happy people today. Thank you again Julia for all your support. Will keep hoping x
Julia Thornton
I've just seen the list on their face book page. no mention of any border terriers I'm afraid. I'll copy the facebook post onto an email to you Sarah. JTx
Sarah Buckley
Just seen this thank you. Don't know who to ask!
alikat
Hi Sarah, something else that may be interesting. If you look at lost dog 59305 - Frostie, JRT - you will see that Kent Police have just raided a farm in Iwade and there are a number of dogs there believed to be stolen. It seems Doglost are working with the police, so it may be worth following up? x
Sarah Buckley
Looked at the Border Terrier in Cheshire. Has all the right colourings etc of Rosa but with the 'well fed' look. Not sure. I have contacted Cheshire West stray dogs and someone is supposed to be getting back to me with more details about the dog. I feel that I have to follow it up as you never know!
Sarah Buckley
Alikat, just sent Jennys number to your mobile phone
alikat
Just had a look at the one in Cheshire - trouble is the site doesn't say if the dogs have been scanned or not. If it is Rosa, she's obviously been very well fed!
Charlotte Watson
Hi Sarah there is a bitch on Cheshire west stray dogs photo page .might be worth a look x
alikat
Hi Sarah, another owner of a missing dog (Jax, Schnauzer, missing since September) has asked for Jenny's phone number so they can try tracking Jax. Could I ask you to either post it on here or text it to me when you have a moment? Many thanks.
JuTucker
Hi Sarah. Every time I drive that road, I look out for Rosa. So sorry this wasn't her.
Judith x
alikat
So sorry for the disappointment, Sarah, and also sorry I was out walking and wouldn't have been able to get there in time even if I had seen this. As you say, your posters are still out there, and people are still aware and looking out for Rosa. Amazing that the dog's owners just let him run free, and it must make you wonder about the other "sightings" too. They are so lucky their dog hasn't been taken if he happily jumps into anyone's car - or run over for that matter. Don't give up hope of finding Rosa. xx
Sarah Buckley
Sorry for the false alarm everybody! And thank you so much Julia for your help. Typical this happened when my husband has just gone away to Cork for the weekend!
Anyway, dashed there and within 10 minutes saw a dog who looks just like Rosa but half a size bigger. I stopped the car and called him and he came straight to me and tried to jump in my car. Turned out it he lived in the area and runs around free. I was shocked as it obviously goes across the A25 when it likes! Anyway this was all thanks to a lovely lady called Sarah who lives locally and who saw the dog run across the A25 in front of her. Obviously my posters are working and everyone knows about Rosa. That is very reassuring. Sarah x
Julia Thornton
FALSE ALARM. sadly. was certainly similar looking but bigger. lives locally and now back at his own home. it was nice to finally meet Sarah though.
Julia Thornton
STOP PRESS!!! Sarah just knocked on my door - someone has just phoned her with a possible sighting. a bedraggled looking border terrier spotted running across the A25 near the Crown Point Inn. it ran from south to north and was visible wearing a colour and tag. I'm going to go and meet her there shortly to have a look. if anyone else is around who could come and help us look too, we will be somewhere near here: (cut and paste this link into a webpage and look at the orange arrow. you can zoom in and out of the map too):

Hi Sarah, I've just read an amazing story on Hope Rescue's Facebook page about a dog called Chance who has just (today!!) been reunited with his owner after TEN YEARS!!! How? Because he had a microchip and, when the people who had stolen him dumped him because he was ill, he was scanned and is now safely home. Don't ever lose hope of finding Rosa. xx
Unknown
Thank you Julia. Things have gone very quiet. Still look for Rosa every time we go out walking, still trying to refresh posters etc. Really wish we knew what had happened to her. The house is very quiet without her.
Julia Thornton
Hi Sarah. sorry I took so long to put up the new posters - I was house sitting over Xmas & New year, and every time I popped home it was chucking it down and I didn't want them to get damaged before they'd even gone up. but they're all up now, although already looking a bit soggy - except for the laminated ones. this flippin' weather!!
I was SO hoping to hear some positive news on here when I logged on. but don't give up hope. Come on Rosa - show yourself!
Happy (?) new year to you and your family. JTx
Niki
neither of them were microchipped sarah its a classic case of it will never happen to me,a hard lesson to learn, i haunted every site i could think of from ireland to scotland to the far southwest, made myself lists and visited all of them once a week,my friends thought i was barking mad! good luck from me and bumble will be thinking of you xxxx
Sarah Buckley
That is amazing you found Bumble, fingers crossed you will find Tess soon too. Was Bumble microchipped?
I really hope that Rosa is also found one day, I have a feeling shes been picked up and taken. There is not a day that goes by when I'm looking for her or searching sites to find her. Thank you Niki x
Niki
Bumble the border and tess the patterdale went missing off our farm last july we established that they werent in ground and reckoned they had been picked up since then i have haunted rescue sites and dogwardens and literally found her by chance just b4 she was due to go to a new family!now i just have to find the other one!!xxxxxxxx
Sarah Buckley
Hi Niki, thanks for that. Hope you don't mind me asking but what happened? Did you lose 2 Border terriers then? Would love to know more about your story.
Border Terrier in Oxfordshire wasn't Rosa, it was a boy! Hey ho!
Niki
dont give up hope yet sarah mine was found ninety miles from home after six months now i just have to find the other one thinking of you xxxxxxxxxx
Sarah Buckley
Far away though! And it doesn't say whether it is a boy or girl. Unlikely to be rosa but it really looks like her. Trouble is I've learnt over the last 7 weeks how 'alike' all border terrier can be, so I went be getting my hopes up
alikat
Wow Sarah! A bit bedraggled but does look very much like your photos - you always said Rosa's ears were darker than Megan's. Probably worth a look - or just get someone to scan 62550 for a microchip, which it seems hasn't been done yet.
Sarah Buckley
Can anyone help. Dog found in Oxfordshire ref 62550 really looks like Rosa! Are there any more details or pictures I can see. Thank you. Sarah
twoDs
Still looking for her on the various sites,so hope she's home soon
Sarah Buckley
No other reported sightings since the people at No 41 thought they saw Rosa two weeks ago. We have been out every day looking for her. We have left out food, dragged chickens around the area and back to our house to entice her home, left scent out for her and put up and replaced posters in the area. We still will never be certain if that was Rosa who they saw near no. 41 but I guess we will never know!
alikat
Always good news when a dog is reunited.... but what news of Rosa, or the reported sightings near No. 41? Have you managed to get access to that building site yet?
Sarah Buckley
The dog found in Amersham is not Rosa. The owner has claimed her. Great News.
Sarah Buckley
I've left a message. It could be her but cant see her face properly. Sarah

Don't think it's Rosa - but have to post,found Amersham 24th Dec http://www.lostdogsuk.co.uk/assets/dog-reports/1388075129/30-0.SDK-ICS68875.pdf

Poor you Sarah, I'm sure it was a very strange Christmas Day without Rosa. However, don't give up hope. You've heard other stories of dogs turning up safe and well after a much longer time, so I'm sure Rosa will be found. Maybe now many of your neighbours will be at home more than usual someone will spot her in the area. x
Sarah Buckley
Whole family been out today looking for rosa around local woods again and Ismays. No sign still. It started to pour with rain, we all got soaked! A very sad Christmas day, if only we knew what had happened to her.
Sarah Buckley
DM, Please can you contact me on either of my numbers when you get a minute. Thank you
Nigel Ongley
Have been placing more posters around the area and also repairing existing ones where i can as the bad weather has ruined a few sadly.
Timmy's Mummy
Have you tried Dark Hill Farm? His name is Keith, a really nice guy. His estate is quite extensive. Some people in Ightham are too scared to go on the property but he will not mind. The estate runs from opposite the garden centre all the way down the back of the new houses on Borough Green Road. He has dogs of his own who live outside so this could be an attraction to Rosa. I am constantly thinking of where to look. Oh what about around the landfill site and you could put posters up there on the gates? xx
Sarah Buckley
Thank you everyone for your help. I am going to check on that dog tomorrow morning to put my mind at rest.

Sorry it wasn't Rosa, still keep checking all the sites and hoping Rosa will be home soon

Oh what a shame, but maybe it's the other little one that you were trying to catch over at Leybourne, so it's nice to know she's safe. So sorry to hear about your injuries, Di, I know how much ribs can hurt as I've had a few of them! Any progress with that building site? Obviously with your injuries it's going to be harder to find a way in, but I would certainly ignore the warnings of CCTV - I didn't spot any cameras! Maybe a strong helper to lever the fence/gates up at the bottom so someone can wriggle through?
Sarah Buckley
Hi , Sarah`s Husband Di here , @ Timmy`s Mummy I went around that path you mentioned and dropped leaflets everywhere , spoke to the owner of a small farm /small holding who was really helpful he is going to keep an eye out. I am keeping going, walked over 10 miles yesterday circling and traversing a route based around possible sightings , beagle dog smell interest sites (if you know what I mean)and known areas of foxholes , sandpits etc, walking during the day and night too. Managed to fall down into the sandpit late tuesday night whilst holding the other dog ,a torch and some "scent" ....ended up in a heap with twisted knee , bashed ribs and "scent" all over me ...Oh and it was raining too!
InspectorGadget
Leybourne here. It was immediately apparent late last night that the dog brought in here was not Rosa, we have spoken to Brian this morning who is in contact with Sarah. She is welcome to look at the dog (which is not in our care at the centre) to put her mind at rest and we understand arrangements are being made for this.
Sarah Buckley
Just spoken to Brian @ RSPCA not dog at Leybourne is not Rosa :(
Sarah Buckley
Spoken to Dog warden. No details on the dog as yet. Apparently the dog is at the RSPCS leybourne. Trying to find out more! No direct number for them!.......

That looks worth a try.... of course it could be the other Border from Leybourne, but at least it's not too far to go. Fingers crossed for Sarah and family. x

I'm going to check out the small holding in Ightham tomorrow with my husband. Was on my own today and didn't want to walk there alone.
Sarah Buckley
Walked around the local area again today. Still nothing! Where is she?
Timmy's Mummy
If you walk pass the small holding (it will be on your left) don't back track, keep going, eventually you will come to another small holding. You will hear dogs barking as the people there always have loads of dogs, have a look in there. The people that live there are 'known' to the RSPCA, I am being diplomatic in what I am saying about them. Take a poster in to them and then you can have a look around. Then keep going and it will bring you back into Ightham. Its like a round robin walk. I just have a feeling that because of the smells Rosa might be around there. xxLast edited: 2013-12-19 14:51:18 by Timmy's Mummy

I keep looking at that building site on Redwell and thinking the same thing! I will try and take a look tomorrow or at least see if there is a telephone number on the board there that I can ring so that I can try and get access.
What a night tonight, my daughter is re-cooperating from her op, another daughter is burning up and not feeling well and Di took a tumble in the woods tonight and has twisted his knee going down a bank whilst looking for Rosa. Hopefully tomorrow everyone in this house will be feeling better! x
Julia Thornton
Good job Alikat! you certainly covered the most relevant ground and I think your comment about that building site in Redwell lane is a good one - have you looked into that Sarah?
Thanks for the multiple poster delivery that I found on my door mat this PM!! I will refresh my garden fence and car posters tomorrow. Hope your Daughter is ok.
Come on Rosa - show yourself, so we can track you down and get you home for Xmas. x
Sarah Buckley
Hi, just back from the hospital where I have been since 7.30am with my daughter lucy. Thank you everyone for your help. Thank you Alikat for coming this way today, I am so grateful.
I am home all day tomorrow. I can't leave my daughter at all but my mum will come over and take care of her whilst I go out on a couple of quick searches. Thinking of trying to locate the barn that Timmys mummy told me about. And also check an area on the other side of Ismays which is full of fox holes and very quiet. A perfect place for Rosa to hide. Judith Tucker came there with me yesterday and it is well worth a few more visits.
Nigel Ongley
Just done a load of posters ready for Rosa and will replace the ones of Imps I placed at various locations around the Sevenoaks area. Will also do some searches at the weekend if she is still not located.Maybe if poss setup a facebook page for everyone to get together? Or a general lost animal one for the sevenoaks area so we can search and locate for future cases?
binnie dodge
hi sarah, we are still wishing rosa home for christmas. as we take imps posters down we are going to replace them with posters of rosa, just dont give up hope, me and my family will be looking every chance we get and imp will be joining us as soon as he's fit. xxx

Just to confirm, I went to Ightham this morning and walked all around the wood via the path by no. 39. I also walked right round the block Sandy Lane/Ismays Road/Redwell Lane. I have suggested to Sarah that it might be worth getting access to the building plot in Redwell Lane which appears to be abandoned. A nice, dry, safe place for a little dog to hide? I think it's likely that Rosa is resting up during the day and coming out when it's quieter. There are so many places where she could be hiding it would be impossible to check them all, so we have to hope she will come out and allow herself to be caught. One other thought, when Rosa first went missing, Sarah thought she might have just come into season. That was four weeks ago, so there is a chance she may have found a mate a couple of weeks ago, and could be due to whelp in seven weeks time.... Although it's a bit soon to be "nesting", maybe she has found a suitable den - we just have to find out where it is! I'm afraid I won't be able to come out again before the New Year due to family commitments, but I really hope to see some good news on this page.Last edited: 2013-12-18 17:00:22 by alikat

Thanks Julia that's a very useful map. I'll be on my way over to Ightham in the next half hour, will park at the entrance and walk up to 39/41, and then see what happens. Should be there between 10.30 and 11.00, traffic permitting. If anyone else is there I'm the one with a little blue car and a Border Terrier!
Sarah Buckley
Julia thank you so much for helping. Overwhelmed by everyone's kindness and support. Couldn't do this without you all x
Sarah Buckley
Timmys mummy, I have checked out the farm building on Google earth and see where it is. We will check this out as soon as we can. Thank you for your help. Sarah
Sarah Buckley
Alikat, thank you so much for your help. We are concentrating on Nutfields in ightham, the local wood which is reached via Sandy lane or common road or beside number 39 Nutfields. Also concentrating on ismays road and surrounding area. Park on right as you come into nutfields. So grateful for your help.
Julia Thornton
all those able to search, here is a link to a map showing the area where Rosa went missing (see the orange arrow). you should be able to zoom in and out using the tools on the right of the page to get your bearings, but nearest postcode for the entrance to the woods from sandy lane is, I think, TN15 9BA.

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=559032&y=155475&z=115&sv=559032,155475&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=529&ax=559032&ay=155475&lm=0

You might have to copy and paste that URL line into an internet page yourself.
it's all country lanes around there, so park on road where you can in Ismays road, or go all the round to the entrance of Nutfields (off Redwell Lane, which is off Common Road) and there's space for parking near the entrance of the estate. good luck and let's all try and get Rosa home for Xmas too, like little Imp.
Nigel Ongley
A lot of us on facebook were assisting in the search for Imp and I would glady do what I can now to help find Rosa. Imp's facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Help-find-Imp/1417102018526810

I won't be around much tomorrow as one of my daughters is having an operation first thing so I will be in hospital most of the day. We will have to continue the search tomorrow evening.

Tackonagain, I don't have Facebook but my husband does. I will check with him what his facebook page is called and let you know. Thank you. Sarah
Sarah Buckley
Hi, got a call at 10.30pm last night from a neighbour, 200 yards away, to say that he saw a dog running across the bank behind his garden which resembled Rosa. I checked with other people in the neighbourhood and it seems that no-one else's dog was out at that time (certainly not on their own running free anyway). He was certain it was Rosa and we ran from the house and arrived where he spotted the dog within 10 minutes. We searched until gone midnight, but nothing!
Today I spent all day walking around the area. I covered a lot of ground but saw no sign of Rosa. My husband and I then went out again tonight and scented from the area back to our house. We decided that if she was seen last night then maybe nigh time is when she comes out. We even dragged a chicken around to help her find her way home. I have also bought a kennel and put it under cover on the front doorstep so that if Rosa was to come home she can at least stay dry and warm. We didn't find her but we are staying positive. I feel that this sighting was a positive one and actually last week the window cleaner saw a dog that resembled Rosa outside the same house! I actually thought that maybe this was someone else's dog but now I wonder whether this may have been Rosa after all. Anyway I have to still hope it is her and not give up. In the meantime we will be keeping a constant eye again for her around the local area, concentrating on Nutfields, our local woods off Sandy Lane and Ismays Road.
Sarah

Hi, would be happy to help as and when I can ..... (spent the last 4 days doing what I could for Imp) ..do you have a facebook page where people can co-ordinate help?
alikat
Great news about Imp, now it's Rosa's turn. I'm hoping to go over to Igtham tomorrow with my Border Terrier to look around - I can access an Ordnance Survey map, and have a Kent street map, so could you possibly give more details - maybe with a suggestion of where I can park?
Timmy's Mummy
I remember Brian the RSPCA man as he is ex-army like us. When we lived in Ightham he used to visit us ref our rescue dog Timmy, I once gave Brian a lovely fish tank - this might jog his memory. Tell Brian that at the back of where we lived, up on the hill, was an old farm building/small holding, they bred rabbits and chickens there. I used to walk past it every day and twice I found lost dogs hiding there. I once even found a neglected donkey there and the RSPCA came and took it away. The place is very smelly and that's why I think that dogs find it. There are lots of hiding places there. There is a public right of way right passed this small holding. If you cant find the public footpath let me know and I will give you instructions on how to get there but it is very easy. I lived at 1 The Willows, Borough Green Road, Ightham and from my back windows I could see the small holding up on the hill, hope this helps. I now live in Oxfordshire away from all the blinking traffic speeding by which killed one of my dogs! I hope and pray that you find Rosa soon. xxx
Sarah Buckley
Thank you Julia. I can't believe the news about poor little Imp. I am keeping my eyes open for him too. What a nightmare. I do hope he is found soon. Sarah x
Julia Thornton
still keeping my eyes peeled for her, Sarah, and now for poor little Imp too (dog lost ID no. 61337) as he is lost near to where I walk my dogs every day. Please feel free to use my garden fence for coloured posters. x

Hi Alison, sorry I've not been around the last couple of days. There have been no sightings. Still trying to work out if the one last Monday was perhaps another dog! Today we received in the post a listening device which you use to place down fox holes. Di and I went to our local woods today and used it down every hole we could think of! We heard nothing I'm afraid. We still won't give up looking, there is nothing we can do but call for her very time we go out and carry on with posters. I pray that someone will find her or there will be a sighting but beyond that what else can we do?
Everyone has been so kind helping us. We are very grateful. Sarah
alikat
Wondering how things are going. Sarah please let me know if you need any more help. Have there been any more sightings?
Joanna Saunders
Hi Sarah,
My brother and I posted the new flyers around Nutfields, Sandy Lane houses at the woods entrance and along Ismays Road and down part of Redwell.
Coloured posters going up on the next day or so.
JuTucker
Sarah, if you need help I can come Friday and Saturday anytime and Sunday pm. Just let me know. I don't know the woods at Nutfield at all so would need to be shown the area to look. I feel strangely confident that this is your girl. Judith
Sarah Buckley
Jenny came today with Tiga and we walked for about 3 hours to see if we could get a scent. Tiga did definitely pick up something and took us to exactly the spot where the dog was seen on Monday.
I got a message a couple of hours ago unfortunately from someone who said they walk their dog every morning around Nutfields towards the woods and the dog is always off the lead. It is not a Border Terrier, but a cross breed, apparently a mix between a terrier, spaniel and a beagle. She said that it could have been mistaken for a Border Terrier. The dog was wearing a red collar though. I have asked if I can go around and see it. Who knows, is it Rosa? Isn't it Rosa? Very confusing and frustrating.
I've put a bed on the front doorstep with food in the hope that Rosa still may come home! Sarah
alikat
Exciting news! Praying for it to be Rosa, please let me know if you need any extra bodies to be "on watch". Alison x

Oh please let this be Rosa. Sarah, have you tried leaving food on the doorstep while you are out. At least you would know if this dog is visiting your house. everything is crossed for it to be Rosa. X
Joanna Saunders
On behalf of Sarah and Di:
*POSSIBLE SIGHTING - Monday 9th December, 10am*

At around 10am, Monday 9th December, a window cleaner saw a loose border terrier matching Rosa's description running around no. 41 Nutfields and the entrance of Nutfields Woods where she went missing. The dog had a white / beige collar on and there were no owners / visible dog walkers nearby.

There is a possibility this is Rosa as Sarah has suggested that it may have been going back home but as the family have always been out looking for her, they would have missed her should she have returned to the front door.

If it is not her, we need to rule the dog out so I have put on a new poster that if you think this was your dog you were walking at the time, please declare it.

I have printed out posters to send around the local houses both in Nutfields and along Ismays Road / Sandy Lane.
If you would like to help by printing out some posters to send around too, please let me know.

I absolutely think you are doing the right thing. If it's not her you can put it out of your mind and turn your attention back to Rosa without being side tracked. If it is her which I am hoping and praying it is then let the party begin. The fact no one has claimed her sounds positive and as we all know stranger things have happened than this with re united dogs in the past. Keeping everything crossed and saying a little prayer x

Sarah I think you are doing the right thing - I so desperately hope this is Rosa but you have to see her for yourself.
Sarah Buckley
I have decided to go and see the Border Terrier tomorrow in Coventry. I know I'm probably mad but I feel I have to go for my own sanity otherwise I will always wonder if it was Rosa or not. Apparently her time is up at the Pound on Wednesday and then she will be re-homed, so this is my only chance. Sarah
alikat
OK, Sarah, as long as you have someone with you that's good. I've also put on the Coventry dog's page a comment about neutering. It may be that the Border there has a scar on her tummy that would indicate she has been neutered, and there may also be signs that she is or has recently been in season. Wishing you luck. x

Thank you Jane, if I go to the woods again that would be great. I will be in touch. Sarah x

Thank you Alison, If I go I will have to go tomorrow but honestly I will be fine, my sister said she would come with me. I will let you know. I need to be almost certain it is her really. Thank you. I know it may be a good idea to travel there. I will decide over the next day or so.
Thank you.

Does this dog respond if her name is called? Stranger things have happened , you only need to log on to this sight to see the bizarre stories. I think I'm right in saying Barnaby's chip had migrated so it's not impossible that this could have happened to Rosa. I know it's a long journey but it may put your mind at rest. Please call if I can be of any help 07719528297

Hi, No nothing I am afraid. We have been searching in our local woods all weekend to see if there are any more holes that Rosa could be stuck down. My husband did find two holes that could be ones that Rosa went down but who knows if she is stuck down one or not? There is no sound coming from them and anyway she could be anywhere. Rosa has literally vanished. It's been nearly 3 weeks and there have been no positive sightings at all.

My three daughters are really missing her, with Christmas coming up it is very hard. Let's pray we hear something soon.

The hardest thing in the last couple of days is Dog Found ID 60982. She looks identical to Rosa and although she is showing up as having no chip I just don't know whether to travel to see her in the Pound near Coventry. We have seen videos of her and more photos and her mannerisms, markings, everything are almost identical to Rosa. But how can it be her - no micro chip, different collar!!
Anyway, hope we get some positive news of any kind this week. I am waiting for a Sound listening device to arrive on Tuesday which we can put down fox holes to listen. Hopefully this may come up with something. Sarah
Springer sharon
Any news? Hoping so much you are reunited soon
twoDs
Sarah have you seen Betty's thread? Another BT who went missing, not a single sighting until the day she was caught 5 1/2 weeks later, she was very thin but is fine now.I just hope Rosa will do the same, she will pop up one day (hopefully very soon) and you will be together again.I check the found BTs on FB and elsewhere but haven't come across any matches yet - the Bognor bitch is too old and as you have seen the Coventry one too young. One thing I would also add is don't rely on kennels/pounds/possible finder knowing the breed - it's surprising how many people don't - which is why I also check the Terrier cross posts.Certainly if you are contacting kennels I would describe her as a little brown dog as well as the breed Last edited: 2013-12-07 16:19:26 by twoDs

I have checked into the Border Terrier in Bognor. It isn't Rosa. The kennels that have her have called the dog Rose which I think has complicated things a bit, plus she isn't micro chipped. The other Border Terrier found in the Ansty canal near Coventry (60982) has really thrown us though! It really looks like Rosa but has no micro chip. I got them to take more pictures and they also sent me a video of her and even after seeing these it still looks like Rosa but we are not 100%. They say they think the dog is about 18 months old, Rosa is 5. So everything points to it not being her! But still, how will we ever know unless we go there! Its miles away for us. This is so hard...

Hi Sarah Was Rosa wearing the pink collar that she has on in the picture as the one found by Bognor Regis running down the road ppears to have a similar collar on as you can just see the end poking out and it looks pink.

Thanks Sharon for clarifying the Barnaby story. Border Terriers are extremely tough little dogs and now all we can do is sit tight and wait for a sighting.
Springer sharon
Sarah, please stay positive. Barnaby was not sighted at all until the day he was reunited. There was no sighting of him at all for 30 days and nights yet he is fine and suffered no harm. We were convinced every area of where he was missing had been covered yet somehow none of us spotted him. While there was talk of him down a hole it was really just a theory. Don't give up, stay positive

Hi Sarah. Easy to say I know, but don't give up hope just yet. I think you have done as much as you can at the moment and now it's a waiting and hoping game. Thinking of you and your family at this horrible time ,I lost and never found one of my borders 6 years ago ,it's terrible as there is no closure .but have followed your page ,You all have worked so hard .i pray she will turn up ,we had to dig one of my dogs out this spring ,the other one took me to the hole we didn't hear anything when calling her name but the other dogs were showing A lot of interest.we started digging l then Hurd her growl she was completely stuck ,but got her out.please don't give up hope .i so pray that you will find her (sadly I have a broken bone in my foot so I can't drive )other wise I would be there for you ,so much love to you and your family xxxxxxx

I know how you feel Sarah but don't completely give up. I've just reviewed Barnaby's page and there were no sightings of him at all for more than 10 days. The view was that he had probably got stuck in a hole and couldn't get out until he lost some weight. I appreciate it's difficult to go on searching without any clues, but you have smothered the local area with posters so now it's a waiting game - give you a bit of time to deal with family stuff and hopefully have a rest too. We're all ready to leap into action again when there is a sighting. Alison
Sarah Buckley
Thank you Jane, yes it has been a bit a nightmare year! It is very kind of you to do that for me, sorry I was not able to do anything yesterday.
The more I think about it, the more I am certain Rosa is stuck or dead down a hole in the Nutfields Woods. She would have come back to my husband and the fact that she didn't makes me think she is still where he lost her. What can I do, we have called down every hole in the woods and even had Dyno-rod out but honestly where is she otherwise. My gut feeling is that something has happened to her otherwise she would have come home. And now it is getting so cold!
I'm trying to stay positive but its getting hard now, it been 16 days! Sarah

Not sure about the hole in Oldbury. I will walk by it every day and call her name and see if I hear anything. Its a very awkward place for Dyno rod and to be honest if I was to call them every time I see a hole Rosa could be stuck in I would be calling them every day. Very hard. You have been amazing over the last few days helping me with my search for Rosa. I cannot thank you both enough, I will always appreciate your kindness and support. I will keep you up-to-date with any news whether good or bad. I have made some lovely new friends which is the one good thing that has come out of all of this so far. Thank you so much. Sarah x

Oh Sarah, what a roller-coaster of a day! Sorry to hear you've made no progress with the hole in Oldbury Woods - it certainly looked promising the way your other dog was digging and guarding it. You can't beat yourself up about the last four days - you did what you felt was right at the time. Hopefully after the time you spent in Oldbury Woods today, and the other dog owners you met, you will hear some better news. Do let me know if you need any more help. Alison x

Sarah, my apologies. Will leave this post now and best of luck in finding Rosa. Was just concerned that possibly you were spending days looking in the wrong area when Rosa could be somewhere completely different. Hence my asking about the details of the second dog.
Sarah Buckley
All these comments on my post are getting to me big time. Please would you stop posting things on here and arguing amongst each other, its not helping me and my family at all, thank you. My story is this:-
I got a call Friday night to say a Border Terrier was on the loose in Leybourne. Rosa was reported as the only Border Terrier to be missing in surrounding area so someone assumed it may be her and called me. We dashed there Friday night, searched for 2 hours but then went home. Returned Saturday (sighted her that day in the distance), returned Sunday and sighted her loads of times, in fact even nearly managed to catch her as I said. That was when I got such a close look that I was certain it was her! Returned Monday and today but no sighting on either of these days.
Meanwhile word is around that some people had also lost a dog in the same area. It was becoming like Chinese whispers to be honest as stories have been flying around everywhere, but on Sunday I really truly believed it was her so decided to continue searching yesterday and today.
However, whilst there today and after having searched for another couple of hours two men came in their car into the stables car park and came to talk to myself and two people who with me searching. It appears these men were the owners of the other 'missing' Border Terrier (finally showed up at last). After explaining to me that they lost their dog on Friday afternoon (it jumped out of their car on the bypass) I realised that possibly this is true. Their Border Terrier sounds like it is exactly the same size and colour as Rosa. I think I've been looking for someone else's dog for the last 4 days. Still at the back of mind I wonder if it is my Rosa but everything to me is now pointing towards the fact that maybe it is theirs after all. If only they had shown themselves on Saturday it would have saved us alot of heartache.
Anyway, strangely I then get a call from a lady in Ightham saying her dogs have been going mad over a rabbit hole in Oldbury Woods in Ightham. I dashed over their feeling nothing but guilt that I have been concentrating all my efforts these last few days on Leybourne when maybe Rosa is just stuck in a hole nearer home or lost nearer home! My other dog was VERY interested in the hole but we heard nothing at all. Brian from the RSPCA came to take a look. We will be keeping a constant eye on this hole now but obviously I am well aware that Rosa could be anywhere!
With regards to Leybourne, I will have to wait and see if this dog is caught! If it is I hope that it will be scanned and, if so, that scanning it will prove whether it is Rosa or not. Sarah

There is nothing offensive in trying to establish the details of the second missing dog. Yes you may be right in them not having internet, but most poeple would have got someone to put it on here. The dog warden for instance, or friends or family. I am not saying there is no second dog. I have never said there is no second dog. People are genuinely wanting to know some detail of the second dog, a photo, and circustances of it going missing, that is all. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Rosa's team have spent 13 odd days non stop searching for a dog that is possibly not theirs. I am sure they all would like to establish they are not wasting any time searching for the wrong dog in the wrong area. Anyway, they believe this is Rosa so really hoping they manage to get her some safely and swiftly.
JuTucker
I do wish everyone would stop trying to score points, and concentrate on doing something practical like searching.
twoDs
Some of these posts are becoming very offensive indeed.Perhaps the owner of the second dog doesn't have internet access, not everyone does you know. The fact they have not registered here on DL does not mean they have not genuinely lost a dog. This is a fairly large area, just because they haven't been spotted searching doesn't mean they aren't out there. If it was this dog who was chased a few days back - supposedly to move to a safer area, she will be even more disorientated now.I just hope both dogs are kept safe and no more attempts are made to move a dog by chasing it.
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Thank you CJ, I think all the questions arose because the 'other BT' has not been listed on here or the animal warden site. The search party for Rosa does not seem to have come across the owners of the other missing dog despite them having a pretty much non-stop presence in the area. There doesn't appear to be any posters up for the other dog, and I think people can see how hard Sarah and Co have been exhausting themselves to find a dog which possibly is not their own according to reports of a 2nd female border missing in exactly the same area.

The 'friend' bit must come from your post stating that the other owner knows the Dog Warden 'personally'.

It really would be helpful, if nothing else if the other owner could register on here the details of his lost dog. If it came to light that the Leybourne dog is not Rosa, then Sarah and Co could be focussing their efforts to find her in another area, rather than concentrating on this one.

Anyway wishing both dogs are found quickly.xx
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Must agree focus finding the dog

Howver please do not let the issue of this other border become a debate of others views on matters we do not fully know about.

The owner of this lost border has reported him to the dog warden plus the kennels where strays are taken. This is fact.

He and friends have searched for his dog and still are but they search at times when they feel they have more chance of finding her.

Any lost dog living rough will appear dirty. This border is a working terrier and missing 5 days food.

I spent an hour from 9-10am Saturday trying to catch this dog as it was on the road where the dog tribute was and on and off the fields and near the rabbit holes, it is very nervous with strangers, I went home to get some cat food to try and tempt the dog but I just couldn't get close it then went up the path to the bypass so I had to back off and waited long as possible but it didn't come back, I didn't want to frighten it as it was on the grass between the bypass and the field that it has been seen in so it would have probably run onto there if I had followed it any further. I then rang the rspca who couldn't help, they told me to call the police they couldn't help unless the dog was on the road, I said it was on and off the birling road but they gave me the councils number saying the dog warden would help, the man at the council told me that the dog warden wont come out unless the dog has been caught, bit worrying that the dog warden would not be concerned that a dog was running loose but the same dog warden is helping the poacher because he is his friend, not happy about that. I hope this dog is caught soon too.

I cannot comment on what was said to you by council but if this area is Tonbridge and Malling then I can say that the dog warden goes above and beyond with her job in order to catch loose dogs.

She would attend sightings when ever possible but remember dog wardens cover large areas and also have many other dogs to deal with.

It has never been said this person is her friend at all so where has that information come from??

It is someone the dogwarden is aware of in her line of work ( hence known personally for many years) and whoever they are her priority is to help any lost dog.

I am not in agreement by comments made on this dog warden and find them offensive.

This is the same dogwarden that spent hours at the scene yesterday together with helpers that were present.

This same dog warden visits kennels and reports back to me of found dogs to try and match with those on site.

This same dog warden often catches dogs and tries to reunite them direct with owners even when either not chipped or details are out of date using us or phoning around vets to gain more information. rather than take to kennels.

She is one of the best dogwardens I have the pleasure of working with so please do not make comments on her work.

Good luck for today Team Rosa xxx

I just want to focus of finding the dog. I am trying to put this 'other' dog out of my head and just concentrate on finding and hoping it is Rosa. If its not her, then so be it. If it is Rosa then all the effort we have all put into finding her will be worthwhile. Sarah
alikat
I was also there with Sarah and Judith for most of today, along with Jenny. Some interesting discussions, including one gem from the local Community policeman, who told us that - whenever travellers are found trespassing on private land - their excuse is always that they're looking for a lost dog. I think that puts it all in perspective. Just hoping Rosa will show herself again soon, and allow her loving owners to catch her and take her home where she belongs.
jane rawlings
i do not have the knowledge on whether the person 'unnamed' poacher obtained permission or not to go on the land, but i live in the immediate area and am aware of the rabbiting that regularly occurs with dogs in tow in a lot of the land around here. What matters is finding and catching the dog in question so that it can be identified to put the owners mind at rest, i am looking out for the dog too. i wish Sarah good luck and hope rosa soon turns up.
JuTucker
Sarah has spent the last 4 days, ALL DAY looking for Rosa. I was with her today, and we saw no sign of anyone else looking for a dog. Sarah, you could not do anymore than you are doing. Stay positive.
PuppyLove123
Poacher or not, there are 2 sets of people looking for a border terrier. I hope this 'poacher' is putting as much effort into finding the dog as Ms Buckley and her companions are. He's not registered the dog as missing which says enough in itself. And if it is not rosa, I hope the reason as to why the dog is so thin and dirty is investigated.
If the 'poacher' finds the dog first, I hope he declares it to the dog warden.
Sarah Buckley
I know that someone else is apparently looking for a Border Terrier in the same area as me but I'm not sure how much of this is true.I also must add that I am so sure it is Rosa and I am not giving up. Hopefully she will pop up and show herself tomorrow. I am ever hopeful!
Sarah Buckley
Hi, back from a whole day again at Leybourne looking for Rosa. Turned up at 8.30 with Jenny and we set up a trap down the far end of the field. Decided after an hour and half that we should move it back up the lane near the Riding stables and we sat and waited. Many people turned up to help, including Brian from the RSPCA and the Dog Warden for the area. Thank you to Peter my neighbour and to Alison and Judith. You were all amazing today, you put in so many hours of your own time and I am so grateful to you all for your support. Thank you also to Christine who lives in Leybourne who walked around constantly looking for Rosa. Unfortunately there were no sightings of Rosa today. But I'm not giving up. I will be back there at 8.30 tomorrow morning and I will search all day again.
DogLostOwl
Excuse me, but can we be careful about the description of "poacher" which is being used a lot. If someone goes rabbiting with landowner's permission then they are not poaching. I won't comment on your experience with the council when you made your report, I think this may be one for CJ.
jane rawlings

The border who belongs to the man (who the dog wardens knows personally) and he has had the dog 3 or 4 years.
PuppyLove123
This is a far fetched theory but perhaps this "poacher" and Sarah are infact looking for the same dog. It could be a coincidence but this so called "poacher" could be the same person that took Rosa in the first place and they are infact, looking for the same dog.
If this poachers dog went missing on Friday, why would it already be so thin and dirty?....indicates that this poacher is not looking after the dog properly if the dog running around the stables is truly theirs.
My speculation is pointless....I hope the dog is caught soon and it's identity is determined.
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Perhaps the other owner should register his dogs details on here and the animal wardens site etc, with a photo and it may become clearer which dog is at the sighting. Did they actually lose their dog near the stables? Either way both dogs need to be found. Best of luck for today people x
DogLostOwl
Thanks for clarifying, CJ. So we won't know which terrier this is until someone catches her. If this is not Rosa, she must be very similar considering how close her owners have been. Good luck everyone, hope she can be caught soon.
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
So are there definitely 2 female border terriers missing in the same area? 2 seperate owners?
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Just had a call from DW who is in this area of the sighted dog. She has confirmed that a female lost terrier is missing in this area. She has spoken to the owner and he is worried of her going onto the fast roads in this area. Dog warden is helping by looking for his dog
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
When a dog has been missing for a few days instinct kicks in and they tend to move around more at Dawn and dusk.
Where has the trap been put is it near the stables where this loose dog has been sighted?
If already baited she would more likely go in when hunting for food but also so will foxes in this area so will need to be checked then re baited if taken by another animal.

Also need to check out the possibility of the poachers dog as per posting pleasebepolite re another dog lost in this same area sightings have been made.
Have asked DW who knows this area and can find out much more than anyone else can.

I do hope this is Rosa but absolutely agree now it must be a slow and steady approach.Of course Sarah wants her home asap but she is obviously extremely frightened from the way she reacted to family members, having total strangers approach her will simply make her run - possibly into danger.Sarah you need to recharge, rest and just let Rosa lose her fear and accept you.Borders are tough little dogs,as long as she is in a safe area she will be OK I'm sure.

Sarah...you have some great helpers there leave it to them....the strain you are under will be noticed by Rosa and as such she wont recognise your voice just the exhaustion and stress that comes out...Its hard to hear this but trust us after 10 years of dealing with missing dogs...don't feel guilty about having some rest...you need it.
Sarah Buckley
I need rest. I have searched every day for 12 days. I am exhausted. I have totally neglected my kids and my house. It would be great to catch this dog tomorrow. I will try my best x

We have given up and gone home. Opinion of us and Jenny is that daylight is easier and when this dog is always seen. I am going back at 8.30am in the morning. Can't get there any earlier because of the 3 daughters
Sarah Buckley
Trying not to get my hopes up too much as this still may not be her.
Sarah Buckley
Thank you everyone. If this is Rosa, and I catch her, we will have a party to celebrate
Sarah Buckley
If Jenny and I stay in an area with trap and lie low, anyone else maybe could just walk around spotting. Could that work. At least then if people see here they can just watch from afar and see which way she is coming, that way giving Jenny and I some warning to stay quite and try and trap her.
alikat
Sarah, I WILL be there at the stables - probably by about 10.15 - 10.30 (let rush hour and school run traffic go first so leave Dorking at 9 a.m. If you would like me to come earlier, i.e. before rush hour, to get there at 7.30 or something, just text me this evening. Even if I need to stay out of the way, it will be some support for you. Praying she might come to you tonight. x
DogLostSpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Hi all, agree with Jayne here, that now you have a general location and are setting up a trap, the Doglost advice is the softly softly approach. Only the person manning the trap and the owners should be involved at this point. And that is also my experience too. Once all is quiet she will get brave and start to come to food and hopefully be tucked up at home infront of the fire very shortly and none the worse for her ordeal. I believe Jenny is there, plus the owners and that should suffice for now. I am sure this will be your best plan of action. Too many people involved at this point may well push her further away. I know how you feel that the more folk involved the better the chances of catching her, but that doesn't really work once you know where the dog is hiding out. Best of luck for tonight xxLast edited: 2013-12-01 17:57:14 by SpringerMad - Area Volunteer, East Sussex

LAtest:
I went back to Leybourne riding stables at 7.30am this morning. Spent one and a half hours searching again for Rosa, nothing. Then I got a call from Jenny to say someone had seen her over the far end from where I was standing. But she disappeared again. My husband, Di and two of my daughters joined me and we went off searching. Two friends joined us too and the lady, Christine, who spotted her earlier. My eldest daughter Emma suddenly spotted her hiding in a bush and tryed to go up to her. The dog darted out but Emma managed to touch her. Half an hour later Emma spotted her again and flushed her out of the bush in my direction. I was standing with my other daughter and two other people. The dog ran in our direction and ran right through us all. I had such a close look at her and I am 99% certain it is my Rosa. She looked me in the eye and I swear it was her. What a failure that we didnt catch her. Why is it so hard to catch her? Aaargh!
Ive left my husband there with Jenny and Brian from the RSPCA. I have taken my daughters home and I am going to warm up a bit and go back. We will stay tonight for as long as we can but then I will have to return in the morning, without my husband cos he has to go to work.
Is there anyone out there who could come tomorrow to Leybourne to help me catch Rosa? I would be so grateful. I don't know for how long I can cope with this. I am losing the plot! Otherwise I think I will be on my own. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanking you all. Sarah

So glad you have sighted her. Sapphy, the white GSD last weekend was finally retrieved by her owners early in the morning - 4.00am they got there, had food about where she'd been seen and then she came to them, they used the advice DL gave about not facing her, throwing food in her direction and she finally came to them... so hope you get her back safely x

No luck I'm afraid Sarah. We started at the new housing development off the A20 and went through the fields up to the stables. We checked an old outbuilding in the field just in case. We also went up onto the private land (oops) that runs along behind the stables. We met a couple with 2 dogs who were aware of Rosa, so the word is out there and people are looking. If there is anywhere particular you want checked, let me know. Thinking of you. X

Good luck for today. I am told that the running about yesterday was to head the dog away from an unsafe direction back to the stables, and this was successful. You must be exhausted! At least now it looks like a waiting game. I do hope Sarah at least gets a look at her, it would be so encouraging.

Good morning! It looks as though you will have another Border to join your search today, but PLEASE let me know if you think Megan and I can be useful today. My only plans are writing Christmas cards and going for a walk, so that walk could easily be around Leybourne.... and the cards can wait! xx

That sounds promising Sarah. I know it's quite a distance but she could have travelled thro Oldbury woods, into hurst woods, across into Offham woods and down to Leybourne. I will go down later today, and walk round with my Border Terrier. If she is scared, perhaps she will come to a single person, rather than if there are a group. We can but try. Good luck. X

Ju, thank you for your message. I will have to check with the RSPCA tomorrow. But yes we think it MAY be Rosa, it definitely looks like a Border Terrier. Sarah
Sarah Buckley
Alikat, thank you again for your help today. You are so kind and we appreciate your help and support so much. You are a star x
Sarah Buckley
I am exhausted!
My husband and woke up this morning and had a phone call from someone who's friend was back at the Leybourne Grange Riding stables again early and saw the dog again. Numerous other people at the stables, tending to their horses, also saw the dog. I dashed down their with my daughter and was joined pretty quickly by Jenny and Tiga the tracker dog. We started walking around a field and, can you believe, suddenly saw the dog darting across the field right over the other side. I could only see her from a distance but it was definitely the right size and colour. It was very dirty. We couldn't run after her fast enough but Jenny (who may I add is miles fitter than me) chased after her and I went in the other direction with my daughter. Jenny caught up with the dog and got quite close to it but the dog was very scared and would not come to her.
My husband, Di, who was busy searching in the Ightham area just in case, joined us with some other friends, including Alikat who has a Border Terrier almost identical to Rosa. She was amazing and stuck with us for hours whilst we were searching for the dog again all over the fields around the riding stables. We haven't seen her again.
We spoke later to people at the stables who are all aware of our search for Rosa now and everyone is going to look out for her. Because Alikat had her Border Terrier with her everyone commented on the fact that the dog they saw was definitely a border terrier. So who knows! Its a long way from home but possible I guess!
Jenny did get quite close to the dog and she too said that it definitely looked like Rosa (I've shown her numerous photos) but looked very dirty and very skinny!. I could be Rosa, it probably won't be Rosa, but we have to keep trying to get a another sighting of her. If it's not Rosa then it is someones dog!
Di, Jenny and I stayed in the dark until 9pm and waited. We carried on searching, we put on another BBQ and cooked some sausages, we also set up a trap but nothing happened. I am going to go back there at 7.30am in the morning to see if she appears at the stables again early like she did this morning. All i want is to get a change to have a close look at this dog and I will then know in my heart if this is Rosa or not. Wish me luck. Sarah
JuTucker
Sarah, have you checked with the RSPCA at Leybourne as their centre is quite close to this area. If the lady who saw the terrier confirms it may be Rosa, I will take my BT to Birling road tomorrow. Could you let me know. Very best of luck, she's out there somewhere, keep positive.
Sarah Buckley
Just investigated possible sighting in Leybourne , near West Malling (about 8 miles away). A terrier like dog was seen scavenging near the stables on Birling Road , we arrived about 30 mins after the sighting and spent an hour and a half looking up and down the road and footpaths ,not easy in the pitch dark. We are trying to get a picture to the kind lady that called this in as our plans for the search tomorrow may alter depending. @ Alikat we will text you our plans...very kind of you to offer to help , please don`t feel obligated , long way to come !

sorry Sarah, I'm not around tomorrow to help with the search, but REALLY hope you find her or signs/sightings of her. GOOD LUCK. x

@Alikat, after the normal early morning scoot around the local woods we plan to cover fishponds and the area south of the A25 starting at about 11:00am , we talked to the owners of the private part of fishpond woods who have said we can search there which is great as she is more likely to be off the beaten track . We will stop for Lunch probably at the Padwell arms in Stone Street , later we may move to the Olbury side of the A25. We may drive to the lay-by on the Fishpond side of the A25 for approx 11:00. We have been advised not to leave a trail of our scent close to the main road hence the car . Will update in morning if change of plan / fingers crossed some news or sightings !

Alikat, if you would like to join us searching tomorrow that would be great thank you.
We have people coming here late morning to help. You are welcome to join us. Parking at the end as you come into Nutfields should be fine.

Well another day of searching. My husband and I set off to have another search around Old Lane area. We have knocked on doors and asked if we can search in peoples gardens (there are a lot of houses with acres of land so we felt it was important to cover these areas too). Everyone has been so helpful. We carried on up Copt Hall way and along the top and knocked on doors, handing out many more leaflets and posters. It seems that just about everyone in the area knows about Rosa, the support has been amazing. I concentrated in looking again all around the local area as Rosa has always come back to where she leaves us. I can't help but think she won't be far. On the other hand, of course, she possibly has been taken. We have put more posters up and have asked everyone we know to print out their own copies of the Missing poster and put them up where they live.
The Sevenoaks Chronicle did a piece on Rosa which you can on-line and Brian from the RSPCA has been in touch with constantly offering help and support. He has put more posters up for me everywhere, he has been amazing.
We have friends coming tomorrow to help us look again. Tomorrow we thought we would concentrate again on Oldbury Woods and Fishponds. We have to keep trying.

Are you planning to organise any searches this weekend? I would be happy to come along and help - can I park in Nutfields?

Forgot to add spoke with ton and malling DW this morning who knows this area and she was not aware of this missing dog. I think she is going near here today so will have a good search.

Also be a good idea to do all areas surrounding the point missing as only needs to wander into area of next council and comes under a different DW.

Can you also update microchip details on site so will link with halo scanner as police & dog wardens have these scanners

It would be a good idea to contact St Clare's estate as most of this area is owned by them ask for Martin he is head warden plus can advise others who worker there such as game keepers etc .
Take a photo to show plus ask when next shoot is as maybe beaters sending up the birds could flush her forward if in that area.
If in any of these locations would have a good supply of birds to keep her going.

I had a text message last night from someone saying a Border Terrier had been found on the A259 in Horsham. A long way from here. Was sent a picture, unfortunately it wasn't Rosa!
Sarah Buckley
Julia, thank you for your help and support. It is much appreciated. I am running out of posters so if you want more let me know. Our printer is playing up! I have just bought some squeaky toys as you suggested, although Rosa is not normally interested in them, but I will try anything. Her love is for Tennis Balls! She has one in her mouth at all times, they are like a dummy to her.
Sarah Buckley
Just to clarify that we asked Jenny to help us, she didn't contact me. I was given her name and number by a lady who called me to say that Jenny had helped her find their missing dog. Jenny didn't ask for payment. She voluntarily spent 7 hours of her own free time to help me.
We are trying to keep positive and are exploring every option open to us.

Please thank your husband for the poster - and sorry I had to shout at him from upstairs as I'd just got into the bath!! I'll put them up in the morning, and try and persuade my neighbour to let me put them up on her side of the fence too so we cover traffic coming both ways, especially as we are so close to the strong scent you picked up yesterday.
I saw the Clerk of Seal Parish Council this PM, and she suggests that you speak to the PCSO for Seal & Weald (as the boundaries are so close). her name is Sue Harwood and her email is 56355@kent.pnn.police.uk
also, I had to help find a run away dog today. I used the inside squeaky from a squeaky toy (the little plastic bit) and it had an instant result. I use them quite often to attract dogs attention when I'm walking them. it's a noise they love and find curious. if you don't have any, the 99p shop in Sevenoaks sell cheap squeaky toys that you can take a pair of scissors too....
keep positive and know that there are lots of us keeping an eye out for your Rosa too. JT

I also checked a sighting that someone told me a about in Oldbury Woods on the other side of the A25 on the day Rosa was lost. This was told to me by a women I bumped into in the woods. It turns out it was a Border Terrier belonging to a lady who lives right by the woods. She has two of them. At least I know that this wasn't Rosa.
What is upsetting for me is that there has been sighting of Rosa whatsoever. She has been missing for 8 days now!

Jenny's view after tracking Rosa all day yesterday was that she isn't too far from where we live. We followed a huge area but the scent was very strong close by down Common Road and into Old Lane so we are looking down there whenever we can. Last night when my husband got home from work we decided to get the BBQ out (Jenny's idea). We Put put some chicken and sausages on it and let it cook away all evening. We opened the back gate to allow Rosa to come into the garden if she wanted to. Jenny told us that if Rosa was not far the smell from the BBQ would entice her towards the house. No Rosa but we will definitely keep doing it! Anything to try and get her home. I also cooked a whole chicken, tied a piece of string around it and my husband walked down the road to an area where the scent was strong when Tiga the tracker dog was here. He dragged the chicken behind him as he walked and dragged it back. We made a very lovely cosy bed for Rosa on our front doorstep which I am keeping there in case she returns home. Fingers crossed!
On the other hand she has been snatched but I am doing all I can. I have put posters up everywhere and thanks to Brian from the RSPCA the local press have called me and a missing alert is going into all the local papers this week.
When I returned home from tracking yesterday there was a message on my answerphone from someone saying that he was very sorry to be the bearer of bad news but he thought he saw Rosa dead on the side of the road on the A25 from Seal to Ightham )at Seal Chart. My husband and I dashed there frantically only to find two separate dead foxes on the side of the road. Thankfully this is what the man had seen. Rosa's colouring is very much the same as a foxes so its an easy mistake to make. Actually two neighbours of mine had also seen the foxes and said to me that their hearts had skipped a jump as they thought it may have been Rosa.
Today I have been walking all around the local area again calling Rosa, still no sign at all. I have driven everywhere too, put more posters up in as many places as I can. I will continue searching again tomorrow.
Sarah

So sorry to hear there's still no sign of Rosa. You can take heart from stories such as that of the little Sheltie, stolen from Scotland in May this year, which turned up safe and well in Ashford, Kent, this week. Maybe no news is good news?

Been out with the Tracker dog today for 7 hours. Tracked all around area. Not found Rosa I'm afraid.

I do hope you have had some luck with the tracker dog today. Praying Rosa will be found very soon.

Sarah. Spoke to one of vets at pennards - they are all aware of Rosa missing but if you call karen at 7oaks branch, in addition they can add Rosa's photo, details etc. to Pennards facebook page. Jane

Jenny and Tiga the Tracker dog are coming tomorrow to help me try and track Rosa.

I am going to do one of the walks round Ightham Mote tomorrow morning, and will keep my eyes open for Rosa.

Julia, thank you for your kind message. That would be great if I could pop down and place a Poster on your fence. I will also pop some in your door. I will try and come to you sometime in the next couple of hours or so.

Sarah have you contacted the Estate Manager at Fairlawnes? He might pass on Rosa's details to the estate workers (the estate covers such a wide area). Jane

Sarah - as we are so close the boarder with Sevenoaks district, suggest you contact their dog warden too, although I think they do work closely together with TMBC. they may even be the same person for both districts. feel free to stick up a poster on my garden fence nearest the road (4 common road). and if you put a couple through my letter box, I'll put them in my car too. I walk dogs for a living, over nr Fawke Common, and drive the back lanes regularly. I'll keep my eye peeled for you tomorrow, and until she's found. Last edited: 2013-11-24 23:13:04 by Julia Thornton

Sarah, Brian has just called me... I'll call you tomorrow and discuss the next step. I wouldn't advise tracking. I don't believe this is a case in which it would help. You can't find a dog if it's been picked up by smell. If she's not in a hole then someone has her. I'm not totally familiar with the area so perhaps when you get a chance you can email me the exact location of Rosa's loss and lets work out a plan of action. Dee xx

I have contacted Viking Oaks too. They told me to call every day as sometimes Microchips don't work!!

I have spent my day putting up posters everywhere! In Shop fronts, on trees, in car parks, Sainsbury's in Sevenoaks, Seal, and Shipbourne. I have given them to the landlords of pubs everywhere too. You name it I have been there. No sign of Rosa.
My husband and eldest daughter have been back to the woods where we lost Rosa to dig down a hole they thought looked like it had collapsed. They practically disappeared down the hole themselves! Nothing. It is now dark and another day is done.
Di and I are back to work tomorrow. If the K9 Tracker lady calls me then that would be fantastic. My sister is coming to the house to house sit in case Rosa by some miracle comes home on her own. She will also go the woods and keep calling her name. This is so hard.

Hi again, As you know I met Sarah's husband on the "green" Ightham Mote estate walk. I couldn't find anywhere safe to park nearer to the common. My border certainly didn't hear or see anything unusual - she's usually quick to pick up on things. Your posters and fliers are everywhere, now we all pray Rosa will be found soon, safe and well. Alison xx

Hi Sarah
Hope the K9 Tracker lady helps you tomorrow.
Thought I put this on here yesterday but cant see my comment so will say again that although I am sure you would have...have you been in touch with Viking Oak Kennels on 7 mile lane as that is where she will be taken if found by authorities and obviously the dog warden ... thinking of you and big prayers for her to come home soon xxx clare
Sarah Buckley
Judith, thank you so much for coming so far today to try and help us look for Rosa. My husband Di said that he bumped into you. I am overwhelmed by everyone's kindness and generosity in helping us. I pray that we find her soon. Sarah x

I've just taken my BT and walked round the Nutfields area, and driven round the surrounding lanes. No luck I'm afraid. I don't know the area so couldn't really work out where she might be. Thinking of you and hoping she comes home soon. If it's any consolation Barnaby. BT from Devon was missing for 4 weeks. He had gone to ground, and it was only after the lost some weight that he got himself free. Don't give up hope. Judith

Thank you. I am driving around today putting more Missing posters up everywhere. I have my mobile if anyone needs me.
My husband Di is walking again with our other dog milly, this time to Fishponds off the A25 and Oldbury woods again. Later he will try Bitchet Green (another area nearby).Sarah

Just planning today's walk with my Border Terrier. Although I live near Dorking, I am planning to come over to Igtham Common to see what I can do to help. Maybe Rosa will come and see another Border if she is around? I should be in the area by midday. Have just texted Sarah.
Julia Thornton
I live in Common Road (no. 4), near the pub. I have posted this link on my Facebook page and tagged a few of my immediate neighbours to make them aware too. will keep my eyes and ears open for Rosa and wish you all the luck in the world.

5 days and still no sign of Rosa. My husband Diarmuid and I and our three daughters are devastated! We have been out all day today and, together with many helpers, we have covered miles between us all. We have handed out flyers and pinned out Missing posters everywhere and I will continue to do the same tomorrow. I have just been out again with one of my daughters to check the wood again where we lost Rosa on Tuesday. This is a ritual of ours. Still no sign, just silence! Where is she? Sarah.
Sarah Buckley
We live in the Ightham Common area, not Ightham Village, near the Harrow Pub. Thank you again, Sarah Bucley

Hello, we have been out dog searching, so have only just seen your comments. We lost Rosa in the TN15 9EA area. the woods are accessible from Sandy Lane which you should be able to locate, which backs onto Nutfields, which is an estate of houses. We are currently still looking and have a group of people who have headed off in all directions from that area, In case Rosa has gone further away. we are looking in areas such as Oldbury woods of the A25, Ightham mote, and Plaxtol areas. Please feel free to try looking anywhere you can. I am very grateful for your help. Thank you, Sarah Buckley
FrankieB
I'm a bit confused too, JuTucker & PKingswood. I think it may be Nutfields, the development on Common Road in Ightham. Accessible from the A227 (Ightham Road) down Ismays Road and from the A25 (Sevenoaks Road) down Copt Hall Road. The postcode for Nutfields is TN15 9EA.
JuTucker
can someone please give directions or a postcode for Nutfield Common. I live in Platt near Borough Green and would like to help look for Rosa., but do not know this location or area.
PKingswood
Not sure where nutfield common is but I can help tomorrow if still needed. Can someone give me a postcode that's close as not showing up on google maps

Another day has gone by and still no sign of Rosa! Mu husband and I have been everywhere in our local area looking for her today and my daughters have posted flyers through many doors surrounding our area. I have just come in from another walk into our local woods, all very quiet. I cant bear the fact that we have to get through another night with her gone!
We are all going out again to continue the search tomorrow. We have some friends all coming to help us. I am overwhelmed with peoples kindness to help. Fingers crossed that we find her. Sarah

Hi
Very sorry to hear your dog is missing. In August this year my parents lost my brothers dog and we registered on Doglost. The very same day a Doglost helper phoned me to say she had a tracker dog that could find our one on scent, even after several days, I think she was from snodland area. I hope she gets an alert and contacts you and in the meantime I will do my best to see if i can trace back and find her number for you. Maybe Head Office would know the lady I am referring to ??
Very best wishes to you and hope you find her soon. I will get back to you as soon as I can if I manage to find her number. Our dog was found later that night through her name tag on collar.

The RSPCA have been with me most of the day today as well as a man from Dyno-Rod ,all fantastic help. A camera was used to look down the holes for Rosa. After much searching we have come to a conclusion that Rosa may not be down there.
We will be continuing and expanding our search tomorrow all around the local area especially the places we normally walk. Thank you for all your support , means a lot. Sarah

Have you contacted the Fire Brigade. They will normally assist in this sort of situation. I can help search at the weekend if she has not returned by then. Judith
