- Conker missing for 2 years:- Missing: Conker
TWO YEARS TONIGHT CONKER WENT MISSING. I have been sitting all day reliving the events of this time two years ago and racking my brains as to what to post on here, but I am just lost for words. I cannot believe that we are now two years on and still Conker is not home. We all miss him as much today as we did in those early, frantic days. weeks, months of searching. I still continue to search, I am still being sent dogs to review, just in case it is Conker and remain as committed today as I did then to get my boy home. I do believe Conker is still out there and may just have been picked up. I have received information which has led me to believe that he could have been picked up after his last sighting in Hatford...maybe a blue car and taken to somewhere not too far from here. If anyone knows of, or has reason to believe that someone in their area has acquired a new dog who could possibly be Conker, then please, please let me know so I can investigate further. Conker's coat could now be long and matted or shorn back and therefore making him look quite different to his photographs.
Thank you to everyone who continues to follow Conker and to those who have provided me with the emotional support which was so desperately needed over the past two years.
Can I ask each and every one of you to lend your support to me and my boy and please SHARE THIS POST. Thank you. Last edited: 2015-11-23 12:39:46 by VetsGetScanning - 2015-11-18 15:01 cassiecat07

- Thanks Cassiecat07. I spoke to the lady last night who had found this dog....I had to wait until this morning to see if it was indeed Conker. - Sadly the sighting at Tubney has now been confirmed as a local Spanish Water Dog that got spooked whilst out running with their Daughter & ran home.
- 2014-09-13 10:30 Patti
- Nicola & I went over to Tubney & searched the local area & put up some posters, but sadly could not see any sign of Conker. We visited Frilford Heath Golf Club & they're going to put a poster in the club house. Volunteers will be postering the area this weekend, so hopefully this will promote more sightings. We're also looking for a location to erect the banner.

- Thanks sophiesuds. Have had look and you are right it looks a lot like Conker. Looks more Swd than poodle as advertised. Also looks like might have tail which Conker hasn't. It mentions good for stud dog so assuming this dog is entire. Conker has been castrated. I have not heard of this site before. I will keep an eye out on it in future. Thank you for letting me know. x

The picture looks very similar to cocker, doesn't give much details but it's in liphook so your neck of the woods. Would rather let you know than not, please check it out. - Have checked note on poster and unfortunately says seen jogging along the road in Fernham possibly two months ago. That would probably tie in with when he was seen in Fernham.
- 2014-07-01 00:47 Nicola Walters
- I received a message this evening on Conker's FB page that a note has been left on one of his posters in Stanford which says think Conker was seen around a fortnight ago in Fernham. Very feasible as this was where he had been seen in the early stages. I haven't been to check the poster out yet, but will do ASAP.

- Had a text late last night from the guy who saw Conker near his house in Stanford three weeks ago to say that his neighbour saw Conker in Stanford at 1700 yesterday (Friday 27th) in the same vicinity. Hopefully, by having a second sighting in the same place we may have established that this is now one of his routes. The guy in Stanford moved the feeding station last night to the small woods near his house to see if we can catch him on camera.
Thanks Dean, yes I do know Horse and Jockey and spoke to Anna a couple of weeks ago and she has kindly put Conker's poster up in the pub. You are quite right, H & J is only down the road from the quarry and tip. Thanks for the info.

Pop in if you havn't already and ask Anna (landlady) if you could put up a poster - tell her Dean who now lives in Spain sent you.. Good luck :)

- Thank you so much to Jenny and Tiga for the amazing amount of effort they put into tracking Conker. Thankfully we had a lovely evening to track. Slightly different to our tracking in the winter!! Jenny and Tiga put in a phenomenal amount of effort on Thursday In what was very difficult conditions due to the heat and the pollen count. We do believe though that Conker has probably been in the village and it was him that was spotted last Friday. There will be people at the Stanford in the Vale fete over the weekend handing out fliers to people so hopefully even more people will be looking out for him. It should bring in a crowd from the surrounding villages too. Once again, thank you Jenny and the lovely Tiga. x

- Jenny, how utterly devastating for Nicola, you and Tiga. Everybody has worked so hard to try and bring this boy home x

- Ok where do I start. Firstly although under the impression we could get into the quarry we were told we couldn't. Yes Brendan is still their and was very helpful and took some posters to give the drivers and those that sleep on site for when they walk round . We were told by the 'boss' that it was too dangerous to walk around and he couldn't give permission which was a shame but having said that Tiga didn't take us there. Tiga did however confirm that the recent sightings of Conker were Conker. After a late night or early morning Tiga and I continued this morning but it didn't go as well. We started by checking out another possible sighting and stumbled on a startled munkjack which bolted towards us and we had to dodge quickly. We then returned to the village to pick up on last night but sadly due to the local summer fair this weekend all the grass was cut including the footpaths out of the village because of a run as part of the fair and the road sides on the main road which quite clearly meant the scent had gone too. Tiga tried so hard but was beaten in the end by the heat and pulled to the shade and crashed out. After a rest for a little while he carried on but clearly was struggling and we had to call it a day which was gutting but at least we know Conker is alive and well and it would be good if he showed himself to the summer fair where I put a number of posters up on the green.

- Good luck when Tiga and Jenny arrive. He did fantastic work leading us to the barn where Dasher was sleeping so close to the M4 So hope you find him this time I am following all your posts on here and Facebook but don't always comment as you seem to have everything covered. If you need me you know my number.

- Please be careful Nicola, don't go alone. Wait for Tiga he will definitely sniff him out if he's there.
- 2014-06-11 13:30 Lin Iddon
- I have everything crossed for Conker's safe return and every confidence in Tiga. He did a brilliant job in tracking Smudge in January. We found Smudge the following morning at the place Tiga tracked to late the night before. My heart goes out to you x

- Have spoken to the guy at the quarry and has given me the heads up on how to get into quarry at night. I am also going to drop off handouts for the lorry drivers to have in their cabs. He has said lots of wildlife in there, ducks and rabbits etc. Noone there has mentioned that they have seen Conker though, but if travelling around at night hardly surprising.
- 2014-06-11 11:43 Nicola Walters
- Thank you Pheobe. I will ring this morning and see if I can get in tonight if Tiga tracks to there. Sounds like a lovely place to live….shame about the bloke….;) Nicola
- 2014-06-11 07:13 Phoebejoww
- My extensive knowledge of the inside of the quarry is due to the fact that I stayed in the on site caravan for a short period last year when I was homeless. I had a bit of a fling with the bloke who livedthere *dies of shame* I'm not in contact with him anymore, don't have his number but please do phone the office at the quarry and ask for help. Not sure if he's still there but the guy who lived there was called Brendan. Ask nicely if you could walk around there in the evening. It really is vast and quite beautiful.
- 2014-06-10 23:55 Nicola Walters
- Hi, would be really great if someone knows a contact there who they could speak to. I have spoken to the people at the tip and also the lady who keeps her horses on the field between the quarry and the industrial estate. Also have contacted some of the people on the industrial estate behind the quarry. It is now nearly midnight and have just got back from the quarry. Have walked all the fields, between the quarry and Shellingford woods, also the tip opposite the quarry and the track towards Hatford. Have Tiga the tracker dog hopefully arriving tomorrow to search the area too. There are massive banners on the Faringdon road near to Shellingford turning next to the quarry, so lorry drivers etc should be well aware of him. Most people we speak to already know about Conker due to banners, posters so hopefully the quarry are well aware of him, but it would be really good if Cara (?) could speak to her contacts please. Thank you very much. Nicola

- Good idea Phoebejoww...as you know them would you be able to do so Cara? ciao
- 2014-06-10 20:49 Phoebejoww
- Have you contacted the guys at Shellingford Quarry? One of them even lives on site. Plenty of shelter there, good supply of food (I've never seen so many hares in all my life!), lakes for fresh water. At night, it really is paradise there, especially on a sunny evening like this. If that's the area he's in I'd bet at least one member of staff knows more.

- Linda (Moore) Hi, Is it possible to bump Conker please due to the recent sightings? Many thanks Nicola
- 2014-06-09 15:28 Nicola Walters
- DELAYED INFORMATION ON SIGHTING: Whilst on late night search last night I came across couple walking their dog. I showed them a picture of Conker and the woman confirmed that she had seen him around a fortnight ago. You could have knocked me over with a feather....really?...I wasn't expecting that!! He was crossing the Wantage Road near the Stanford in the Vale tip on a Sunday morning around 10.30. He was heading from Stanford side towards Shellingford. This totally fits in with the sighting in Stanford on Friday evening and even more importantly the one in Shellingford late April. I so wish this lady had picked up the phone a fortnight ago because at that time I was desperate to get confirmation that he was still alive even.
Anyhow, as you can imagine I am trying desperately to keep the excitement at bay (we have a long way to go yet....we've been here before if you remember;) ), but I have this feeling that we may have just found his area. He has definitely moved outside of his normal area he had been travelling, so let's hope he has settled here as the Shellingford sighting was some six weeks ago now, which suggests he could be hanging out here.
The other really positive news is that I think Jenny and Tiga the tracker dog will be arriving this week to search the area. If he is staying around then I'm sure Tiga will sniff him out π
At this stage we are looking for any sightings from people that we can get. The same rules apply in that if anyone sees him please:
TRY TO GET PHOTO
DO NOT CHASE, CALL OR TRY TO CAPTURE HIM
CALL ME IMMEDIATELY ON 07900 214913 (PUT ME ON SPEED DIAL )
NOTE THE AREA HE TRAVELS IN
IF YOU CAN, FOLLOW WHERE HE GOES AT A DISCREET DISTANCE
Conker has survived for six and half months. The last thing we need is for him to be spooked and panicked onto a road, as this is probably his biggest danger at the moment if people try to catch him. Thank you for your understanding with this.
I'm trying hard to:
KEEP CALM
AND
GET CONKER HOME
πͺπΈ
- 2014-06-08 09:41 Nicola Walters
- 0030 AND JUST GOT IN: Sadly, no return sightings this evening, but have set up feeding station with camera, but reckon cat has probably already visited The dog was seen last night in Mawkes Close, but ran off towards Neville Road. From there, could have been heading in either the Church direction or towards Co op.
Thank you to everyone for all of your lovely comments and support. It is truly amazing that already the post has reached nearly 11,000. It really keeps me going knowing that you are all out there willing Conker home. I just wish he would give himself up now for all of our sakes and, not least, his own!!
A special thank you to sisters Judy and Joy who kept me company this evening and for their tireless efforts each day to help me get Conker home. They have been amazing…thank you
It looks as though you have all done a fab job in getting the word out to SIV residents in a short space of time and I will continue to poster the village tomorrow. Raising awareness in the village is the most important thing we can do to help get more sightings. We are in slightly new territory here and, although I know it appears that everyone I speak to knows about Conker, there are still people out there who will be unaware that he is missing.
I will keep you posted when/if there are any new developments. x - 2014-06-08 09:40 Nicola Walters
- WE THINK POSITIVE SIGHTING LAST NIGHT: Have just received a phone call to say that Conker was believed to have been sighted in Stanford in the Vale last night. The description was of a very matted, nervous dog, but who looked very thin and ran away when spotted. I will be going to set up a feeding station this evening to see if we can catch him on camera and get him feeding. If anyone is travelling in the Stanford/Shellingford area can you please keep an eye out for him. Maybe he is now getting a little more desperate as he was close to habitation rather than in a field or wood. Please share. Maybe just maybe........ X
- 2014-05-25 18:22 Nicola Walters
- Hello Alison. So sorry I have just read this. It is very kind of you to offer to contribute. We cannot set trap again yet as we have had no further positive sighting:(. I am sure I can get a trap back from doglost should the need become available. Once again, so sorry I haven't responded sooner. I was called out to identify a dog this morning in the next village but sadly not Conker, but one lucky dog who will be reunited with its owner. Thank you on once again.
- 2014-04-25 19:14 Alison
- Good to hear progress. How much would a fox trap cost for Conker ? I'm happy to contribute towards one if they are obtainable.
- 2014-04-24 05:03 Nicola Walters
- FOX TRAP REMOVED. Just to let everyone know that unfortunately the fox trap on Majors Road has been removed as Doglost required it back in order to possibly use to trap another dog that has gone missing near Swindon. Patti and I felt sad at removing it as it did feel a little like we were giving up on Conker. This is not true of course as we will continue to search for him until we find him! Thank you to everyone who continued to check the trap for me. It was a great help knowing that it was being continually monitored. Goodness knows what is going to happen to the local rat population now they don't have juicy turkey legs to feast on....they must have been in shock tonightπ. Let's hope though the little dog near Swindon is reunited with its owner quickly....I wouldn't wish five and a half months of this on anyone .
I will of course post as soon as there is anything to report on Conker. Walking through the middle of the rape fields with George and Hugo made me realise just how easily he will now be hidden. I couldn't see either of them when on the tracks and they were right next to me practically!!! Each season it would appear has its own kind of drawbacks.....
Once again, thank you to everyone who is sticking with me on our quest to get my lovely boy home. Hugo is fab, but he isn't a replacement for Conker and we still desperately want him back home with us, even though I'm not quite sure how I will cope with three stroppy boys.....it will be bedlam π. I will cross that particular bridge when I get to it though! Meanwhile the Conker reunite story is ....tbc..... xx - 2014-04-18 16:02 Patti
- CONKER'S STILL MISSING: The crop's getting higher & the bushes thicker, making it much harder for people to spot him while driving & walking. We've had a couple of possible sightings recently at Wicklesham on the Charney Kennels track, which we now believe could have been a local brown Cockapoo.
Everyone's still searching, thank you everyone for your efforts, it's so great to know that people are still out there looking. Nicola & I are still searchng, investigating, checking & baiting the trap several times a day (so far only capturing rats, a cat & a fox on camera)
We don't know where he could be now... possibly moved out of the search area we are currently looking or hiding very well. - 2014-03-31 18:20 Willow Dood
- Hi Nicola. If you need any help with searching for Conker, please let me know. We are in Chieveley, so not too far away. Hoping that he is home safe with you very soon. X

- This is sounding very positive indeed Nicola
- 2014-03-30 07:25 Nicola Walters
- ANOTHER POSSIBLE SIGHTING: A brown woolly dog was also seen around 10.30 this morning (Friday) by two ladies walking their dogs close to Charney Kennels. This was around the same sort of time as the previous sighting. Also, at around 12.30 midday there was a brown woolly dog seen running on Sand Hill towards Rogers Concrete. So already he may have moved over the road if this is him. If anyone should by any chance see him, a photograph with your mobile would be fantastic so that we can positively identify the dog.
Finally, we just may have some positive news and I have let out a little sigh of relief (well ok a big one :)) It has been a long and worrying 16 days (not to mention the 18 weeks!!!). Thank you everyone for your kind comments. Conker really does have a fantastic army of supporters. It is comforting to know that you are all behind us. xx - 2014-03-29 22:53 Sherlock- Area Co-ordinator & Police Liaison - Avon & South Gloucestersh

- POSSIBLE SIGHTING: Hoorah, Conker may have been sighted this morning at Wicklesham! A description of a matted brown dog was seen & ran away when approached towards Charney Kennels (they have been called & asked to keep an eye out).
Please keep your eyes open for him while out walking in this area today & call Nicola on 07900 214913 if seen.Last edited: 2014-03-29 11:20:38 by Patti - 2014-02-25 22:53 Nicola Walters
- POSSIBLE SIGHTING: I had message last night to say that the lady in question thinks she saw Conker last night crossing the 420 again close to the Longcot turning (just near to the speed camera). This is not very far from his sighting last Thursday on the 420 by McDonalds at Watchfield. We believe that he is basing himself around Longcot and travelling out from there. There was also confirmation today for the sighting around three weeks ago at Longcot. The lady didn't report it to us as we had already mentioned it. It is great to have all information as if there are multiple sightings in one area we can then be sure that it is him.
- 2014-02-23 16:47 Alison
- Yes, definitely, a lot of quiet support out here. Thanks to Memorial Hall office and Tracey at Friends - very supportive displaying posters. Has anyone spoken to Kidson Trigg (their offices face towards turbines off Highworth Road) and Watchfield School ? Anyway, lots of awareness raising conversations going on and eyes always on the look out. xx

- POSSIBLE SIGHTING. A dog was seen, possibly Conker, crossing the A420 at 2130 on Thursday evening from behind Mcdonalds towards the turbines direction. Patti has kindly re postered the area close to turbines along the Highworth Road. This sighting would tie in with the areas he has previously been sighted, particularly around the Longcot area. Thankfully a little closer to home than Cricklade!!!!
I had a lovely call in the week from the Police control room in Swindon to inform me that a dog had been sighted in Hannington, but unfortunately the description did not fit Conkers. Apparently, whilst the report was being made over the airwaves a senior police officer emailed and asked that it be checked that it was not Conker!!! How comforting and fantastic that the police know and are keeping him in mind too .
It's been a bit of an odd week this week after the Cricklade episode, but we can now get back on track with this new sighting:). I am sure the better weather will start to bring him out more again.
So....back to business as usual and any help searching, printing and putting up posters, passing out the flyers etc would be really, really appreciated. Spreading awareness is the most important thing we can do to keep his profile out there. I know a lot of you are very kindly out there looking and searching without me even knowing about it.
Thank you so much to everyone continuing to help me with this mammoth task of bringing my boy home where he belongs . xx - 2014-02-17 17:14 Nicola Walters

- I made myself ill whilst searching for my lost cat, it's all consuming and such a body blow when you think you've got a positive lead and it turns out not to be your beloved missing family member. I hope you can get a good night's sleep after all this, recharge your batteries for the next big push. Thinking of you xxx

- Feeding station was set up days ago within in a hour of the sighting!!! Why do people think they have to keep reminding me about feeding stations as if I don't already know?! Not one of them has worked yet! We caught this dog not with a feeding station in Cricklade but by everyone's sheer, brilliant hardwork. The locals were fantastic in providing sightings throughout the day and my army of volunteers were absolutely amazing. We spent all day tracking this dog and have not long been home from sorting out vet, pound, owner etc etc. It ended up with a lovely man in Cricklade High Street ringing me to tell me he had Conker locked in the White Lion car park. He was as gutted as me when I got there and it wasn't him. We can absolutely see why people thought it was Conker (altho a couple of little niggles in our minds) as he looked like a smaller replica of him. I was hoping for a happy ending, but not to be. I had been hoping to hand back to one very grateful owner, but looks like going back to original breeder in Leicester. I am exhausted, emotionally drained and fed up (as you can probably tell) but at least we have saved one little dog from being killed on the A419. So right then.....back to Conker. Thank you everyone who was involved today....you were all amazing. I cannot thank you enough. I am heartened by the fact that this little dog was out three months and survived...so every reason to think my boy will too. x

- SIGHTING UPDATE: Right this is going to be a bit surprising and not at all what we expected but.....had a call from a garage on A419 near to CRICKLADE!! that a dog has been hanging about there for the last week. The descriptions we have been getting lead us to believe that it could well be Conker. The dog is curly coated and very scruffy with lots of bits of debris hanging from him..... The guy was brilliant in that he managed to get a photo of him whilst he was hanging around forecourt, but it was very blurred and difficult to make out, but looking at shape and movement could well be him.
There have been sightings of the dog alongside the 419 . He has been reported to the Highways by a lorry driver and to the police by a female driver who saw him on the verge disappearing into hedgerow. The guy rang me yesterday morning as soon as he saw him and, as ever, we have been there searching and have put up food station. He found out about Conker from a friend in Swindon when he happened to mention about a dog hanging about his garage...so Facebook is really working in getting the word out there
Obviously this is a harder get due to the distance involved, but if anyone knows friends who live in the Castle Eaton area and villages between Shrivenham and there, please alert them. Also, if you or anyone you know travels the 419 regularly to keep a look out.
This is not ideal due to the nature of the road and distance , but have to remain positive in that it is 13 weeks today that he has been out and appears to have good road sense plus, when all said and done, it is possibly another sighting which we have been short of for the last couple of weeks.....now we probably know why!!!! I just pray we get this dog home safe and sound... and soon!!!! Thanks everyone. Nicola x - 2014-02-11 10:59 Reynard

- SIGHTING FRIDAY 31ST JANUARY: Just to let you know that Conker was seen this morning around 0700 outside the Co-op in Watchfield. He did actually approach a lady there, but got scared and ran off when someone came out of the Co-op…..isnt that just typical of him?! Apparently, he disappeared in the general direction of the business park. We did get out early and search for him but, as ever, there was no sight of him by the time we got there. Maybe the fields are so wet that he is now making his way into the villages. Hopefully, if that is the case, he may be showing himself a little more now…. we can but hope!

- It was so heartwarming to read your post, I am too far away to help, but wishing you all the luck in the world. I hope your lovely boy is back home soon.

- IMPORTANT NOTICE: I would just like to say a great big fat thank you to everyone for their help and support. It is knowing that everyone is behind Conker that keeps me going on days when it would be so easy to give in. For example, like today when George and I looking bedraggled are walking the fields for another day in the driving rain, dragging a cooked heart in a mesh bag and spraying my pee from a plastic bottle…I'm sure that conjurs up a lovely vision for you all;-) I dread to think what is eventually going to rock up in my back garden…LOL
I know that many of you are keen to help in an organised search for Conker. Whilst this would be lovely and it so kind of everyone to want to help in this way, we are very conscious that this is a key time in trying to trap Conker. In doing this I am trying to keep the area quiet and lay down mine and George's scent as much as possible and lots of people and dogs may help to destroy this. As Conker is so sensitive to people, we don't want him to feel 'hunted' in an area that he has become comfortable in and therefore push him away. The best chance we have of catching him is to let him remain comfortable in the area he has designated for himself.
All of the sightings, without exception, have been when people have been going about their daily business. It is absolutely fantastic and a real accolade to you all that everyone is remaining so vigilant whilst at the same time not pushing him away, which we know is a real danger. I just don't want to jeopardise that right now by getting us all together to search for him en masse. I think we just need to carry on doing what we have been doing so far as it appears to be working and we are getting more sightings in the last fortnight than we have done in the whole 11 weeks he has been missing.
I do hope you all understand. There is nothing I would like more than to meet Conker's army of supporters and thank you all personally for all your support, but right now we need to keep Conker's best interests at heart in order to bring him home safe and well.
If you haven't already please, please put this number in your phone 07900 214913 under CONKER and ring me ASAP should you happen to come across him.
THANK YOU once again. Nicola xx - 2014-01-30 13:35 Nicola Walters
- POSSIBLE SIGHTING: I received a message this morning to say that Conker may have been spotted on Mallins Lane on Sunday. I am trying to ascertain what time he was seen. The lady who posted the sighting tends her pony there and her young daughter saw him whilst they were in their car. They reversed to try and see him but, true to form, he disappeared into the hedgerow. So….it looks like Conker has been back in the Longcot area now for a couple of days. He was seen Thursday near The Dash and now Mallins Lane. Hopefully, he will soon make his way home. I am scenting from the sightings back to my home, so hopefully he will pick up mine and George's scent.
If anyone in the area has stables and outbuildings can you please check to see whether there are any signs of Conker having been there.
Please, let me know should you think you have seen Conker, because all possible sightings will help us to build up a picture of where he is/has been travelling. Even if we ascertain it is not Conker, everything is worth investigating. On face value the sighting may not seem important, but it may well just be the final piece of the jigsaw that we need! Many, many, thanks to everyone for all remaining so vigilant. Together, we will get the little rascal home…. xx - 2014-01-22 09:01 Reynard
- That's good news Nicola , although we would rather he did not cross a busy road!

- THE THIRD SIGHTING IN FOUR DAYS….Conker was seen again tonight (Tues), but only this time crossing the A420 towards Roger's Concrete. Maybe the nests in the field shelter near to Rogers Concrete are significant after all and the possible sighting at 815 Sunday morning. I am somewhat apprehensive that he is crossing the road, but I have to tell myself that he has been out over 8 weeks now and the road has been there all that time and he has remained safe!
Any posters anyone can put up around that area would be really appreciated. The really good news is that after having so few sightings throughout December, we are now starting to get some regular ones allowing us to build some kind of pattern of his movements. Please God we are getting close to the end of the saga!!
Conker, please stay safe my lovely boy, we so want you back home… - 2014-01-21 01:09 Nicola Walters
- Hi Spindle. Jenny came down with Tiga in the early days, but have been speaking to her again today and she may well be visiting us at the weekend:-) Jenny feels it could be more a case of trapping rather than tracking if we are getting sightings. Mind you we get a sighting then usually nothing for about 10 days if being true to form!!! Thanks Reynard. I will try and hone my IT skills to put more photos on;-)

- TWO MORE SIGHTINGS…..We believe Conker was seen again in fields in the Wicklesham area on Saturday afternoon around 330 and again this evening at around 5.20 in the same vicinity. He is showing himself a little more now, but still appears to want to run away as soon as anyone gets anywhere near him.
I have just received a message from a lady who saw an animal at 0800 this morning on the track near Rogers Concrete on the opposite side of the A420. We are not certain as the light quite dim, but very possible him as again close to where he was sighted. It is a bit worrying though if he is crossing the A420. I am trying to establish a few more details on this sighting. Will update as soon as I have any further information.
Thank you all for remaining vigilant in looking for Conker. - 2014-01-12 17:35 Spindle
- Watching Conkers page. You are doing great. Keep on at it. Fingers crossed for him home soon.
- 2014-01-11 02:40 Nicola Walters
- YES…ANOTHER POSSIBLE SIGHTING:-) Conker was spotted on the dirt track between Little Coxwell and Wicklesham at around 4pm last night (Thurs). It would appear that this is his time for venturing out, because all of the recent sightings, bar one, have been around 4-4.30.
Once again, can we please ask everyone to be extra vigilant when out walking or driving around and normal rules apply…no chasing/calling just please, please call me ASAP…07900 214913. Have me on speed dial…LOL.
The key areas at the moment appear to be Longcot/Longcot Road, Fernham/Fernham Road, Little Coxwell (whole estate between Coxwell/Longcot and up to A420, Wicklesham and surrounding areas.
Lets hope now the weather is a bit better he is venturing out a bit more. We were pretty certain he had hunkered down in all that atrocious weather (just as any wild animal would do) hence no sightings. Weather is behaving a bit better now so hopefully he is more likely to come out and therefore get spotted. Here's hoping…
I know I keep saying it…. but thank you all so much. You have been brilliant xx - 2014-01-09 09:16 Reynard
- good news then
- 2014-01-08 00:18 Unknown
- UPDATE: A POSSIBLE SIGHTING….There was a possible sighting on Sunday of Conker. He was seen twice (once at lunchtime and once early evening) in the area between Longcot and Little Coxwell. If you are walking your dogs in that area, could you please keep an eye out in the fields for a sighting. Conker is likely to be tracking along the edges of fields and is probably not likely to be seen in the middle of a field, so that is where we need to concentrate looking. If you should see him please DO NOT call him but please ring me immediately on 07900 214913.
In terms of the barns that were identified on Saturday as possible nesting sites, currently there is nothing to report on these sites, but will issue an update as soon as there is anything to report.
Once again, many thanks to everyone for all your help and support. I hope that we are now getting closer to finding Conker and it is down to your help that is making this possible. Thank you so much. - 2014-01-04 10:55 lmoore - Area Volunteer, Wiltshire
- Good Luck with the search today everyone. Sorry cant help duel to my stupid broken wrist. The hunt is out again today meeting in Wanborough but usually go across towards Bourton and your area. May help to push him out of hiding.

- SEARCH PARTY REQUIRED: It's been nearly 3 weeks since Conker's last sighting at the old Plough pub on the A420.
We think he must be sheltering during the day & coming out at night, so we'd like to gather as many people as possible to search all remote barns & outbuildings along the A420, Longcot Road & Stainswick Lane area (& fields inbetween).
IF YOU'D LIKE TO BE PART OF THE TEAM: We will be meeting at the Christmas Tree on Shrivenham High Street (SN6 8AA) this Saturday 4th January at 10am. I hope to see you there!

- HELP TO FIND CONKER REQUIRED:
Conker’s been missing for over 5 weeks now & due to the recent bad weather all posters require replacing... so I'd like to take this opportunity to ask for your help to replace and display more posters in and around the area.
IF YOU’D LIKE TO HELP: We will be meeting at the Christmas tree on SHRIVENHAM HIGH STREET, SN6 8AA at 2pm on SUNDAY 29th DECEMBER - Please tell your friends, as more the merrier! - 2013-12-15 22:09 lmoore - Area Volunteer, Wiltshire
- Drove round the area for over an hour as it was getting dark tonight but saw nothing. Forgot to ask you Nicola but have you put posters in your cars as then when you are looking people will see the posters and if they have seen him they will approach you and tell you. I should have done it tonight but never thought about it till I was out and got some funny looks from people hanging around gateways and driving like a snail.

- Heres hoping you see him again today but I have a strange feeling this little man isnt going to let anyone catch him but will just turn up on your doorstep when hes bored of roaming around. The weather is turning nasty and wet so hopefully will help to change his mind and decide a nice warm fire is the best option.Last edited: 2013-12-15 13:53:52 by lmoore - Area Volunteer, Wiltshire

- Thank for bumping Conkers profile back up. Thank you Linda for taking poster to hunt and getting the vital information. Feeding stations set up and being checked. Lots of people in the area are now aware. Hoorah for Facebook and dog lost!!! I don't know how we would have got that info out there without it. Thanks everyone. x

- We took Conkers poster down to where a local hunt was meeting this morning and a gentleman said he had seen him last night between Faringdon and Watchfield on the A 420 He was just sniffing around on the grass verge. Have informed Nicola (owner) This is a basty road and Conker seems to like running down it as part of his triangle as he has been seen before on the same road. Stay safe precious boy.
- 2013-12-11 19:25 Nicola Walters
- Hi Linda. Yes absolutely right re trying to keep area quiet for him. Having said that we have still not had any sightings yesterday or today. We cooked bacon and sausages in the field last night but that didn't appear to entice him in. We have set up some more food stations to try and track where he might be. We had Jenny and Yogi yesterday to try and track him down, but unfortunately we didn't see him. Thank you very much to Jenny, Tiga and Yogi for travelling all the way from Kent to help.

- Have just seen on his FBI page that there has been a positive sighting. No details of where yet as I'm guessing Nicola wants to keep the area quiet so as not to scare him off. Come on Conker time to give up and come home your Christmas presents will be waiting for you

- We have listed as dog sighting on Doglost. I have also informed the police who in turn informed the transport police. It was reported this afternoon to Network Rail. My husband spotted the dogs again this evening around the fields in our lane. He has been out to try and catch them but they won't come near us. They are barking, but appear to have moved towards Shrivenham again. I will try my best to catch them, but am now searching for three dogs instead of one!!!! HAve been out looking for Conker today but again still no sighting. Nothing happened on the food in the High Street last night but will be doing again this evening with the camera. Conker now has his own Facebook page so could everyone please go on and like and invite. We just need to keep the word going out there. Many thanks.
- 2013-12-06 13:17 Reynard
- Nicola can you contact network rail.please?
- 2013-12-06 12:34 Nicola Walters
- You are not going to believe this. I was on phone looking out my living room window for Conker across the fields I saw a movement behind my fence. I thought it might be Conker or a muncjac and running were two greyhounds going hell for leather. One I know was wearing a red and yellow striped coat. I ran out to try to call to them only to find them disappearing into the field across the road running flat out across the fields parallel to the railway line towards Shrivenham. I cannot believe that I am looking for my dog and two runaway dogs are running past my house. I live remotely so this is even more bizarre. It was just a fleeting second I saw them in so can see how it would be difficult to see Conker in fields. I have contacted Linda from DogLost who is now contacting the dog warden. How come I am now trying to help with someone else's missing dog….is that not too much of a coincidence…………I had hoped to see Conker tagging along behind them…although of course would never keep up with a greyhound and whippet:-(
- 2013-12-06 07:51 Nicola Walters
- Thanks Claire. That would be great. No carswell is not that far from us. Just along 420 He doesn't have a Facebook page but he is all over Facebook as shared by lots of people. His progress is also on The Dog Studio at Woolstone Facebook page where he has had over 20,000 hits in the first week he went missing. I haven't heard back from adver yet. Lets hope I do today.

- Thank you Claire. I do hope we have a happy ending. That would be fantastic if you text me your email address I could always email you some little business type cards that are great for handing out to people or putting through doors? ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Jenny with Tiga tells me that golf courses are very popular with dogs. In fact we tracked across the Shrivenham golf course yesterday where we think he has been. I am no worried about the weather. It has been so mild up until today. He has such a thick curly coat that it will get all damp and cold:-( Maybe the rains will bring him home. He hates being in the rain. I have left a message for the farmers in Horpit Lin but didn't get to speak to them. I am going out this eve around Shrivenham High st to see if there are any sightings as there was a scent in the High Street yesterday which could be no more than three days old. It would mean that he is moving around at night and maybe lying low in the daytime. I have a friend who lives on the high street so we are going to put his bed under her porch with some food and an item of my clothing and see if he turns up for food there? I will try and get George to scent around the gate too. I have emailed the Swindon Evening Advertiser with full details of our plight and hope they will print a story. I have told them how the local community have really got behind Conker and how amazingly he is famous over Facebook with over tens of thousands hits and well over a thousand followers. Lets hope they like the story and print something for us. We have targeting Bishopstone today with posters etc. Thanks Lin for covering Wanborough for me.

- So sorry Nicola that you didn't find him today I am in Wanborough everyday so will do posters at the weekend and go round with them for you. May be worth going down Horpit lane as well as the fields there join up with Bourton I will phone the farm at the far end of the lane

- Still no positive sightings of Conker. I have posters everywhere. Everyone you speak to in Shrivenham and surrounding villages know of Conker. He is quite a famous boy….for all the wrong reasons. I have put on local radio last weekend but will try again. Haven't tried Swindon advertiser but will ring them tomorrow. I will try to get posters out further afield in Hightworth, Wanborough and Bishopstone. If anyone is able to help me with printing posters from this site and putting in the villages that would be really helpful. Whilst I am spending all of my time out searching every day it is difficult to keep on top of all the admin side. Tracked miles today with tracker dog. Quite strong scents around Shrivenham, but nothing concrete on his whereabouts. I am increasingly losing hope of every seeing my lovely boy again. I so don't want to believe it and trying to remain positive, but it is very hard right now to see the positive. Just one positive sighting will restore my faith that he is out there. His dad George is so missing him… Thank you everyone.

- Had a call at 0500 this morning from a lady in uffington as she had heard a dog barking from around 3ish this morning. Went straight there but no sighting therefore not sure it was him. More of the same searching today. Put up lots of new posters and dropped cards into houses in uffington today just in case it was Conker who was there last night. Need to spread the word a bit wider it would seem.

Even if we don't get Conker maybe we could meet up some time with my other spanish George (Conker's dad) and your puppy?! It would be nice to have a local walk with you. We are not far across the fields from you and Conker was spotted at Ashbury and possibly Bourton so when you are out walking would be really grateful if you could keep a look out for him. Thank you Nicola

- Very quick message as off out searching again. Have been out all weekend and no sightings. Cooked bacon and sausages in woods late sat eve but nothing. We thought may lure him out. We are off out again now for another day of trying to track him. We have laid scent tracks across fields back to house to see if that works. It was conkers 10th night out last night and am getting increasingly worried.

- Hello Nicola, Sorry that we didn't find Conker today, but I think that there is still hope after yesterday's possible sighting. Both girls are completely pooped and are fast asleep (on my bed)!
Conker's missing notice has been shared on the Spanish Water Dog Club UK Facebook page and also on the Spanish Water Dog Rescue UK Facebook page. The Spanish Water Dog Club UK did an email out to all members yesterday asking for help, so you may still get some volunteers coming forward.
Fingers crossed that the guys from the Dog Studio manage to spot him when they go out tonight and they don't get chased by the farmer.....
If I can do anything else to help please let me know. I will be praying hard for Conker's safe return tonight. Jo - 2013-11-29 16:41 Nicola Walters
- Just got in from another long day. There was a possible sighting in Bourton yesterday by somebody visiting the area who didn't realise a dog as missing. They saw it running down the road. I luckily had Jo and her girls with me and was able to speak to the people to see if the dog they saw looked anything like Bracken. They were not ever so convinced, but I think in a way as it is such an unusual breed that might be more positive as they didn't really recognise what they saw. If it had been say a labrador they would have been more positive….if you understand what I mean?! Thank you so much to Jo, Bracken and Rosie for their time today helping me search. Rosie was picking up some scents, but sadly it didn't get us to Conker. It was lovely to meet you and your lovely girls. More food taken this afternoon…..a magpie!!! I am so grateful for the camera though as I would have been definitely thinking it was Conker eating the food. I think Conker too large for rabbit holes etc. We have checked every hedgerow and bush I think for miles and miles. Thank you all for good wishes and support. I know the SWD rescue know as they have offered support should we get Conker back and is traumatised. Fiona. If it is not too far for you to come then any help would be appreciated and would love to see your SWD puppy:-) I have a friend coming at 10.30 to help but maybe we could do an early morning walk to have a look. I believe the Dog Studio will be going out tonight/tomorrow with night vision gear to see if they can see anything. I had planned to be around the home today, but with the sighting in Bourton ended up walking miles across fields in the end. I have given more little cards out today with all the details to walkers, runners etc.

- There have been several different border terriers that have gone missing recently and reappearred four or five weeks later. It is thought that at least two of those had gone down rabbit or badger holes and got stuck and were only able to free themselves when they lost weight. Is there anywhere he could have done something like this. Also have you checked hedgerows and bushes in case he may have hurt himself and gone into hiding.
- 2013-11-29 12:11 Bevacreek
- Hello, I am a fellow SWD owner and have been following your search. Unfortunately we are based in the North West so a little too far to travel to help with the search. Have you tried posting in the SWD facebook group and the SWD rescue facebook group? Might be worth a go. Good Luck and I am praying Conker arrives home safely. I actually found out about Conker from an email circulated by the SWD club so hopefully this will help. Come home Conker!

- Hello, we live in OX12 and I wanted to offer our help. I am new to the breed and I have a 5 month old SWD puppy, but am more than happy to drive out your way early morning tomorrow with our boy and go for a search. I hope you find him soon, lots of prayers your way.

- Stay positive. I have just been assisting in searching for Barnaby who was found 30 days after going missing. He wasn't sighted at all. Do not give up, feel sure he will be there , just lying low. Stay positive. I'm a little way away in Dorset but happy to make the journey if I can assist.
- 2013-11-29 07:23 Nicola Walters
- The food was eaten in the porch overnight. Excitedly I checked the camera and sadly it was a cat eating the food. I hardly ever see a cat here (maybe 3-4 times a year) and suddenly one turns up from nowhere. I am so upset. I have Jo coming today with her two SWD girls which is my next hope. I am just not getting anywhere….. Iwill check the feeding stations today, but have absolutely no idea what will have eaten the food if has disappeared.I am increasingly upset that I haven't seen anything since Saturday….it is a week today that Conker went missing…it will be my seventh day of just walking and searching:-( I am planning on staying around here more today to try and get more scent down of me (as suggested by Jenny) whilst others search back into Shrivenham.

- 2013-11-28 20:33 lmoore - Area Volunteer, Wiltshire
- Well done Nicola. Stay positive he is probably sitting and watching you wondering what the hell you are doing but you just need to get him interested enough to come forward. BBQs in the evening are a great idea. as well as sausages see if you can get hold of a piece of bloody steak as I have been told that the smell of the blood cooking travels well and lingers longer. If you do see him stay low and avoid eye contact if you have liver in your pocket or even cheese throw it over your shoulder at him and try to entice him closer to you but always let it be at his pace dont rush him. Good luck hope he makes an appearance tonight.

- Thanks Sharon. I had been told that he would probably be more active dawn and dusk by SWD community. We live in a very rural area so am hoping that any pollutants would be minimal I have another swd owner coming tomorrow from south of Hungerford who is bringing her two bitches to see if they can sniff hjm out. I will go up the lane this evening and try and get my scent down from the bridge to my house. I have already peed in the garden!!!!!!
- 2013-11-28 20:14 Springer sharon
- Stay positive. Can you cook your sausages late at night. The smell will travel further as there will be less pollutants etc and he may likely be more active after dark. Keeping everything croSsed for you

- Hello everyone. Another full day out and still no sighting. I have had a SWD owner helping me today with placing food stations around and also tracking with her swd. I was very disappointed as Jenny with Tiga were actually going to come and track Conker today, but due to some horrid comments about Tigas tracking integrity regrettably she had to cancel me. I had so pinned my hopes on her being at least to locate an area to look in. There are just miles and miles of fields he could be in. She did give me some tips over the phone though, but not really substitute for having her special dog here. Whilst out I put the food in the back garden and when I popped back this afternoon that had actually been eaten so am putting more out in the garden this evening. I have also cooked some sausages in the open air as suggested to try and lure him in and I have to say they do smell delicious. One very tiny glimmer of hope was that the local farmer in the next field came to see me today. He said that last night around 10.30 he was standing on the railway bridge for a couple of hours as he was in pain with his arm so decided to see if he could see Conker along the track as the trains lit up the fields. He said whilst looking he looked to his right and there was an object standing looking at him. He was quite clear that it was bigger than a badger, but not as big as a muncjac. He also felt not tall enough for a fox. He said had what looked like fatter legs than a munjac too (woolly trousers maybe???) As soon as he moved his foot to try and get a look whatever it was ran into the bushes, which is the field behind my house. We had an identical swd to Conker with us and he confirmed that he thought it was the same height. This swd had a much closer cut though so wouldn't have looked quite so big. I am hoping upon hope that it was him and my sausages might just lure him in tonight. I will be putting some food in the porch again and I have a wildlife camera that I will be rigging up to see if and what gets eaten. Im so trying to be optimistic!! I can also confirm definitely that the dog in Watchfield was two weeks ago as I spoke at the beginning of the week to the owner's friend so had already dismissed that.

- The food I left out in the car has not been touched over night. I have sent a text early this morning to Jenny and am awaiting a response. Once it is a sensible hour to ring I will also call her. Heres hoping!!! Thanks everyone for your advice and help.
- 2013-11-27 23:50 Nicola Walters
- Thanks both Linda and Claire. I will give Jenny a call in the morning to see if she can help. Linda - I have put some cat/dog food out tonight in the car (I have left the car door open every night as he loves being in the car) and will see if that goes overnight. If it does,as you say, may be worth recording who is taking the food. It has been there since Sat and first time anything taken today. I may be able to get use of a night camera, but not sure yet. I have also put cat food in the pony stable that appeared to have a bed made in it at the beginning of the week. There have been no sightings of him there and the bed hasn't been used since we noticed it but the food may just draw him in??
- 2013-11-27 23:33 lmoore - Area Volunteer, Wiltshire
- If you think it could be him that has come back to the house and eaten the food could you set up a wildlife camera and see if you can get a glimpse of him on it.I have a customer that has one I could see if they will lend it to you.

- Thank you so much Jo that would be brilliant. I have another SWD owner (Sarah) coming out from Buckingham tomorrow to search with her dog. Thanks Linda. I have contacted Jenny with Tiga via her site this evening and am waiting to hear back. Unfortunately I do not have a telephone number though. I have been told that SWDs go feral very quickly and may not even respond to me now. Most SWDs that go missing are found very close to the home (with one being only 100yards) but will still not go back home as they associate it with whatever it was that spooked them. The best time to spot them is either dawn or dusk (due to their feral nature). I am so indebted to everyone who has helped me. Thank you is just not adequate!!!!

- Hello, I am really sad to see that Conker is still missing. I have two SWDs and can come out to help with the search on Friday if he has not come home by then (although keeping everything crossed that you find him sooner). I will stay in touch over the next 24 hours. Jo

- I have now had another positive sighting at around 1.30 on Saturday. Conker was in a field behind Manor Close. A Lady spotted him just sat watching from afar. It was definitely Conker because her husband saw his blue name tag. As soon as the lady went out he ran away again into the recreation ground in Shrivenham. This adds up as he was in Stainswick Lane at around 13.45.

- Thanks Linda will let you know. I have emailed the Tiga the tracker dog this evening so am hoping I may get a reply. Many people out all day again today and still no sightings. I have had a bowl of food in my porch since saturday which hasn't been touched but I came home this evening and all gone. Of course it could have been another dog or a fox. We live quite remotely but dog walkers do go past our house so maybe one of their dogs ate it? I have put some cat food and mixer in the car with door open this evening so see what happens with that.

- The original sightings were all on the roads but maybe now he has stopped running and is now using the fields to move around and to find food and water.. I am Linda that spoke to you yesterday so if you can get a search organised give me a shout.

- Don't give up hope ... many dogs reunited after much longer absences ... including one I was heavily involved in. Keep on getting the message out and I hope you'll have some good news very soon.

- Thanks Terri, I appreciate the encouragement as have to say today has been a bad day psychologically and your story restores some hope for me. I have been out from early hours to late night every day since Saturday. I have hoards of amazing people searching every day with me. I have put posters everywhere in all local shops, restaurants, pubs, gps, post offices. I am just so worried that no sighting since Saturday afternoon. Everyone we speak to already knows about Conker so posters etc are really working on his profile. We just need to see my lovely boy. He has always been a rascal but this tops anything he has ever done!! Just one spooked evening and this is what happens:-( He has acres of fields he could have hidden in around the house so am at a loss why he decided to run so far away from home. He has not shown any inclination to run away in the past 9 years.

- Going out in the early hours. Putting flyers up in GP surgeries was msinly what made people notice her. She was missing for two weeks with three motorway networks right next to us. She arrived at my parents by herself at midnight 13 nights after she went missing
this is from any breeder who lost her swd so there still hope - 2013-11-26 16:26 terri durrant
- come on little one please come home

- Thank you for all of your comments. Sadly Conker did not go back to the bed last night, but I am leaving his things around there just in case. Still searching fields today and a going to leave a scent trail of my clothes across the fields to home. He is proving very illusive. Everyone I have met I have given either posters or small notes with mine and conkers details on so they have in their pocket if they spot him. all posties and police in area know that he is missing.

- Hi I will try to go for a drive around the area later and see if I can see him.

- I’ve found that it helps to print out an A4 sheet of paper cut into business-card size slips, each with brief details and your phone number on. Give them to all the local dog walkers, postmen etc. you meet. Then if someone has news when they’re out and about they don’t need to find a poster or log on to the site to contact you. A little picture will help too as he's an unusual breed. Glad he's tagged and microchipped. Come home soon!

- Still no sightings of my lovely Conker since Sat in Stainswick Lane. Have been out again all today and eve looking. Have had call from a local lady (Ali) along Longcot road saying that what looked like a fresh bed had been made in the corner of her pony barn. I have been to have a look and definitely some kind of bed made. I have put chews, a sock I have been wearing all day and a towel with scent to see if it is made into a bed. Conker definitely scratches to make a bed so may know more tomorrow morning. I let George(his dad) leave his scent around barn too. I have everything crossed!! Thank you once again to everyone for their help.

- Hello, I saw this dog yesterday (Sat 23th) at approx 1.45pm in Shrivenham village and tried to get hold of it. The route I followed the dog is Fairthorne Way (right from the High street) all the around and then on to Stainswick Road, heading out on that road, south of the village and out towards the train track. I lost him when I got to the main car park by the park next to the Wilt/Berks canal. He kept running away from me and I sorry I was not able to get hold of him. Good luck with finding him (I will put a facebook message out).Last edited: 2014-01-29 13:26:43 by Angus

- Sorry to see that CONKER MISSING 9 YEARS is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (60337)

- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
