I certainly remember handsome Steve and can't believe it's been a whole year since he went missing. Did you ever think about contacting Rottweiler Welfare as I know that they regularly have anything up to 50 Rotties looking for new homes. Just wondering whether whoever had him may have lost him or given him up to Rottweiler Welfare or another of the Rottie rescues. It just occurred to me that IF Steve ended up in a rescue kennels, having been handed over by the dog's 'owner', they may not necessarily scan him as would appear to have been given up 'legitimately'. I do hope that bumping his page will bring about new information as to his whereabouts. All fingers and paws crossed 'this end'.

I know this is a long way from you, but from comparing the pictures of this dog with Steve there is a very strong resemblance. Plus, I'm sure that thieves take stolen dogs out of their area to minimise the chances of being caught. Please take a good look and bear in mind that the found dog is probably very dirty. Hello all.... still sadly no news on Steve. On our search for Steve we did manage to reunite another Rottie with his owner which was great. This boy was not chipped or tagged and had been loose for 1 night only. Steves story will also be appearing in 'The Local Rock' which gets delivered throughout Leicestershire and also Nuneaton. He also appeared in the Leicester Mercury so we are hoping that this awareness will get people noticing and hopefully give us some more leads to finding Steve. It has been over 4 weeks now and I am so worried about him. Big Sam (our other dog) is also very lonely without Steve. Its awful as I can't make him cheer up. :-( Thank you all for your continued support and we still have hope that he will be home. xxx

Good luck with today's search. Still keeping just about everything crossed today for Steve's safe concern. Like you, I do think it's highly likely that someone has Steve because Rottie's are just so distinctive & large not to be noticed if out wandering. Looking forward to seeing Steve in the Reunited section. BTW did you make some business-card sized information slips or do you have some of DogLost's mini-flyers (4 to a page)??? These would be ideal to hand out to all and sundry both during today's search and afterwards.

Hello - thanks for the info. We have already checked with Leigh dogs home and none of the 3 Rotties are him :-( ID61227 has also been checked and its not him.

We received a report that someone had seen a lady with long dark hair on the 06/12/13 on Sapcote Rd in Hinckley. She was described to be in a grey mini with writing on the side. She was seen to be petting/talking to what the reporter believed to be Steve ...? If anyone can think of anything please do let us know.

Good news to hear that The Hinckley Times is covering Steve's missing story. I do hope that the article will be responsible for bringing Steve home to his worried family and furry 'brother/sister'. Rotties are such home-lovers, couch potatoes and dogs who love their regular routines that he will be missing his own family like mad. As always, fingers and paws crossed 'this end'.

Oh my goodness - poor Steve (and poor owners)! I think you should update the poster accordingly i.e. 'MISSING - BELIEVED STOLEN'. Also amend the 'Other Info' section and include the fact that a crime reference number (CRN) has been issued by the police. Make certain you or another member of your family or a friend checks these websites at least twice daily: Gumtree, Preloved, ukclassified, Pets4Homes and epupz. You really MUST make Steve the hottest and best known boy in town. I'm many miles away from you in North Kent but hope I can still help in some way. BTW did you read my previous post about the business-card sized contact information slips? Please post a message on here if you want me to ask DogLost Helper 'Baggy Dog'. Hope it won't be long until Steve is back home with his family.

Had another chat with Hayley, they are doing everything right and keeping Steve high profile. There have been no reports of rail staff having seen him and they feel sure someone has taken him. Any help postering is appreciated

We now believe Steve has been stolen from us!!!! The fence in the neighbours garden has been checked and is secure with no gaps at all. So this can only mean that he was taken. My other dog was on the front garden so someone may have tried to take him too but he is larger and maybe they were put off??? I have no idea how he ended up on the front but someone must know something. I have a crime ref. number and the police are now treating the situation as a theft. Do I need to do anything else to my poster or change anything? I have also now offered a reward just in case someone is holding out for some cash. Thank you all x

Hayley, you are most welcome - ANYTHING to help a Rottie. We've shared our lives with four to-date and currently have Milly - hence my DL 'call name' I hoped that you wouldn't take it the wrong way but just wanted Steve's poster to look as smart as possible. Is he friendly and would he go off with someone, if encouraged? Just poster like mad (at least 100+ for starters and 200 would be even better)! Are you able to make business-card sized cards to hand out to all and sundry? That way, when someone spots Steve (and they will!) or hears of someone who has recently acquired a 'new' Rottie, they will have your contact details to hand, rather than having to return to a poster. My very good friend, DL Helper, Baggy Dog has done these for Team Amy (the missing Flat-Coated Retriever). If you are unable to produce these yourselves, I can ask her on your (and Steve's!) behalf if you'd like me to. It's also worth looking on Amy's DL page to see if you can pick up any tips. I really hope it won't be long until you receive that oh, so important call. Both Milly and I are keeping all paws and fingers crossed 'this end' for Steve's swift and safe return. He's certainly a beauty. Come on Steve - show your gorgeous face.

Steve now has his own Facebook page - Help Find Steve. There is a search party planned for 11.00 am from the Burbage Common cafe this Saturday. I am sure if people cannot make it until later in the afternoon they will be most welcomed.

Thank you Millys Mum for pointing out the errors. My husband Neil wrote this in a bit of a flap as we were so upset so made a few mistakes. I have hopefully corrected this now and its a bit clearer. Yes, I agree with MacIntosh - what a handsome lad, although I might be just a bit biased! How strange there hasn't been any sightings of something so large and distinctive. I couldn't help but notice that his DL 'Missing' poster doesn't read quite right and just wanted to make sure he was given the best possible chance of being reunited as soon as possible. Might I suggest that you amend the wording following 'Where lost'. Start with 'Burbage (off Brookside), Leicestershire.' Then continue as before: 'Due to high winds ...' etc. And just being really picky, the words 'collar' and 'wandered' are both spelt incorrectly and then delete the final sentence about where you live. Hope you don't mind me mentioning it but just wanted Steve's poster looking good. BTW, I just love his name! I do hope that it won't be long until this lovely lad is reunited with his worried family.

-Tesco Express in Hinckley at around 1.30pm on Sunday.
- Stapleford NG9 - Dryden Courts
- Burbage Common in Hinckley some time on Sunday

Have spoken to owners. Steve escaped with another dog , which was found shortly afterwards. There was a sighting of Steve on the Friday morning about 11am near the Railway Station. Have stressed the importance of getting as many posters out and to contact British Rail, along with other general advice
Am emailing advice sheets, contact numbers etc. will add to DogLost Leicestershire Facebook, DogLost Central fb DogLost East Midlands and Warks plus my own and other relevant local sites
Stay safe until you are found Steve
