- Have you tried cooking some food that he cant resit; the smell may tempt him back. If possible put an item with his scent on, and if dry place in the garden with your scent on too; it could be a blanket. a toy, a towel anything he has been using or sitting on. It could also be that someone else has been feeding him too. He knows your voice so keep calling him, whilst tapping his dish (With food on) Has he been NEUTERED? If he has then he is probably not too far away. Alwayus best to let them have the op, as then they only have a small territory. Good luckx Keep us posted.
