Not sure if links work on the thread but here is a like to the story of how Dee managed to catch Lauren. It my be of interest to read how all the techniques suggested worked in Laurens case (not caling her name/walking away from her ect) click 03/01/14 to read the story www.manytearsrescue.org/sylviasblog.php

I would just like to thank all those that helped with the capture of Lauren. Thank you to Sam who liaised with juniper and your advice sheet on the MT forum, which I followed right down to the cented pee!!!!Thank you Tiga and Jenni for helping and although guiding us in the right direction I found it hard to believe that my little x breeder would have crossed the motorway, how wrong was I. If you would like to read the full version of Laurens capture, please read Sylvia's blog on the MT main site.
Thank you all Dee Turnbull Fosterer for Many Tears Animal Rescue.
Juniper Connal
Wanted to add a massive thank you to Sam Bradley who helped every step of the way and Jenny and Tiga who lead us straight to Lauren even with all the petrol and diesal around (thank you for the link on Laurens page) none of us believed Tiga as there was no way Lauren would of traveled that far or over the motorway but guess what he took us to 2 fields from where she was caught before we turned him away as everyone agreed he was on the wrong trail. The sad truth is many dogs have been lost from these services most never found or seen again. I guess it is more likely these scared rescue dogs will go missing but what happened in Laurens case is from the moment Dee found out she had gone she sat and read Sammie detailed summary on what to do if a dog goes missing prepared for Many Tears then we followed the steps all the way. There is no rigth or wrong way to do things but with Sammies experiance and help and other DogsLost volunteers we had all the options and knew what to try and most importantly (as I expect is often the case) a shit load of luck! Piwoodhouse I am sure you are not the only one who thought the worst. Luckily a lot of people on the ground and woking behind the scenes had a lot of experiance of scared rescue dogs which meant once we had a sighting Dee was able to use her experiance ith the support of the other people in the actual capture.

What a great start to the New Year, Lauren is SAFE!!! Team Tiga and all the other helpers you all did a great job. xx
labradorloopy
Really thrilled to read she's safe. Having also adopted a PF dog from M.T I know how jumpy they can be ..... but three years on, I also know they're wonderful dogs once settled and secure. Happy New Year to you all!
piwoodhouse
I am so thrilled she's back! Can I be brutally honest and say I was expecting the worst here - these terribly nervous ex PF dogs or ones from overseas often prove impossible to catch and I've personally known two that ended up as fatal RTAs. Until they know people mean them no harm they need really careful watching, don't they? Very well done to everyone involved in her rescue - hope you all treated yourselves to something strong and very alcoholic!!
Foggydog
I am so happy for everyone. Lessons learned in all ways I am sure! Hugs from all of us xx

I am so glad Lauren has been caught & she is safe. I was fearful of checking the thread knowing how close she was to the motorway.
Well done everyone. Happy New Year. xx My Barney Bichon send Lauren a big kiss.

Well done everyone, let's hope Lauren settles in her new home quickly.

This is lovely news I'm so glad Lauren has been reunited xx

Lovely news. Brilliant Jenny and Tiga and all that helped get this little one home. Onwards and upwards for this little one and owners.
DogLostMoogie - Area Volunteer, Cornwall
Amazing!! Well done to all involved especially Tiga! Happy new year!
Juniper Connal
Thank you all so much for your help and support. Jenny and Tiga lead us straight over to the South side and we all stood there not beleiving Lauren would travel so far. Of course with a missing dog expect the unexpected. An amazing team got a trap across the UK in a few hours by working in relay so we had it by 7.15 last night from requesting it at 2pm finally thank you to Chris and I think Wish and or Sheepdog who helped with the actual capture. Happy New Year
Springer sharon

Great news. Well done all.
Sammie
She had indeed been found but we were holding off reuniting her for a while.
Well done to all those helpers who searched, those that managed to transfer the trap to the area, to those that supported the search and to Jenny who came down and was sure she was on the South Side not the North!
PaulaK
Fantastic! Well done all
Wish
Lauren has been caught and now on way home

Have text to offer help.
sharon murrant
Hi The text you sent,i only got half of it I live very close to where you are I think and am more than happy to help.I have re-texted you.
Juniper Connal
Thank you everyone, we really would like some offers of help, one of the mobiles is playing up so if you have not had a reply could you text again adding your name so we can get the rota together. We desperatly need to ask people not to search the area, Lauren heard and saw her foster mum, after pausing a few seconds she bolted and she is still very close to the motorway so if anyone approuches her even with out knowing she is hiding in the area there is a real risk Lauren will run on to the motorway or move to another area that we can not monitor as easily. If you have seen the location shared on Facebook please could you either ask the poster to remove the location details or put in the comments below about texting the second mobile on the poster and not turning up to search. I read on a page I can't post on the location and then asking people to share where they can park in laybys near by. I think if Lauren runs we may not get another chance to find her before the motorway finds her first.

We need voluteer prepared to check a feeding station and if Lauren is seen to not try and approuch her but to call her foster mum. If you are able to help on the watching/checking rota please text with name to the second mobile number. The area being checked is near a road so can be done from a car and we are getting this covered night and day for the next 4 days so all help would be great. Thank you in advance for your help
Sammie
Sharon, I hope they texted you back?
Sammie
Thanks Denise, Solihull is a long way and Lauren was sighted this afternoon so won't be her.
denise
Try putting a post on fb bichon uk & ireland page theirs reported a bichon found in solihull not sure if female ir hiw vlise this is to you
sharon murrant
I have text the second mobile number,I live in Taunton and am happy to help
Sammie
twoD's, Chris cash and Chris Duncton, she is still missing but sighted so it could be detrimental to just wonder and search, as she has ran when spoken to (the lady didn't approach), and we need to stop her running further away. But if anyone can help sit and watch the location during the day that may be of some help so give the second mobile number a call or text if you can. Should you see her don't approach, just call. Thank you for thinking of Lauren.Last edited: 2013-12-30 21:39:35 by Sammie

Wish - I have had to pinked your comment, I know it was posted with all good intentions but at the moment we don't want the location shared incase it brings too many searchers to the area which may scare her off. She has been seen but ran back to whereever she has been hiding so it is now a delicate operation to try and keep her in a safe area and to catch her.
Her old fosterer and a co-fosterer area doing most of the organising and are trying to arrange cover for shifts to monitor her movements. If anyone can offer to help them at all please contact the second mobile number listed.
Should anyone hear of a sighting past 3-5pm today please let them know on the second mobile number.
Chris Duncton
Will pop out that way Tuesday. Very close to where we searched Saturday! From your directions are you heading to or away from Taunton?
chris cash

So pleased there's been a sighting. Can we know where she was sighted so we can go out again tomorrow to search. :)
Sammie
Fingers crossed it won't be long now till she is safe again, sighted this afternoon :)
snorky
The dog that has been found is a Yorkie and not a Bichon, therefore Lauren is still missing.

They would like to try and get 24hour cover there. Many are helping but they could do with some further local experience and help.

PetLog are aware that this chip needs to be registered here but cannot actually do this until the 2nd. They have made a note and hopefully will check this if someone calls in to say they have found her. It's not full proof but the best they could do until the 2nd. If anyone has any way of getting this chip registered before then please email me at yvonne.watts@manytearsrescue.org. ThanksLast edited: 2013-12-29 15:46:38 by Yvonne007

Emailed Road chef but he's away until 31st December so won't receive the email. Still circulating on Facebook and twitter
Sammie
Her chip details cannot be ammended till 2/1/14 when the correct dept return to work.
There is still a possiblity she may have been picked up and taken out of the area so please note any dogs that may be listed as found of the same breed type in your local areas.
Sammie
I have had a call from Juniper who has been there searching today and will return later. A team of fosterers are still there as well as the adopters and have tired all the normal tricks of scenting, leaving food and a den, searching and also patiently sitting and watching. Currently they have a tracker dog with them, which gives them the very best chance of finding her.
Chris Duncton
Went searching fields yesterday but no sighting. Drove round the lanes and put some posters up.
Juniper Connal
Thank you Moogie I have contacted K9 to see of they can help and we have agged the collar and harness in a freezer bag to keep the scent
DogLostMoogie - Area Volunteer, Cornwall
I think K9 tracker Tiga is in the south west helping out Michelle. Excellent success. Maybe worth contacting http://www.k9tracker.co.uk

I have shared on twitter and tweeted to motorway services account and moto account. I will share again later. I really hope you find Lauren soon x
Juniper Connal
Lauren escaped from the Lorry Park Taunton Dewan North Bound. She ran up a grass emankment away from the motorway and in to the tree/scrub land at the top at this point all sight was lost. Lauren only has a harness on and no collar it is a padded over the head style and due to the thick scrub she may get caught on the harness and stuck. Beyond the tree line Lauren ran in to there are fields leading to 2farms and 2 cottages, all residents have been notifed

Wish I could help search for this poor girl but I live too far away, really do hope she is found safe and well today.

Thanks Sammie. I will also make contact to try and help too x
Sammie
I have spoken to searchers on the ground who area searching now, many of which are my foster collegues, so happy for them to contact me. But if there are any other co-ords nearby please feel free to post.
My gut feeling is she will hide rather than run, but very hard to see her when its raining and dark. Have suggested not to shine tourches into the hedges but on the ground or from the top of the hedges downwards.
Yvonne007
Lauren was going from Devon to Somerset. I'm sorry I am not sure if that is north or south.
Sammie
I am getting informed from contacts on our DL SW FB page the dog was heading northbound
DogLostMax - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
I really hope this little dog stays safe, hope someone is watching over her.
Sammie
I have emailed the person who logged this dog to ascertain if it is north or southbound.Last edited: 2013-12-26 17:22:37 by Sammie
