Wishing you well in your new home lovely lad. So sorry your original owner could not be located xxx

sadly being in my late 50s and a dog owner all my life I only found out about Dogs lost through a poster{ for Hugo lost dog 57619 registered 23/9/13 lost in the North West missing from near my home-and still missing} -I now tell every dog owner I know about the site--this beautiful boy obviously had a caring owner and whilst I am glad to see he is no longer in a kennel--I am sad that his owner may have lost him for ever--But also realise what a difficult predicament it must be when kennels are bursting at the seams.
Goldenfrodo
As one of the North West Co-ordinators, I'd just like to say that we went to a lot of trouble trying to find this boys owners (cross posting, looking on missing dogs sites etc.)
I'm also on a forum called RHU and we organise home checks, transport runs for dogs in the Pounds etc. Most of the Pounds are absolutely bursting at the seams and it wouldnt be practical in most cases to keep a dog for as long as a month. So many of them are having to be put to sleep because there's no homes available for them and its heartbreaking to have to deal with.
It might be sad if this lad's owner eventually turns up but at least he's in a loving home

I think somebody commented below in regard to local groomers. But there is always the possibility that this dog's groomer is a private individual who knows!

Just a thought b4 I turn in, could local dog groomers be contacted to see if they know this dog?
DogLostreggiemollieros
I believe from reading on Defra pages that the owner would need to take out a civil case and try to get their dog back that way. I have seen cases where they have been successful and others when they have not x

Anyone know what the legal standing is if the original owner comes forward now? I would be absolutely gutted if this was my dog x

So sorry that your owner did not manage to find you in time.
I often wonder what if it was an old persons dog, who could not get out to look for it, or someone who has no idea about doglost. 7 days is NOT long enough.
I think it would be a good idea if in the future someone could also poster the area with 'Found' dog, especially if it looks like a well cared for dog & it could belong to someone elderly.

I totally agree Carol, 7 days is far too short a time. And yes, many people are u naware of Doglost`s existence. I have often seen a "Lost pet" ad in my local paper, and have contacted the owner in case they are unaware of Doglost; some are; some aren`t. This lad was obviously taken care of, in view of the fact thet he had been recently "clipped" Such a shame that someone must be missing this boy, not knowing where he is, or what has happened to him This is of course as Doiglost recommends the importance of the MICROCHIP. Have a great life in your new home sweetheart. I know you will be very happy with your new family:-)xxx (((HUGS)))
Carol
I agree also , there are people who don't know about Doglost as well , I just feel for the poor family who are looking for him wondering if he is in a lake or involved in an RTA , whilst I am glad he has a new home am also sad for owners as they must have cared for him to have him clipped , I think the time should be at least a Month , grumble over xxx

My thoughts too Claire! 7 days really isn't long enough, especially if they belong to an older person who can't get about, or someone who doesn't have the internet. This boy was clearly loved by someone if he was recently clipped! Couldn't he just have been fostered for a while??

Good luck in your new home lovely boy xx

Best wishes in your new home. Personally, I just feel it a shame that sometimes found dogs do seem to be spending such a short time in a Pound before being rehomed. I know the emphasis is always on a owner to try to find their lost pet and that most Pounds are at breaking point. However ...
