have just made contact with rescue couple were in early twenties woman has dark blonde hair both a bit scruffy. hollys blaze is small and she does respond to name (it was not changed by rescue). She is a very dark brindle but looks blackuntil you get very close, the police have been very helpful in this case and have a better description of the couple than the lady i spoke toLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi steve and lin , the number of rescue centre is 01803812121 "animals in distress", they should be able to help you with a description of the dog walkers (i think that it was a couple?)I dont know how well she responds to name as she may have been renamed by rescue, sorry i cant be much more help at moment but i no longer live in this area and the rescue is closed. They are open 7 days a week between 10 and 4. Please could you give them a call for the info you need, i do so hope that one of these dogs might be holly. Thanks to you both love moth xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just joined and we are in the Torbay area. Is there a description of the dogwalkers, age, build, sex etc?We are aware of two, relatively new dogs to the area, and up to now paid very little attention to them. Both are black Staffs. How distinctive is the white blaze and does she respond instinctively to her name? Will do all we can to help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

One horrible thought is that this couple could have just been holiday makers and come from anywhere in a country. I hope Holly comes back soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How terrible & that is such a devious thing to do. I have added Holly's details to my forum Find Missing Dogs (http://findmissingdogs.proboards67.com/index.cgi), Terrier Talk & Bull Breeds Online.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I originally heard about holly because there was an article & photo in the" western morning news" which is part of the same group as the" herald express" so dont know whether herald would do one as well as their readership cross over but anything is worth a try xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think the rescue should ask the Herald Express to help. They may well get front page cover and they have a huge readership, which would then be on the lookout. You would also as a side effect get lots of enquiries from people wishing to home her if she returns, and probably manage re-home a few more deserving dogs in the process! on't forget the Western Morning News either - smaller readership, but worth a try. Also if the story goes to press it would be a warning to other potential dog theives, that it is hard to get away with it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes volunteees are the backbone of many rescue centres, but Princess Jo still makes a very valid point. Regrettably with dog theft so prevalent you have too be more cautious about who you trust and where it's safe for your dog to play ect. Come home soon HollyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sorry about that rant but we all make mistakes trusting the wrong people and this couple were obviously very devious. all the rescue centres (mainly volunteers! ) do a brilliant job of looking after our four legged friends xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

helpful suggestions re the search for and return of lost /stolen dogs and messages of support for distressed owners/carers of dogs is more useful than berating them for trusting volunteers (dog walkers) or even tying dogs up outside shops, leaving them in cars etc Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Surely she shouldn't have been allowed to be taken by anyone saying they're a dog walker? I hope the home asked them for some sort of proof, any CCTV? Come back safely Holly, keep safe, Jo xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

thanks for putting this dog on site so quickly hope we can find her soon and also maybe a few more helpers on side in this area. i have family in ashburton, moretonhampstead, and torbay they will be looking out for her.this part of devon has a lot of tourists so she may not be local now, although ipplepen is a bit out of the way for chance visitors so it is still very possible. PLEASE get on the case devon helpers xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

That is so horrible! I do hope she turns up. I will keep a look out in Paignton and Torquay areas. I hope they were just incompetent and lost her and didn't have the guts to return and tell you, as if so she will probably show up. Fingers crossed.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What a terrible thing to do to a rescue Staffie looking for a safe, loving and responsible new home. I hope Holly is back in safe hand quickly and finds the home she deserves. Not with the people who stole herxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
