just seen reunited for NW and then had a long read of Jacks story==how fantastic dog lovers are---Gilly P is a star--along with others that offered help and als the others that helped the homeless mans dog---Really glad to see Jacks owner-Lee- didn't back down and let him be rehomed --that would have been devastating---Well Done Dogs Lost xx

MillieW, Jack will be sorted at around 5.30 when I have to phone the home whilst Lee is there to pay the fee and then he can take him home. Good news that the lab is back with his Dad. Happy to help. Skint now!! LOL
Bo
Just spoken to the hostel - lots of tears that end on the phone. Xx
Bo
Sharon - thanks so much, and to Millie and Gilly. Really big thanks. The girl on reception said she will borrow an iPhone and give us a reunited picture by Wed latest. I will ring now with the great news. Xx

Bo
Not yet - GillyP and I paid but no one else has rung Hannah yet so £59 still yet to pay. Can anyone help? The council SDk will take him back to the homeless man when payment complete.
DogLostMillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
GillyP is jack all sorted now? Has Lee been able to collect him?
ClaireC
Bless you Bo x
Bo
Claire - the only reason I put it on here was I knew it would draw attention to this other dog. Job done. Last edited: 2014-01-13 14:19:46 by Bo

I will ask Admin to see if this latest dog threads which are not related to Jack the Springer can be pasted onto the Lab Dog Cross on Found 62961. To make life easier for Admin can I ask that NO more threads (posts) for this Lab are put on Jack's page please. Two separate dogs as it will become confusing. Thank you kind people. x
Unknown
Lee owns Jack (not homeless). Its the lab 62961 who belongs to the homeless man!
Jeanette
You are wonderful people. But please can you clarify? Is this thread about 2 seperate dog? Jack ( belonging to Lee who isnt homeless but needed help ) + another dog, a Lab belonging to a homeless man?
Unknown
Done!
DogLostMillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
Well done! Can we get him chipped with hostel as contact number? Would save lots of heartache in future :-)
Unknown
Spoken with Hannah and someone is calling me back to make the payment. She said the cost is now covered. YAY!!
Bo
I've just had the payment team ring me and paid the £79. I told the lady others would be ringing Hannah soon etc etc. there's an old dog and homeless team going to be very happy tonight. Thanks to all doesn't even cover my feelings right now. I'm just off out to take my 3 to the beach. Back in about 80 mins for catch up. Xx
Bo
GillyP - star you are but £50 plenty. Hannah has been fabulous so here's what she needs us to do. Please ring Hannah via 01803 696900 - you will speak to an operator who will put you through to Hannah (just say its re the homeless mans dog). She will then take your details ref home address etc and get someone in payments to call you back. Xxxx
Unknown
Ill give £64.00 then we are there!!
Unknown
Tell me where to send monies x
DogLostMillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
Well done Bo :-)
Bo
Hannah is just ringing Ealing council now to make sure that the vet bill payment can be paid to SDK or if not where payments will go to......stand by.....
Of note - this dog is under the care of a vet who looks after homeless people's dogs. With him being lost though he hadn't had his medication which is why he was so stiff. Last edited: 2014-01-13 12:35:00 by Bo
DogLostMillieVW - Area Volunteer - West Wiltshire
So, jacks sorted, Bo is going to cover 62961 release fee, how much has been gather for 62961 vet fees? And any chance the vet could do a chip free/cheap or it could be arranged after with one of the free offers?
Bo
I think I'm in love with you all....
Ok here's the story. This dog was rescued by this homeless man when he was a puppy after seeing him being beaten. The hostel he is at let's the dog stay and when I rang them they said all the homeless people had offered a £5 from their £77 fortnightly allowance to get this dog out. Let me ring Hannah now at SDK and see if we can get small payments made and then I will get back to you ASAP. Xxx

Claire Weston Turville. According to "The Dogs Trust" 1500 ankimals were asbandoned over the Christmas period across the UK. Will donate £20.00.
Springer sharon
Happy to help too. Tell me what you need me to do (£25)
Unknown
Well done Bo, I can put £50.00 towards the vets? Tell me where to send it. Does the guy really really want the dog back x
Bo
The found lab cross ID 62961 belongs to a homeless man and I offered to pay his release fee of £79. Unfortunately the dog has vet fees to pay of £109 on top of that which I can't afford to pay. Does anyone know of any homeless charity's pet society that may be able to help as the longer he's on the worse this will get payment wise. The vet bill was for a Sunday 'call out' and some arthritis treatment for this old dog.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Tx everyone...you are all stars!
ClaireC
Lee when you do get Jack back home get your vet to check for that chip again please. It would be really very helpful to us at Doglost to know whether it is working or not as well. Please let us know. x

Thank you gill your 1 in a millions and i defo wouldn't be able to get jack back without your help and really appreciate what your doing but you must let me repay you when i can in soo grateful, thank you!!!

Thanks GillyP for the update and thanks again for helping out. :)x

Right think its sorted. Lee is going to the kennels later and when he is there I can pay for Jacks release. They wont take the payment unless Lee is there to collect Jack as other people have paid for a dogs release and no one has gone and collected the dog. Wont be till early evening though. Apparently another lady offered to pay for Jacks release too.x
ClaireC
We are all sat here holding our breath - and turning "blue" and they say Pounds are at breaking point with the amount of animals that are coming in!
Unknown
Spoken with Dog Warden (nice guy) and he is trying to get Leigh to take the payment. Otherwise someone has to go to the council offices. So so frustrating. Hopefully he will say that Leigh will accept the payment and Jack can go home.
Bo
Aaaarghhhhh .... Silent scream in cyber space
Unknown
This is really frustrating!!! Called them and as it was WA9 it would be St Helens Dog Warden out of hours of not. Really nice lady who is going to search her database and see if she can see Jack on it. Might just get in the car and drive up to St Helens be quicker than trying to pay on the phone!!
DogLostMax - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
Blimey, they really like to make it hard don't they. Good Luck!
Unknown
Ooooo i'm on it!
Bo
I've just spoken to the Knowsley Dog Warden fella (really helpful) on 0151 4434712 and he said that animal services would have collected this dog as it was out of hours service. Their number is 08452417253 and he said you can pay over the phone and that they normally will deliver the dog back to its home as part of their service. ......
Bo
I'm laughing. ... About the div bit! Not the other bit!Last edited: 2014-01-13 09:31:55 by Bo

I shall wait for the dog warden to call me back and see what they say.

Stray Dogs

The Council has a legal duty to seize dogs that are found as strays within the borough. Any dog wandering the streets or parks, even wearing a collar and ID tag, is classed as a stray.

If anyone sees a stray dog you should contact the Dog Welfare and Enforcement Service so that appropriate action can be taken:

St Helens Dog Welfare and Enforcement Service - 01744 676789 / 01744 676338

On weekends and bank holidays you can also contact Leigh Dogs and Cats Home Ltd. Acceptance facility for stray dogs, daily from 8am - 8pm on 01942 671215 / 07786 118088.

Knowsley Dog Warden Service - 0151 4434712
Sefton Plus - 08451 400845
Liverpool Animal Wardens - 08452 417253
Wirral Animal Welfare Services - 0151 6478799
The Council keeps all stray dogs for 7 days from the date they were seized. If a dog is not reclaimed during this time it will, wherever possible, be re-homed.

Before a dog can be returned to its owner a release fee does have to be paid. This fee covers the cost of the kennelling of the dog and the prescribed fee which is a charge made under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

The release fees per dog seized by St Helens Council are:

April 2013 - March 2014 £105
April 2013 - March 2014 £135 (for a dog that has been seized as a stray on more than 2 occasions)

If the dog warden comes back saying there is no facility to pay with a card is someone near St Helens Council from Dog Lost that I can transfer the money to? x

Will you pack it in lol. No one is giving me any money. Not being a hero just think this could happen again to someone else so keep your pennies for the next one. You don't have to be rich to own a dog. They need love not riches and things like this happen. Just glad I am able to help. Xxxx

The contact details for LDCH is in the details further up.

Opening hours Sunday: 9:30am - 5:00pm

Are they open today. I will pay fee to the home direct x
Bo
GillyP - Yes it's £105 - Lee has given an email address and contact mobile number in one of his posts below. His dog is here; http://leighdogsandcatshome.co.uk/
Unknown
How much is the fee. I am more than happy to pay this. Was it £105?
DogLostMax - Area Co-ordinator - Cornwall & Area Volunteer - Durham & Ireland
My understanding is that if a dog is picked up & handed to the wardens, you still have to pay a fee, even if the dog is tagged/microchipped. Tagging/microchipping just gets the dog home quicker.
Is this a case of the dogs home not finding the chip so not giving it back until ID can be proved? I am confused.
I do hope that common sense prevails & the dog is back home where he belongs soon.
Bo
Jayne I'm happy to chip in £30 towards his fee - money's tight with a lot of people at the moment (as we all know) especially after Christmas. Please let me know how to donate towards his release if required. Thanks.
Nikki (Tyler's mum)
Glad someone has explained how this site works to Lee as I for one found his comments about this site very negative and quite upsetting. Especially when we all know the lengths that the people behind this site go to to help each and every one of these dogs. Their work, commitment and devotion for the safety and happiness of these dogs is like no other, and I would just like to say thank you to all dog lost co-ordinators and helpers who are all volunteers and therefore do not get any financial gain out of these poor dogs situations. I hope Jack is soon home safe where he belongs, no dog or owner should have to go through this especially a dear old chap of Jacks age x
Bo
Lee
Your dog loves you and everyone wants you to have him back as that's where he belongs. As others have said, speak to the kennels where he is and see what they say. Ask them to scan him and hopefully it will work. Please don't get angry as it won't help negotiating with the kennels. Your lovely dog is safe, he has a loving home to go back to (yours), let us know what they say and we can go from there. I'm happy to help with some of the release fee. Let us all know. Most on here are not judging and just trying to help you get your boy home.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Have spoken to Lee who obviously is very anxious about his dog. Have explained Doglost is a notice board for lost and found dogs and it is not us who is charging....we don't charge as we are a free service. Lee is going to text me the chip number of his dog so we can check its not one of the "faulty batch" from a few years ago...and see how we can move forward on getting Jack back.
lee mather
Yes I've been in touch with them i can have my OWN dog back if i pay the fee i cant afford that its ridiculous!
lee mather
So your saying its cheaper to give him to a stranger than to his owner who's had him all his life haha like i said MONEY GRABBING SCHEME,taking him from his owner and 2 Lil kiddies that love him PATHETIC!!!
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
lee he maybe chipped but it has not been picked up which is why we always say 'DO NOT RELY ON THE CHIP'. We are here to help it is the stray kennels LDCH you need to be getting in touch with.

Our posts below may have crossed.
lee mather
I love how your all saying his not chipped when he clearly is, I've had my dog all his life he ISNT Chelsea's dog and I've been on my hotmail it isn't letting me reply and don't want my number all over here ill give you a family members number 07918873931 ! Like I've said b4 he was let out for 5mins for a wee and he was taken straight away in grateful to who ever found him and kepted him safe but his my dog i want him home just cant get the funds together, just a money grabbing scheme when he has a perfectly good home but i have pay its pathetic !
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Spoken to LDCH he was scanned by kennels he was handed into, Wardens who collected him from the kennels and also LDCH. His 7 days are up tomorrow and he will be checked over by the vet and put up for rehoming.

Lee/Chelsea you need to go to LDCH and ID that it is Jake but does look like by found details and you have seen his found photo/s, there is another one on LDCH site (I've posted details further down) I'll upload it into the Extra Image box.

The stray release fee will be £105, another option maybe to rehome him which could be cheaper especially due to his age. But you need to speak to the kennels.

Hope this info helps get JACK home. xxx
ClaireC
Thank you Majorjet x
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Finder did brilliant in getting him to safety, he could of been involved in a fatal RTA. It does look like his chip has not been picked up as he would of been scanned by Animal Warden/Council Dog Warden and LDCH.

Tried to contact Chelsea but no answer.
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Thanks Claire we can get contact details from members DogLost registration. I've checked and Lee has not registered a phone number but Chelsea has. x

Have looked on LDCH site and ID: St Helens - 02575 looks like JACK
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
I have only just been alerted to the comments, thanks Angus for the alert. :)

Lee sorry to see you have been having trouble getting JACK home. It is the Council that set the release fee for the stray pound. He would of been scanned.

In the first post by guinness'mum (who found him) it says he did not have a collar on or is CHIPPED, so maybe the chip is not reading and his collar had come off.

The kennels he will be in are Leigh Dogs & Cats Home, I will follow it up and contact the kennels tomorrow but the release fee will have to be paid. x
lee mather
Just tryed emailing you but its not letting me so could you email me at lee_mather_2k13@hotmail.co.uk and ill get back to you with my other contact details! Thank you!
lee mather
Thank you for your advice will email you now!
ClaireC
Lee can I suggest that you ask them again to re-scan your dog from tip to toe ie a full body scan. Sometimes chips do go for a "walk" around the body and sometimes if the chip is that old it maybe that it cannot be read (I think I am correct in saying that). The other reason is that the Council's scanner may just not be working properly. Please ask them to re-scan urgently. We will try to help you. If you could let us know which Dog Pound your boy is in then maybe just a maybe that someone from Doglost local to you can go and have a chat with them also. They would have to be something I would ask from a Coord and would have to take their advice on this. If you would prefer not to leave contact details ie your full, including your area code telephone number then we can contact you direct. You can email into Admin above or to me bprealization@btinternet.com I will pick up my emails tomorrow. Hi Lee, I think you may have got this Doglost Site wrong! We try to reunite missing/lost or stolen dogs to their rightful owners. We are NOT the Dog Pound where your dog is being held. If you can let us have your phone number we may be able to offer some further advice or assistance in getting your dog back to you. If you can provide us with your tel number a Doglost Coord will be able to ring you if you wish. Hope this helps.

I can't believe this dog is still in the kennels. Surely his fee would be going up the longer he stays in? Can something not be worked out?
I would have gladly given towards his fee if he was picked up straight away.

I don't understand why i have to pay all this money back to get him home when his tagged, he was let out in the garden for a wee and he ran off, i went out straight away to find him so who ever picked him up got him straight away, i want my dog home but cant afford your ridiculous fees, i will happily come and pick him up but cant afford the fees just give him back, just a money grabbing scheme!

I'm sure that we can all help out in some way. We would need to know which Pound your dog is in as well including their telephone number. You can post this information on your dog's page here as well. Please can you provide us with your full telephone number so that a Coordinator can speak to your Mum. Thank you.
