Hi Kate, I hope you are still watching this page. My Cocker Spaniel is epileptic and went missing last year, we did get him back. I just wanted to let you know that I have been getting help from a homeopathic vet for his condition which has unfortunately got worse this year. It is really helping him and I can honestly say it has saved his life this last couple of months. He still has his normal meds but the homeopathic medicines have lessened the severity and amount of fits he has - and he is much brighter in general. It was Jenny (Jennny and Tiga) who put me on to it and I am so grateful, so please give it a try. XLast edited: 2014-05-27 12:00:09 by Fergal - Area Volunteer - Cornwall

Wonderful news . Stay safe now Dylan:-) Annie. You explained to me about tracking collars on another page. They must be worth every penny knowing where your dog is, and what she/he is up to.
Annie
Mark, Sorry for the delay in replying but I have only just seen you asking for info about tracking collars.

I have posted this info previously on another dog's profile and I hope it helps you too.

The tracking collar I use is a Retrieva collar which uses a combination of GPS and GRS (mobile phone)to track my dogs. It's a bit like having a sat nav on your dog in the form of a tamper proof collar and it provides live tracking (updated every 30 seconds I think)and can pin point your dogs location to within a few metres.
You set up your mobile phone to link with the collar and then just look at an app on the phone to see where your dog is on a map (or satellite image map), relative to where you are. You can also use your computer to view where your dog is via a website. On both mobile phone and computer you can also view the path he/she has taken over any period of time, so it is useful to see which direction he/she has been travelling in.
Probably the best thing to do is look at their website http://www.retrievatracking.com
Although it is certainly not cheap to buy, I think it pays for itself the first time your dog goes missing - I can't imagine being without it for peace of mind it brings. Of course you should still look after your dog as best as you possibly can whilst on walks and prevent from escapes from the garden etc, However,if you have an escape artist or a head strong dog who just decides that she wants to follow interesting smell rather than you then it provides a reliable way of finding them.
If you think of how accurate your car's sat nav is in knowing where it is, then it is the same for the collar. I have had the situation where my girl broke though our fence in order to go bin surfing around our neighbours' houses. I could see on the phone app that she was in the rear garden of one particular house, whereas without the collar I would have just walked by because I could not see her.
I believe they are also now using the same technology for people with Alzheimers/dementia in the form of a belt.
By the way, I do not work for the Retrieva, I am just very grateful for what they do!!

Welcome home Dylan. Stay safe :)

So very pleased Dylan is safely home again. I would echo Esther's comment about a tracker collar helping. Both my dogs have GPS tracker collars so I can see where they are either on a computer or my phone and I would not be without them for the peace of mind they give me.
Esther
So pleased Dylan is home. I wonder if a tracker collar may be of help. I haven't ever used one, but poor Dylan obviously gets so confused when he fits. Really great he found his way home.

Owners are hoping that Dylan will still be close to home and once fully recovered he will make his way back. Please do not run after him if seen as this could drive him further away from familiar surroundings. Report all sightings direct to owner on the above numbers.

Unfortunately, Dylan is lost again. As before, he had an epileptic fit in the garden and escaped out into Erlestoke woods and possibly Salisbury Plain. He is chipped, is wearing a collar and has a metal and red lead attached. Please phone Mark or Kate on 07711116293/01380 831361 is sighted or caught. Thankyou

Dylan was finally trapped (third time lucky) in a reinforced cage. Beware trappers - dog warden's cages aren't always up to it. So many thanks to all who helped / encouraged / advised, especially to Poppy and most especially to Gerry, Colin & Stephen. Without their feeding and concern Dylan would not be with us
Red Alert
Dylan was one of the first dogs I listed on the Red Alert Group page and I am sitting here in tears, I am so happy for his owners and welcome home Dylan xxx

Has there been any more sightings of Dylan?
MarkFoster
Hi Selina,I just looked at that post and it's not him. Dylan is chipped and he isn't neutered. No further confirmed sightings, although possible sighting a couple of weeks ago near Tilshead. Thanks for thinking of us.
Selina Rogers
HI Marc - Have you looked at the fb picture Kathy has given below.. From the photos you have put on the post I dont think it's him - although a striking likeness! Have you had any further possible sightings of him at all??
KathyW
Could this be Dylan?

Mark could you contact Purdeys owner i agree this is likely to be her a Pointer could easily appear to be a Spaniel?

There is a liver and white pointer missing from startley, Chippenham, can the spotter double check sighting against this one? http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php?dogId=64112#.UvI-v6jFIiF
MarkFoster
Possibly a sighting on London Road, Chippenham, near Buckland Grove. Wandered around there asking people and calling for an hour or so last night but no luck. Unlikely that he would be there, but you never know. If anyone's around that area can you keep your eyes peeled. Thanks.
Lilybear
A lovely bright day, hoping this brings news of Dylan.
MarkFoster
Thank you very much for helping out Selina
Selina Rogers
Went out last night for a couple of hours calling in the direction Dylan was last seen going too... Looked in farm buildings etc but no sign. Went out this am too for dog walk, a lots of people in area dog walking. Let's keep fingers crossed as weather temperature has been kind to him so far
Selina Rogers
HI Mark - no recent sighting of him as far as I know. This was the details I had from the sighting of the day after he went missing and was seen by a ranger. My other half has been away all week but home now and he has a thermal imager which we can use. Hoping to go out on the range tonight but not sure where to start??!
MarkFoster
There is a possibility that Dylan was seen on A36 Alderbury dual carriageway south of Salisbury on the 28th January. There is another missing Springer in that area (Merlin) so it could be him. But if anyone has any further information please let me know.
MarkFoster
Thank you to everyone for helping look for Dylan. He is still not home. Please keep an eye out for him although he could be anywhere on Plain by now. Selina, has there been a recent sighting of him heading towards Larkhill?Last edited: 2014-01-30 20:25:53 by MarkFoster
Selina Rogers
I'm local to where Dylan comes from and always walking dogs on the plain. Everyone I meet are looking and calling for him. Apparently he was last seen heading off towards Larkhill area. I'm more than happy to join in on any search party. Going to be going out over the weekend in the area to look - fingers crossed... Poor boy must be starving by now :-(
hazelfoster
Hi, we still have no news of Dylan - thank you for all your support x
DogLostReynard
I dont think owners realise doglost is an proactive site with many active helpers with good contacts and experience, they post their dog missing here and often never look back or update the page probably unaware.
Facebook defiantly can spread the word a dog is missing but the active help . and good advice is often lacking, & not everyone is on facebook

The poster can be downloaded here and printed by anyone and it is often due to a poster that an owner gets that all important call.Last edited: 2014-01-29 13:36:14 by Reynard

Taken from a facebook post:

Dylan hasn't been seen since midday on Wednesday 22nd when he ran away from our house in Erlestoke after a fit.

He is a liver and white springer spaniel with a distinctive white line down his otherwise liver face, mostly white body and a large liver patch on the end of his back, docked tail. He is very good natured and approachable.

We think he is probably around the west side of Salisbury Plain as he was seen by a Ranger heading South West from the water tower at Stoke Hill at about 4pm on Wednesday.
Lilybear
Sadly no news on Dylan just now, hoping safe and soon home.
Lilybear
Karen, haven't heard anything my end. Have been checking in for updates from afar. So hoping for good news. Hope you kept warm, such rotten weather. Stay safe Dylan. x

A few of us went out on the plain where the kate suggested but after walking around for hours no sightings. Have there been any more sightings out there?

I am only half an hour away and am willing to come and help owners with their search if they want to contact me on 07989 381509.
Lilybear
Update from owners. Dylan suffered his first epileptic seizure yesterday afternoon whilst in his garden at home, prompting him to run off as he recovered. The vet informed of this first episode. They have been searching all day, have put up posters, handed out cards, informed Range Control etc. It maybe Dylan has headed towards the plain.
jools32
Have texted my doggy friends in Coulston and asked them to keep an eye out for him. Hopefully they will spread the word, too. Good luck in your search.
Esther
I am a long way from you, so cant be of practical help, but hoping Dylan is safely home soon
