Great news! over to blue for you Pluto....
alikat
That's great news! Please, please keep him safe this time - he's managed to cross some very busy roads to get from Hailsham to Seaford, but we don't want his luck to run out.
Nicola
PLUTO HAS BEEN FOUND! ...in fields behind Clementine Avenue, Seaford. He is safe and well, just hungry and tired.
Big thanks to Dave (?) and his German Shepard, because without them we wouldnt have caught him.
BillP
Didn't see Pluto at all yesterday or today (on 4th and 5th saw him at least a dozen times) - I looked Clementine Avenue, and fields between it and Bishopstone Village, plus Katherine Way and Princess Drive

AceB
Apologies if I don't know who I'm talking to via phone but I've been getting so many texts and calls that dont have names to them. Just got back from Seaford, had a text around 3.45 to say some people were trying to catch him so went over there with Rigas. Thank you to the couple in the silver Vauxhall who I spoke to in Grand Ave. They are positive it's Pluto from his photo and said he looked like Rigas with the big ears. Rigas and I spent two hours walking around that NW part of the estate, up through the golf course and around the edge of the field. Unfortunately I didn't see anything so now it is dark and raining again we've come home but we'll have another go tomorrow. I know I need to contact a couple of people from today who left messages etc, will try and get round to it this evening but I've got loads to do so it may be tomorrow. Nicola Elias have you managed to get a poster up in Costcutter in Princess Drive yet, it's a busy store and there's loads of dog walkers around the estate. I'm going to print off a sheet of my mob number and brief details on Pluto so I can hand them out to any walkers I see. Will also call the gold club tomorrow to see if they've had reports of a dog lose. Going to copy this lot to Brighton Dogwatch and Lost and found pet's, Seaford, Eastbourne and surrounding on FB

Wondering if it would be possible for people to put dog food down in sheds?.....this could be a way of trapping him. As Gingersmum said, its doubtful he will be caught in the usual way.
Gingersmum
Hi BillP, Pluto does not recognise his name and is a dog from Cyprus who has only been here around 10 days. He will not come to anyone for food as he lacks any social skills because of what he is and where he has come from. I don't think there will be a hope of him being caught in the usual way of coaxing and lead and collar. He will be petrified of people and more usually men because of the abuse these dogs have sustained in Cyprus. If you are attempting to call him please use the word 'Ella' rather than his name given to him in UK. Ella means 'come' in Greek and the usual word hunters or owners will use to call their dogs in. It may be prudent to set up a feed station near to where you see him so that will encourage him to keep coming back - I understand AceB is arranging a trap through RSPCA and that maybe the solution for this boy. My son was out for a couple of hours but Pluto kept running away. This morning I saw him on the field between Clementine Avenue and Grand Avenue, but this evening he was in Katherine Way and Clementine Avenue before heading back to the field. Now I know his name, I will try calling him in the morning,

His patch seems to between the steps in Princess Drive and the Field but he does tend to stay the Clementine Avenue side of it. , he doesn't seem to be hungry as my son couldn't coax him to come close enough to him with some food.
Sally
Thank you AceB so much! I'm not too far away so if you need help, let me know x

We were over there this evening following some reports and spend some time driving up and down Grand Avenue with a lamping light but nothing seen. Did the same last night too and spotted lots of foxes and rabbits in the beam. I'll go back over there tomorrow during the day, walk it with my hounds if I have time and I'll try again after dark.
Sally
I'm about 20-30 mins away and happy to help when there's a sighting .... I'm fostering a similar dog so know what they're like to a certain extent.
Gingersmum
If there have been sightings this evening from BillP then the owner needs to be able to contact him to go directly to the area Bill has seen possible Pluto TONIGHT! Is there anyone locally on this thread who has a lamping light that can be used to track this boys eyes?
BillP
I have seen the dog a number of times over the last couple of days, but it runs away before we can catch it. This evening it is in the Clementine Avenue and the fields behind Clementine Avenue.

Before discovering this site, I did contact the RSPCA, but they gave me a number for LDC (who are closed), I called their Emergency number and the lady said she would give the details to the Dog Warden (but I am not sure they will do anything tonight).

My son has gone out over the fields to see if he can catch itLast edited: 2014-02-05 21:07:24 by BillP

ravenette, the link does work ive double checked it. You probably need to be a member of the group to view it (group name is Emergency Fostering Volunteers - UK)

I have established that Pluto is requiring another foster home once he has been found (the foster posting had no mention of him being missing, hence the initial confusion)

This was posted on fb on 03/02/14 - Looks like the same photo and same dog but needs to be checked out https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203354766489228&set=gm.733480603343706&type=1&theater

As unlikely as it may sound the breed is more than capable of covering that distance and terrain in that time. They have incredible stamina and will keep going for ever if they are on a scent. Hailsham to Seaford is southwest which is the direction all the smells will be coming from due to the wind so it's possible he just kept following them. Until we have a confirmed sighting of him I wouldn't rule out any location within 10-15 miles.
alikat
Hailsham to Seaford is a long way - I don't believe he could have covered that distance on his own, therefore is someone trying to steal him?

Description: " DARK BROWN MEDIUM BUILD" when asked on breed type "It's dark (and I'm not very well educated on these things I'm afraid) - it was maybe a hound type dog. Short coat, long legs, ears that flopped over", reports someone else said "Someone else has said hound black and tan" Person who sighted dog was then shown photo of Pluto and replied "Y

How come Pluto was able to escape again? Hope he will be found safe and proper measures will be taken to ensure this can't happen again.
AceB
I've just heard from Plutos owner that he has gone missing again, Monday morning about 11am. From what I understand there has been a sighting of him in the same Rickney Lane area as last week. The dog warden has been informed.

Where was he lost Nicola?
AceB
What is Pluto like with other hounds? We have a Swisshound and a Trailhound we could bring over from Newhaven if they're likely to tempt him closer when he's spotted?
Nicola
The dog warden and Petlog have both been informed, thanks.
doglady
